Hi guys,
In the last few days google app is draining my battery. It is disabled for wake up and keep awake in privacy mode, I tried to calibrate the battery, nothing helps. Even when I put it on flight mode, the draining is insane!
I attached screenshots.
My phone is not rooted, and I cannot root it.
Thank you all in advance!
I uninstalled it. I do not ise the cards and voice assitant plus I am an old fashioned guy, using search function in Chrome. By the way I saw other people having this issue, but don't know if it was resolved.
Yeah same for me, mine has been draining so fast when the phone is idle too! I'm running xnph05q cm11.

Thanks. I will try that.
I have other major battery drain problem, even when the phone is idle.
Chrome is a big battery drain, even when I barely use it, and also android system and Android os.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

For chrome, you can do the same thing as suggested above
Android OS and Android System.. You can't do anything with it.. If you play with them, you'll end up making your system malfunctioning..

Hi there,
Until I will have a report regarding your previous suggestion, can you please take a look at my screenshots and tell me why the GPS is always on when I am on battery saving all the time?
Something is draining my battery, I get only 2:30 SOT, in the best case, without games videos music or even phone calls.
Thanks a lot!

As you have not rooted your bacon, only thing I can suggest you is that with the help of Privacy Settings, disable access for wake up and keep awake for the apps which are not oftenly used and also Google Play Services
Battery saver mode disables background services of the apps and lowers done the device performance
Combination of above stuffs can help you increase your battery life to some extend
Your GPS is not always ON as seen from the chart

Hello,
I am on ParanoidAndroid 4.4 and the battery drain is killing me. I have to charge my phone at least twice a day if I'm outside just because I'm scared of having my phone die on me. I was on stock 4.4.3 up until recently but the sudden wakelocks at random times would kill me so I switched to PA to at least have a few extras like Hover and its even worse now. I'm using ElementalX kernel now because of how amazing the battery life is supposed to be but I am almost crying :'(
I have noticed that if I turn WiFi off, the phone will go to sleep without any problems but turn it on and it'll stay up all night and all day draining the battery 2% every 5 minutes of use. It appears GoogleSearch is the culprit but I'd like some more help on this.
I have uploaded some screenshots if anyone could help me I would really appreciate it.
Thank you.

Disable Google Now and Greenify it. If it's a system app, I recommend using a minimal gapps package. Like the one from my signature.
If that's still not good enough, Greenify WhatsApp and Viber. We need to see if they are the cause. I suspect something else is the issue, but let's rule out your top 3.
Oh I almost forgot. Thank you for posting a BBS log without being asked.

Then change it to a user app with Titanium Backup, etc lol. If you installed it from the Play Store it would be a user app, it's installed as a system app if it's flashed in a gapps package. Shouldn't have any problems moving it. You could also Greenify it for free if you did that..

You said you are on PA. You need to wipe system, reflash PA, then flash the Banks minimal gapps in my signature. Then download Google search from play store. Google Now is now user app and can Greenify it. After you do that, send another BBS log.
You will also need Nova launcher or similar. Banks gapps doesn't come with a launcher.
OK guys....look at this I found.
Last night I enabled the new "OK google from any screen" option, in Google settings, OK Google hotword detection.
Then after only after I woke up (didn't charge...I charged before bed) look what I saw....held awake time on Google search, which I've never gotten before.
So a couple hours ago I turned from any screen option off.....no more held awake time on search.
So guys with Google search out of control.....that might be the issue.
Too bad too....I liked that new feature, but Google gone messed it up.....again.

Sadly, this is to be expected at this point.
I think like double tap to wake.... If it isn't on the low voltage core, like moto x always listening is, its never gonna be battery friendly. But people wanted....they got it...kinda. Better than having to be on a certain screen anyway. Just now audio in is listening to every sound it hears.
Hey all!
Has anyone else been experiencing a much higher battery drain with 4.4.3? It's not only me but a bunch of friends and family with the M8 have been experiencing drains when by the end of the day they would have 50% but now it's getting down to 10% or even lower. For me, it will sit on my desk during class and drain a minimum of 15%. Classes are about an hour and a half.
Any tips? It's getting really hard to keep the phone plugged in.
Install Better Battery Stats app (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809) . Let it run for a day and see what's killing your battery. I have a feeling its services within Google Play services. I used "Disable Services" app and "Autorun Manager" app to stops alot of play services from sucking my battery.
I wouldn't say I'm getting significant battery drain going from 1.8 viper Rom 4.4.2 to 2.5 viper 4.4.3 w/ firmware but it is noticeable. Also DS battery saver is good, especially if your in low 4g areas all the time

