Should i get replacement G1, since my screen is loose and it cricks? - G1 Android Development

Hey guys. I am wondering if I should get a replacement for my G1. I payed $430 , i love the phone! I rooted it ,thanks to the awsome work of XDA developers!!!Thank you very much! I just got a free battery from T-Mobile , but the cricks from the screen and the loosiness is making me replace it. The only thing is that i won`t get a new phone since im using the 90 day warranty. It will be refurbished... What do you guys think? If I send my back , will the notice that i has been rooted, eventhough i`ll flash to normal rc33 Image ?

Don't do it. The creak can be fixed by trimming a simple piece of plastic. You'd better not risk getting an even more faulty phone. Search for the solution.

How did you get a free new battery? I want one too.

But ther rep says that if its not working as i want, i can replace it again. I don`t want to do it my self... My friends phone is not like that, and he have had the phone for longer.. I dunno....grrr...
Btw i just called tmobile and told them that my batter sux, otherwise i love the phone. Told them that i tried everything , from turning gps off and stuff and i still get 3-4 hours which is true... so they said that im in the 90 days warranty so they will send me a new battery and i don`t have to send my old one back wow..

Just get a replacement. Why put up with the hassle of fixing it yourself if you can just get it replaced?

idk, i would say keep your phone, i have always had issues with refurbished replacements, when i was with AT&T and my tilt stopped working they ended up sending me 6 different replacements, all but one were faulty on arrival, the one that wasn't i ended up making faulty cause Hard-SPL wouldn't install. imo it would be better to deal with a minor inconvenience than to get a refurbished phone and be screwed repeatedly till you get one that works

i just say that the phone goes for 200$ refurbished on the net... I payed 430$ , no way doing that... if they were to give me a new one i would accept it

I changed my phone because of this problem, but the other phone ended up with this problem within a few weeks. Not worth the hassle and the noise can be fixed by cutting some plastic away, google for more info.

Random Black Screen

Recently my S710 developed an annoying habit of having its screen randomly go black. It's not that the screen actually goes off, since there is still a back light and you can still see very faint image of what should be on screen if you look at it from a certain angle, but not enough for it to be useable.
It started happening after I flashed my rom to Gonzo's Mona Lisa, but I think that's more coincidence than anything else, since it happens with all the ROMs I've tried.
It's not a constant thing, either. It doesn't happen when I do anything in particular. I have noticed, weirdly, that when it does happen while I'm trying to write a text message, turning on caps makes the screen visible. As soon as I press anything else, it goes blank again. I usually just have to wait for it to return by itself. This is, as you can imagine, pretty annoying when you're trying to write messages.
I hate to think this, but reckon it's a hardware problem? I am really loathe to send it in for repair, I'm sure it will cost a fortune.
Hi i got the same trouble,
it became too anoying to use the phone
but the only solution is to bring it back to repair center because they have to change the mainboard and then you get an new IMEI number too.
hope you still have a warranty of the cellphone on it because it's almost the price of the phone if you wanna to be fixed the problem.

Have you installed Mesh?
I have noticed that this only happens when the Mesh client is running.

No dont know even "Mesh" so i m sure it was because the hardware, so decided after 2 month of having the problem to bring it back to the store and there they send it to a repair services after 4 weeks i got it back with a new front cover and new lcd module but the problem was still there and i had to wait another 4 weeks to get it back from the repair service and then like i said in my first post i got a new mainboard with a fresh new IMEI Now i m back with a new phone but i waited 8 weeks
so i dont think it's because a software . Because i tested 2 month before sending it to fix the problem (with warranty )

Hm, How long is warranty? A year? In that case, I do have a warranty. Sounds like this is gonna be a rollercoaster ride, especially considering how reluctant people in my country are to do anything without trying to make it seem like it was your fault.
If you want to take advantage of the warranty, you will have to flash back the original ROM of course.

Yes you have to restaure the original flash, and the warranty is 2 year because mine it had 1 year and 3 month old when i to it to the repair service
for the problem they can not fix it in another way i m sure of that so i guess it's not your fault at all or you have to ask a new one
hope you will go ASAP to the repair service

Oh, I have flashed back to an original HTC rom just out of curiousity that it might fix it . Thanks, I'm sure I'm on a pretty big mission here.

my TP won't charge?

