Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 reboot loop - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone on XDA.
I have a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (WiFi + GSM) with 2 main problems:
Broken LCD and Digitizer
It is in a loop of reboots
I had this tablet from a friend of mine, who smashed it on the floor.
At the beginning I was pretty sure that the problem was only the LCD, but when I connected it to the wall, I found out that it does not turn on.
At this point I was a bit scared, because I couldn't do anything without seeing nothing on the LCD and with a dead tablet.
So I decided to see if at least it turns on plugging it to my PC. Then I started hearing an infinite loop of the USB Windows sound every 2 secs. It doesn't stop until I unplug the USB cable from the tablet.
Since I've seen something like this googling around the web, I started thinking that The Tab 2 was only in a bootloop. I found a method that helps on exiting from this loop:
- Unplug the tablet
- Hold in the power button for one minute
- At the 30-second mark, plug the tablet into the wall and continue holding the power button until you reach the 1-minute mark.
- Then, it began charging normally.
I tried this method, but although I repeated it for 3/4 times, it didn't work for me. I can say this because it still make the Windows sound loop.
I forgot to say that when Windows makes the plug-in sound, in the "Device Management" section there's an unknown device, called OMAP4430; then, when Windows make the plug-off sound, it disappears, and so on.
I cleaned the USB port of the Tablet to make sure that the dust doesn't prevent the charge process.
I also tried to access to the device through the adb, but nothing.
Excuse me for my english.
Regards,
Roberto.

[Q] Infuse bootloop

Im trying to explain everything to prevent unneeded questions
I have viewed several threads about this but absolutely none with an answer. My Samsung Infuse 4g with at&t (nonrooted) is in a bootloop. The cause of this was my every-other-day reboot. Once I turned it back on it goes to the samsung screen for about 5 secs, then goes black, then says samsung again and so on repeatedly. I pull the battery and as soon as it makes contact back with the phone it turns on by itself into the same Samsung screen over and over. When plugged into wall or computer it will show the charge screen where there is no battery life left, then it will flash and start up the charge screen again and so on just like the samsung screen. I cannot go into download mode (the buttons, at this point, do nothing. No response)
I have tried taking the battery out and plugging in usb cable to computer, then holding both volumes and putting battery in=charging loop
↑ with volume up=charging loop
↑↑ with volume down=charging loop
computer doesnt detect it, adb cant find it, cannot go into download mode, odin cant see it, heimdall cant see it, cant actually boot into anything, cant leave battery in or else phone will restart itself the entire time, and this was caused by my (already gbread) infuse 4g doing a regular reboot (aka power button, tap power off, after phone is confirmed off take battery out, battery back in, turn on)
Recommendations at this point? on a scale from 1=noob to 10=expert im a 7 on this type of thing. Ive always heard that as long as you can boot into a picture its only soft bricked but if i was right i wouldnt be here. Any and all help would be much appreciated. If you need me to post a video I would have NO problem doing that showing everything im doing.
oh, and by I have viewed several threads about this i meant that i have only been able to find 1 thread about it and 2 links that didnt work for me but might for you

You might have already tried this way, but I've always held down both volume buttons first before plugging in the USB cord - not the other way around. You can also try different cords, different USB ports and/or different computers.
Mine was doing this the other day and it turned out to be my SD card being flaky. Maybe try taking it out and booting?

Ive tried a hp touchpad cord, an atrix cord, and the original cord. I cant really do the button combo because as soon as the battery makes contact the phone turns on. thats why i had the usb cord in first to see if it worked. ive tried every usb port and 2 different laptops, the computer wont recognize it if the phone wont go past the samsung start up screen

I've taken the card out and used a different card, nothing. Tried taking sim card out, nothing.
I should have been clearer. Leave the battery out of the process until after attaching the cord and the screen coming up.

I do, every time.
1. battery out
2. hold down volume buttons (any combo)
3. attach cord (nothing happens, no screen, nothing)
4. put battery in
Results= Charging loop

should be the same...wonder if you battery needs to be charged first, it should be fully charged at best...to do any flash/Odin/one click
this how I do it...basicly the same..
>take batt out
>plug in usb cable...to both phone and computer
>hold both volume buttons...NO NOT HOLD THE POWER BUTTON....
>put batt in...
and bam should see the android dude shoveling in yellow triangle...
If you get no response from the usb without the battery, and inserting the battery indicates the battery needs charging - I'd suspect the phone's usb port. Especially after trying different cords & computers.

this will/should get you into download mode
Hello.
I have the same problem... tried also everything now i gave it to cellphone shop, i hope you guys can give me answer before i am gonna waist $100
HELP?1
Help me please
I was in this state. There are two options I can think of. A JIG as mentioned previously or the Heimdall One-Click-Unbrick. The one-click unbrick did it for me and got me back to cmw and download mode, then i could flash to stock, root and flash up to ICS. It was really easy and I stopped sweating once it booted to cmw instantly after running it.
Joe
hello.
The problem is when i connect it to my computer its keep disconnecting and doing terreble noise, (windows noise) when you keep connecting and disconnecting USB cable
JIG DIDNT WORK, because the same problem.... maybe the chargging connect is broken? or has a corrosion?

