Questions about honor 6 performance - Honor 6, 6 Plus Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I have few questions about my honor 6's benchmark scores and usability. Would be gr8 if someone can clear my concerns out.
I am running emui 3.0 btw.
I recently ran the gfxbench 3.1 in my honor 6 l04 and found my Manhattan and t rex scores to be Lower than others using honor 6.got 6.8 and 14 in Manhattan and t rex respectively with the power saving mode in normal.and then switched to smart mode and the scores went down to 4.8 and 9.7 in both while others with honor 6 get 8.3 in Manhattan and 17 in t rex. Not sure why this is happening. Device did not seem to heat too much either, temperature was below 39.
The other thing is that I am not able to have more than 18 apps open at a time though my ram usage never touches 2 gigs..I am unable to have more than 18 apps in the task switcher whatsoever. Is this some kind of a restriction with honor 6.
And the device is not rooted.
Any insight on these two situations would be hugely appreciated.I would also like to mention that antutu, browsermark and kraken returned scores similar to others with honor 6..
Thank you.

Guys I also do not have the performance mode under notification panel>shortcuts..
Sent from my H60-L04 using XDA Free mobile app

I don't either have the switch in shortcuts area, though it was here before updating to emui 3.0 (ie. on 2.3).
As to your other issues, I have no idea. Maybe you could try it on the 720p mode or something, though that's just a "maybe".
Regarding this 18 tasks issue, I have never gotten myself so far as to have so many of them open at the same time because I'm too much concerned with battery life and I always close all the apps, so can't help much here too.
Update
Just tested it and it indeed doesn't display more than 18 tasks, but it does not kill the ones not shown, so it shouldn't be very troublesome in my opinion.
I read your first post again and noticed you said your antutu and other benchmarks are similar to others. This could probably prove what I said earlier about the 720p mode. The greatest impact it has is on the gpu, so it would make the scores higher for graphics heavy benchmarks, which gfxbench is one of.

Yeah, even I thought of the same with gfxbench. But all the reviews claim to have run it at 1080p.In anandtech review they have scores for 720p as well. I guess it's because we are not able to unlock the gpu core to its full clock at least within gfxbench due to the lack of performance mode. From what I've seen, gfxbench too fails to unlcok the gpu before the benchmark as evident from the difference in scores between smart and normal mode. Can you go as far to run the gfxbench on your piece and give me the scores, just to make sure what I am getting is about the same as others running emui 3.
Sent from my H60-L04 using XDA Free mobile app

Sure I can run the benchmark on my device. Just tell me which gfxbench do you use because I can see two of them in the Play store (3 and 3.1)

Thank you,I used 3.1.

Here's what the benchmark looks like on my Honor in 1080p mode and power saving set to "normal" (I think it's the equivalent of "ultra" from emui 2.3):

As you can see, it performs even worse than yours. I've run the benchmark in a tpu case, it could possibly have some tiny impact on the heat dissipation and such.
I think the main reason you're seeing discrepancies between your score and that of others is the version of the benchmark. I don't recall seeing 3.1 back when I was doing such benchmarks for myself so it's got to be sort of new. You've been most probably looking at 3.0 benchmark results which contains quite a bit different benchmarks under the same names, so it can be confusing.

I tried 3.0 as well with no difference. The difference is most probably because of the lack of performance mode in 3.0

Even I got the same scores, I ran the benchmark multiple times and I mentioned the best score I got.

this benchmark is not updated, SGII has got over 3000>>> http://gurkensenf.com/wordpress/?p=9044
The SGS 2 is currently the benchmark king, but all the benchmarks that are currently on the net for O3D show that the O3D was running pre-release software. There are no final release software O3D's benchmark test results out yet.
Ian
At mwc on february in barcellona,Lg press conference showed a 2900+ points in quadrant.
SGS2 can easily get over 4000 quadrant score when overclocked to a stable 1.5GHz.
I wonder if we can overclock the O3D? If so, I reckon it will also go to 1.5GHz possibly.
I've had the pleasure to play with it yesterday at LG. Only had the time to install Quadrant.

di you ask to lg for a release date?
Well the best I heard was the beginning of july in the netherlands. The representative said that with the final rom Quadrant reached about 3000, it is expected to go higher when 2.3 comes out for the Optimus 3d. 2.3 should roll out just after launch.

