I'm so confused, which ROM? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

Man I get more confused the more I read. I'm on stock sprint Note 5 5.1.1. I want to root. I need a ROM that has tethering and is light or debloated. Any suggestions?
Dr. Ketan?
Should I use SpaceX 0.1 Kernel?
I know how to use Odin and install TWRP.
I keep finding Roms but don't explicitly support the "p".
Thanks
Max

Go to page 1 of thread. Read. Odin mm factory firmware. Enjoy moar. Can even upgrade to nougat and still use moar. There is also an older version of moar that should be 5.1.1. You need to restrict your reading the the sprint note 5 android development forum.

I'm still on the "stock" one but I'm modding it bit by bit. All I want are edge features and some other mods. Hotspot doesn't work for me, not even on ROMS that have it enabled. Try this one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sp...om-galaxy-note-5-qc5-nougat-deodexed-t3585845
I like it, but has too many mods for my taste.

rom for p905?

there is a rom for p905?
No, its not even rooted yet as far as I know.

the sm-p905 is rooted, but issue with custum recovery...
Right. The Verizon variant of the 905 may not be but the standard one is. Development is slow to start on this device but at least with root users can get xposed to help bridge the gap. As much as I wanted an At&t LTE variant I'm glad I didn't wait for it seeing how long the Verizon folks have been waiting for root.

Using CF Autoroot flips a switch on the system and it will say "warranty_void:1" when booted to download mode
That may be a reason for service center to refuse warranty repairs in the future possibly....
I have a rom already built sitting on my computer ready to be flashed ...and have made a majority of the mods in my note pro stock rom...obviously won't be as fast as my actual rom but here's an average benchmark just to get an idea of the gains...if you are interested the rom is almost identical to my att note 3 firenote rom in the note 3 threads to get an idea of what my roms are like...just waiting for twrp or cwm and we're golden

Your V13 firenote note 3 ROM looks awesome and you have even embedded sound tweaks. I am using Bigbiff"s 2.7.0 TWRP version now with some working functions. Esgie has made some significant breakthroughs in the last few days getting a TWRP version to work. Do you think either of these recoveries are sufficient to flash your new ROM? I have the P905 note pro 12.2 version (the current ROM is TGY but works fine here in the US). My carrier is AT&T with both phone and data rights. Standing by to play when you think the time is right. :fingers-crossed:

[Q] Noob question roms

I just want to get this straight before I do anything rash. In order to install a custom rom ie MOAR on my sm-900p if the rom says 5.0.2 does my android version have to be the same or can it be 5.0 and still work without bricking? Along these same lines, is it possible to downgrade to 4.4.4 via the stock room and will there be any issues? I have also read about leaked stuff like I am running 5.0 and if I wanted to somehow get a leaked 5.0.2 rom how does this work?
Thanks in advance.

If you want to install MOAR, check the MOAR FAQ and it should answer all you questions. Post#2 is a step by step on installing. Recommend you stay away from leaked versions until you're more comfortable about how to get out of a problem. MOAR 6.0 is based on the official Lollipop release. If you have any MOAR questions after you've read the instructions, feel free to post on that thread.

Ty for the response, but, I already realize that there is a rom for 5.0 it was just an example. I really wanted to know about the android versions and if they have to be the same ie can I flash a rom that is for 5.0.2 even though my android version is 5.0?

Yes you can. You can also go back to 4.4.x but it requires flashing firmware back for Kitkat.

It should be up now. I missed an overlay so the 1st week's build failed. I fixed it for the next weekly.
It is not SlimKat however, it is Slim6 (Marshmallow, not KitKat)

Many thanks for this! I ve had the S4 for a while and although its rooted and running Android 5.0.1 (kernel 3.4.0) battery life sucks. Understand about it being Slim6 rather than Slimkat. Hoping that it will be a good daily driver with better battery life and a way to get rid of all of the Knox and Google garbage.
Again many thinks for the posting. On installation simply use recovery to flash it?

Yeah, Download ROM (and Gapps and SuperSU if you want them) and wipe /system, /data, and /cache and flash the ROM (+ gapps and supersu, if you want them)
EDIT: Wait, if you have a jflteatt and you're running 5.0.1 stock, your bootloader is probably too new to work on custom ROMs
javelinaddart
5.0.1 is not the stock ROM. I put this on after rooting and installing safestrap. According to CPU X the bootloader is I337UCUG0C3. Fingerprint is jflteuc/jflteatt:5.0.1/LRX22C/I337UCUGOC3:user/release.keys.
Think this will work?
Again many kind thanks for your help and advice.
Edit: Can this be done with Flash Fire. All I have is the stock recovery on the phone due to Safestrap and the bootloader. Also note I have used Flashfire to do both a Fastboot and full backup to the external SD card.