Sounds/Looks like a hardware issue...
Did it get any water damage in the past?
Hope you got warranty or still under warranty.
I am having exactly the same problem. My Infuse has never been rooted or unlocked (quite ironically, I was about to root it for the first time).
Boot loop when not plugged in, charge loop when plugged in. Absolutely no combination of buttons, inserting/removing the battery, and/or plugging/unplugging the USB has gotten it to do anything.
This has happened several times over the past few days. The first few times it sorted itself out in an hour or two. Today I couldn't get it to do anything at all.
I found several posts by people who have this problem, and it has never been conclusively solved from what I've seen. Finally one person said they fixed it by lightly smacking the phone with their hand. Lo and behold, it came on for about 5 minutes before looping again. So I smacked it again, and before it could re-loop, I factory reset it. A few hours went by and I was convinced that it was fixed.
A few minutes ago I had it plugged in to my computer via USB and was getting ready to SuperOneClick it. Then it went back into loop. I can't get it to come on this time. Again, no combination of buttons will send it into download mode. The computer can't see it. The battery is charged. The USB cable and port are fine. The software was reset earlier today. Does this mean that I have a hardware problem, or is there a software issue that could be fixable?
EDIT: So I decided to try hitting the power button, something that had never worked to this point, and the device came on. A couple minutes later it went back to boot loop. On a whim I tried download mode, which had stubbornly refused to work all day. Of course it immediately worked. Not really knowing what to try, since I'd already wiped user data, I wiped cache data and formatted the internal SD. Then I told it to reboot. Back to boot loop. A few minutes later, it came back on with the power button. Two minutes later, boot loop again. Then it restarted of its own accord. And now back to boot loop. I just don't even know anymore.
EDIT2: Just a thought... Something is weird with the power button. Whenever the phone is on and I hit power (briefly, not holding it down), it goes to the shutdown menu as though I'd held it down. A few seconds later, I'm always back in boot loop.
Infuse loop
I have found the problem. It is, in my case, the power button. I removed the case and crossed terminals with a paperclip. BAM. Booted up, and when I removed the paper clip.... back to boot loop at Samsung logo.
There is a place to send the phone. Ive see great reviews.

Seems like there has been a string of power button malfunctions going around lately. There are a few threads going on where people have had this issue. Sometimes its just the terminals needing to be cleaned or dust blown out.

[Q] Tab2 10.1 completely unresponsive, help?

Hi all,
I was given a Tab 2 10.1 (P5110) for my birthday only last month and have rooted, installed CWM 6 and CM10.1 snapshot M1. Everything's been running very smoothly so far, however last night I left the Tab on charge and woke up this morning to a completely unresponsive device.
After extensive searching I've found many forum posts suggesting various remedies such as holding the power button for various lengths of time (10, 15, 60 seconds), with and without pressing the volume up/down buttons, when plugged into the charger and not. I've tried all combinations I can think of but the thing seems to be totally dead :crying:
I have no way of knowing if it has somehow got itself into a very very deep sleep and just can't be kicked out of it, or if it's turned itself off and just won't come back on for whatever reason. Plugging in the charger doesn't bring up the charging battery display that you would usually see if it was turned off completely, which leads me to think that it's just in some weird deep sleep mode; either that or the screen has died so it is operating normally but I just can't see a damn thing.
Has anybody seen behaviour like this with their Tab2 before (or anything similar), and if so, did they find a solution? Obviously if it's a hardware fault (mobo, battery etc.) then it's still under warranty, that's a bit of a last resort though as warranty repairs can take weeks and I'd rather not be without my new toy for that length of time. Also without being able to power the thing up means I can't restore the stock recovery and ROM and use Triangle Away to wipe the flash counter to hide the fact I've flashed a custom ROM.
Any assistance will be very gratefully received!
Has the tab been bumped at all. Unlikely but the cable from the screen could have been knockedbout of place. Definately looks like its a warranty issue for defective hardware. Push and hold power for 15 seconds. Then connect it to your computer. Bring up odin. Do not load anything in odin. Just look at the box where it shows the com port. It should light up with a number. Mine shows a number with my device in normal operation. If it doesnt then sorry but you need to talk to samsung. Also have you used a different usb cord? Maybe yours was faulty?

