Replacement battery cover - Galaxy S6 Accessories

My back glass broke about 2 weeks after getting my S6 so I ordered a new one from Amazon. It's metal so I'm not certain it will work with wireless charging but aesthetically it always to be far superior. The metal is more durable and it doesn't pick up fingerprints as easily as the original

Do you have a link to this one?

it looks good, is it hard to install? have u tried the Wireless Charger yet?

http://www.amazon.com/BB-Mall-Samsu...ds=metal++battery+cover+for+samsung+galaxy+s6 maybe it is this one.

I have the same question ... how easy is it to replace? what are the tools needed?
the fonts look a little weird though

Sorry for the slow response, never got an email. The replacement back linked in FireOnHigh's post is where I got mine. They come with the adhesive already in place. You just need a deck of cards, a heat gun and a guitar pick. I was really liberal when I applied the heat to the back and the phone was not damaged. It's similar to changing the front glass in other devices. Total time was about 15 minutes. I have not yet tried to wireless charge; as soon as I do, I will post my results.

If it is actually metal, dont expect NFC or wireless charging to work
It might also affect wifi and mobile signal strength.

Reviews on Amazon say the wireless charging does not work.

Well that sucks. Oh well. Not getting it then unless it works. Need my wireless charging

Signal doesn't appear to be effected by the cover. Still haven't used wireless charging or NFC. I don't see myself ever using wireless charging because I love the convienece (speed) of the fast charger.

Cheap ebay magnetic charger cable isn't that great!

I bought a couple of these from ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151247910444?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
The USB plug end is huge, and the magnet is very weak. It's OK if you leave it flat on the desk, but picking the phone up means it's more than likely going to fall off.
I'd be wary of this kind if you're thinking of getting one.
I'd like one with a very strong magnet so that I can plug it into a USB battery pack and leave it in my pocket without wondering whether the magnet connector has fallen off.
Any suggestions?
I also bought such a cable. Mine is actually pretty good so far. Magnet power is good enough and the overall cable is just as good as a standard Sony cable. And only 3 euros incl. shipping.

I don't think you will have any luck finding one like that, as the connector was never designed to be used as a stand alone cable, it was always meant to be inside a charging stand/dock. Even if the magnet is very strong when pulling straight out from the connector (like being able to lift the phone with it) it will still come off super easy if pulled at an angle.
Maybe you could buy a cheap dock, then cut some in it so that all that is left will be like a clamp that goes around the edge of the phone and holds the cable steady? Or maybe some cheap case where you can glue tha connector to the case and only use it when charging?
Are they no official magnetic charger available? Isn't anyone here using?

I That's given me an idea, perhaps these cables with some Sugru so that it aligns to the edge of the handset might do the trick!
Yup, I complained about the weakness of the magnet and got my money back from the eBay seller

The only official magnetic charger is the DK32 charging dock. The cables that most people buy are the same cables that is inside the dock, but it's impossible to know whether they are original parts or just copies since Sony doesn't officially sell that cable as a separate unit. The ones that sellers claim to be originals could very well only be meant as replacement parts or a simple way for phone repair shops to charge the phones.
The magnet is weak and actually takes some effort to get it to align, I was hoping that it would suck itself in like a MagSafe connector does. It also charges at about 70% the speed of the original USB charging cable even when connected to the same ipad wallwart.
I'm unimpressed with my knock-off cable but for the price, I can accept the mediocre quality.

Well I paid 15 for mine (bought from a retailer) and they don't do refunds.
Lesson learnt...
What do you expect from such a small magnet? Imo it's quite strong already. I got this cable, which doesn't have a stronger magnet but aligns better, and it's cheap - I'm from Germany though: http://www.ebay.de/itm/-/291037184668
I also have the one the op has, with that one the phone started charging but it was so slow that it never finished. Modifiying the plastic and pins didn't help.
Not sure if it fits here, as my cable was not bought through ebay...
I got the OEM Magnetic Charging USB Cable for Sony Xperia Smartphone Black with Sony logo on the magnetic plug and it doesn't look too good: cheap to the looks and touch. The cable is thinner and feels flimsy compared to the USB charging cable that came stock with the phone. The magnet holds so-so but won't do too well when grabbing the phone, answering a call or whatever. The USB plug is huge, feels and looks cheap as well and can't be fully inserted into the charger; a bit of the metal part will stick out, that is.
I didn't do a full charge so far, so, can't commend on that part. I didn't measure the time but from what it felt like, the magnetic cable charges pretty fast - I'd say about the same rate as the stock micro USB cable (both with stock wall socket charger). But pay attention if you move the phone; the magnetic plug comes off really easy and might cause some bad surprise the next morning (the moment you wake up and notice your phone died on you and didn't wake you up ... about 2 hours ago, which was about an hour before you should've left to go to work and so on).
Now, if I'm not mistaken, witrigs says somewhere on their site that there would be huge difference between the Original OEM  cable and the cheaper 3rd party ones the also offer. Honestly, I can't imagine the really cheap ones are much worse (as far as look & feel and usability goes).
I bought two of the following a few weeks back (for work and home) and overall am quite happy. The magnet is reasonably strong - I can lift the phone to check an email etc without it falling off - not sure about a phone call with it attached though...

