After the JB update (to 4.1.1.), wifi keeps dropping, in the sense that I can still see the wifi signal on the status bar, is not grey, but no data packages are sent/received. What is weird is that many times I can get the wifi to work again by locking and then unlocking the screen, even though I have the wifi sleep policy set to never. Having it dropping all the time was a big annoyance, so I tried the tips regarding wi-fi routers settings (on 2 different connections) and different wi-fi settings (like having auto IP support on and avoid weak connections off, with stamina mode also off). Nothing changed.
I have done countless factory resets and software reinstalls through PC Companion and SUS and nothing changed, so I took it to the repair center where they downgraded my phone to ICS. Even though before my JB update my wi-fi worked like magic, now with ICS the wifi keeps dropping. I have done other factory resets and software reinstalls before updating my phone to the latest JB (4.1.2.). Again, no improvements.
What else can I do, besides rooting? Can it be a hardware issue?

Actually, I've checked and it seems I have tried the 11.0.A.7.5 firmware (ICS) and 11.2.A.0.21 and 11.2.A.0.31 (JB 4.1.2.).
sounds lika a hardware problem bro. If it was software problem then it would be a module problem which would be fixed by reflashing the kernel which is where the wifi modules are written. Do you have a ST26a or ST26i.

Yes thats why i think its a hardware problem flashing the firmware reflashes the kernel aswel so if it does not work after that then you will have to send it for repair.

Thanks for your explanation...now I hope the guys from the service will understand this issue...last time they only downgraded the software and overlooked the touchscreen issue for which I have sent them the phone (I had to send it again for repair afterwards).

It lagged really, really bad, making it unusable at times - so that was the second issue for which I have sent it at the service despite the wi-fi problem. After they have downgraded the software and the problem with the touchscreen persisted, I insisted to have them look to the phone a second time and they discovered they had to change the touchscreen. So that one is solved. The wi-fi issue I described remained Guess I'll pay them another visit....

If it is the wifi chip it can not be fixed as it is just a small chip on the motherboard i don't think it can be fixed. is it still under warranty.

okay everyone thank you for your time here is whats going on and yes i have googled the problem to no avail thats why im here i have a tmobile htc sensation 4g the wifi turns on works then shuts of i turn it back on and it crashes my phone so im guessing its a software issue something conflicting with something else but not sure could anyone help the phone is stock not rooted no s-off

i have been searching everywhere it has to be software cause it crashes my phone i had it rooted on stock ics flashed the factory ruu wifi came back for a little bit then back to the same problem

i think its software related cause one minute it works perfect the next with out any move ment at all phone freezes hums through speakers and crashes the phone i would post the crash log but dont know how too and yes i have checked the antenna

since the wifi issue the phone has just been a charging phone thats it i use it to charge my batteries since i dont like the heat issue of charging my htc amazed 4g but even before that ive had no issues with the phone when i try to activate the wifi sometimes it will stick to the turning on message sometimes it will turn on and work but later shut off then when i go to turn it back on it will crash the whole phone i wish i could retrieve the error log to post it but i do not know how too

this was the same beginning i had ,then after a while it died permanently

my phone screen got broken by accident ,and i got the screen from on-line and send it to a local (not htc) mobile repair shop . he disassembled it and re assembled it and then after reassembling the WiFi started to work , i asked him how he said the WiFi connectors might have gotten loose while phone has dropped and while reassembling he might have connected them properly again ,i lot lucky
it might be that you need a new back piece
so would you sugest taking the phone apart

Hi folks, im having a weird problem with my n5, when flashing any aosp rom the touchscreen goes crazy it begin to make autotaps even on lockscreen, its like someone its touching it, i realise that when i go to mahdi rom or purity for example it works well until i have 60% of battery but when my battery goes down of this percentage it goes crazy again, and i have to flash the factory image via fastboot to stop doing that but i notice that even on stock google image the touchscreen begin autotaps when i open camera app, so for that i have to flash cataclysm 4.4.2 to my n5 works correctly only with cataclysm the phone is usable i dont know why... but its like only cataclysm compatible, because i can make everything and no touchscreen issues. I would aprreciate if anyone of you can give a hand with this or have a solution because i want to try a lot of roms but for my touchscreen issues i cant.
P.S. I bought my n5 by google play store in a trip to usa but actually live in ecuador and its difficult to apply guarantee.

With what you're saying here, it seems like a hardware issue if it doesn't even work on stock. When you flashed the factory image, you flashed everything right? Not just the system.img? All I can suggest is try flashing the factory image again, and see if it works. If it doesn't, you're phone is most likely defective and you need to contact LG.

Yeah, that's what I do as well. It is weird that it only works with that rom, but as I said, if it doesn't work on stock, then it's most likely defective.
Yes, even if you bought it from the play store, you can call LG and get service from them. Be sure to lock the boot loader and reset the tamper flag though.

