[Q] [QUESTION] Convert 920F to 920T - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I'm pretty new to all of this stuff, and when I had a motorola phone, I had seen threads about people switching the phone from an xt1092 to an xt1095. Is there anyway that something like that can be done with the S6? I'm getting the 920F tomorrow, and I know it works with t-mobile, from what I've managed to read about the bands available. Please let me know. Thanks!

Both phones are different. You won't be able to convert it. However, the 920F is the international version, the one with the most support. I would stick with it

That's awesome. I wasn't aware of that at all. Thanks for the quick response!

Also I messed up. I saw the sticky after I posted this. I'm really sorry.

[Q] (original) Android Development

Is there a difference between the two forums? Basically, I was wondering if there's a different model of this phone other than the 4g lte version. I don't want to start playing with this phone yet until I know for sure.

Yes there is a difference but only in the work involved in creating those developments, nothing to do with phone model.
You can read the announcement here from when the split of development forums was made.
That explains everything. Thanks!

Any hope for TWRP on the SM-930T?

Was curious if people thought this T-Mobile S7 would ever be able to run TWRP (looking to run Lineage).
I just bought this phone, and didn't realize the T-Mobile variant wouldn't work...
Should I wait a while, or go ahead and sell it? Wondering if there's any hope for this...
Thanks for any help.

Unless the bootloader ever gets unlocked there's no chance of getting TWRP or lineage. I wouldn't be overly optimistic of this ever happening.
yeah i figured, thanks for responding though. i already sold the phone (930T) and bought a 930F, which aside from "partial" 3G should be fully compatible with T-mobile (who needs 3G anyways these days?)

Cause people with a ton of money want to dictate to us in the US how we should use our phones.

Is it possible to flash g9550 firmware on the g955u?

I'm in Hong Kong right now and would like to be able to use VOLTE. Both models are on sd835, but the g9550 has 2 extra gigabyte of ram and dual SIM, also the modem might be different too. So I'm not too sure if this is possible.
seems no one has answered you as of yet. I am currently investigating to see if some parameters of devices rom could be edited. Not sure as of yet, but, will have an answer for you soon enough. will keep in touch.

Definitely not possible, completely different partition tables and the Chinese variant has some extra CDMA and LTE band support to be used in China only.

Actually, China used the GL CP for an earlier firmware it has. Ive been seeing a lot of "cant do's," on this forum and am amazed at how people has set everything to be IMPOSSIBLE. I and another person thats part of these forums have been secretly investigating and am coming up with ideas on how to do things. you are correct as China uses only 2g and 3g on their basebands but are incorrect as to it not being able to work. Research and dig and dig and dig and you will then find the answer. And although my posts and thanks are low does not mean i am a noob. Name change to create a better name for myself with more logic and optimism to contribute what others may feel wont happen. Thank you and have a good evening and its not an attack but a formal gesture to do a bit more research before claiming not possible= impossible.

Didn't take it as an attack.
Would love to see it happen.
Keep updating this thread if you have any updates.

To answer this question, "YES." Yes it is possible to flash the US version AP, CP( it works but has its issues and wouldn't recommend it) CSC should be able to install. !!NOTE!! Please do not attempt to flash BL as it has different settings scripted into it such as ram, storage, etc. G9550/128gb6gb ram G955U/64gb/4gb ram.
Also Note that if G9550 with G955U firmware boots properly, it has been said to be a bit choppier than normal. What is recommended is using the G955U1 firmware. Also, same as above is ONLY able to be flashed and updates with either version have to be done manually, I, have not tried this myself as i am in the process of this attempt. It has been discussed in foreign forums and has been done.
Please do not attempt if you are unable to come out of a brick or soft brick. I am in no way responsible if you mess up your phone. Good luck
tried flashing through normal odin and a no go. trying the modified Odin, but, before i do further readings say the AP and others have to be slightly modded. will look into this more once i finish up here.
Volte probably won't work if the carrier only supports g9550 though, yeah? Would probably give it a go on the weekend. Cheers.

No problem...just a simple question

Recently ordered a “new” (ha, ha) Note Edge (AT&T unlocked, SM-N915A) as a gift. I'm planning on letting it automatically seach for an update over the AT&T servers through Net10.
So...Is this worth doing? Or will the update be buggy and I should just leave it running KitKat?
BTW, the friend is my wife so I would appreciate any advice to keep me from screwing this thing up.
Or, after looking closer at this forum, should I just flash the 5.1 from sammobile and be done with it?

Samsung's update should be higher than 5.1.
With that said, I would leave it on KitKat.
The phone's hardware was designed to use it and anything above that involves a lot of bloatware, in my experience.

This being the case, where could I find the Kitkat firmware download? I know there is a thread filled with the firmwares but what is the file name for it?

I believe in your original post you said the phone was already running KitKat.