The magnetic ability is okay, not very strong but if you let the phone on your desk, it´s no problem.
I don´t know if a stronger magnet can damage the phone.
I placed a cable of this in my car-holder and fixed it with a little point of glue and there´s no problem with vibrations while driving.
And also good at this cable:
You can not reverse polarities!
I hope i could help you.

I did. But I am in Europe, so, it doesn't say anything about shipping within Asia.
However, for my order, delivery took about 2 weeks, which is pretty fast compared to most of my previous orders from China (usually 3 to 4 weeks without the customs interfering).

Wireless Charging Phone Sleeve

Guys, I'm going to be launching a wireless charging phone sleeve on Kickstarter in January. The unique selling point will be the Smart app that communicates with the sleeve.
I'm doing research for the launch now to determine which phones to support. If you guys could just share your thoughts that'd be great.
Namely:
Will you as a Samsung Galaxy s5 user invest in a new phone sleeve
Why do you/ dont you use existing portable chargers like powerbanks and Qi chargers
If you know any cool portable wireless chargers
I myself use a Nexus 4 with Qi built in but I haven't found a satisfactory wireless charging solution yet... that's kinda why I worked on my own. Thanks!
Looks very interesting. I'll be keeping an eye on this one.
Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Like it, but will it work with the phone in a case?
Thanks guys! So i take it you will be theoretically willing to get a phone sleeve for the s5? Yes it will work with your existing cases because i'm choosing stretchable materials for ampere, except maybe otterboxes, and the case also has to work with Qi wireless charging. I think lots of cases will espc since we're using a bigger coil.

I use wireless charging and I own power banks. Powerbanks are mostly annoying because of keeping up with cords. But it would be nice to have a small flip put Micro USB and USB for charging and discharging to devices that don't have wireless charging (like my fiancees phone) . Also, I haven't bought a current qi bank because of the fact I can't throw my phone in my pocket and just let it charge. Your solution, depending on the price and size, seems to take care of those concerns for me. I would definitely consider buying it.

YES that problem with portable Qi chargers is exactly what happened to me. I ended up bringing along a wire anyway so my phone could charge in the bag. Thanks for reminding me about that and for the support.

Yup, I personally have a Nexus 4 and was super-hyped to try wireless charging, only to find that most Qi products are absolutely rubbish beyond the novelty.
That's why I designed the sleeve to fix a lot of the heat dissipation, durability, looks, portability and alignment issues that plague Qi products. Please do leave your email on the website if you're interested! I'll contact you again just before launch in January.
make this a +1 for me also im IN .
If it will stretch to fit the Commuter Wallet, I'd think about dropping coin on it if the price is reasonable. My QI receiver works through the wallet case so that shouldn't be a problem. I personally find it much easier to carry a spare fully charged battery or two when the situation calls for it.

Actually, I wouldn't recommend you use wireless charging with wallets at that kind of proximity. It might interfere with your credit cards' magnetic strips.

Guys, thanks for the product validation thus far. Now, I need your feedback on the optional app. Here are the proposed features:
I'm doing research for the launch now to determine what features to incorporate in this app:
Display estimated battery life in hrs of phone and ampere
Control when charging starts
find your phone or ampere when one is missing
notifications to recharge at time or location
What other features would you like to see? I've recently posted in the S5 and Nexus 5 forums too, and I've been told not to dilute the product, which I agree with heartily. These are the features I've narrowed it down to. What other things do you think we need to bake in? It will probably be open to developers post-Kickstarter.
Feel free to check the product out over at http://kickstarter.novelsys.co.

I like it. I'll probably get one when you release it. I like the locator function as well. Does it have a wireless charging receiver also? (for charging the unit that is.)
I just went to amazon and bought the fonesalesman receiver and koolpad installed in 10 seconds and it works perfect. And I have one of the thickest phone cases from element case the recon pro.
I also bought a Qi charger for the car ...
After a week of using this I have put koolpad's in two other rooms in the house. It just works slick,
How would your sleeve work would I still be able to use any case I wanted ? This is a must, I must have the freedom to choose what case I want to use ?