You seen that google play is killing your battery using the wake lock app? Just wondering or what were you using to see this?
suggestion
After any OTA or official update, its a most perform a factory reset* from Stock recovery.
Follow these steps
So Google Play Serveries suck most of our battery up. I use two apps to stop certain Google play receives from running. From installing the app "Better Battery Stats" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809) you are able to see what wakelocks are draining your phone (Both kernel and partial wakelocks). First app to install is "Disable services." In this app go to Google Play services and disable (some of these are default disabled):
- AnalyticsServices
- GcmServices
- SyncService
- PlayLogBrokerservice
- PackageBroadcastService
- InitialzeInternetService
- UserPresence
- GeofenceProviderService
Now install the app "Autorun Manager." Click on "Advance Mode." Go into settings and make sure "Show system entries" is unchecked. In the advance mode scroll down to "Google Play Services" and disable (some of these are default disabled):
- .gms.update.SystemUpdateService$Reciever
- ..gms.checkin.EventLogService$Reciever
- .gms.CheckinService$TriggerReciever
- .gms.update.SystemUpdateService$Activereciever
- .gms.mdm.recieiver.ActivateDeviceAdminUponUnlockreciever
- .gms.checkin.CheckinService$Reciever
- .gms.icing.service.PowerConnectedReciever
- .gms.mdm.recievers.ConnectivityReciever
- .gms.update.SystemUpdateService$SecretCodeReciever
- .gms.feedback.feedbackConnectivityReciever
-.gms.wallet.reciever.ConnectivityChangeBroadcastReciever
- .gms.checkin.CheckinService$ActiveReciever
- .gms.wallet,reciever.PackageAddedBroadcastReciever
- .gms.googlehelp.service.ConnectivityBroadcastReciever
- .gms.mdm.recievers.LockscreenUnlockedReciever
- .gms.mdm.recievers.AccountsChangedReciever
- .gms.checkin.checkinService$SecretCodeReciever
-. gms.app.receiver.OneTimeInitializerReciever
From doing this...I have 1% drain from all of Google Play Services. When Google Play services updates from time to time, you might have to go back and disable these receivers. On this phone, I am able to get 6 hours of screen time. This is on about 30% 4G and 70% Wifi on a daily basis. Took me some trial and error to disable these services. My setup makes nothing FC at all! Hope this helps. You will yield amazing battery life!

Hello guys
I recently installed Cyanogenmod 11 on my Xperia L and I noticed that the battery drains very fast compared to stock. I searched this problem and it appears to be a deep sleep issue, but i don't really found out how to solve it. My battery stats show a great consumption on Google Play services and Display, so I guess it fits the deep sleep problem. I tried disabling some services, but i don't really know which one since i am kinda noob at this.
If anybody could provide a clear and detailed solution, that would be great. Thank you.

Use the greenify app from playstore
I don't think that would solve much. I installed better battery stats and these are the ones causing battery drain:
Awake
Wifi On
Wifi Running
No Data Connection
No or unknown signal
All these have 100% at battery consumption. Greenify only allows me to put to hibernation apps like Facebook, Messenger or so.
So... any other ideas?

Hey all,
I have an L04 running B360 Nougat with EMUI 5. I updated using Charles method. I noticed the Facebook drain issue pretty much right away after upgrading. So I did a factory reset afterwards, which helped at first. But later in the day, the app started draining again...
With the Facebook app installed, I notice ridiculous background CPU usage on Facebook, using about 20% of battery with over 1 hour of background CPU usage in one day. I tried blacklisting Facebook so it gets closed in the background after screen is locked, but I notice the process just starts itself again without me even opening the app....
I have notifications off on Facebook and a bunch of other things, but it still drained like crazy. My OP3 does not have this issue despite running also on Nougat. I have no idea why it drains so much, when it should be doing absolutely nothing in the background. Seems to keep the phone awake too.
Has anyone else had this issue? Currently the app is uninstalled so that I can get decent battery life.
I noticed increased battery drain in general with Nougat/B360, not sure exactly why. I recommend installing "Swipe for Facebook" in the meantime, as it isn't as battery intensive and is a great replacement for the normal FB app.
The Facebook app had a bug that had an issue with battery drain. Did you installed the latest version?
Try to download the latest Facebook and Messanger app from apkmirror and try again.
Thanks for the quick reply guys. I am going to check out swype in the meantime.

I also recommend FB Messenger Lite if you don't really need the calling features of the regular Messenger app; I'm not a fan of all the Snapchat-like features that they've been adding to the main application lately.
I confirm that the Facebook app, no matter what version you have, is a huge battery drainer. It doesn't respect the EMUI settings or anything. It drained the phone over night even on flight mode.
After uninstalling it, the battery performance on EMUI 5 is very good.

Yeah I saw that on the forum yesterday. But I'm thinking I can't put that update on my L04. Swipe for Facebook seems to be pretty awesome, I have been using that. I also installed the regular Facebook app again to try once more, and it has already consumed 3 times the energy Swipe has consumed, and I used Swipe mostly..

