I have just transferred all files from an SGS4 to a brand new S6 using the samsung smart switch - brilliant software.
The problem I found after the transfer was completed is related to the image gallery - the videos / whatapp images/screenshots/other images where nicely grouped with today's date instead of using their original created by date. Photos were then correctly tagged by time under this initial rather long section.
I checked the files via usb and noticed that the created / modified dates where incorrect so I copied all files again using windows explorer - this time I retained the created on and modified on however the last modified files are finding themselves on top - which doesn't make sense. I did some further testing and and confirm that every time I was copying a file from the S4 to the S6, it was being tagged as NEW and immediately placed at the top of the list.
Has anyone experienced this or can recommend a workaround for images / videos pls.

Hi, I've just rooted the Nexus 5 and, before doing it, I saved all my photos and videos on my desktop.
Once the process was finished I copied back all the files but now all my videos are on top of the gallery, while the photos are aligned correctly. The date of the photos are correct, the video's ones are not, the copy overwrited the creation date with the actual date.
I tried to modify that in Windows but once I copy them back the date is updated immediately.
Is there a way to fix this?
I tried to edit the info directly on the Nexus but in debug mode I cannot modify anything, I have to copy them on my pc (and if I disable the debug mode I cannot browse the Nexus on Windows)
Help me
I have used microsoft autoplay for years transferring photos and videos to my PC from my camera and my phone. The phone is working fine with one exception.
1) I'm able using autoplay on my PC to set a destination directory on the PC i.e. C:\Users\Mike\Pictures\2015
2) I can also tag them with event details or simply let them the folder be auto named to the date of transfer.
3) Deleting the source is also optional, saying no, simply lets them remain on the phone.
What I have noted since I got my S6, is the S6 will not simply transfer the videos and photos in the /DCIM/Camera folder, but it will transfer TTS files from the navigation software Waze under the Android/Wave folder and other files from assorted game apps also under the android folder.
So I have two questions:
1) Is there anyway to tell the phone to only share the folders under "DCIM" during sync / transfer?
2) Is there any other way to hide folders on the phone other than "private mode", this does not work as the navigation software does not see it's TTS files and simply transfers them again?
This seems to be a pretty simple issue, yet its stumped me and Samsung was no help either, they suggested their smart switch software, which is more for backup than transferring periodically.
Thanks
Mike
Hi all
Whenever I transfer my photos to my pc from the device, it asks if i want to overwrite some i already have. This seems down to the phone creating file names in the same order at all times, rather than say - naming a photo by it's date.
How can I change the way file names are saved/created in the camera app, at present I'm having to give each photo a name so as not to loose any in the process of saving them to my desktop.
Renz
I would say some more input about what you do exactly would be helpful so I'm just guessing that by transfer you mean moving the photo files off the phone and new pictures start again with DSC_0001.JPG. To prevent this keep the last photo (with the highest number in the filename) on your phone to avoid that the next photo starts with 1 again.
I use "DSC Auto Rename" from the play store. Install it, activate it and you can set it to automatically name files by date and time. It runs in the background and works perfectly

Hi,
since last night I cannot access any of my photos, videos, voice recordings, stickers etc in the whatsapp app.
I've noticed that a new folder was created under /android/med/whatsapp.com, but only tiny bit of the files was moved there.
Ther rest still stays in the older location /internal storage/whatsapp. But whatsapp does not take info from these folders and it looks like it's all empty.
What I've tried so far - move a few gfiles to the new location - still whatsapp app claims there are no photos or videos to be shown (although I moved them to the new location).
Tried to backup to to google drive and restore - I get an error.
I know that it's caused due to android API 30 on android 11 and up - apps can access only their own folders, but it seems like the migration on whatsapp's part was horrible.
I have friends with the same situation but with a few files. My whatsapp back is around 39 GB.
Anyone found a solution yet? I contacted whatsapp support with no feedback so far.

is there like a program or a bot that could change every images' creation date (they are over 11K image so doing manually would take ages)?
and is there a way to transfer images and be kept with their original creation date?
i found this https://stackoverflow.com/questions...tiple-files-creation-date-using-python-script
but i don't know anything about programming so is there a similar thing to make the 11k files creation date be changed automatically to the original one that is written on the file name like IMG_20190719_074306