Not any case I'm afraid. It should fit most soft cases and slim hard cases. It's really on a case by case basis. (see where I did there?) by Kickstarter, our testing will be more rigorously completed and I'll be able to say exactly to what thickness case Ampere can tolerate.

I'm afraid you'll have to charge Ampere via a MicroUSB. There's less benefit to charging Ampere wirelessly than your phone though.
So what do I need to fit on my phone to use this wirelessly?

Qi+NFC+AT&T G3, no hardware hacking.

Greetings!
Like many of you (or so I've read) I was on the hunt for some way to get my AT&T G3 to support Qi charging. It all seemed hopeless. I believe I have solved the problem with the least amount of 'hassle' and the least amount of loss of functionality of the phone as possible (its cheap too!). You also don't even need to open your phone up.
I have Qi chargers all over the place already from my last phone, so Qi was crucial to adopting the G3 and not swapping it for something else (AT&T had a great deal and it was free on a new phone line).
I found a gadget that basically has 1 downside, that being, that it consumes your USB port. For me that's not a huge deal because I never plug my phone into anything other than a charger, and with Qi, no need. I've seen people talk about it on here before, but couldn't find any cases where someone bought one.
( sorry, I don't post enough, can't do posts with links )
The device is here: Search on Amazon for B00H7FJX7M
$9.96 at the moment.
HOWEVER, there is a BIG DOWNSIDE at first! If you put the Qi receiver inside your phone behind the outer shell, the existing NFC antenna squashes the signal and it won't charge.
I have a Spigen case for the G3 like my Nexus5 (great cases IMHO), so I said "well what if I just leave the cover off", so I did, and put the Spigen case back on. It worked. At first I was going to leave it, since it still fit fine in the case like that. I thought more about it though and realized dust and other badness would get into the phone if I did that.
So I wondered if I just put the wireless antenna OUTSIDE of the phone, so between the Spigen case and the phone itself, run the USB cable down to the USB port, tape it in place so it doesn't move around...
It totally worked. So no need to even open the phone. Just plug this thing into the USB port, line it up well inside the back of a case/cover, tape it down with some heat resistant tape, and put your case on.
With the Spigen case you can barely even see it, and it certainly does not protrude beyond the border of the case. Even without the Spigen case on with this thing, the extra plastic sticking out is very minimal and hardly noticeable.
I was pretty happy with this at that point, and left it alone.. But then I wondered, does NFC still work? Its being blocked now by the Qi module, AND the Spigen case.. I wonder...
NFC works fine still too.
Cost:
$10 for the module
$20 for the Spigen case
0% hardware modification
Loss of functionality:
- Requires a case, so added weight/bulk
- USB port is not usable for anything else, though can be pulled out relatively easily when necessary without taking anything apart.
Sorry for the length, I tend to be a windbag.

Sadly moving to PMA wasn't an option for me simply because I have other Qi devices still, and didn't want to spend the money on a bunch of new chargers.

Have you done tests to see how fast it charges? I already have a module that I used with my moto x before but never used it with the g3. I remembered it took forever with the moto x and that had a smaller battery.

Indeed I have done testing, but not "scientific testing", more "real world" testing (basically I've been using it for 2 days ).
So far, the rate that it charges seems pretty close to what I've grown to expect from the Nexus 5. Hard to say how fast it goes from 0% to 100%, as I rarely if ever have my phone go below 40% (since I have a Qi charger almost everywhere I go, even in the car).
So far though, if at 100% and put on the charger, it stays at 100% with the screen off, if a GPU intensive DayDream is running with the screen on, the battery does drain a bit but at a very slow rate (perhaps 2-3% per hour).
Last night I put it on the charger at around 70% battery, and it was 100% in under an hour, which is about what I see with my Nexus 5 as well.
Hmm I don't really use nfc... Is there any issues fit issues with installing this inside the battery door? Or does it not charge even if nfc is off?

Installing it inside will and probably still add a slight bulge. These wireless chips are not paper thin. You have coils and ribbons so it will be thick.

Actually this particular wireless antenna is very thin and fits just fine behind the battery door, the problem is the NFC antenna actually keeps the wireless charging antenna from even working, so when you put it inside the battery door on an AT&T G3, it simply won't charge due to the NFC antenna causing interference.
Hey thanks! so it must be outside the case then. I read in the Amazon reviews that this receiver only charges at 500 mah, and some phones will interpret this as USB charging and charge slower. How do you find the charging speed?

