[Q] Its taking Ages to charge battery - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
My friend recently bought one plus one from amazon and updated it via OTA to cyanogen os version 12.0-YNG1TAS213. Since then it is taking lots of time to charge. From 48 to 100% in 8hrs in stock charger. Is there a any way i can i fix it or how to revert back to previous build. My friend is girl and she don't have much knowledge on unlocking bootloader and all,And she is far away from me.

The charging time should have nothing top do with what build is on the phone. Are you using the original charger and cable?

The only thing I can suggest is to try a full factory reset by flashing the stock images with fastboot. You'll need an unlocked bootloader. Instructions are in my guide thread:

okay, thanks. thats actually what i used but i seen somewhere that its possible that the unlock option really wasnt working and lets say god for bid
that i messed up something and have to odin back.. maybe that would take care of it as well but hopefully it never comes down to that lol

I, too, would just want to make sure you're positive about that. Its too possible to wander into a brick factory with this type of info misused by other random newbs on here.....

All you have to do is flash back to stock, root, and upon reboot, if the custom unlock screen is present...well then your bootloader is locked back up. Also your not going to brick this device that easily...the worst that will happen is you will get the yellow triangle saying unsupported software detected...then you will have to odin a stock rom /kernel. I would never post information that would potentially brick somebodies device...

Its not a really a trick...the stock rom has the stock aboot.img, so after you flash back to stock, the unlocked aboot.img gets overwritten. Tha ks for confirming!

Flashing a backup of your stock Rom through your recovery will not lock your bootloader.
Hi,
I have cyanogenmode 10 and I wanted to lock the bootloader, I've read in this thread that we could do it with EZ Unlock but now my phone is completely dead. I know my phone had more than 30%. I have it plugged to the PC with the USB cable and when I plug or unplug I can hear the same sound as when we plug or unplug a USB device, however the screen is black.
I have tried to do a normal reboot, a recovery boot with volume down plus power button but nothing. If I hold the power button for about 10 seconds I can hear the sound from Windows like if I've just disconnected the device but nothing changes.
Has anyone ever experienced similar problem?
Thank you for your help.
You can not relock on a custom ROM it will brick your phone. Right now charge yurt phone on the wall outlet for an hour. The laptop is a lower current and may not be enough

Hi Kintwofan,
Thank you for your reply, I don't think it's a problem of battery. I have plugged it into the wall outlet for more than an hour now but still no signs of life I need to try another cable but I don't think it's the cable either because it was charging before.
Any other suggestion?
Thank you again for your time.
Two things. Have you pulled the battery let it sit, put it back in and try to go into recovery? Also, when plugged into your computer does it say it's searching for a driver, if so what is it called?

try wiping all drivers related to the galaxy than reinstall them. Fixed it for me many times on the fascinate and once on this phone.

OK, I have removed the battery for at least 3 hours but the result is the same. it won't boot up.
When I plug it to either the wall or the PC, the led for the power won't even light up.
I think I have a brick instead of a phone. Damn it.
Next time I will buy a Nexus instead of an HTC
That's what it sounds like. Plug it in without the battery, does the led stay red?

[Q]Phone is stuck in recovery after discharge

Hi,
1st of all, I spent almost 1 hour searching for this issue, couldn't find my exact scenario.
I have a One S, T-Mobile USA version (believe it's S4) running stock ROM, rooted with CWM recovery and unlocked bootloader.
the phone discharged completely and now when I charge it the phone will show the CWM screen but after 2 hours of charging I still can't reboot system - it turn's off and then goes to recovery again.
When in recovery, there orange LED is not showing
Any help will be appreciated.

Sorry but you didn't search hard, I have helped with this before. You going to need to leave it to charge for a bit say half hour but more the better. Now you could stay with CWM but TWRP is much better but ether way you going to need to reflash the rom and same with boot.img and this can take a few trys but if that don't work then you going to need to run a RUU.

Thanks for the response, but I think my issue is a little different. I have Stock ROM, didn't touch boot.img and my device have been charging for over 3 hours now.
ADB works, reboot bootloader doesn't work and takes me back to CWM recovery.
If my only option is flashing a ROM, that is what I'll do, but I'd like to avoid it.
Thanks

Sorry missed read that with you having CWM. Then you going to need to flash the stock recovery, I think the All-In-One Toolkit has it and then reset in bootloader but think you going to lose everything on the SD.

Upgrading a stock AT&T Skyrocket to 4.1.2 problems

I bought a used AT&T Skyrocket it came with 4.0.4 and I tried to do the OTA upgrade to 4.1.2 the upgrade said it was successful but when I rebooted it was still on 4.0.4.
Then I downloaded the official 4.1.2 from here and flashed it with Odin following all the directions I have used Odin several times with other phones so I am no stranger to it.
It upgraded fine then after I got it all set up I decided I had better charge the phone I plugged it in and it started charging then a pop up came up and said "Battery Disconnected" I tried another brand new battery I had thinking the battery was bad but the same thing happened.
I tried everything cleaning the battery terminals and the USB port nothing helped then I used Odin to flash it back to the official 4.0.4 and it started charging fine and still is, I tried to flash it again to 4.1.2 and the same thing it won't charge and flashed back to 4.0.4 and it is charging again.
I have searched high and low for someone else with this problem and can't find anything.
Anyone have any ideas?

