Flash always on - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6

So does anybody have this problem on verizon?
I changed 2 phones with Asurion and both have this problem.
Is it software or hardware issue?
I don't know what to do

I have the edge from Verizon. I do not use the fast charger. This may not be relevant to the issue at all. But I usually charge my phone every night while turned off using a standard slow charger. When I first unplug the charger I can see the faint glow of the camera LED. Bye the time I'm finished getting ready in the morning the glow is gone. So sometime within a half an hour it stops on mine. After it goes out I cannot see it at all until I recharge it again. Not sure if there's a fix for it or not.

Well I can't trade in it forever. I guess that supplies that asurion have are all affected.
And i am risking to get refurbished phone since I got new one now.

Well you also don't want one where the flash is always on. You will have to keep trading it til you get one that works. Who cares if it's a refurb. A refurb will probably be free of these kind of bugs anyways. You could also use the samsung warranty and send it in to them to fix. But that is what a refurb is anyways. A fixed unit. Not sure why you are so turned off by the idea of a refurbished unit. I could understand if it looked like it's been in someone's pocket for 2 years but if what you get is indistinguishable between a new and a refurbished one than who cares. As long as it functions the way you expect it to.

Ok, they told me that they will send new one. I just hope so that that one will not have problem. Because it will be third phone from asurion I am getting and there is no way to call them one more time. I am feeling bad about that, it's Samsungs mistake not theirs.

Just in case :*I encountered the same problem on my device (French provider Orange Galaxy S6). Yesterday I flashed the most recent Samsung stock ROM*I could find (G920FXXU1AOD9 ), and things seems to be better now. After I use the flash, it now turns off, although quite slowly (it gets dimmer and dimmer until it is completely off). I would not say it is fixed, but it is a lot better than before, when it would stays lightly lit during at least several hours...
Finally the problem is back after a factory reset. Third replacement needed. Just great.

I have the same issue. I noticed it at 5AM a few mornings ago. I woke up and it was still dark in my room so I clearly saw that it was dimly lit. Very upset about this issue. Why is it an Asurion issue if it's a warranty issue, shouldn't Verizon just send a "new" s6 to you? Ideally, I'd like to trade it in for the same one, but in gold, which is what I wanted to begin with.

Should i get replacement G1, since my screen is loose and it cricks?

Hey guys. I am wondering if I should get a replacement for my G1. I payed $430 , i love the phone! I rooted it ,thanks to the awsome work of XDA developers!!!Thank you very much! I just got a free battery from T-Mobile , but the cricks from the screen and the loosiness is making me replace it. The only thing is that i won`t get a new phone since im using the 90 day warranty. It will be refurbished... What do you guys think? If I send my back , will the notice that i has been rooted, eventhough i`ll flash to normal rc33 Image ?
Don't do it. The creak can be fixed by trimming a simple piece of plastic. You'd better not risk getting an even more faulty phone. Search for the solution.

How did you get a free new battery? I want one too.
But ther rep says that if its not working as i want, i can replace it again. I don`t want to do it my self... My friends phone is not like that, and he have had the phone for longer.. I dunno....grrr...
Btw i just called tmobile and told them that my batter sux, otherwise i love the phone. Told them that i tried everything , from turning gps off and stuff and i still get 3-4 hours which is true... so they said that im in the 90 days warranty so they will send me a new battery and i don`t have to send my old one back wow..
Just get a replacement. Why put up with the hassle of fixing it yourself if you can just get it replaced?
idk, i would say keep your phone, i have always had issues with refurbished replacements, when i was with AT&T and my tilt stopped working they ended up sending me 6 different replacements, all but one were faulty on arrival, the one that wasn't i ended up making faulty cause Hard-SPL wouldn't install. imo it would be better to deal with a minor inconvenience than to get a refurbished phone and be screwed repeatedly till you get one that works
i just say that the phone goes for 200$ refurbished on the net... I payed 430$ , no way doing that... if they were to give me a new one i would accept it
I changed my phone because of this problem, but the other phone ended up with this problem within a few weeks. Not worth the hassle and the noise can be fixed by cutting some plastic away, google for more info.

Random reboots - stock

My fiance is having problems with her phone randomly rebooting. I just updated it to the most recent firmware update, so that shouldn't be the problem, but something obviously is. She wasn't getting much out of her battery life either, usually only a couple hours or so.
What can I do about it to keep her from spending money we don't have on a new phone, other than root it? She won't let me root it and set it up like mine, mostly because she's stubborn.