Quick question, why do the benchmarks seem a bit low is this review? Neocore didn't even hit 59 FPS! And the quadrant seems a bit low of 2800+ that LG claim...
Is this review still not on final software?
Thanks
Ian
The highest i got on Quadrant was 2680. But mine is running on May software, so its not final. Don't really compare this phone to SG2 because that comes overclocked from Sammy and is on gingerbread, that's why it gets high scores. Wait til O3D gets 2.3 and overclock kernel then we shall see its potential.

[Q] Nexus S getting very low scores on Quadrant

Hi everybody!
I've been using my Nexus S for one and a half weeks by now, and I've noticed that the phone itself is very cool etc. but it's Quadrant scores (Standard Edition) are only about 1250-1390, basically. It does the "hallway" part quite well (about 40 fps), but in the "planet" and the "dna" section it's framerate drops to 10-15 fps.
Here are the average framerates of each section:
"Sun surface" - 19
"Hallway" - 45
"Flashing room" - 37
"Planet & Moon" - 11 (WTF??)
"DNA" - 19
Final result: 1385
Hope you understood my terms
The phone is running Android GB 2.3.1 (still waiting for 2.3.3), and I have heard people say that Quadrant doesn't fully support Gingerbread, but I'm still childishly annoyed about a Quadrant score so low on a such high-end(for now) device!
Do you have any explanation for this?
Quadrants mean nothing. But if it really feeds your ego, you need to update to a custom ROM + kernel to get higher numbers.
Also, there has been reports of people not getting the update to 2.3.3. So you should probably manually update to 2.3.3 (find it in the general forums "2.3.3 link" thread)
I get the same odd low scores that you do, but I get 2800 in quadrant. CM7 #36
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
Yeah not to mention the stock kernel doesn't have this ext4 boost thing in terms of I/O speeds. it was explained by supercurio.
I get 1931 pts with mine, Nexus S GT-I9023 stock (2.3.3, GRI40, Radio KB3...)
Quadrant score means nothing.

Yeah thanks for just repeating what i said -.-
I suggest manually installing 2.3.3 update if you really want to stay stock... other wise, CM7 rc4 or nightly with ogdobber "james bond" kernel.. it's fast, super fast.. 3200+ points on quadrant with no OC..
well, on my NS i even hit 4539 (top till now) so i can say i got no complain.. although yes it is true in the planet section especially it get REALLY low fps

For some reason 3D part of the app runs like crap dev didn't do anything to improve this on NS
galaxy s runs same hardware yet caps out at 56fps on every graphic test
This is just another reason on top of the IO exploit that we shouldn't use this crap benchmark as a benchmark standard but try telling this to people who will continue to pop a boner over their exaggerated IO scores

[Q] Graphics performance - Bad Hardware or Bad Drivers?

I have been using Galaxy SL since last 10 months and one thing that has bugged me since I bought it is bad graphics performance (both on GB & Froyo). Now, I am not complaining about the low powered GPU but simply it's bad performance.
I just wanted to confirm if anybody else here suffers from the same and whether it's a software bug or a hardware problem.
Here are a few comparison pics (compared to my Xperia Neo V):

Note the appearance of water
Paper Camera:
It doesn't work the first time you start it, but after restarting the app it works although it breaks h/w acceleration for rest of the apps such as camera, video playback etc.
I also own a ZTE Blade and a Acer Icona A500, and both of them perform the same as Xperia. Can anybody else confirm similar issues on Galaxy SL? Or should I go for a replacement?
I just downloaded sprinkle from the market and im not having your problem. The water is the same as the Xperia one. Maybe you should ask for a replacement from Samsung? Faulty GPU maybe? You never know

Thanks for checking it out, can you try it maybe after playing a video or doing some gaming. As, mine also works fine after restarting the phone but after doing some work like gaming, watching videos it breaks as in the screen shot. Can you also try Paper Camera? I'll appreciate your help.
I am still covered by warranty so I may go for a replacement.
PS: I have never OC'd my phone and also tried the graphics solution mentioned in the forum (editing the egl.cfg and deleting libGLES_android.so) but no solution so far.
I tried Sprinkle too and the water is weird (to avoid misunderstandings:http://i.imgur.com/C3U1ml.jpg).
I'm using CM7, I don't know if the performance are the same as stock roms.
Anyway the Xperia neo V has an Adreno 205, which is better than our PowerVR SGX530, if I'm not wrong.

