[Q] Right side of display is grayish/dark - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
I have recently bought a new xperia z3 D6633. Issue is, the right side of my phone's display appears darker/grayish than left side (on white/light background). Almost half of right side appears grayish. I m not sure if this is a hardware issue or software. I m on lollipop latest build available for my phone.
Is anyone else facing the same issue? Is there any way i can fix this issue.

Seems like a hardware issue and I would replace my phone on warranty.
To be certain, just repair your phone using Sony PC companion and see if it gets better or stays the same.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately my phone is not in warranty, I got it wothout warranty and now having this issue. Anyway can you please tell me how to repair phone using PC companion? Last time I tried it, it flashed factory ROM again and wiped all my data. But let me check PC companion again.
To me, it also seems a hardware issue.

[Q] Wifi keeps dropping on Xperia J

After the JB update (to 4.1.1.), wifi keeps dropping, in the sense that I can still see the wifi signal on the status bar, is not grey, but no data packages are sent/received. What is weird is that many times I can get the wifi to work again by locking and then unlocking the screen, even though I have the wifi sleep policy set to never. Having it dropping all the time was a big annoyance, so I tried the tips regarding wi-fi routers settings (on 2 different connections) and different wi-fi settings (like having auto IP support on and avoid weak connections off, with stamina mode also off). Nothing changed.
I have done countless factory resets and software reinstalls through PC Companion and SUS and nothing changed, so I took it to the repair center where they downgraded my phone to ICS. Even though before my JB update my wi-fi worked like magic, now with ICS the wifi keeps dropping. I have done other factory resets and software reinstalls before updating my phone to the latest JB (4.1.2.). Again, no improvements.
What else can I do, besides rooting? Can it be a hardware issue?
Same, but you can get 4.1.1,what firmware name?
Send from Malaysia by Xperia J

Actually, I've checked and it seems I have tried the 11.0.A.7.5 firmware (ICS) and 11.2.A.0.21 and 11.2.A.0.31 (JB 4.1.2.).
sounds lika a hardware problem bro. If it was software problem then it would be a module problem which would be fixed by reflashing the kernel which is where the wifi modules are written. Do you have a ST26a or ST26i.

A ST26i (the global version of the phone). Thank you so much for your answer. So, the reflashing of the kernel is what happened when I reinstalled the software? The question sounds silly, but I'm a noob...
Also, I'm a girl...
Thank you again!

Yes thats why i think its a hardware problem flashing the firmware reflashes the kernel aswel so if it does not work after that then you will have to send it for repair.

Thanks for your explanation...now I hope the guys from the service will understand this issue...last time they only downgraded the software and overlooked the touchscreen issue for which I have sent them the phone (I had to send it again for repair afterwards).

It lagged really, really bad, making it unusable at times - so that was the second issue for which I have sent it at the service despite the wi-fi problem. After they have downgraded the software and the problem with the touchscreen persisted, I insisted to have them look to the phone a second time and they discovered they had to change the touchscreen. So that one is solved. The wi-fi issue I described remained Guess I'll pay them another visit....

If it is the wifi chip it can not be fixed as it is just a small chip on the motherboard i don't think it can be fixed. is it still under warranty.

Z3 D6603 does not vibrate

Hello fellow z3'ers, so I picked up a 2nd hand z3. He was the original owner. He also sent it back to sony because of a previous problem which was it wasn't connecting to a network. So he got a replacement. Which I have now.
The vibrate does not work with any notifications or phone calls or texting.
I'm not rooted. On the latest 5.1.1 build 23.4.A.1.232
The good part is that he said he would handle the warranty exchange for me.
But I would like to know if anyone has had this problem or know how to fix it. Because I don't want to send it in but I will of I have to. So yea.
I've factory resetted already. Don't know what else besides that.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Were you ever able to solve this problem?
I have the same problem on my Xperia Z3 International version (D6603).
I believe it is a hardware problem.
Definitely a Hardware Problem.
its a hardware issue, vibrate on mine went flaky after about 6 months of owning it

Hello and welcome to xda-assist,
in my opinion there's nothing we can do for you, as you already tried pc companion (reflashing firmware) and factory reset without luck and furthermore you had it diagnosed broken motherboard by the service center..
These are all options I could think of, long story short, a broken hardware cannot be repaired by software..
Anyways feel free to ask again here

Good luck
hey Sam, Thank you very much for replying to my query....
but i need to ask one more thing.....is it really possible to have such issues in handset due to some problem in motherboard, because service centre is not ready to tell actual problem in motherboard even after asking so many times. I doubt their intentions and I feel that they are fooling me just to earn more money....I will take handset to local repair shop once i get it back from service centre to cross verify it.

Touch Isn't working *Screen NOT cracked*

Hello, so i had my OnePlus one for a while and just recently i dropped it lucky the screen didn't crack and opens up just fine but the touch stopped working is there a fix for this? And how do i go about it.. I'm currently in Egypt so there isn't really any replacements and anyone who knows much about this device to be able to repair it at a decent price. I would like to fix it on my own, and i honestly hope its just a wire unplugged or something..
Thanks.

If you're screen stopped working after dropping it, it is most likely damaged. Dropping it will not cause any rom to malfunction and stop touch from working. It may be a loose connection, or if you got the device used from somewhere, the screen may have once been replaced and the replacement may not be as good as the original (which by no means was perfect either).
It happened to me. Open your opo, disconnect and then reconnect the screen.

Question Iqoo 7 wifi hotspot error... motherboard issue??

Hello,
I own a 2 months old iqoo 7 (12/256gb),the issue i am facing is all of a sudden i cant use my wifi or hotspot feature as it wont turn on,upon re installing the os at service center,i was told the issue isnt with the device software but its with motherboard and wanted me to go ahead with the replacement of motherboard free of cost under warranty.
I denied because i think its not the motherboard issue,as i can use both wifi and hotspot seamlessly when i reboot in safe mode.
Somebody please guide me with the right course of action,i should follow to get this sorted.
Thanks.
I suspect there's nothing that you might be able to do in this case as nothing can be done from consumer's side without root and since the mobile has been reset and flashed again, that would point there is something wrong with some component and software compatibility.
I'd suggest to go for motherboard replacement if possible.

Thanks for the input,i would like to mention here that all of a sudden the problem vanished on its own,and i can use both wifi and hotspot seamlessly, all i did was reboot in safe mode and switch on my wifi then boot back in normal mode..after doing this for 2-3 days in a row,now i can use it normally.
No idea what went wrong and where and how did the problem resolve on its own..
