Gallery Sorting - General Questions and Answers

i just transfered my screenshot images to another folder so when i open the folder from gallery or any app like whatsapp they are all made created on dec 17 not their original dates so all the screenshots are not organized so is there any fix to make them organized by their dates (not sort by option)
MIUI 12.5.1--Redmi Note 7
Like this :
https://media.discordapp.net/attach...45-bbf3-c1757597f96e.png?width=353&height=538
is there like a program or a bot that could change every images' creation date (they are over 11K image so doing manually would take ages)?
and is there a way to transfer images and be kept with their original creation date?
i found this https://stackoverflow.com/questions...tiple-files-creation-date-using-python-script
but i don't know anything about programming so is there a similar thing to make the 11k files creation date be changed automatically to the original one that is written on the file name like IMG_20190719_074306

Internet Shortcut Tabs

Is there a way to refresh the internet shortcut tabs so that they will show current web pages??? Also one of my pages didn't load all the way so my Internet Shortcut tab has a half loaded page on it...This is ridiculous!!!
Nevermind
I figured it out! Go to \Windows\Thumbnails and delete them all. Then reload your webpage once you have a 3G Connection... Plus it would help if I upgraded to Opera 10

Hi, it sounds like you have found a solution to your problem; however, I thought I would let you know that you can create your own images for the internedt tab thumbnails. Rather than have a mini-screenshot type thing that is currently there simply make an icon (in PhotoShop, Fireworks, Corel or whatever your preferred image editing app is).
To implement this, do as follows:
*Copy the PNG files from the Windows/Thumbnails directory to your PC.
*Open each in your image editing software.
*The current size is not really necessary and can make for a larger file size. Reduce the canvas down to 128x128 (this seems to produce a reasonable image without too much resolution loss).
*Create your icon/preferred thumbnail image.
*Save as PNG8 (with alpha transperancy if you want a transparent background). PNG8 will keep your filesize down.
*Remember when you save to keep the same filename. It should be a long string of numbers and letters.
*Copy your new files back to your device Windows/Thumbnails directory.
*Voila! New thumbnails, no mini screenshots.
The reason you want to keep your file sizes down is so that there is no lag time when you get to the internet tab. If you have large files, it takes a minute for the tab to load the thumbnails.
Perhaps you can answer this for me

Something happened when I deleted my cache files and my thumbnails. I tried placing several internet tabs back but they will not load. Netflix, CNN, ESPN..etc..etc... the only ones that show up in the internet tabs favorites are new pages/favorites that I have not added or been to before.
Having exactly the same problem. Looking for a fix.
Thanks.
Do either of you have the original PNG file names?
I am unsure whether Windows or Manila creates a random number for the file name when a new thumbnail is produced. I suspect this may be the case.
If the file names tend to be the same then I can send you some of mine to test.
I have attached an images of my thumbnails and file names. Perhaps this will help. I'm happy to share the files if it will be of assistance; however, I suspect that the file names may not be the same as yours.
Do you have any files in the folder:
device/thumbnails
If you do, and you are happy to send them to me (with the name of the site they link too), then I am more than happy to create some thumbnails for your and roll them all into an easy to install cab
Thanks,
Yes, I have files in the Windows\Thumbnails folder, but only the new once that I create.
When I recreate a quick link that was used in the past (CNN….) No Thumbnails is created in the Windows\Thumbnails folder.
I think this might be what you are looking for:
Update thumbnail images of shortcuts on the Sense 2.5 internet tab
If you want those images to change to the actual picture of the site when you open them, instead of the old picture of what the site looked like when you first opened it, change this registry key: HKLM/SOFTWARE/HTC/VisualBookmark/UpdateOnce to 0 instead of 1.
Pasted from <http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=641804>
Thanks,
Changed to "0" in the registry, SR, set PIE as default browser - No Go
I checked again, the moment I delete a Thumbnails related to a site, I can't assign again any image to that site (to replace the "globe" image).
Need help!!!