If you go the application info and click on battery, you can find an option to disable the system wakeup (refer to the screenshot).
Overall, I did notice that the battery life decreased after the nougat update. I personally have problems with Instagram, I constantly have the power-intensive prompt notification, and just like you said, the lockscreen-app-kill doesn't work like it's suppposed to.

Its not problem of new emui 5 , Mine is running old version emui 4.1 and still drain battery for better battery performance use facebook via google might be way better then apps through playstore.
I use Facebook Lite and Messenger Lite, you can grab either from APKMirror.
So system wakeup toggle now magically shows up for Facebook. I switched it off, and it has been good on power now. However the funny thing is, when I go to "Apps that use power in background" screen, Facebook is listed there as an application that frequently wakes up the device. It's bizarre.
I'm monitoring power consumption of Facebook closely to see how it behaves.
Facebook is one of the apps that the company behind it has the mentality of "I'm going to run on the background of your phone no matter what". It's absurd. Three apps on my phone, Facebook, Messenger and Instagram (but surprisingly not WhatsApp) wake up at the same time. If one of them is allowed to wake up, wakes up the rest - it's insane. I've tried everything possible on a non-rooted, non-xposed phone. It just starts on the background, and you can see on Greenify wakeup tracker that the trio (fb, messenger, instagram) starts exactly at the same time.
Of course, this is not the first time they are being user-hostile: https://www.macstories.net/linked/the-background-data-and-battery-usage-of-facebooks-ios-app/
The only thing I found that kind-of mitigates the problem is using AppOps by Quixingchen ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rikka.appops ) which, in EMUI 5, allows to remove the permission to run in the background from certain apps. It doesn't require root, but requires to do some tricks with adb and usb debugging. Removing it on the trio of appls forces them to use the GCM push method, which is much battery friendly but may delay some notifications - that is ok for me.
I hope this post helps people with battery drain issues - me personally don't have any issues with EMUI 4.1/5 and facebook, but I was already aggressively trying to make fb stop running in the background, so I don't know what would happen if I didn't.
Let me start off by saying I was so happy with this phone and its battery life but the past couple of days I've seen it drain more than usual. Upon checking I see that Google account manager is responsible for this.
Anyone have an idea what caused this? and how to fix it?
i noticed the same on my chinese mate 9 however the % is below 40 still, from what I can see on my case is the google photos app causing all the noise I had disable synching over cellular data but haven't seen any improvement so far. I did that 2 days ago

Thx for your replies guys!
Meanwhile I accidentally found out that this might be the process what is on other phones the Google Play Services.
I tapped on the Google Account Manager entry and scrolled down to the bottom of the next view and there it is..
Still I haven't seen the "Googl Account Manager" process ever before I assume that Huawei handles or at least displays the processes differently than others (at least Samsung) do.
For me it's a good thing since I see way more processes sucking battery than my SGS7 showed me.
Remembering the battery drain on my SGS7 the Google Play Services had pretty similar battery drain like the "mother process" Google Account Manager has on my P10.
So I think that's it
What do you guys think?
I have the same problem, lot's of times it's a Google calendar fail sync or Google fit fail sync because the system close it and when Google account has do a sync that's impossible because the apps are closed so I'm testing to not force closing Google apps. I will tell you my results

Still shouldn't use that much. Literally it's the most used one. One hour of screen use today and I'm down 25%
My Huawei watch is the only thing connected. No autosync no nothing. Used it minimally. My note 5 after last update and a reset lost maybe 6% all day. Android OS n kernel aren't an option. It's not on 7.0 tho
Does anyone have a solution for this? It is horrible since a few weeks (no update in the meantime, no other apps installed): Google Play Services (Google Account Manager) are very active, device gets hot, reboot helps for a short time, but almost every day I have a huge battery drain. Before the last weeks, this was not a problem at all, battery usage was super.

Do you have developer options enabled?
I've had the same problem, after diasabling developer options it seems to be somewhat better but not really cured.
I also enabled in settings the automatic memory and data cleanup as I've found that cleaning all app caches helped for a short period of time.
I fixed my by doing factory reset. Now everything is back to normal.
Also before I had a problem that whatsapp didn't show messages if I didn't open up the app. This issue also got fixed the same time.
I'm suddenly having high consumption by media server - have no idea what it means and the phone is quite hot.

mediaserver can be due to listening or streaming music, or indexing music.
its fairly normal, however if your rooted you can disable it in an init.d script.
stop mediaserver works.
or
su -c pm disable mediaserver

Thanks, I've been listening to music all day. I'm not rooted so I guess I'll have to keep on with it.
Shut down for a while then restarted the phone and it's no more getting hot.

ive still got issues with android os using the most power. i only get 6-7 hours max screen time. i use my huawei watch via BT. latest update for the USA 183
Seems to be getting worse. Now I'm slated max 27 hours. WTF
in reality battery life never gets better. The constant discharge, and charge rates only put wear and tear on the battery. It would great to have the ability to swap batteries on the fly.
