[Q] Freedom Pop nexus 5 issue - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I bought the freedom pop nexus 5 phone. I was able to receive and make calls with freedompop sim. but signal was weak in my work area so I contacted their customer care to get it unlocked. when they unlocked the phone I was able to receive calls with my ATT sim but cant make calls.
I factory reset the device. when I reboot it is displaying Freedompop home page and asking to activate their service. it is not going inside.
always showing message: " Activation required" - this device is ready for activation. please press the Activate button to continue or visit freedompop.
When I enter into reboot mode ( pressing power button + down volume) it shows device is unlocked but still Phone asks to activate using FReedompop homepage.
Please guide me what steps should i follow to use it with AT&T. I am a newbie here . any help would be highly appreciated
Thanks,
msr

In website, they talk about a host, to modify, have you done this ?
Because FReset only wipe datas, but don't reset root no ? Like this HOST file

Thanks Granopla... I am not aware of that. could you please guide me how to do that? contacting their customercare and getting the device unloked took me 3 days with so many calls ...device still shows unlocked but at the same time asks me to activate

Tell me the basics! Turn Sprint Galaxy S3 into Boost?

Please, tell me the basics, I am a newb.. IF I wanted to "flash" my Sprint phone which says (by Sprint) is "active on an account" and "not clean to activate," and make it another Sprint-based carrier like Boost Mobile, WHAT WOULD I DO???
What programs?
Do I need another phone? .........
Where do I do what?
I know you can plug your phone into your computer via USB but *then what!*
Thanks!
bump
Can anyone give me a general run-down of how this goes please? I honestly don't know what to do!
Bumping for those with the know-how. Is there a guide somewhere?
So... your phone locked on Sprint and you are want to unlock it and use with another mobile provider? If yes, please check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176719

I tried to dial the *#197328640# but all I have accessible on it is the Emergency Dialer and ANYTHING I put on it says "Is not an emergency number."
My phone boots to an OS, has Emergency Dialer only, then accepts no input.
Best way to flash it? As I assume that is what I may have to do? (It is a Sprint phone, am trying to get it off of Sprint and onto Boost or some other such network, as I bought it used and Sprint says it is active on an account)

you should be able to use odin to flash it, but it doesn't remove the simlock, and the number you have to dial should automatically activate when you put in the last #, you don't need to press call. if it doesn't do anything without pressing call, it could be possible it doesn't recognize the code

How do I get my MSL without calling Sprint?

I finally purchased a used Sprint S5 recently. My plan is to put the phone on the Boost Mobile Network. Boost Mobile stores are able to unlock my phone to Boost network, HOWEVER the MSL is needed. Well I'm sure you already know, Sprint is giving me a difficult time. A Sprint CS says the phone's ESN is clear to activate on Sprint, however due to "the way it was purchased" they could not unlock the phone (or give me the MSL) for other carriers. What do I do?

On way is to activate it on someone elses account for just 5 minutes or so. Will give you chance to make sure it works. Then reactive their own phone and you're done. Now have your friend check his email and they will have an email from sprint thanking them for activating the new phone. Look at the email.. It will show some of the device specifics like model number, phone number and also an activation code. The activation code is actually your msl. It's a standard email from Sprint whenever you activate or reactivate a phone from your PC.
So find a friend with a Sprint phone and make sure the account is in his (or her) name. Have them log into their Sprint account on a PC and once they're logged in, scroll down to the "About My Devices" section. In this section you will see is a dropdown box that says "manage my devices". Click the down arrow in the box and choose, "activate new phone". It will take to you to a very straight forward wizard to guide you thru it. Choose no to all the options that they offer and when you get to the part of the activation about resetting the phone prior to activation, don't worry about it. Just click thru the steps of demo window that pops up then close that window after the demo is done. Once you finish the demo and close the pop up window you can continue. Follow the prompts until you click the activate button and turn off the phones as per the message that pops up. When you turn on your phone it will be activated with a voice and data signal. The whole process takes less than 5 minutes. Now check your friends email for your msl and you're done. Then do the same thing again but choose your friends phone to activate (as the new phone). Also note you will need the id numbers under the battery or have them ahead of time.

Thank you for the response I appreciate it. I will definitely consider. Is there any other method besides one mentioned above? I was thinking more along the lines of an apk like "Get MSL" to acquire the lock code. I've been utilizing the search function on both XDA and Google, but it seems that any method using an APK or program is defunct due to the new Software upgrade. Does anyone know of any other way?
Google GTv3.1.5.apk and GTUpdate2_v3.1.8.apk by idone.apps . The "GT" stands for Galaxy Tools; It will internationally unlock you sim as well as give you your MSL, enable hotspot etc... I beleive it was taken off google play, just google the 2 apk files and you'll find them.