Thanks for confirming my doubt, I guessed this could be a widespread problem. Moreover, it doesn't concern the GPU power, as a ZTE Blade with Adreno 200 runs it better and I think it's equivalent if not better to our PowerVR 530.
So, what could be causing it? Bad drivers? Does all PowerVR 530 devices face the same issue?
oh?!
mhh.. very interesting :?
The GPU isn't the best, but from missing textures in one of the benchmark apps, i'd say it's incomplete drivers.

I have already mentioned in my second post, that I am using this method. AFAIK, it just gives a little boost in benchmark scores nothing else.
I was wondering if Optimus Black users also have this problem...

Intel Medfield based Lava Xolo X900

Lava has launched the Xolo X900 smartphone which also becomes the first Intel powered smartphone in the world for Rs 22,000.
The device is based on the Intel Medfield reference design and features a 1.6GHz Atom processor, a GPU clocked at 400MHz, a 4.03-inch display with a resolution of 1024×600 pixels, a 8-megapixel camera with 1080p shooting capabilities, NFC and HDMI connectivity. Intel claims the camera can take 10 pictures in under a second in full resolution in burst mode setting. Lava says the device can produce five hours of battery life with 3G browsing and can deliver 45 hours of audio and eight hours of talk time.
The device run stock Android 2.3 and will not ship with the latest version of Android Ice Cream Sandwich. For its part Lava says an OTA Ice Cream Sandwich update is in the works.
The device will be available in India on April 23 at Croma or from Xolo.in, and will hit retail chains in early May.
We are feel happy because it launched in india first

benchmark tests compared to tf prime

Hi guys, I just got my brand new tf700 to exchange my prime.
being spoiled by the speed of the 4.1 cyanogenmod preview on the prime (I'm hoping the jb development starts soon for the tf700) I felt the tf700 sluggishness. Normally I don't compare with benchmarks. But here I did and I noticed something extreme.
The tf700 did a 3705 points in performance mode. And I didn't compare it to the 4.1 flying machine, but to the normal benchmark score of the prime (over 4000) looking at the graph it seems the only real place where the tf700 lost points was in IO performance.

Do your Tf700 score as low as this one? Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks for your input!
Mine scores between 4200-4300. Hope that helps.
that is odd. Mine is full stock, and in performance mode its always 4300-4500. 4505 is my higthest.
Quadrant scores might be lower due to the I/O issue, but also remember that the TF700t is running quadrant in 1920x1200 whereas the prime only had to do something like 1280x800. Same reason your framerates go down when you bump up resolution on a PC game, takes more power to output more pixels.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
first i was thinking the same thing! It has to push more pixels around. but: IO performance shouldn't be affected by that and others score higher
but what can one do with such bad io performance.... isn't that somehow software related too? doesn't the same type of storage either "work" or "don't work"?
thanks guys for the comparison numbers! it helps. Is your IO part as small as mine or as big as the competitors?
All Asus tabs apparently suffer from poor I/O performance. I don't remember why exactly, has something to do with how the software communicates with internal storage? I think some fixes/tweaks were made for the prime, I'm sure we'll end up with a solution for the infinity as development grows.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
I hope so, thanks for the input. Sadly the other infinities seem to score "normal"
in the worst case i'll look into the SD IO solution... and in the meantime I'll try to enjoy my tablet for now !
Sorry for being so slow but I found the problem after reading the tweaks thread (which I should have read through before)
After disabling "force gpu rendering" in the developers settings I got 4300 at first try.

I believe a teardown discovered that Asus has chosen to use entry level (Kingston?) storage in order to save costs. There is (was?) a thread about it on the TF201 forums a few months ago.