I tried all that with the same result.
The seller who claims to have 200 of these says there is no official JB upgrade and I must have modified the phone to even get it to upgrade so I think he knows something he is not telling.

While on the official JB when I plug it in the computer sees the phone and I can mount the storage on it but it wont charge through the computer either.
I have tried several different chargers while on JB and all with the same result the only way to get it to charge is downgrade to 4.0.4.

I am having the exact same problem. I just got mine off ebay last week and it also had ICS on it and charged with no problem (several times). Since I'm new to the Skyrocket I did my research on here (great threads by Vincom by the way) to make sure I do the correct steps for any type flashing and upgrading. Steps are similar to my old X10, just different sofware. Used ODIN, flashed stock, uploaded all aps, root, recovery, etc. Charged it that night with no issues. Next day went to charge it again when the battery read "!" and after 8 seconds received "battery disconnected". Unplugged, tried again, same thing. This went on for an hour until finally it recognized. Next day, same problem. Tried reflashing stock, did it twice in a row, and the sequence started again after the initial charge. Tried different roms instead of only stock, same issue. Been looking at all threads about this and after trying each possible scenario, same issue. Is there a bug in the USB Debugging? For the experienced DEVs is there a flashable fix that can be made? If there is one and I missed it in my research can someone point me in the right direction? Or am I stuck with an external charger from here on? Thank you in advance for any help on this.

no one responded if they are using oem charger and cable or replaced/tried a different charger/cable that is still oem.
if it works on stock ics it should work on stock jb, the only thing I could think of it not working on jb is the charger/cable are not compatible with the phone and that the jb firmware has changes to it compared to ics that wont allow it to charge properly

Thanks for the reply. When I got mine off eBay it said it came with a Samsung charger but not the original. So I found one that said OEM new for the Skyrocket. That's the one I've been using. Since I'm planning on building a rom from stock for my own use do you think there is a file from ICS that can be ported to JB to make it compatible with non OEM chargers? That is in case I got hosed on my supposed OEM that I bought.

Great minds think alike. Tried that too. The only consistant result is that it's not consistant. There's got to be something in the build that some devices just don't recognize coming to JB. I'm just not experienced enough to know where to look for this error to try and fix it.

I don't believe I did a wipe when upgrading from ICS to JB with ODIN. I assumed it did that on it's own and wouldn't need to. Ok, that gives me a place to start again. Maybe this can work for each of us with this problem. I'll wipe the sucker clean and downgrade to ICS with ODIN tonight. Test with my plethera of chargers I have at home see if they all work. Wipe it again and upgrade back to JB and test. Report back with results by tomorrow. Thanks for the idea Vincom.

Well crap. I was hoping I had good news for this topic but unfortunately I don't.
So I wiped everything yesterday when I got home. I was using CWM as my recovery instead of TWRP to wipe and format everything. I've used both recoveries before, just so happened to be on CWM at this time. Went down to ICS using ODIN and everything worked fine. Tried every USB charger I own and each worked flawlessly. So I wiped again, upgraded to JB and tested. Again, everything worked fine even every charger. After some playing with it I decided to go ahead and put TWRP back on through ODIN and immediately after the reboot the dreaded "Battery Disconnected" popped up. So back to the full wipe, re-flashed JB through ODIN and all was peaceful again.
So after the fresh install I downloaded all my apps back to it, frequently plugging and unplugging just to see what happens with no errors. Ran the battery down and charged completely over night. Got to work this morning, plugged it in just for $#!+$ and giggles, and sure enough "Battery Disconnected"!
Now I'm to the point of laughter about this. Thought maybe it's when I flash the custom recovery that is doing this. *loudannoyingbuzzersound* wrong!
So of course can't test again until I get home but I have a question for you Vincom and everyone else. Is there a way to flash a custom recovery without using ODIN first? Is there a way to root without the custom recovery installed? What version of ODIN is everyone using? Since I have also a computer running Ubuntu, does anyone have experience with Heimdall? If so, can anyone send me a link with a friendly tutorial on how to use it? I have it downloaded but haven't been able to get it to work and all the links I find are either not friendly or are showing how to use on windows and not Ubuntu. That's why I've been using ODIN on my wife's computer instead that runs Windows.
Sorry asb2164, I'm trying buddy.

[Q] Atrix 2 help!

Hi guys!
I tried searching for a similar problem that I have but wasn't able too. So I need your help here.
So I lost my CID, didn't back it up so was using bptools for it when I was on JB leak3.
1) I flashed CM11, 4.4.2 dated 14 Dec after flashing gapps, it removed my recovery and was bootlooping
2) I reflash the same leak3 which used to work earlier using RSDlite. Now the rom isn't booting i.e. it is stuck in it's "pumping logo".
3) I again try reflashing using RSDlite, only this time, it fails and status is shown as battery low in fastboot. Now I connect charger, it boots, stuck in the white screen which is expected since I lost my CID.
So, does this mean that it's charging? If not, am I screwed??