Before you do anything, use this app to reset the tamper flag. Then go into fastboot and flash the factory image. Then lock the boot loader using "fastboot oem lock"

I don't know where you live, but that doesn't sound right. LG makes the phone, so they provide warranty. Even in the US, if I didn't buy the phone from Google, I HAVE to do through LG.
You could buy a new screen, but that's going to be around $200. I would just stick with cataclysm. Or, if you're going to come to the US anytime soon, you could call Google. I'm assuming you shipped it to a friends house or something?

i live in Ecuador btw, yep it ships to my aunt's house, i think i will stick in cata until i can go again to the usa, 200 its the half of what it cost, My first nexus and dissapoint me, well hope i have luck for n6 hahaha

Hmm, well, my D6653 never enters deep sleep when on mobile data. I already did a repair using PC companion, tried other roms, safe mode, no apps etc etc and it still happens.
Is that so? It still prevails after flashing a custom rom? The only conclusion is that it's a hardware problem. But the screen is controlled by software and not hardware. Even I can't imagine why it's happening. I would recommend installing a custom rom or resetting the phone, but since you have already done that, I suggest you to give it to the nearest service center. Or maybe phone is not supposed to enter deep sleep when data is on, that's the only answer if it's not a hardware problem. Hope you find a solution soon! Cheers! :good:

The OP says "No apps" but the OS is perhaps doing something. For example, Play Services gets updated whenever google feels like it. I guess you could try turning off background data. Maybe look at the logcat output and see what was happening when it woke up?
I don't have root so I can't get logcat. I *think* it might be related to fast dormancy (it deep sleeps normally with wifi on) but I can't turn it off without root, and I'm not planning to unlock my bootloader lol. I also don't have warranty since my device was imported.

But that's good since if you have warranty, unlocking the boot loader will void it. So you can do anything with it. Just make sure you go by the steps to be away from errors.

But I don't want to lose all the DRM related stuff :crying: I tried anything I could, even using ADB to change the fast dormancy configuration but nothing worked. Wakelock detector for PC shows my device is awake 20% of the time.
It's not MAJOR, I mean, I can finish the day with 35, 30% of battery left. It just prevents me from having the so called 2 day battery life
My camera has a pink spot on plain white or gray background. Sony cannot help, so it is up to the users to figure this out on their own. How to fix? :good:

Oh that's the same reason why I did not do unlocking and stuff with my phone. Anyways try to contact a service center and get your phone diagnosed. Maybe it can be a hardware fault. Because if it was a software issue, it would have been fixed with a custom rom.

No pink tint in the dark. Only when light is present.

i've tried connecting it to pc, load pc companion but it shows "phone / tablet not connected" - (S1Boot Fastboot failed to install).

Just bought Galaxy S6 yesterday... woked fine until 3 hrs later it jus seems to reboot randomly....like maybe once an hour ...or twice ,,...even 3x's ....woke up this morning my phone was off.... can someone help...I am a medical courier and dependent on my phone to work at all times no problem....to deliver patients medications at any given time.....I cant be at work trying to update my work deliveries on my phone if it keeps resetting...Not what I expected from Samsung's Galaxyyy s6

Factory reset the device. If that doesn't help, your device is probably faulty and you should return it.

Its a wifi issue, there are a lot of people with your problem, try FXR en WiFi Fix. It Doesn t work for me but maybe you are more lucky.

You should try a hard reset and never turn wifi on. I have random reboots and freezes too (even with wifi off) and that solved to me.

I have already returned twice and this one has the same bad signal problem and now it's been rebooting itself..... Missing my Galaxy S5 real bad now

with wifi turned off same problem nothing happened, phone rebbots during searching the web, during talking, same sh*t,
after hard reset during changing language it reboots 2 times, so with my ugly phone there is no problem with wifi but its a problem with cpu or ram vs rom.

Are you on the latest firmware for your region? What about cell signal? Did you install any apps after reset? I'm still trying to figure this phone out... I've been with Samsung 4ever and really want this phone to work right! But might have to cut my losses and go back to my S5

I don't think it's a Wi-Fi issues becuz I am facing the same exact problem, and I'm getting a replacement device too. Becuz it happens even when Wi-Fi is turned off. I think it has to do with the phone can't handle heavy loads when it's doing alot of multitasking the ram management is horrible real bad.

Yea it's just Samsung fault that's all. The only reason I am returning mines though is becuz I rooted it and tripped Knox and now they have came out with a method to root without tripping Knox lol so I am going to get a different one with Knox back to 0x0 but as for the random reboots only Samsung can fix that issue with a software update and don't hold your beath. Because only some devices are getting update which is so stupid.
