[Q]Phone is stuck in recovery after discharge - HTC One S

Hi,
1st of all, I spent almost 1 hour searching for this issue, couldn't find my exact scenario.
I have a One S, T-Mobile USA version (believe it's S4) running stock ROM, rooted with CWM recovery and unlocked bootloader.
the phone discharged completely and now when I charge it the phone will show the CWM screen but after 2 hours of charging I still can't reboot system - it turn's off and then goes to recovery again.
When in recovery, there orange LED is not showing
Any help will be appreciated.

Sorry but you didn't search hard, I have helped with this before. You going to need to leave it to charge for a bit say half hour but more the better. Now you could stay with CWM but TWRP is much better but ether way you going to need to reflash the rom and same with boot.img and this can take a few trys but if that don't work then you going to need to run a RUU.

Thanks for the response, but I think my issue is a little different. I have Stock ROM, didn't touch boot.img and my device have been charging for over 3 hours now.
ADB works, reboot bootloader doesn't work and takes me back to CWM recovery.
If my only option is flashing a ROM, that is what I'll do, but I'd like to avoid it.
Thanks

Sorry missed read that with you having CWM. Then you going to need to flash the stock recovery, I think the All-In-One Toolkit has it and then reset in bootloader but think you going to lose everything on the SD.

[Q] Bricked my phone!!!! :(

Hi everyone,
yesterday I wanted to load a custom ICS rom on my HTC Sensation XE. I did S-off the phone, got root access. I downloaded the firmware, rom, and a super wipe zip file for the new rom. Put them all on my sd card and flashed them.
After I flashed the wipe file and the rom the phone was booting up and couldn't go further than boot screen, so I tried several times, wiped the phone and etc.
After few times trying when i went to the recovery, it gave me a message to update and I said yes! I think I shouldn't cause after that it tried to update something in recovery and it failed, system reboot and phone shut down.
since then i can't even turn on the phone!!!! I've got battery charged nearly 80% so the problem is not the battery. Can any of you guys please help me?
So to clarify, it wont start when you press Vol down and Power on at the same time?
No nothing happens!!! like i can't do anything with it or even make it work to a point that I can restore my backed up firmware etc...
device manager detects it though, but cant install the driver....

Yeah it soundslikeyou have Becker it some how. You may want to check out this thread, that is if you want to Teutonic do it yourself. But be warned I annotated 100% sure this will work on your Sensation. The other option is to try for warranty exchange or find someone to JTAG your Sensation. I can put you in touch with someone that can JTAG it if all else fails and you don't mind sending your phone off for a two or three days.

well I think i did. Im really not sure as of now cause i did so many things to fix the issue and finally i got it broken completely! but right now the problem is i cant even trun on the phone to go to recovery and check if it is spercid or not!
Most probably you didn't delete the PG58IMG (firmware) from sd card after flashing firmware. So each time you reboot into bootloader it asks to update in a never ending loop.
Delete any PG58IMG from sd card and reboot bootloader then go to recovery and flash the rom.
Also, what rom you were trying to flash and what firmware? what is the version of your Hboot? 1.27?
Hope it helps

yes true, i had the zip file on the sdcard and when it booted up the last time, it asked me to update and I selected yes (and I think I shouldn't) since then I cant turn on the device at all. I just took the sdcard out and deleted the PG58IMG.zip file but still nothing happened!
I was trying to flash revolution HD rom 6.6.1 if i'm not mistaken. is there any way that I can check the version of my HBOOT now? cause I'm not sure if it was 1.27 or not (as far as I remember, it was)
Pull out and reinsert the battery?
Power on while keeping pressed volume down + power button doesn't work? It should bring you to the bootloader.
It doesnt matter if you updated twice or three times the same PG58IMG. It is important that it was the right one.
All bootloader flashable zips are named PG58IMG but the content might be different (firmware, recoveries, spashscreen and even full roms etc etc).
Also, did you install a custom recovery or not? it is necessary to have a custom recovery to flash any custom rom

follow this step by step, make sure u dont skip anything and when your phone is up and running dont forget to press the thanks button. if u need help along the way you can ask.
flashing file with bootloader is different from the custom rom.
flash 3.32 pg.. file approx 11-13 mb then without rebooting pull battery out and back in then reboot into recovery and flash the rom file and you are good to go.