If fastboot says low battery then u cant RSD.....
Google Mcgruyver method or externally charge ur battery....( ie if you get a white led )
If your in india it shouldn't be a problem finding an external universal battery charger in any cell shop....

BMM can be like that sometimes. There are a few possible ways that it could've happened. As long as you make a backup before trying anything, and have RSD lite and your FXZ handy it shouldn't be too much of a problem. It's more aggravating than anything else...

If he was getting the "pumping" Motorola logo boot animation, then he was only boot looping so he was able to charge the battery. The battery would've only been an issue if the phone was booting straight into fastboot, or if it wouldn't get past the boot logo.
Also you can downgrade from jb to ICS, just not from ICS to GB.
If I had a dollar for every time I said that, I'd be making money in a very weird way.

Hey!
IDK what was I thinking but I flashed pa 4.4.2 gapps on CM11 by altered and BOOM! Lost recovery and bootloop.
So I re-flashed leak 3 it's now stuck in boot animation("pumping"--again what was I thinking lol!) meaning a softbrick. Why is it happening? I mean is it a bad flash?
Or does it have something to do with leak 3? If so, I can't seem to find ics fxz. The superthread links are dead. My another question is-
Will I be able to us AT&T fxz? Since I've already lost my CID, it shouldn't be a problem right?
PROBLEMS PROBLEMS PROBLEMS!:silly:
Also, can anyone give me the link for asian version of ICS?
EDIT- Was able to boot! went to stock recovery, wiped data and cache partition. Thanks for help guys

If you ever want to use the JB leaks again, DO NOT flash the AT&T FXZ. Just a forewarning just in case you get stuck again and start considering it.
If I had a dollar for every time I said that, I'd be making money in a very weird way.

OMG you're right! Never thought of that! Thank God I acted patiently here. I was gonna flash AT&T ics just before trying that wiping data thing!
Thanks! Will keep that in mind.
One more question though(and hopefully the last..)
Can I flash PA Gapps on slimkat? Since both are based on AOSP right?
i guess i've a problem . by mistake while i was supposed to backup cid , i chose the option erase cid and it s deleted, no backup either. now whenever i reboot, my phone shows some error. since i've bmm i am being able to load into ics in system 1 . is there any possible way to get rid of this error message about cid during startup?? because it is really annoying.

Rogers XT925. Unlocked GSM. Rooted stock Jelly Bean. Will not boot after reset. Help!

As the subject states I have a Roger's Razr HD (XT925) that was GSM unlocked for use here in the US. It was rooted and bootloader unlocked and used for a while without problem. I recently decided to upgrade to a new phone and did a factory reset of the HD in preparation to sell it. It got stuck in boot loop but I was able to boot fine in recovery and everything worked fine. I forgot power it off and the battery drained. When plugged into AC it will not charge. Plug it into a PC and USB connection sounds like it's loading drivers. Device manager shows QHSUSB_DLOAD. Any attempt to boot into recovery mode when plugged in yields a couple green flashes from the LED and that's it. When unplugged, absolutely nothing. I did make a Motorola data adapter and connected the phone to the PC. The green light comes on for a few seconds and then goes out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really need to revive this phone.
QHSUSB_DLOAD is a perma-brick, unfortunately. I haven't seen anyone on here recover from it.

Assuming you can substitute accordingly, of course.

Thanks. I'll check it out.
So I had chance to check out the link and I think the solution to the problem is simpler than that. I know the phone was booting into fastboot when it had a charge. It's possible my DIY factory cable isn't a good one. The RAZR/MAXX/AtrixHD have a simple two pin battery that can charged by opening the case. The battery for the HD has 4 pins however I cannot find the pinout for it. Can any tell me which are the positive and negative? I can cut and hook up an USB cable to them to charge the battery directly and then I should be able to boot the phone and repair the ROM.
Edit: I was able to get my hands on a multimeter and found that the there's 1 positive pin and 3 negative ones?!?!
did you try to leave your xt 925 plugged to pc for little while, then attempt to get it into fastboot?

Yes. I left it overnight.
Well then you cant do jack , i noticed battery stays ok in xt925 while on fastboot but I guess if batty is completely out, it is a different story. You will revive it man, gotta get hold of factory cable or a spare battery
OK... I have been able to charge the battery and can get to fastboot. Now I just the Rogers stock ROM because I thought I had the bootloader unlocked but don't. I found a couple links but the site is dead. The phone boots directly into AP fastboot.

Awesome! Thank you! I'm downloading it now.
I just can't win!!! I tried flashing that ROM with RSDLite 6.1.4 and now I'm getting a security downgrade error. Is there a newer ROM I should be using? I cannot seem to find it if there is.

Comment out TZ/Partition in XML when downgrading and already upgraded device. You're gonna need the tz/partition from a 4.4.2 build and flash those I believe. There's lots of info on this here just don't have it handy to link for you.

I don't find anywhere in the XML that has a tz/partition statement. Being that this is a Canadian device I only had the stock ICS on it.
I thought I had a Rogers RAZR HD after some research I found that I have a Fido one. So, I have to find the Fido ROM
