So, I just read that the DoJ signed off on the deal for T-Mobile to buy Verizon's 700 MHz band. I looked up the Nexus 5 specs and it seems like it doesn't actually support that frequency. It would make sense since the N5 doesn't work on Verizon's network. Does this mean though that whenever T-Mobile gets to implementing the bands, N5 owners won't be able to use them?
EDIT: I'm actually not sure anymore, I just checked gsmarena and they say that it does have the 700 band. Anyone know?
Wont support it as of today there are no phones on T-Mobile that support that 700Mhz Band

Oh really? Damn, that's disappointing. I found this on gsmarena so I thought there might be a chance "LTE 700 / 800 / 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600 - North America version"

Nexus 5 supports LTE band 17, but not band 13. So it depends which block of 700 MHz is used. Thats why people on the verizon side of the Nexus a very few of them can pickup the signals because in that particular market they use band 17 where as major verizon markets use band 13**
** Band numbers may not be correct but you get the point

read this about the differences b/w 700mhz bands 12 (t-mobile bought) and 17 (which nexus 5 supports), 12 and 17 overlap, and the problems and screwups along the way
http://www.extremetech.com/electron...le-of-regulatory-and-interoperability-failure
that saying, there is no way to convert a phone that supports band 17 to 12 after manufacture (you can do it before manufacturing by modifying a few filters and other stuff since the two bands overlap)

Dear Colleagues
I would like to purchase a sony experia z3 right now in UK but want to ensure I can use in India and USA as well later on including 4G.
I am not technical guy and unable to figure. I believe amazon uk i selling D6603 whereas Indian flipkart is selling D6653. Any idea of usability?
amazon uk - D6603
sony website whitepaper shows
D6603 UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1700 (Band IV),
1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) MHz
GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17, 20)
flipkart had model D6653
D6653 UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1900 (Band II),
2100 (Band I) MHz
GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
TD-LTE (Band 40)
FD-LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 28)
Pls let me know as all bands are confusing.
I would like to purchase from amazon uk but just want to makes sure can use later on in India as well?
Kindly advise
whitepaper
Get the D6653, it has LTE Band 40 (2300Mhz), thats the LTE band in use in India.
If you don't care about LTE, either one is ok. 2G/3G will work on either phone in all those places.
D6603 is better for US LTE compatability.
AT&T LTE - 2,4,5,17
T-Mobile USA LTE - 2,4,12
My gf has the Moto G 2013 (1st Edition) Global GSM xt1032. Will it work in Japan?
Here are the specs from Motorola's website:
Global GSM Model:
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
UMTS/HSPA+ up to 21 Mbps (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz)
Requires a microSIM card (not included)
GSMareana.com claims Japan supports the following frequencies:
JAPAN
2G capabilities
3G capabilities : UMTS 800, UMTS 900, UMTS 1500, UMTS 1700, UMTS 2100
4G capabilities : LTE 850, LTE 1500, LTE 1800, LTE 2100, LTE 2500
It would appear Japan supports UMTS 900 and 2100 which the xt1032 supports so 3g should work, but I don't know if I am doing this right so I would like confirmation.
Thank you!
I've used mine with no issues for around 5months! I believe Japan uses UMTS 2100.
However, you will probably not be able to use the special mobile email that Japanese networks use.
if so, what model will work best in USA? Is the appropriate model rootable/unlockable yet?

I bought the 6603 from a US online e-tail shop and it works well with TMo.
The ones from Japan only support bands for Japan so it'll not work in the U.S
Sent from my XT1053 using XDA Free mobile app
Talking about LTE in North America below. Bare in mind that band 12 (700 mHz) is T-Mobile only, band 13 (a different 700 mHz) is Verizon only and band 17 (another 700 mHz) is AT&T only. Don't worry about anything below 4G LTE, they all work anywhere. Lacking a band that your network provider has doesn't mean you can't use 4G LTE with them, it simply means it won't be the best the provider can give (i.e. not the fastest/worse single received indoor.)

D6603
Most adaptable version, Band 2 & 4 work with all major US LTE network providers
Band 13 works with Verizon only while band 17 works with AT&T only
Lacks T-Mobile's band 12
UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1700 (Band IV), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) MHz
GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17, 20)
D6633 (dual SIM)
Same as above but lacks band 13 from Verizon and of course, two sims
UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1700 (Band IV), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) MHz
GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 17, 20)
D6643
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is probably sold in Brazil even though it has the same bands the aboves do
UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1700 (Band IV), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) MHz
GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 17, 20)
D6653
International version, but not international enough for US LTE bands. (I think it's the Asia version.)
UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) MHz
GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
TD-LTE (Band 40)
FD-LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 28)
D6616 (32GB)
US T-Mobile version, only support T-Mobile's LTE bands
Band 12 is T-Mobile only
Band 2 & 4 work with other networks
UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1700 (Band IV), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) MHz
GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
LTE (Bands 2, 4, 12)

Remember, if the phone writes "DoCoMo" or "Softbank"...instead of "SONY" on the top front area of the phone, it's built only for Japan. Avoid those! Hope that helps!
I've been looking into buying a new smartphone off contract and just slipping in a T-mobile SIM card and I was wondering if this phone will be able to work.
I found one for sale on amazon but unfortunately i cannot link it but its named
4G-Unlocked Huawei Honor 6 5.0 TFT LTPS Screen 1920 x 1080 pixel 13.0MP Camare Android 4.4.2 Kirin 920 Octa-core Smartphone 3GB RAM+16GB ROM Dual SIM (white) - International Version
what kind of connectivity will it have ? 2g, 3g, 4g, LTE or HSPA ?

Supported 3G bands:

- WCDMA Band 8: 880–915 MHz (UL), 925–960 MHz (DL)
Supported 4G bands:

- LTE TDD Band 38: 2570–2620 MHz (UL), 2570–2620 MHz (DL)
In the US you won't get 3G or 4G on the Honor 6 at all. You'll need Honor to release a model for the US market. China uses similar frequencies and bands to Europe with the exception of 4G which uses a different system (TDD).

The model I'm looking at says its FDD LTE and supports 4G:FDD-LTE:B1(2100MHz)/B3(1800MHz)
3G:UMTS(WCDMA):850/900/1900/2100 Mhz
2G:GSM:850/900/1800/1900
will it still not work in US ?

Seems to be some confusion about people and not getting lte and other frequency channels
Please note that ure carrier has to support said listed lte only bands to get lte.
just because ure carrier supports 850 on the gsm side and not on the lte side.
this means u still will not get lte.
I have noticed that some overseas from U.S. do not support lte in general. again because carrier says 2g 850 and u see phone supports 850 on 2g and lte does not mean u get lte .
Kinda hoping this clarifies a little more and to find ure carriers freq chart google it (your carrier)(your country)frequency bands
I see in a lot of n 5 roms. People not getting lte. Not getting signal. Not getting mms. Most def can and is a real possibilty.
If im wrong on any of this. Please correct me.

Im sorry I do not
Maybe be able to enable them with cdma workshop if you have the msl code