How can the OP do this, the device will not even turn on to boot into fastboot or the bootloader therefore the instructions in the thread you linked are pretty much useless to the OP. It seems that the OP has hard bricked the device somehow, maybe fried the processor Blythe back to back flashes or fried the NAND memory with the back to back flashes, who really knows at this point. But right now my money is on JTAG or replacing the mainboard willbe the only fix.

he mentioned nothing about trying it with adb/sdk fastboot using command prompt,
i was in similar situation with my friends phone last week, after 3 days of searching and reading i finally followed that thread and now the sensation is running ordroid 2.1 rom. the buttons on the phone got disabled somehow. had to manually install drivers in device manager, like he mentioned that comp detects the phone. so before giving up adb/sdk is worth a try atleast in my case it was.

Bootloop problem. Cannot access recovery. Cannot restart.. One X

Hey
I just got a huge bootloop while attempting to flash new Venom Room to my HTC One X. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1868236
I cannot access the recovery.. After restart (power button+volume down) i can get to bootloader section, but when i try to get into recovery, the phone just restart and stop on the white htc screen.
I already tried to reinstall recovery. Installation was successful, but the problem persists..
Before i had Incert Coins room.
The phone is unlocked, new recovery is installed
Please, help
If you had Insert Coin working on your phone, you have an international (Tegra3) version of the One X. This forum (and the Venom ROM you linked) are for the Snapdragon S3 version. Completely different hardware.
If I'm correct, you flashed a ROM for the wrong phone. Try running the RUU for your phone, but if that doesn't work you may be screwed. Recovery partitions are not the same for the versions. The ROM overwrote the recovery partition of your phone.
You are right.. It WAS the wrong rom.. I have tegra3 processor and this rom comes from american section..
But - is the RUU reinstall only one thing what i can do? I heard its dangerous

RUU just returns your phone to the stock condition. Stock ROM and stock recovery. There should be nothing dangerous about it. Just use the right one for your version, carrier, etc. But the CID check should ensure that you don't run the wrong RUU (if RUU is for a different CID, the RUU will not run).
Only thing with RUU, is that it wipes all user data. That may be why you heard its "dangerous". But in the condition you are in, this is not even a consideration anymore.
RUU is not dangerous, and it may be your only hope at this point.
You will need to lock your bootloader before running the RUU.
I've relocked bootloop. But now there is an information "RELOADED, Security Warning"
Will be safe to flash stock RUU now?

