how does sview (cover) work with S6? - Galaxy S6 Accessories

Hey Guys,
i now own a S6, and i wanted to know how Sview is working???
cause i bought a case and there is no sview screen....
i had a S4 before, and there is a hall sensor near the vol down button. if i put a magnet here, i can test sview.
S6 (phone *#0*#) tells me there are 2 hall sensors.
but when i put 2 magnets there, there is no sview screen....
also the mother of my girlfriend (is it called mother in law to me?) has a S3 mini (i think) and there also siew isnt working...
is there a menu a have to activate sview (like i had to do with my s4) within my S6 and S3 mini?
Thank you all!

Hi mate,
the s-view cover is working quite well with the s6 BUT the original samsung s-view cover scratches your screen!
It is the same problem as with the clear-view cover. The hard plastic is sitting directly on the display and if dust or sand comes between you have scratches all over the screen! :crying:
If you have a original samsung cover then you can activate it in the settings under "accessories". If you have a 3rd party cover you will have to download a 3rd party app to use it as it can not use the magnetic trigger (afaik) - this app use the proximity sensor mostly.
hope it helps..

Hi!
Thank you!
I have a Screen protection on the phone. so i hope there will be no scratches...
does the sview cover using the proximity sensor or hall sensor?
with magnet like the S4 does?
Can you tell me where i can find the proximity sensor?
i have no menu called accessories!?
That´s why i´m asking all the questions.
i know from s4 there is an accessorie menu, and i have to activete sview there.
but i can´t find this on s6!
and i want to know more Details how sview cover works.
Thank you

If I'm not mistaken, since Galaxy S5 Samsung has integrated Samsung ID chipset in their original S-View case. Therefore, if you want to use S-View function either buy original S-View case or get a clone S-View case with chipset built-in.
Currently, S-View for S6 has 2 approaches. One is install case owned app & another is clone case with chipset. Else, it won't work even with magnet attached on the case only like Galaxy S4.

Ah!
O.K. Thank you!
there is a special chip.
additional Question:
The S4 SView Case has a (don´t know how to say it in englisch...) small part with a magnet that keeps the case closed.
And the S6 Cover doesn´t have it.
how does it keep closed???
I think if it will be often opened and closed, then it won´t fit after a few "days"...

S6 doesn't accept "add-on" chipsets!

Sorry to revive a year-old thread but there is no way for the Galaxy S6 which is a sealed phone with a glass back to accept a "CHIPSET" to activate S-View capability. I have an S5 which I no longer use and an S6 which I've had for nearly a year. The S5 with the OEM inductive charging back included the S-View chip (although the back didn't have the cover attached). The S6 which is a sealed phone with no removable back cover, does not allow installation of add-on chipsets.

I think your mobile may get scratches on screen if you don't use screen guard.

If its anything like lg quik circle case it works of magnets

There are no magnets that hold the cover shut, but it stays shut by itself most if the time. When the cover is installed, a menu pops up and asks you to update the accessory. It may be done with a NFC chip, but am not sure. You need a screen protector on to keep the screen scratch free

on the lgs its a small magnet in the case not to hold it shut but it trips the sensor that only displays a portion of the screen. its highly unnoticable. and again if its like lgs quite small. if it run through the nfc wouldnt it mess with the wireless charging to?

The wireless charging is not affected with the samaung and belkin pad. Somewhere I read it recognised the case by nfc, but after some more research, there are 4 small magnets in the front cover

I'm guessing you're in Asia. The Book Cover isn't being released in the EU and US until later this month so I doubt there will be a lot of people that can help you.

The "official" Book Cover a lot of us are waiting for has magnets in it too. So I'm guessing it's not the magnet itself but where it's hitting your Note.
I just took a small neodymium magnet (very strong) and ran it over the entire front, back and around the edges of my Note 10 and nada. Didn't wake it up. It did, however, stick to the speaker magnets.

Was you S-pen in its slot at the time? If so, maybe take it out then try again, just to see what happens?

[Q] Does the magnetic flap affects the screen?

hey all,
I bought a cover with a magnet to hold the flap when the cover closed.
now the question is, will it affects the screen or damage anything in the tab?

it might or might not affect the screen but it will definitely affect the Galaxy Tab 7.7's magnetic sensors/internal compass

affects it as a damaging effect, or just when i remove the cover it will work normal again?
and i'm talking on the long period of usage the cover.
most covers in the market nowdays uses magnetic flap to close the cover as i think

Affect as in it will affect its operation, it cannot tell the which direction is north since there is a magnet near it.
As for damage concerns, maybe you can ask Samsung support regarding and share their response to us :fingers-crossed:
One thing to look at is that I have never seen an official Samsung case with a magnetic latch.
I've discovered that Samsung itself made some pouches with magnet on it
I have a magnetic flap for about a month now and it didn't damage the device Nor the screen, but it definitely affects the compass.