It looks like she's even got to pull the battery to get the thing to start back up when it shuts down. The charging port seems loose to me, but it charges the battery just fine so I'm not sure that's part of the problem.

I did. It still felt loose even using my cable, which doesn't feel loose in my phone.
She won't want to go through the hassle of talking to tech support to get a new phone, and they'll try to make her take it to a repair center
I put her battery in my phone for the day, and it just shut down, so that was part of the problem.
She said her phone was still dead in like 4 hours today, and that was using my battery which I've had very good luck with.
I think she uses her phone a LOT for facebook and texting, but 4 hours still seems awfully short for battery life

now she says she didn't use her phone at all this morning and it only got 4 hours (on my good battery). I think she's got a rogue app or something using a ton of battery, but it doesn't ever show up in the battery stats. there's no way she'd let me do a factory reset on it again lol.
I'll send her the link on the batteries, but she won't buy them I'm sure. She wants a new phone too badly now.

I figured out what I think was wrong with her other battery. The contacts were set too deep inside the battery casing, so any bump at the wrong angle caused them to lose connection. That's why I don't trust second hand batteries, no matter how good other people say they are.
Both her original battery and my original battery work perfectly fine in my phone, both give me a day and a half. So I know it's not the batteries, it's something wrong with her phone.
Heck, I even offered to switch phones with her, and she said she didn't want mine even though it's exactly the same phone and even newer.

yeah, I know. Doesn't change much when it comes to problem phones other than the fact that you absolutely have to go to a Sprint owned repair center and not a store run by another company. That's where the distance factor comes in and the working with tech support to convince them it's too far to drive lol

Samsung Repair Service wants $300?!

Hello guys. I've sold my note 4 and got a used Galaxy S6, phone had couple of scratches and was in a really good condition. I used it for a month until... I woke up, my battery was at 60-70% but I was going out soon so I plugged it in and my phone started flashing screen white, and I quickly unplugged it. I tried blowing into USB port and it didn't work. Then I plugged it in again and my phone started rebooting randomly and touch buttons stopped working and flashing. Later I took it to official Samsung repair center and they sent It to like a Full/main repair service place. And after a week I got a call from them that they need to replace whole motherboard(which works fine, just USB board is fried) and they said that this phone had modified software and I need to pay 280-320$ to get it fixed.
What's even more funny is that I didn't even root it yet! I paid like 50$ less for the phone with a box and a purchase document. Also the phone is still on warranty until august. What do I do guys?
PS: I always used original USB cable and charger.

If they checked the KNOX bit and it is flipped, then the device is out of warranty. No amount of arguing will change that. Also the warranty doesn't cover devices that have been resold. (Found out that the hard way:crying
You can always go to Samsung Parts to find the piece you need.

Yeah. Unfortunately. I have a non authorised repair service in my city. So I guess I'll take it there, and pay like 80-120$. Better than 300$. I gave them a couple of things to repair before, and they were really good and quick. Samsung dissapointed me once again. Thanks for reply.

Assuming that knox was tripped by previous owner, you really can't fault samsung for rejecting your warranty claim. You knew the risks in buying phones used (as with any secondhand electronics), the previous owner could have tweaked voltage, messed up and sold it. Not trying to upset you, but it is what it is.
Upside is, you no longer have to worry about tripping knox. Flash custom roms as your heart desires. Good luck getting your phone repaired.

Pixel died this morning, no apparent reason

I'm just posting this as an fyi, I hope that fits the spirit of this forum. I have a Pixel 128GB that's completely stock, and it just died this morning, no warning, no apparent reason. It's in perfect condition, never dropped or damaged. It was full charged this morning, worked fine for a couple of hours, and then the next time I tried to use it, it was completely unresponsive. Doesn't react when the charger is connected, just dead.
It's covered under the Google warranty, but it's going to be painful waiting for the replacement. I know it's been mentioned in previous threads, but they make you pay for a replacement phone (as a credit card hold) in order to ship you a new phone. Then they release the hold once they receive the old phone. They told me I'll receive a brand new phone, not a refurbished one. Also, if this ever happens to you, just know that you can select expedited shipping when you place the order for the replacement; they didn't tell me this (I was on the phone w/ google support) and so I missed that opportunity. And there's apparently no way to revise the order to apply expedited shipping, even while the order is still in 'Processing.'
Same phone here. I thought mine was dead too. Phone just instantly shuts off. Need to long hold power button restart. Happened to me numerous times in the past 12 hours. I am unlocked and rooted. I wonder what's going on.