Hi
Here you go, I have made the attached thumbnails for you (using your original filenames).
I have included an image showing the new thumbnails and associated filenames.
All you need to do is copy and paste the files into 'device/windows/thumbnail' folder using Resco, Total Commander or similar. Overwrite the files that are currently in the folder.
That's it! It's done!
Go have a look at our internet tab and you will find the new thumbnails are displayed.
Note: I have a copy of your original files as a backup.

Ok, I never had this problem until now and I've done this countless times. My custom Youtube shortcut reverts back to the default thumbnail when I click on it. The others shortcuts are fine. Something like this can drive me nuts kinda...Any ideas guys? Thanks.
Edit: The problem has affected all the shortcuts.
Globe be gone!!

I had the same problem - after deleting the thumbnails I couldn't get them back. New shortcuts to new URL's worked, but everything else just gave the globe.
The solution that worked for me was to delete vb.vol in \windows (I stumbled across this after reading the "Manual Backup Stuff - Manila/Sense Internet Tab Shortcuts" section of http //whirlpool.net.au/wiki/htc_hd2_backup )
Don't have a solution for auto-updating the thumbnails, though

[MOD] Custom S Note template

Hi folks.
I don't quite like any of the provided templates in S notes. And frankly I think Samsung should allow us to create templates. Anyways...
I have been searching quite a while for this but could not find a suitable solution. Hence, I decided to check it out myself.
Basically, it's pretty simple, replacing files within an apk. Not sure if this has been explored before though..
Requirement:
1) Rooted device with any file explorer to read/write system files
2) WinRAR
Steps:
1) Create a template.
Simple create a blank note "blank.snb" that you would like to use as a template. You can have your required background, pattern, color, etc. Save it.
2) Copy out this "blank.snb" into your PC. Notes location on device is "\sdcard\S Note" internal storage.
3) Copy out S notes APK into your PC. Location: "\system\app\Snote_wxga.apk"
IMPORTANT: Make extra copies of this apk, in case the one you're editing screws up!
4) Rename the "Snote_wxga.apk" to "Snote_wxga.rar" and open it with winRAR.
5) In winRAR, browse to "\assets\templates" and delete "magazine.snb" - more info on this below
6) Rename the "blank.snb" from step (2) into "magazine.snb"
7) Drag this new "magazine.snb" into winRAR location "\assets\templates" of "Snote_wxga.rar". Close winRAR.
Your file "Snote_wxga.rar" should now be updated.
8) Rename back "Snote_wxga.rar" to "Snote_wxga.apk"
9) Copy this "Snote_wxga.apk" back into "\system\app\" of your device.
NOTE: Your device may restart in this process.
10) Restart your device if it already hasn't.
11) Open your Snotes. Your "Magazine" template will now be your custom template that you created.
Notes:
i) I tried adding a new snb into the APK but that was not registered as a new template. This is why I had to replace an existing template with my custom one. I happen to choose "Magazine". I believe others should work also. I did not experiment replacing more files.
ii) The thumbnail does not change though. It still has the magazine thumbnail. Not a major issue for me as I always pre-select my template when I create new notes. For those who have any ideas to change this, pls do share.
iii) This little mod worked for me and I didn't find time to explore further as this meet my needs. I do not take responsibility if your device decides to misbehave. So do remember to backup the "Snote_wxga.apk", or better still, perform a nandroid backup.
Cheers! :good:
Thank you for this tip. I'll try later when I'm at my computer. Could you upload some templates you made?