ohh, its Relocked.. Im just a bit nervous right now hoping it will unbrick this phone..
Just 3min to complete RUU download.
Do U guys think this stock RUU will rewrite the partitions back?
I've noticed another problem.
Cannot load RUU because the battery level is lower then 30%.
But when i plug the charger the light doesnt flash. It starts to flash when i switch on the phone.
Also cannot switch the phone with the power button. It restart all the time. Only can do that from bootloader command "power down". But when the phone is off the power light doesnt flash..
Does it mean that the battery is not charging at all? Because the light can flash only because the power is low..
The phone shut down completly now.. Does not charge the battery at all.. Power gone off and i cannot even turn on the phone..
Is there any solution how to make it charge?
Ok, the problem is that the wrong ROM i tried to install changed partition and also it seems it destroyed Recovery..
Without recovery the phone cannot charge while being in bootloader mode...
Is there any way to make phone charging when Recovery doesnt work and cannot be flashed?
Please help
Take the phone apart. I mean all the way spart and hardwire a charger to the phone/ battery. Its a pain but you can do it.
Ohh..
I found a treat http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658084
There is a way to charge battery by running the script, which makes phone reinstalling constantly. Each time it is reinstalled, the battery is charged a little bit more.
After mayby 40min i went up from 3686 V to 3720 V.
It seems that my only hope is to reinstall RUU. I tried to flash wrong ROM, from wrong model and as one user wrote above, it has rewritten my partition. Same time it destroyed recovery.. I cannot flash recovery now because the partition is rewritten...
And without working recovery i cannot charge the battery being in bootloader.. If i understand it all correctly.
I already tried to install RUU with 3710 V. It started to install, but stopped after few min with information that battery is too low..
So i think ill leave this script running for a whole night, and hope, in the morning battery will be charged just enough to install RUU eventually..
Uff
Okey, finally its fixed..
After 7 hours of constant reinstalling the phone by the script, the battery was loaded enough to finish RUU instalation process.. (battery went to about 3830mV power)
After oryginal RUU was installed, everything went fine.
Now i already re-unlocked the bootloader, re-rooted the phone and all works correctly.
Thanks all people who helped. Mostly to redpoint73, who diagnosed the problem straight away and put me on the right track.
Amazingly impressive to me.
Thanks for following up with your success.

Your welcome, and no problem really. It was an easy problem to recognize, as I've seen it several times before on here.
Nice job getting the phone charged. Haven't seen that solution before.
Thanks people for not calling me a noob and not blaming for installing the wrong ROM. Even though it was a silly mistake..

[Q] Atrix 2 help!

Hi guys!
I tried searching for a similar problem that I have but wasn't able too. So I need your help here.
So I lost my CID, didn't back it up so was using bptools for it when I was on JB leak3.
1) I flashed CM11, 4.4.2 dated 14 Dec after flashing gapps, it removed my recovery and was bootlooping
2) I reflash the same leak3 which used to work earlier using RSDlite. Now the rom isn't booting i.e. it is stuck in it's "pumping logo".
3) I again try reflashing using RSDlite, only this time, it fails and status is shown as battery low in fastboot. Now I connect charger, it boots, stuck in the white screen which is expected since I lost my CID.
So, does this mean that it's charging? If not, am I screwed??

If fastboot says low battery then u cant RSD.....
Google Mcgruyver method or externally charge ur battery....( ie if you get a white led )
If your in india it shouldn't be a problem finding an external universal battery charger in any cell shop....

So u have to externally charge the battery
And from what i know u can't flash ICS once ur on the JB leak ie u can't downgrade so u will have to flash the same leak again......

BMM can be like that sometimes. There are a few possible ways that it could've happened. As long as you make a backup before trying anything, and have RSD lite and your FXZ handy it shouldn't be too much of a problem. It's more aggravating than anything else...

If he was getting the "pumping" Motorola logo boot animation, then he was only boot looping so he was able to charge the battery. The battery would've only been an issue if the phone was booting straight into fastboot, or if it wouldn't get past the boot logo.
Also you can downgrade from jb to ICS, just not from ICS to GB.
If I had a dollar for every time I said that, I'd be making money in a very weird way.

Hey!
IDK what was I thinking but I flashed pa 4.4.2 gapps on CM11 by altered and BOOM! Lost recovery and bootloop.
So I re-flashed leak 3 it's now stuck in boot animation("pumping"--again what was I thinking lol!) meaning a softbrick. Why is it happening? I mean is it a bad flash?
Or does it have something to do with leak 3? If so, I can't seem to find ics fxz. The superthread links are dead. My another question is-
Will I be able to us AT&T fxz? Since I've already lost my CID, it shouldn't be a problem right?
PROBLEMS PROBLEMS PROBLEMS!:silly:
Also, can anyone give me the link for asian version of ICS?
EDIT- Was able to boot! went to stock recovery, wiped data and cache partition. Thanks for help guys

If you ever want to use the JB leaks again, DO NOT flash the AT&T FXZ. Just a forewarning just in case you get stuck again and start considering it.