Same thing happened to my pixel today. Was listening to a podcast when it just turned off and won't turn back on, even while on the charger. Not happy! It's only 3 months old, this shouldn't be happening to thee devices. I bought from a retailer, hopefully Google support helps...
Are you using newest february security patch?
Maybe unrelated but I just had similar problem on my old Moto X '14. I'm using it as a backup device on Fi and I accidentally let it run out of power (no idea how much battery was left when it shut down). The phone is running a Nougat rom and it appeared completely dead until a found the suggestion to plug it into "the strongest charger I owned". Did this and let it sit for a while and it came back to life and charged normally. Just thought I'd mention this as it seems to be a problem with Nougat itself (had the same thing happen to my tablet also running Nougat). I'm now scared to let my Pixel run out of juice.

Same here, I bought from a retailer. My headphone jack was making some serious noise when plugging in the headphones, I called up Google and they sent me an RMA. Three days later they had my phone and shipped the new (not refurbished) phone to me. Got it three business days later. So yes, in short they will support warranty on pixels not purchased thru Google play.
I just finished a long useless chat with Google support. I have to go to the retailer for warranty support. If they won't help then I can go back to google. I'm in Australia if that makes any difference

This was my experience too (including the same hardware problem!).
Similar thing happened to me. The phone started rebooting about once a day over the last week. I woke up and it was stuck on the bootloader. It wouldn't load the OS or the recovery.
Bought mine through project Fi but unfortunately its already almost 3 months old and they would only send me a refurbished device.

I felt like I could have written that exact post. Had phone for less than a year, phone also died for no apparent reason. Google support was useless. Had to pay for a refurbished pixel (which costs more than buying new Pixel $800 refurbished, $500 new?)...and now am on a week long waiting game for the replacement. I'm not sure why Google doesn't replace with a new phone vs a refurbished phone. Also disappointed that it takes almost a full week to get replacement. I asked about expedited shipping, they told me it was not an option. Overall disappointed. I may sell my new refurbished phone and buy something more reliable.

It's a minor hw/sw defect in a very extremely small portion of the phones and isn't permanent and they painlessly replace the phones with brand new ones in a few short days after the request is processed. Good luck filing and winning a class action suit against Google over this.
You guys are lucky. This happened to me, but my warranty expired by three weeks. Google refuses to help me. I took it to their authorized repair and they cannot do anything to get it working.

"update" i called google several times and they finally agreed to replace my phone, for free!. I told them that there were a lot of pixel phones suffering the same issues. I even offered to pay to have it repaired/replaced, and i was 5 weeks out of warranty
Same thing happened to me. Was out of the 1 year warranty and the google extended warranty i had to pay $90. This was the third phone it happened to also.

Just happened to me too! Pixel XL died over night, went through google hardware chat support on my pc... to find my phone was out of warranty by 1 day. Looks like they are processing an exception though for me and replacing it (kind of vague though about what they are going to do on their end, so not actually sure what they implied). I also took it to their authorized repair store ubreakifix as well. The technician put in a new battery, screen and charge port with no luck, phone came back as not repairable. Said there was a tiny amount of water damage but nothing was fried so he ruled that out (my phone got a tiny amount of rain on it about 3 weeks ago is only thing I can recall). He believed there is a larger problem with the power mgmt system, another person behind me in line had the same exact issue and outcome.
My phone is also basically dead microphone won't work headphone jack won't work can't record at times have to restart the phone multiple times to get it to work again then craps out again when headphones plugged in straight static then other times you plug it an there's no sound at all also getting restarts

Question Screen Dead?

So my wife was using her phone today and then the screen went black. The phone itself seems to be on as I can feel it vibrate when I try to hard reset it, but no display.
Phone has never been dropped and only about 6 months old. Any ideas? I'm scheduled to swing by UbreakIFix it tomorrow for them to take a look since its under warranty.

Ugh. I took it over to the local ubreakifix and they fixed it (and billed samsung) since it was still under warranty. Looks like it would have been $260 if I had to pay for it.
This happened to me back in June. AT&T was quick with a warranty replacement. Fairly well known issue with this model, as blackhawk said.
Exact same thing happened to me yesterday. Phone was fine when I put it on the charger and went to bed. Woke up to no screen. Had to use power button to turn off my alarm. Soft reset it multiple times with no change.
Luckily had a ubreakifix right up the road and they got it replaced in about 3 hours, free of course. My phone is not even 7 months old yet. Told me as soon as I brought it in that it's been a known issue with this model. Smh.
