[Q] Bad Sensor? - Onetouch Idol 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just tried using the Google Cardboard App. When using it, everything jumps around slightly, as if I was shaking. This happens even if I set it up on a table and is perfectly still. Anyone else have this issue? Could it maybe be a bad sensor?

The phone needs to have a 3-axis gyroscope as well as accelerometer. otherwise it won't work right. You can test augmented reality apps or photosphere to see if that works

Could you elaborate?
Does this phone not have a 3 axis gyro? Does everyone with this phone have the same problem?
What apps and functions can be used to test this?

I did, the orientation one is jumpy.
So, I will assume hardware issues only on my phone. Back to Amazon goes ...

Hello , I had the same problem and tried lots of solution and it was only fixed when I flashed Marshmallow ROM from "http://forum.xda-developers.com/idol-3/development/rom-firmware-android-6-0-marshmallow-t3398038"

[Q] Gyroscope enabled?

I have tried multiple sensor readout programs and games that supposedly use the phone's Gyroscope if functioning, but don't think it's working. Doesn't this phone have one?

It's got one, we have devices for it in the kernel, but I have no idea how to read it. Catting the dev doesn't work (but it doesn't for the accelerometer either).
Actually... hmm... /dev/k3g has the same broken permissions that were hosing up the compass in some of the early Gingerbread custom kernels. I wonder what happens if I change it. Will try in a day or two, probably going out of the house soon.

Proximity Sensor Fix

I've searched and other than the "Viber" problem, I haven't seen anyone mention anything about the proximity sensor being stuck on(mine is). I tried everything I saw in the forums and saw nothing then was just searching the market and found this:
Rezound Prox Sensor Calibrator
By default, mine showed "NEAR" when the prox sensor came on, so if you change the top setting (Low Threshold) to 100(all the way to the right) then it makes the distance you need to be before the sensor recognizes you as "FAR" about 3 inches away from the phone. Fixed the issue for me, figured I'd help someone else out.
Is it compatible with the S?

Yep, I used it to fix mine
It works for me
Hy there.
Thank you for this. It fixed my phone immediately.
It's just a life saver.

Accelerometer/Orientation/Magnetic sensors.

Can someone tell me where those sensors are located?
The story so far: I thought my last battery had fried the sensors when it overheated. But apparently, the sensors are fine. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.
I just need a fix for this. Thanks.
I believe some are attached to the main flexcable near the speaker and other imbedded into the logic board. Maybe someone else can shed some better light on this.
I have used z-device test (found in market free) for these sorts of test very help full, at least to see what is and isn't working as it should

There's is no proximity sensor on the Note 10.1 that is currently out, I'm not sure about the new one that's coming out. The hover controls are only on the new tablet, but hopefully it'll come to ours in an update.

That'll be the light sensor
There indeed is a proximity sensor, at least it is triggered in the sensor check.

Yes, there is a Proximity Sensor, as a matter of fact, a new keyboard methodology is being developed right now called "Dryft" which is based solely on the proximity sensor in GN10.1. check it out at www.dryft.com

swapping camera sensor's

Iam looking at swapping my isocell camera sensor out to the sony camera sensor. I already took the phone apart and swapped the sensor out but it would not recognize it.
I wish I know alot more about hacking into the software of the phone but i do not can any body maybe make a flashable zip with the sony sensor software? I am willing to pay for your hardwork.

O_O Did you confirm with anyone before doing this, as in whether this is even possible? Sounds like a very dangerous and costly game you are playing.
Youll need to either go through the samsung hidden menu and update camera driver or maybe reflash full firmware with 4 part files

I thought this would be a straight swap. I intended to do the same before I installed my battery cover, but I didn't have the patience to buy/wait for the Sony camera.