No sadly the d850 uses the PMA technology which I have no idea why.. It sucks because the PMA coil makes a bulge when installed and its hard to get it right... I have a back plate with it but barely use it. My extended mugen battery does the trick.

We have a special PMA OEM case. We also have these stickers for the DIYers, but they'll leave a slight bulge on the battery cover.
At least the official LG cases are coming down in price. They cost $20 to $30 more two weeks ago when I bought my G3.

I have two Qi chargers and I really don't want to buy a Powermat - So I will probably give this a try. However before I do, I have a question
- Did LG make a hardware change to disable "Qi" and enable "PMA" or this is just a firmware thing? To elaborate is it possible to flash Tmobile firmware and get Tmobile Qi back cover make "Qi" work?

It might not....the LG PMA case was around $50 iirc. It's only $30 now. Might be a different product or they're out of our PMA cases. Just get a sticker if you really need PMA. Personally, I'm a bit worried about it frying my phone (had a really unlucky past year with electronics being fried).

I've had this PowerBot for a while and it works fine. Price varies a bit depending on the color your want. It may not be the fastest, but I'm OK with that as it does not get the phone too hot either.

I bought one of these based on comments on XDA, and bought two more after confirming that it is excellent. Each unit has 3 coils, so it reliably charges the phone in numerous different positions. It is grippy on both the top and bottom, so it snuggly holds the phone and stays securely on the table-top. It is small, but not too small -- the width is the same width of the phone and the length is about 75% of the phone's length. I always place my phone flush on the surface with the camera bump hanging off the top of the charger, and it charges beautifully. Finally, it causes no considerable heat and no whine or noise of any kind.
A couple things to note: (1) It does not come with a USB wall wart. It only has the charging pad and a micro-usb cable. (2) It does not work with Samsung's fast charging USB wall wart (not sure why). (3) There is a blue LED that lights up when it's activated, which might bother some people (I've covered mine with electrical tape).
What's wrong with the suggestions in the other threads?
@eyc, I'm using a metal bumper case, does it still work with the case on?
BTW, it looks just like what I want, simple and attractive.

I couldn't tell you because I haven't tried...and I don't have a metal case to test it. My wife has an S6 with a thin silicone case and, as you would expect, it works perfectly fine with that. I have an S6-edge, and I keep it bare. While I don't have personal experience with a metal bumper case, I can only speculate that this charger will work as good as the best in light of the 3 coil system. Good luck.

Someone else made a thread about this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/accessories/best-wireless-charger-galaxy-s6-t3101501
I personally have the official one from Samsung. Works fine and haven't had issues with it. Use it for both S6 and S3 (yeah, I still use it as my media player when I'm at home, so I'm not eating up battery on the S6)

It looks nice, what case are you using? I have a metal bumper case, do you have a metal case to test for me? Thanks, dude.:laugh::laugh:
@Daniel323la, Hey, guys, actually I have bought one from ebay , I just used the link shared by Daniel323la, thanks dude.
The shipping is amazing, it came this afternoon. One pic for you, BTW , this charger work with my metal bumper case perfectly, and you can't beat the price at this quality.

Forgot the pic. Here it goes. It will flash blue light once you connect it to the power, and it will only flash one time to indicate that the power is on and no other led light at all, so it won't disturb you even put it in your bedroom, love it so much.

I have this one as well, I agree is is excellent, I had a spare HTC 2 Amp charger plug that works great with this wireless charger. This charger gives off very little heat and charges fine through my Otterbox case.

I tried the metal "Platinum" cases from BestBuy and none of my 4 Qi chargers could charge through it. The metal definitely seems to interfere.
EDIT: When you say "metal bumper", do you mean only the edge is metal, like the Spigen Hybrid Pro? If so then of course that metal would NOT interfere.

Yes, that's what I mean. I don't have a full metal case to test for you, sorry can't help you.
This charger works very good so far, It charges very fast even with a tpu case on.

What a pity, someone likes leds, it can indicate you while charging, but if you want to use it in bedroom, no light will be better. The charger I bought only
ship to us and Canada:crying:
You can choose the 3 coil based wireless charger by CHOETECH as I am using it from last 1 month without facing any problem. There is no need for alignment as the Galaxy S6 starts charging when it gets in contact with any of these 3 coils. I bought it from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JA7HNZO/

LG V10 OEM Wireless Charging Back in today..............A few pictures.