[Q] TF300t does not boot

Hi guys I have had my TF300 for about 9 months now, and it has been working well until a few days ago.
Right now, I can't get the tablet to boot up at all, apart from some minor things, there is no sign of life.
After looking around I have tried several solutions with no luck.
I have tried holding the power button for about 2 minutes.
Cold boot (holding both vol down and power for about 20 seconds)
Charging via the regular charger
Charging via a regular USB charger (for around 10 hours)
Charging via a computer
The few lifesigns I have seen from the tab is that the battery indicator on the sleep button, as well as the fact that windows detects the tablet when I connect it. When I connected it the first time after the crash, windows tried to install drivers for it but failed, now I only get the "device disconnection sound" and some other sound that I have never heard before about 20 seconds after I plug it in.
So, what could be the cause of this. A few days ago, I brought my tablet to school because I needed it for programming. My teacher wanted to take a look at it but failed to put it in the dock properly. It fell from about 10 cm which shouldn't cause any problems. However when we tried to use it with the dock, something was wrong. The tablet didn't detect the dock until we restarted it. So everything was fine.
The next day, I had the tablet in my bag, and my friend (not knowing about it being in there) droped my bag from about 20 cm. Again nothing that should be a problem. However, when I went to turn on the tablet a few hours later, it didn't start at all.
So, should droping it from 20cm realy make the tablet break?
Also, im running the latest official android version from ASUS. If any of you have any idea what may be wrong or how to solve it, I would be grateful.
Sounds like a loss of connection inside. The jolts prolly rattled something loose. If you feel comfortable, take it apart and take a synopsis.

[Q][A510] Does not respond, bricked possibly?

I have been using cyanogen mod 10.2 for some time without problems in my tablet until last saturday. That day i was watching some movie on my tablet and it froze. I restarted it but it stopped at boot screen. At that time i was able to enter cwm recovery by pressing power&volume -. After some reboots, i had lost it completely. Now tablet doesn't respond to anything; power button, power&volume-, power&volume+, restart switch, etc. Also for some time (a year possibly) -due to some physical problem at the usb port i suppose- i have not been able to connect tablet to my pc or connect a usb memory stick to the tablet via a otg cable (i could do it before). So the tablet doesn't respond either when i connect it to pc, nor my pc recognises it. I can charge it though, so i got that going for me which is nice Any recommendation will be very appreciated.
Hi there, your issue sounds very similar to mine. I have/had an A701 and was using CM 11 on it for about a year. Sometimes it would freeze or turn off by itself and one day it stopped responding at all. I could charge it, but exactly as you said, nothing else worked. After getting my hands on a second a701 I tried switching batteries and stuff and came to conclusion, that mainboard/cpu is dead. I have a strange feeling that Cyanogen Mod has something to do with it.. Sorry, couldnt really help you, but I hope it gives you at least some closure.

Galaxy Tab GT-P3113 doesn't turn on nor recognized by pc.

Hello Guys, it's been awhile since i needed your help for the last time. Right now i'm having issues with a Galaxy Tab GT-P3113 i recently got from an aunt. The tablet is not working but i want to see if there's any chance to bring it back to life before i dipose it to the trash. Any of your kind comments will be very appreciated.
Here are the facts i noticed since i got it (5 hours ago):
.- Tablet does not turn on normally, by pressing power button.
.- Tablet does not charge from the wall input.
.- Tablet is not recognized by 2 laptops at this moment
... but here's a little twist: even when my laptops says it doesn't recognize usb device, the tablet shows the charging icon for about 3 seconds, then it fails and "reboot" again and again... So, by experience i can say that there's something possible to do with it...
If you have any ideas where to begin, it would be very awesome.
Thank you in advance for your support.
PD: i have already tried pushing buttons for 25 secs to one minute, with or without holding vol down and up.
Maybe you have not thrown away the tablet yet.
Two solutions:
1. Connect the tablet for one hour to the charger, then the battery may start charging.
or
2. Press the power button for 30 seconds, connect the charger without releasing the button and after connecting it, hold it for 30 seconds.
Once i had this issue too...
The fault in your usb cable. Get a new one from Amazon or somewhere else and give it a try. Most probably your issue would be fixed.