OMG you're right! Never thought of that! Thank God I acted patiently here. I was gonna flash AT&T ics just before trying that wiping data thing!
Thanks! Will keep that in mind.
One more question though(and hopefully the last..)
Can I flash PA Gapps on slimkat? Since both are based on AOSP right?
i guess i've a problem . by mistake while i was supposed to backup cid , i chose the option erase cid and it s deleted, no backup either. now whenever i reboot, my phone shows some error. since i've bmm i am being able to load into ics in system 1 . is there any possible way to get rid of this error message about cid during startup?? because it is really annoying.

Ugh am I bricked?

I've been flashing custom roms to my asus transformer for a couple years now so I'm fairly accustomed to the process. Now that my warranty has expired on my one s I decided to go custom to try and get a bit more battery life and performance from my phone.
steps I took:
unlocked bootloader successfully
installed twrp successfully
installed su and rooted successfully
changed to supercid successfully
S-off unsuccessful. I wasnt paying as much attention as I should have and for whatever reason I thought I had s-off
flashed maximushd rom
then attempted to flash the kernel for maximus obviously didnt work because I had s-on
then I was stuck at the point where my phone was basically a black screen and all I could do is get the buttons on the bottom of the screen to flash. Eventually I made it into the bootloader, twrp was gone or corrupted. Managed to reinstall twrp from fastboot and get it working.
within twrp I was able to push a rom into the internal sd and flash it (cant remember which one atm). phone restarted and was then stuck in a 30ish second bootloop of the htc quietly brilliant screen. tried a couple other roms which wouldnt flash. at this point I went home (i dont have a computer at my house, just android based tablet and xbmc box).
At home I got the idea the roms i'm trying to flash might not be compatible with hboot 2.15. I downloaded and tried older roms that would match my hboot of 2.15. Varying success on these but still unable to boot to phone os.
Here is what ive tried and what results i had with them:
zenrom_v1.05_2.31RUUbased.zip = Wont flash just gives failed message
Toasted_marshmellow-ville.zip = This one flashed, reboot phone goes past htc screen to the custom boot.img then endlessly replays the .gif (highly disaapointed at this point)
mdob_ville_bm_deodex_2.40.zip = phone stays off and can only get lights to flash if i hold power
Blackout_ics_sense_plus_RC2.zip = phone hangs on white htc screen
Anyone got any idea where I can go from here? Am i hooped or am I just missing something obvious?

Ended up bringing my phone to a shop which fixed it and installed a new power button as my old one was shot for $65. One thing he did which pissed me off though is install cm 10.1 instead of maximushd like i asked him. not that big of a deal but my signal is horrible now. with stock I used to get 2-3 bars in my rom now im lucky to get 1, and infront of my house where i constantly had full sigal i'm lucky to get 2 or 3 with drops of no signal and dropped calls. Is this because of the rom or the radio? Tried the ota update to 10.2 which freezes the phone on startup, then had to go back and get him to reflash the rom again. its a 10min walk each way and I'm tired of walking back and forth in the rain!

You don't need to be s-off to install custom rom's like cyanogenmod but you will need to flash boot.img after the rom is flashed.