Security policy prevents use of mobile data

Hi all. I just bought a S10e (G970U, Snapdragon) from China in order to use it in Spain, with Orange as a carrier. Once I set it up, everything worked fine for about 20 seconds. After that, the mobile data locked down. When I try to turn it up again the device says: "Security policy prevents use of mobile data". I tried to factory reset it several times, try different google accounts, try different SIMs, erase the data from some SIM- and network-related apps, but nothing changes. I guess that this has something to do with Samsung Knox.
What should I do? Is recommendable to contact Samsung support? Can I flash another firmware/ROM that fix this issue? Thanks a lot, any help is appreciated.
PS: Calls and SMS are also locked.

Hi. Thanks a lot for your help! I tried it and nothing changed. Indeed, the security policies were already updated out of the box...
I had the same problem. I had a signal but could not send/receive SMS or calls. After talking with carrier tech support and Samsung, I went to a UbreakIfix store, where they told me the 10e phones have a problem with the antenna on the motherboard. They said I needed to send the phone back to Samsung to get the mobo replaced. I just sent it back to the seller and bought an S20.
Also on S10+
I'm having the same problem on my GM-975U1 S10+. Basically mobile data and texting works long enough to authenticate into the Samsung account during setup, but once the android home screen appears after finishing the setup I can't place any calls and trying to enable mobile data gives a "Security policy prevents use of mobile data" error when attempting to enable it. Neither AT&T or Samsung have given instructions on how this can be fixed. It's behaving similarly to if the phone's IMEI were on a blacklist, but I get immediately shut out once the setup process completes.

have you found any solution yet I am having same issue with my samsung s10e and I don't even understand what app or policy is preventing me from making calls. BTW I am using clean esn phone. As soon as I pass the setup screen LTE signal goes away and it stops working.

I haven't found one yet either. Apparently the phone I purchased is locked to Tracphone after paying for an IMEI lookup (got scammed by an ebay seller who said it was the unlocked model), and the phone isn't able to do calls/mobile data properly except during the initial setup. Tried with SIM cards from two different US providers that both aren't working on it, and can connect to wifi just fine. Can see in the phone information test menu by dialing *#*#4636#*#* that my sim is being recognized, shows my phone number and IMSI, can switch between network types and see the cell towers it connects to; but isn't able to send/receive calls or mobile data. It fails the Ping test with 'Fail(2)' and HTTP Client Test with 'Fail: IOException'.
It's also showing that the phone receives a call inside of the Service Mode menu by dialing *#197328640# and going to '[1] BASIC INFORMATION'. Placing a call from another phone shows that my S10+ is picking up LTE bands and has some RF parameters that change when my number is being dialed, but don't get the option to pick up the call. It's also able to detect that I have a voicemail but am not able to dial in and listen to it. The Tx Pwr says '-- dBm' so I ultimately can't tell if it's a software or a hardware problem.

I am facing the same exact issue my sim number it shows inside the phone and signal I am getting is in negative dbm also my sim receives calls during the initial setup and as soon as the setup completes the LTE network goes away call gives error " call not sent". I am irritated by this now and there is no root available for this model so I cannot flash any custom rom to check. I have seen many people have same issue but no solution yet.
If your phone locked to a particular network, ie TracFone,AT&T, TMobile, Cricket, etc, then that is only network it will work on. Doesn't matter what custom ROM you use. You will need to get the network unlock code either from the network it's locked to or from a reputable online unlock site. Good luck getting it unlocked.

my device is already unlocked. It is not an unlocked phone issue. This is some stupid policy which is preventing from making calls or using data. Maybe this policy is saved in EFS don't know.

That's strange, it's acting exactly like a network locked device. When you say it's unlocked, are referring to the bootloader or network? Did you buy it new, unlocked from a reputable dealer? Check the firmware and make sure it is unlocked. There are other thread here with the same issue and message, those are all network locked phones.

I don't know I bought it from mercari that seller told me it is tmobile unlocked, but while checking I found the model number is G970U1. csc is XAA and binary U4. Bootloader is locked. Networks seems to be unlocked as when I put it my sim card it works till initial setup screen and then stops working. I searched it maybe locked to Consumercellular but is there any way I can unlock it ? I didn't find anything online.
Sounds like the seller lied to you.
Is there any way to unlock CC device ? I am on Binary u4. I am able to flash both g970u and g970u1 firmware but no success.

My S10+ model G975U is network unlocked, with the bootloader locked. I bought a network unlock code, but am getting the same behavior where the intial setup allows me to sign into my Samsung account when putting in both an ATT and T-Mobile sim card. I've also tried reflashing it with several different firmwares both carrier locked and unlocked, but this phone has been sitting in my drawer for the past month since it's unusable. Probably will end up trading it in since I was scammed by the random ebay seller I bought this from.