Got in the LG OEM wireless charging back today for the V10. It is of very nice quality and maybe only a hair thicker then stock back, very hard to tell. I don't think there will be any problem fitting into standard cases.
I got it for the everyday low price of $79.00 plus shipping from Amazon.
Only has LG and not V10 on the back corner.
I've add a few pictures showing it side by side with the stock back.
Very cool but also a bit pricey but it's LG oem so your gonna pay a bit more bought a cheap back cover from china with wireless charging that works well only paid about 15 bucks it has a leather back and the fit isn't quite as good as the stock back if you have the money I would definitely get the one you picked
I've used both Yootech and OEM. OEM charges quite a bit quicker and with less heat.
Thanks to the OP's for the information and photo's.
It isn't going to be much different in the quality of the charging, the only different is the built quality, the QI and PMA circuit (PCB) is in the phone, the back cover only contains the coil to complete the wireless charging part.
The current coil use for both the OEM and third party is a flexi coil, isn't the best, it's used because it's thin, I'm going to mod mine when I get the V10 within the week, and put a proper copper strand wire coil, has better detection, less heat and less transmission loss.
I have a few types of coils made especially for wireless charging, and will post back.
you can just buy the Qi receiver sticker for less than $10 and apply yourself.. why would anyone buy this for that price?

That doesn't make sense, the charging hardware is already built into the v10, 3rd party including OEM is just a coil and connection to the pins. Which should not make a difference in charging speed or heat. Only thing that might affect that is placement and alignment of the back of your v10 to the charging pad..
What are you using to determine charging speed and heat?
EDIT: Attached is my Brown Leather Back with NFC/Qi sticker. (btw is that the British way of spelling chargeing?) I've also ordered NeWisdom's sticker, will review once I get it in and on.
Where did you get the leather charging back from? Is it much thicker then the stock back? Please let me know how the NeWisdom sticker works out. Was going to order one also.

You are correct to a certain point, both OEM and third party uses a flexi coil with a flexi magnet, the quality of these also determine the detection and aligment.

There on eBay just search connection station on eBay around $15 four different colors there slightly thicker than the stock back you can tell the difference by the volume buttons but not too bad a fit though
I just received my leather back with wireless charging from eBay today and it's not charging at all, is there some setting I need to turn on? I'm using an official Samsung qi charger btw.

There are no special settings that I'm aware of.
I'm fairly irritated at LG for the glacial speed at which they're releasing official accessories for the v10 . . .
Now that that's out of the way, I bought this: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B017R40JRA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
It's already unavailable (which isn't terribly surprising). It is just a little too thick, which pops the case up a bit over my power/volume buttons (so they're annoying to use). Also, it's pretty much stopped working. I might try to realign the thing, but it worked fine for both NFC and Qi (TYLE Vu) for the first week or so. Now it doesn't reliably charge (though NFC continues to function).
All-in-all, I'd rather pay for an OEM cover, where I SHOULD have to worry less about alignment and having a poor fit.
I'm curious about the NeWisdom though . . .

I liked the wireless charging on my nexus 6 so when i bought the V10 i had to get wireless charging working on it so i bought the leather qi/nfc back for $15 of eBay (connection station) and it works very well with the Anker qi little disc charger i bought off Amazon but the leather back doesn't fit exactly as good as the stock back there's that little gap by the volume buttons you described but worth it to have the wireless charging working
Yeah, I'm going to give it a few weeks--hopefully the stock one will come out (a more reasonable price would be nice too), or someone will come up with a back cover that's a better fit. A guy can dream, right?

GSM and the fact that it literally takes twice as long with the Yootech. So a watch is what I'm using to determine the speed. It can and does make sense as it depends on the conduction of the materials used. If yootech uses different metal composition in the coil then it gives off more heat energy and doesn't charge as fast. Welcome to physics.

That looks pretty nice. Check out my cart here, you can see all my goodies. I'm going with an off brand Spigen clone because I like to use my phone wile it's on the dock and this one looks more stable for that.
I am planning to go with the Yootech back cover. Hopefully it's wont cause the phone to get warm like some others seem to be saying...
For the OEM back, is it able to trickle charge at 100%? On my Nexus 5 at 100% it would just trickle charge and stay connected and cool while keeping the battery full. With my qi leather back I got, it hits 100 disconnects and then reconnects in an endless cycle randomly waking my phone up and keeping it warm. Sometimes my Tylt clone will just shut off completely from the cycling which isn't conducive to having a topped off phone for overnight charging.