Getting into TWRP from soft brick

Greetings. I found myself in a situation of being stuck at Alcatel splash screen after rebooting following a flash. Phone wouldn't respond to adb/fastboot commands, or upgrade tool. I kept powering off, and rebooting holding combo of power, vol up, down, and both. Finally after several tries, it booted into TWRP! I wish I could say it was a particular combo, but it was just repetition of power off, and combo of power/ vol buttons. Was able to do this twice with this "method". I have 60450 (Cricket). This Phone doesn't respond how I am used to getting into download (power+vol down), or recovery (power+vol up) Hope this helps if you find yourself in a similar situation.
I've developed an issue as well. I can get into twrp just fine and all is fine there but any combination of ROM or kernel even stock makes my phone reboot every 2-5 minutes. Last night after messing around with a few cm builds and then going back to stock after I couldn't get the phone to cool down..... Stock no longer wanted to cool down either. It's been running way to hot so I turned it off for the night. Turn it back on today and same issues. It even restarts on the powered off battery charging screen , I took it a step further and deleted system, data, cache, and internal storage as well as removing my external sd so no ROM or files was on it at all and it still wanted to reboot at the charging screen! Only place it doesn't is in TWRP. I'm not sure if it's a battery safety issue because it's noticing how hot the device is but I was proven wrong with that too, put it in the freezer for 3 mins and it rebooted then too lol. I'm not sure what to do as even download mode reboots. Wtf. Idk if maybe there's some stock files I could attempt to flash through adb? Can anyone help?
have you tried to flash some stock rom? there is a thread around here which has some twrp backups on stock roms. maybe it helps to get into download mode and repair the phone with the Q.

Just did. Damn i thought for sure it was the answer, but nope, the phone has rebooted 3 times since i just restored the backup from that thread 20 mins ago. It feeezes for a sscond and then will reboot. Whats even worse is it soemtimes doesent let me charge the phone when powered down. Instead of showing the charging battery screen it just boots up into Android. Its highly annoying. I can get into download mode, it just won't stay there.
that suxx. did you unlocked the bootloader? maybe you should relock it.... it's just an idea, really don't have any more idea

Thanks. Unfortunately it didn't work. No matter what I do the phone reboots out of DL mode during the process and ruins it. I'm at My wits end with this phone. Have never had this many issues before. I've done everything. I even used the backup from that old thread to restore stock for 6450. All should've been well but I got reboots even on stock at 90% charged. What's very strange is the only thing I can do to keep this from rebooting is use YOUR kernel from the latest Flyme ROM. No idea why but reboots are minimal with it. They still happen but a lot less. All other ROMs and kernels have issues.

I found him a flashable stock that he got to work. Part of, if not all, of his problem is I think he only has access to a sub-par pc or tablet or something. Anyway, I remember when I didn't know how important it is to have patience and not freak out, and quite a few people had the patience for me , and guided me. I learned. Perhaps this is where he is at. I post things that I have run into, and figured out to try and repay the kindness shown to me. He was trying on his own to figure it out, and that is WAY better than people who don't even try to search, and expect others to do everything for them. This is a community, and just like life, people are at different places. As long as someone is trying, I will try to help if I can. You can't send a rooted phone running CM for warranty.
EDIT: Turns out the reason the upgrade app wasn't working is because i didn't have enough space for the update to download on the PC . I didn't realize because the app never stated why it was restarting my phone or disconnecting so I just assumed it was related to why my phone kept restarting on all ROMs. Wow lol I feel so damn stupid for not thinking of this 2 days ago. Its installing now and hopefully this fixes my reboot issues. Thanks to everybody here for helping and answering my 1000 question's on every post. Really appreciate it.

Hey......we all get flustered and forget the basics sometimes. Plus, for me, this phone doesn't respond like all the HTC, Nexus, and Samsung phones I've rooted and modded. That, and the insistence for every carrier/region to have their own variant, even on these cheaper phones. The T-Mobile Note 3 and 4 were even different depending on whether you had the black or white one! Hope this gets you back to normal, and if you don't have an SD card, at least get a cheap 8gb, and keep a stock backup on it. I've had that be a lifesaver more than once. Good luck my friend, and maybe stick to stock rooted? Lol

All is back to normal, no reboots. I do have an SD card and did have a backup the thing is though I accidentally saved another back up over the original with custom kernel so it was useless lol. And oddly the reboots sort of stopped happening right before but I was using the custom kernel from Flyme which is the only one that seemed to be working. I'm hoping that the issue is with root and not a hardware one from the phone getting to hot flashing things.