You can't flash custom roms. Sorry. Nothing I can do about this.
Some TW based custom roms may be possible through safestrap, but certainly not CM or Slim, or any source built ROM.
I337UCUAMDB
I337UCUAMDL
Are the only 2 supported bootloaders that are supported for jflteatt
Understood completely. Time for a new phone ! Many kind thanks for your interest and guidance.

Need help to do OTA update on SM-N915G

I am still using Kitkat 4.4.4 on my Note Edge (N915G). It is rooted with TWRP recovery installed.
Build: KTU84P N915GXXU1ANK4
Baseband: N915GXXU1ANK4
I would like to OTA upgrade to marshmallow 6.0.1 but not sure how to find and install the stock recovery and unroot. (so I can keep my data and not worry about backup and restore)
Or is it better to simply use Odin to install the latest stock rom from SAMMOBILE site. (has different versions, so not sure if I can got straight to 6.0.1 and if I can, then which one to download (multiple countries listed).
Appreciate the help and guidance as to which upgrade path to choose.
Thanks.

Why are you changing from KitKat?
Why not? Isn't Marsmallow better OS?
Also, apps are getting unstable with every update.

Marshmallow has a lot more bloat in it....... 900 megs vs. 1.3 gigs, IIRC.
I find that updates tend to "outdate" your current install.
They're designed that way from what I've seen.
I wish I could go back to Kit Kat and tailor the system from there.

My S5 runs so much better on stock Marshmallow. I was not expecting Note Edge to get Bloat.
Which custom rom would you recommend?

To be quite honest, I run Marshmallow.
I only run it to get away from the horror they call Jelly Bean.... I HAD to go up.
If your KitKat still runs well, I would just add any apps' that might be needed and call it good.

Help unrooting and flashing a new rom

Hello, it's been some time since I've last rooted and flashed kernels on my devices. My device is having problems with certain apps and I feel it's time to update my root or change my rom or flash a stock rom etc. Here is what I am using now:
Build: MOAR v6.1 OA6
Software: G900PVPU1BOA6
Hardware: G900P.04
Android: 5.0
Kernel: 3.4.0-3859396
Would you recommend I unroot then flash a stock kernel? What is a new root I can use with this phone? Thanks
I would recommend Odin a fresh stock MM rom. Then boot to the desktop, by pass set up. Go to dialer ##72786# it will do a reactivate and update prl and profile.. Then Odin TWRP, and flash a new rom or your choice.. If you like MOAR then Odin a LP stock rom, and do as mentioned and flash MOAR 7.0 it works best. Right now, I'm running crdroid 3.8.5 baset off of Nouget with 7.1 gapps and it works very well You need the latest MM firmware to run it, and at least TWRP 3.2.1-0-ktle.img If you do flash crdroid download ktledv

First off, thanks for the reply. I really appreciate the help. What's the battery life like on MM compared to Lollipop?
I would prefer to use something like a stock rom but just extremely debloated. I also want to be able to play pokemom go without problems and super su keeps giving me problems when trying to play. Do you know of any setups that would allow for pokemon go and are fast, battery effecient, and debloated?

How's the mm baseband? I know the obvious response is updated is better but I experienced better LTE on the firmware I currently have, no idea honestly other than it's lolipop, maybe ok4? I want to upgrade phones but having trouble finding one with sprint newer that can be customized how I like so I'm also looking at playing with this one prior to and after getting maybe a pixel unlocked

I would stick with Lollipop OK4 and flash MOAR 7.0. I to find better LTE and all around connectivity on Lollipop than MM.. I once again, went back to MOAR 7.0 from crdroid.. Crdroid is a great rom, but battery life, sucks, as well as connectivity on calls and data. When in aroma and you get to the point about the kernel, choose don't touch kernel, and finish from there. I never like MM and those are the reasons why.. Crdroid I flashed was 7.0 but naturally on the MM base band, but it was still the same.
Thanks sir nobody could really answer that for me. I found the ok4 of all lollipop got the best LTE where I live, plus I'm on sprint so I'm a bit restricted on ROMs, unified dev leave some bugs with sprints network but not too badly!!

You probably already know, but I will ask anyways. Are you using the KLTEDV version of the unified ROM? KLTE roms does not work very well with sprint.

Thanks! I'll make sure to read which I should use. My daily is still on MM while my old one that's kinda beat up is now on N as it us now the practice phone. Playing with it before Oreo, may stay for a while. And I installed kltespr on both devices as there were still options available for specifically this device with the spr tag. My CM 13 network is fine, no worse than just regular sprint...
Haven't tried the move to either N or O on my daily, worried about the signal discussion. I'll use an old kltespr to test before the newer maintained kltedv if its there probably to see how it goes.

Unfortunately my sprint s5 is one of the phone with that signal issue. I was in the process of changing carrier so to try and fix that issue wasn't worth it for me. My new S5 did not have that issue, when i went to verizon, its a really weird bug.

I think it took a bit to stat with the sprint APN, changed some settings, messed with some stuff, and it seems fine now, I'll have to remember to check back at that before upgrading. I'm on the ok4 baseband