I have attached the one which I'm using, renamed to "magazine.snb".
It's a simple blank note, white background with faint lines across.
Ok.. there seems to be a problem. When I add pages, it goes back to an empty memo template.
So now I have notes with different cover pages.. Hmmmm
Alright! With a little bit of trial-and-error, I finally got the right template that behaves correctly on every page.
The trick was first to take a "golden template", which would say is "memo", since it's the simplest and every page is constant. I opened it up (renaming the snb file to rar) and I replaced it with my background images (already generated from my template I created above).
So basically, this is still a "memo" template, but with a different background.
This time, I replaced the birthday template with this one. I've attached the template and a thumbnail as well. Now, every page has my background and color!
As an alternative: it is also possible to modify downloaded note templates, instead of modifying the apk - I've put the description here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2330470
Is it possible to get *. snb files from Note 3's ,,s note" apk and put them inside original Note 8,0's apk file?
If yes, can anyone having Note 3 attach apk file here so we can extract templates and put them into our apk's?

[APP][4.0.3+] DeviantDown 1.2

About
DeviantDown allows the user to save DeviantArt photos utilizing the "share deviation" button within the Official DeviantArt App.
History
I had recently got tired of the currently available DeviantArt browser applications on the Play Store. This was mainly due to the API limitation of the number of images that can be seen during a search. The Official DeviantArt application has no limitation but doesn't allow you to save the Deviant Art directly to your phone like other Unofficial DeviantArt browser applications. So I wrote this application to fix that.
How It Works
The application utilizes the DeviantArt Back-end REST API to return the image URL of the shared URL provided when the user presses the "share deviation" button.
Features
Adds "Save Deviant Art" to "Share deviation" menu.
Saves photos directly to phone gallery.
Prevents Non-photo share links from being saved into gallery.

This app uses the android media store function and it simply adds it to the gallery.
Now I just checked but on my device the creation date data is correct. Are you using a custom ROM by chance?

I'll look into the Time and Date. I don't know why it does that because if you look at the file creation date in the file explorer it has the proper date at least for me. Right now I'm using this command to add the media to the gallery, http://developer.android.com/reference/android/provider/MediaStore.Images.Media.html
It uses the least amount of code but doesn't have that many options but like I said I'll look into it. (Today)

If you could further explain what you mean that would be great. I can tell you that apart from the thumbnail image URL that the back-end provides the the full image URL.

[Q] Transfer pics / photos

I have just transferred all files from an SGS4 to a brand new S6 using the samsung smart switch - brilliant software.
The problem I found after the transfer was completed is related to the image gallery - the videos / whatapp images/screenshots/other images where nicely grouped with today's date instead of using their original created by date. Photos were then correctly tagged by time under this initial rather long section.
I checked the files via usb and noticed that the created / modified dates where incorrect so I copied all files again using windows explorer - this time I retained the created on and modified on however the last modified files are finding themselves on top - which doesn't make sense. I did some further testing and and confirm that every time I was copying a file from the S4 to the S6, it was being tagged as NEW and immediately placed at the top of the list.
Has anyone experienced this or can recommend a workaround for images / videos pls.

Wildcard and DateTime syntax in Android Automate app

Hi,
I'm new to Android programming and I want to automate a process in an LG phone (Android 5.1.1) with the Automate app. I want it to take a picture at a set time of day and send it by email to a recipient. I have it running ok, just without image file attached because the app expects an absolute file name for the attachment. The problem is that the camera uses the date and time as the filename which of course changes with each image. Is there a way to use a wildcard like 'DCIM/Camera/IMG_*' (btw this doesn't work) to select the just created file which is deleted after the email is sent. So there is only ever the new file that should attach to the next email in this folder when the flow runs, but always with a new filename. I've tried various versions that I found online like GLOB'[IMG_]*' and 'IMG_#' but it always errors with 'NoSuchFile'...
Another way would be if I could give each new image file the same name, that would eliminate deleting the just sent file because it would overwrite the old one and I could set an absolute filename for the attachment in the email template. But i have not found a camera app that allows me to define the filename nor a way to automatically change the name of the saved file.
The other thing I'd like to do is insert the current date and time as the subject line. Here too I have tried various versions that I've found like =DateTime() which either just display the code in the email when I put them in " " (I guess as they should) or error already when I try to save them in the app.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Regards,
Jimmy
