[Q] 3G/4G switch to SIM 2 - HTC One E8

I want to switch 3G/4G to SIM 2 from phone menu, like Huawei Honor 6 Plus. There is no application to add this setting? Is there a ROM version that includes this option? I need it very much.

Can't be done. Hardware wise, only SIM 1 supports 3G/4G. 2nd SIM is a 2G only slow.

Hi there! Do you have Source for these specs?? All literature I can find shows the following for both these models:
SIM 1: LTE/WCDMA/GSM (2G/3G/4G/LTE)
SIM 2: GSM 2G only
If you're right, I will be VERY happy!

HTC china official website

I want to Believe!
I feel like Fox Mulder, 'cuz I want to believe!
But sadly, I cannot see these specs for this phone as you mention at the Huawei or HTC sites... (only one specific online mobile phone vendor shows the Honor 6 specs as you do, and their accuracy in other models is questionable).
Everywhere I look tells me these phones have the SIM2 slot at GSM/2G only.

Thanks - looks to be correct, much appreciated.
So, aside from the Xperia Z3 dual, this is the only other phone that I can find that offers this functionality. But the limitation that only ONE of the SIMs can be on WCDMA at one point in time, while the other is forced to GSM, also seems to exist on both phones. I can attest to the Z3 personally.
I don't have two GSM SIMs to see if both SIMs can simultaneously be on GSM - but I would love to know if it is indeed the case!

[Q] HTC Sensation 4G supported bands/frequencies

Hello, I'm planning to get the HTC Sensation soon. I'll buy it from eBay because it won't come in Greece soon and I've found a pretty good deal for the Sensation 4G that will be released in US. However, to be able to use Greece's mobile networks it has to support GSM900 & GSM1800 and WCDMA2100 for 3G. What are the supported bands on the Sensation 4G?
Edit: GSMArena says that it supports these bands (http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_sensation_4g-3922.php) but I need to be 200% sure as I'm buying from eBay and returns aren't easy there, if not impossible, and I don't wan't to have a phone that can't work as a phone
same here
hope that i'd get tmobiles on the 8th
i asked some ebay seller and he told me it supports
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
hope someone can confirm that too

Did you ask rhk735wo0? I have also asked HTC and waiting for a response, and at the GSMArena page about the Sensation it says it support all GSM frequencies and 900/1700/2100 for 3G. I also found this image below from the FCC Test of the phone that says that it doesn't support GSM 900 and 1800, thus I will not have 2G reception and that's pretty bad.

OMG, where did you find that page? I've been searching the whole United States site for it! Seems like we can trust that and based on that information it supports all GSM bands so we should be ok with 2G. For 3G, at least here in Greece, I need WCDMA2100 which I'm pretty sure it supports. But I will wait for HTC's reply before buying it. Another thing would be whether we will have the same software with the European version, eg. wallpapers and if it will have a bunch of bloatware from t-mobile. But I guess when the bootloader is unlocked we can flash a European version.
I've heard a few conflicting things too. I need the appropriate bands for my provider here in Canada and it looks like the UK version should suffice. Still waiting on HTC or some more forum members to chime in though.

Sure. Personally, I'd feel more safe and comfortable if I bought the European version from UK, but there's a huge difference in price. The cheapest European version I can find on eBay is 650 euro while the other day there was a preorder for the 4G at 470 euro (unfortunatelly it sold-out immediately) and now I can find the 4G at 530 euro. So I'm saving over 120 euro here! I may also wait for it to be released in the US and maybe the prices on eBay will fall (preorders tend to be more expensive).
You guys are slightly mis-informed. The AWS 3G bands have nothing todo with 2G service. Almost all of HTC's devices are quadband GSM, hell almost all the GSM phones in the world are quadband, meaning that they all pretty much universally support 2G(GPRS and EDGE).
The T-Mobile US variant of the S4G SHOULD have
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
as stated above.

Thank you very much. The different opinions I've read around the Internet caused a bit of confusion on my mind . So do you think it's safe to preorder the Sensation 4G on eBay to use it in Greece (we have GSM900/1800 for 2G and WCDMA2100 for 3G)?
Sorry for asking so many times for confirmation etc. but they guy selling it doesn't accept returns and I don't want to be in a situation having to sell it to get a European version and losing money and time in the process...

So, the Sensation 4G will work on Greece's 3G networks that use the 2100 band. And for GSM network, ashasaur's statement is quite reasonable. It should support all 4 bands, but I'm waiting for HTC to confirm this...

Yes, should work fine on 2100 3G. I'm counting on it for international travel. GSM should also be quad band, but understand waiting for confirmation.
Another thing that's worrying me is whether the Sensation 4G will support the same roms/kernels/mods/radios etc. with the European Sensation. I'm asking because while the HTC Desire has huge developer support, the US (CDMA) version has minimal support and roms etc. are not universal between the two.
PS: Still waiting a reply from HTC to confirm the supported bands...

If anything I'm guessing that's because one is GSM & the other is CDMA. When the Touch Pro 2 dropped & had both a GSM & CDMA version the CDMA was left in the cold while everyone worked on the GSM one & they were not interchangeable.

I don't see why it shouldn't. The only other time I saw where US & EU ROMS weren't interchangeable was with the HD2 since the tmous version had a 1GB ROM vs the 512MB one for the EU. Unless tmous changes anything like that, they should all work on any Sensation.