[Q] Note 12.2 stylus / screen problems .. help needed

hi ..just got my note 12.2 from pc world .. was actually undercutting amazon so couldn't resist
anyway ... the bottom of the screen about 3 inches in when you try to draw a straight line you get a curved line and in two directions so its almost forming a circle of some kind .. ive just tested my stylus and my girlfriends edge sylus and mine of my note and it is doing the same thing .. however when you use your finger the curving of the lines does not happen ... so its obviously stylus related at this point of the screen only
has anyone run into this problem and do they know how to fix it .... or do i need to take this tablet back to the retailer as faulty ?? does something need to be calibrated ?? i havent seen an option to calibrate
picture attached of what its doing
Are you're using a case that has a magnet? If the answer is yes, take it off.
The Spen uses a magnetic sensor. Anything with a magnet in it will interfere with the pen.

Thank you for your information on that one .. i take exposure would not cause any permanent damage as lots of cases are magnetic ??
of course thats annoying as i bought the case to protect the note .. from possible drop damage and now i cant really use it much when drawing on the note now ... this one has a bluetooth keyboard so was quite nice from amazon
anyway thanks a lot there my girlfriend and i were panicking .. lol
the magnets are a top flap magnet to keep the case shut with the keyboard and i think one at the back that holds the back stand in place
What case is it exactly?

Auto on off not working with flip wallet case by Samsung

Is there any settings to do to use the auto on off feature when you close and open the genuine Samsung wallet flip case , my note edge is on stock lollipop .
Thanks
If it is genuine it should work. I have it and it works automaticly. If the flip case is not original, you should use smart cover app from playstore.
It is genuine one , bought from amazon , but mine is not doing auto on of if I close or open the flip
It's working now , had to reboot the phone (turn off and then on ) it's working now , is there any way of changing the blue lines around the clock when the case is shut ???
Note Edge Flip Wallet is Not Black but Grey
It says Black on the package, but it is Grey.
I've seen others mention the same and I looked at a few more in the AT&T store.
They are all Grey that say black.
I wished it was Black and not Grey

You can change clock style in edge settings.
I have a genuine Samsung note edge flip cover with sensor, and recently I bought a third party cheap flip cover without a sensor. I want to remove this sensor from the genuine one. Is this possible and can someone help?
Just pop it off, it held with stickey double sided tape

Do let us know if popping it off from the original and putting it in the duplicate one still renders the same result.
If you flip cover for android or S9 is not turning off or on screen
When you put on the cover then turn off or restart your phone. It will start working and you can customise what to show on locked screen by settings >advanced features >accessories.
Accessories will aprear sometimes only after you use any acessory and restart phone.

Nokia 5 flip case that works with hall sensor

The other thread seems be more about non-flip cases.
Has anybody succeeded in finding a flip case that uses the hall sensor. I am talking about cases that typically have a small round magnet somewhere that activate the hall sensor. This turns on and turns off the display automatically (on flip open/close).
I bought one off amazon: https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B074M9RHZV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The case is OK. But, it does not trigger the hall sensor.
I tried taking a small magnet near the phone, around the bezel. No reaction from the phone. How is the hall sensor on this phone supposed to work ? Asus phones dont need any special activation for this. Samsung needed their special cover that has a chip (galaxy S5). Is something else needed to turn on the hall sensor ?
I emailed HMD global support and got the following link: https://www.nokia.com/en_in/phones/nokia-slim-flip-cover?selectedDevice=
A flip case is listed here for Nokia 5. Has anyone tried it/has any experience with this ?
Thanks.
Answering my own question. I could not find out an accessory that supports the hall sensor. But, did manage to find out where the hall sensor is!
The hall sensor is somewhere near the middle of the screen. On your lock screen, it is around the place that displaces the day of the week (Monday, etc). Strange place to have a hall sensor. But it works! Just try taking a magnet near this spot.
I guess, now I have to find a flat sticky magnet to stick on my flip cover
So, did you found some nice magnet? I have original Nokia slim flip case which doesnt have the magnet, i tried what you said and it works with normal magnet, but it it is too thick. It doesnt work with fridger stickers.
I also have slim neomdyum magnet, but i am affraid to try it.

I think the neomdymium magnet should be OK. I know that my previous asus's filp cover had a small (1/2 to 3/4 cm dia) neomdymium magnet. I would be more worried about the magnet hitting the screen when you close (not the power of the magnet itself). I also checked that a simple stick-on magnetic strip does _not_ work.
I made it work nicely! found a great thin magnet in notebook HDD, which o broke in half (about .2cm long and wide now) and then inserted it with ducktape in top of card pocket. Working flawlessly!
Edit: Just compass seems messed when magnet is near.
Ah, I was expecting it to be near the edge somewhere. I'll give this a go as I have a cheap flip case on mine. Does the magnet need to be quite strong? I have some sticky sheet magnets, so I'll maybe try one of them and see what happens.
Magnetic Tape - rather those which can be used to hang metallic tools on a wall than audiotape!! - works also perfectly: no worries about scratching the screen. Can easily be cut to proper size and maybe inserted seamlessly into any flip cover. Search for "magnetic tape roll"