I'm having the exact same issue. Bought s10+ off ebay for 200 locked to consumer cellular. Bought an unlock code. It said unlock successful. Now get this error with any sim. It will show lte during initial setup only.
It will show that it's at&t or verizon when I put the sim in and populate the proper apn settings.
Before the unlock I would get the sim not provisioned error.
I did have to look up the dial code to make the unlock code window appear.
Now i can't actually use any service and i get the security policy error.
Finally was able to find the xaa firmware which seems to be the exact firmware on it.
Then lash that as no other u1 firmware would flash.

I'm from the Philippines and my niece phone is network lock ( Smart Telecom ) I can use the sim 2 slot since it's a dual sim using another network Simcard, unfortunately, it won't allow me to use mobile data so I tried unlocking it *#272*IMEI FROM SIM 1 SLOT# so I choose GLB for globe network or XTC to openline so here's what happens, it got reset so upon set up yeah other sim works have data but when finish setting up everything I can use data again on other network and a message pop up
Security policy prevents use of mobile data
so I guess even it allows other network Simcard on network lock phone it needs to be unlocked by the network where it was lock
Did anyone ever find a solution to this problem?
I'm having the exact same problem with a new samsung s10e I just bought. Security policy prevents use of mobile data, and no calls or sms will go through. LTE shows on setup, but disappears as soon as setup is complete.
I initially assumed the phone was locked, but the seller is reputable and insists it is unlocked. It's also a U1 model, and an IMEI lookup appears to show that it's unlocked. In connection settings under mobile networks, i'm also able to select multiple carriers, so I'm inclined to believe that the device really is unlocked.
Anybody here ever manage to solve this problem, or am I SOL? I would hate to be out 200 bucks on this phone since i'm past the return window.
I am having same isuue with samsung not S20 ultra (SM-N986U1) I bought the mobile and its unlocked the seller send to me photo for the check screen and its open USA but can not use mobile data and make any calls when a make a call the call ended and give me screen call not sent

Bypass activation on Verizon Pre Paid Samsung A02s

Hello,
I'm trying to bypass the need to activate a pre paid Verizon Samsung A02s and just use the phone as a WIFI device. Any suggestions?

Same here, looking to use Wi-Fi only. Tried several dialer codes to no avail.
am in the same boat.
Maybe the phone has to be unlocked so it will activate with any sim card?

Ok
The phone is stuck on the activation/setup screen after Factory Reset , there is no way to access the phone apps drawer or home screen
And no, it is not locked with a Google account .
Ad no, there is no choice to enable wifi.
It asks for a Verizon sim card
“When you are at the activation screen, press the emergency call button, and dial: * # 8 3 7 8 6 6 3 3. Finally press the Home key and voila, you should be at the home screen!”

There is no home key, only back key .
The code didn't do anything , just stay there in the phone dialer.
Thank you
MOD ACTION:
Thread closed.
If the provider has locked the phone and linked it to his service, usually there is a reason like payment due to the provider. There may be other reasons also depending on the contract. In such cases, the proper way of unlocking the phone is to contact the provider.

Verizon z4 on tmobile

Finally upgraded from my moto Z2 force. Wanted to keep all my motto mods so I purchased a Verizon unlocked moto Z4. Calling text data all work fine but I'm unable to get an option for voice over LTE and and when I make a phone call it drops to 3G. I visited a store and they replaced the SIM card. Unfortunately I'm still getting the same results, any hint tips clues on how to make this work ?

I have a Retail unlocked Z4 on verizon service, so a different situation than you. However, I have had some experience with my VoLTE disappearing from my Phone Settings>Network&Internet>Mobile Network menu.
To fix this:
1. I log into my verizon account from a pc,
2. go to Features/Add-Ons
3. Disable the Advanced Calling/VoLTE
4. Accept the terms&conditions about "changing your plan"
5. Confirm the change.
6. Reboot phone.
7. Go back into Features/Add-ons
8. Enable the Advanced Calling/VoLTE
9. Accept the terms&conditions about "changing your plan"
10. Confirm the change.
11. Reboot phone, and VoLTE should be showing back up on your phone settings (may have to give it an hour or two then try rebooting phone, just turn off and back on again).
The last time my VoLTE disappeared, I kept getting an error when trying to disable the Feature online in my account on my pc. I did the above steps disabling and then enabling a different free feature, and the end result was the same: VoLTE was back on my phone settings.
Maybe try doing something similar while viewing your TMobile acct on a computer.
Alternatively, if you have a family member or buddy that can let you pop in their VZW SIM card in your Z4, then go into their acct settings on a pc, do what I mention above, and then once you have VoLTE back on your phone settigs: Turn off phone and give them back their SIM Card, nothing would have really changed on their acct, and your phone should still have VoLTE in settings (until...I find the VoLTE disappears for me only after some of the Android security OTA updates, which fortunately/unfortunately are not really happening to our Z4s anymore).
Hope this helps.