[Q] 700 MHz band

So, I just read that the DoJ signed off on the deal for T-Mobile to buy Verizon's 700 MHz band. I looked up the Nexus 5 specs and it seems like it doesn't actually support that frequency. It would make sense since the N5 doesn't work on Verizon's network. Does this mean though that whenever T-Mobile gets to implementing the bands, N5 owners won't be able to use them?
EDIT: I'm actually not sure anymore, I just checked gsmarena and they say that it does have the 700 band. Anyone know?
Wont support it as of today there are no phones on T-Mobile that support that 700Mhz Band

Nexus 5 supports LTE band 17, but not band 13. So it depends which block of 700 MHz is used. Thats why people on the verizon side of the Nexus a very few of them can pickup the signals because in that particular market they use band 17 where as major verizon markets use band 13**
** Band numbers may not be correct but you get the point

read this about the differences b/w 700mhz bands 12 (t-mobile bought) and 17 (which nexus 5 supports), 12 and 17 overlap, and the problems and screwups along the way
http://www.extremetech.com/electron...le-of-regulatory-and-interoperability-failure
that saying, there is no way to convert a phone that supports band 17 to 12 after manufacture (you can do it before manufacturing by modifying a few filters and other stuff since the two bands overlap)

Xiaomi MI 4, warranty and LTE questions for the UK...

Hi,
Not sure whether this was the right place to post but anyway, I saw the xiaomi mi 4 announcement and am very interested. I have a few questions though:
Regarding a warranty, does xiaomi provide a standard year warranty if something goes wrong 6 months down the line or will the person I buy it off, (probably an eBay seller once it starts getting sold) provide one?
Regarding LTE, I saw initially it would not support UK LTE, when I saw this:
Xiaomi has confirmed that the Mi4 will support 4G but only TD-LTE so far, no word on whether or when it will support the more common FDD-LTE standard.
Here's where I got the info:

Here's more info on TD LTE and FDD LTE:
http://www.cnet.com/uk/news/why-your-next-4g-phone-should-have-fdd-lte-and-tdd-lte
But I also saw one other link saying both so I was hoping someone can confirm this for me.

No. At the moment, the only 4G mi4 that has been released is for China, TDD LTE.

No it's not:
Mi 4 is TDD LTE for China:
4G Network TD-LTE 2570-2620 / 1880-1920 / 2300-2400 - 4G model
The first Mi4 released will be for WCDMA only, we are expecting other versions later this year which include LTE band support. To be clear, TDD-LTE bands will NOT work outside of China mainland, if you require European LTE band support you will need to purchase the FDD-LTE version (date not yet announced). We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

FDD LTE is not yet released and if you buy a MI 4 right now, 4G will not work in USA/Europe and other places
Some popular FDD Bands are:

Therefore the Mi 4 won't work unless a FDD LTE version is released

Yes, Correct. The current 4G M4 is TDD-LTE only.
All the Mi4 on sale now is not support any FDD-LTE. And the 4G version with FDD band will not on sale before Nov 2014. And you can not get it until next year, 2015. This is Xiaomi, Keep us waiting.
What i said is about future M4 with FDD-LTE if you like to buy....
When the Mi4 FDD-LTE Version is released, does it mean that the FDD-LTE-Module will support all LTE Bands ( 800 / 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600 ) ?

- LTE FDD Band 1: 1920–1980 MHz (UL), 2110–2170 MHz (DL)
- LTE FDD Band 3: 1710–1785 MHz (UL), 1805–1880 MHz (DL)
- LTE FDD Band 7: 2500–2570 MHz (UL), 2620–2690 MHz (DL)
- LTE FDD Band 20: 832–862 MHz (UL), 791–821 MHz (DL)
- LTE TDD Band 38: 2570–2620 MHz (UL), 2570–2620 MHz (DL)
In the US you won't get 3G or 4G on the Honor 6 at all. You'll need Honor to release a model for the US market. China uses similar frequencies and bands to Europe with the exception of 4G which uses a different system (TDD).

The model I'm looking at says its FDD LTE and supports 4G:FDD-LTE:B1(2100MHz)/B3(1800MHz)
3G:UMTS(WCDMA):850/900/1900/2100 Mhz
2G:GSM:850/900/1800/1900
will it still not work in US ?

those are some for T-Mobile

Note 5 2g/3g/4g bands and compatibility

This is n920p's frq chart
NETWORK Technology
GSM / CDMA / HSPA / LTE
2G bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
C
3G bands
HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 - N920P
4G bands
LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 17(700), 20(800) - N920P
Speed HSPA 42.2/5.76 Mbps, LTE-A (3CA), EV-DO Rev.A 3.1 Mbps
GPRS Yes
EDGE Yes
Seems to be some confusion about people and not getting lte and other frequency channels
Please note that ure carrier has to support said listed lte only bands to get lte.
just because ure carrier supports 850 on the gsm side and not on the lte side.
this means u still will not get lte.
I have noticed that some overseas from U.S. do not support lte in general. again because carrier says 2g 850 and u see phone supports 850 on 2g and lte does not mean u get lte .
Kinda hoping this clarifies a little more and to find ure carriers freq chart google it (your carrier)(your country)frequency bands
I see in a lot of n 5 roms. People not getting lte. Not getting signal. Not getting mms. Most def can and is a real possibilty.
If im wrong on any of this. Please correct me.

There is no option to add other bands from Service Menu.
Do you know how to add Additional Bands?