Hey my TP won't charge anymore...
I tried alot of things but nothing worked:
I tried another ROM,
i tried another battery, another charger
The guys @ the shop did'nt know what todo either?
ANd i wont send my tp to htc because the last time it came with alot of scrathes back so.....
I'm kinda desperate here...
Have you tried a hard-reset (not the same as installing a different ROM!)?
yep didnt work either...
Do you still have warranty? I would go for a replacement, because it certainly isn't a software issue.
if you don't want to send it back, another way is to get a cradle that charges just the battery
of course, this wouldn't fix your problem, but it's something you could do

Well is sounds to me like you have got to make a choice, A Working Phone or a Pretty Phone.
At this point its going to need to be replaced, and if you don't want to pay to get it replaced you'll have to get a warranty replacement. In a warranty replacement they will sent you a Refurbished Phone, and It will have scratches, but it will Charge.

Htc One x Burning hot

i put my htc one x to charge and it didnt want to so i checked the charger and it turned off then it got scorching hot and started to vibrate on its own I opened it too see if i could remove battery but battery is difficult to remove so it finally stup vibrating but I am to scared to try to turn it on I left it by the fan so it would cool down. I have no warranty I bought it on the street it was working excellently I have the box and everything. What should I do?
Edit: My cellphone is dead doesnt charge or turn on. Computer doesnt recognize it I just lost $400.00. What should I do I am not the original owner so I cant go to at&t What are my options?
Uh...your first mistake was "opening" the phone. Our phones are not meant to be cracked open...
Maybe something shorted out and caused your battery to overheat like crazy
In my opinion, it sounds like you're out of luck, but wait until other people respond to see what they say.
this phone is relatively easy to open and there are no seal except on the inside screws
I am desperate dont know what to do i have a 400 dollar paper wieght
Device has a 1 year warranty. Are you on at&T? If so call them. They will replace it. If not call htc.
I bought it on craiglist used like for a 2 weeks used and i dont have reciept what should I do Help me i know there are other people whod have had this problem before. i think htc will ask me for receipt
Nobody cares where you bought it. The warranty covers the device. I'll say it again. If you are on at&t call them. They handle warranty claims for you period.
i use this phone on simple mobile prepaid i never have had at&t
In that case call htc. You still have a warranty.
I read the instruction in the box and it says the warranty is for first owner only

You can still try. A 10 minute phone call is worth not losing $400, right? Don't mention that you're not the first owner unless they actually ask.
will try
post any update from phone call
called htc and told them about the heating problem and that cellphone wont charge or turn on they told it was in warranty and that I just had to send it to them

Ta-da!
You got away with one.
Lesson learned: Buying things off the backs of trucks is risky.
Next lesson: Punctuation. ;-)
Sell it on craiglist to cover your loss

Flash always on

So does anybody have this problem on verizon?
I changed 2 phones with Asurion and both have this problem.
Is it software or hardware issue?
I don't know what to do
I have the edge from Verizon. I do not use the fast charger. This may not be relevant to the issue at all. But I usually charge my phone every night while turned off using a standard slow charger. When I first unplug the charger I can see the faint glow of the camera LED. Bye the time I'm finished getting ready in the morning the glow is gone. So sometime within a half an hour it stops on mine. After it goes out I cannot see it at all until I recharge it again. Not sure if there's a fix for it or not.

Keep trading it. It's a known issue.

Well I can't trade in it forever. I guess that supplies that asurion have are all affected.
And i am risking to get refurbished phone since I got new one now.

Well you also don't want one where the flash is always on. You will have to keep trading it til you get one that works. Who cares if it's a refurb. A refurb will probably be free of these kind of bugs anyways. You could also use the samsung warranty and send it in to them to fix. But that is what a refurb is anyways. A fixed unit. Not sure why you are so turned off by the idea of a refurbished unit. I could understand if it looked like it's been in someone's pocket for 2 years but if what you get is indistinguishable between a new and a refurbished one than who cares. As long as it functions the way you expect it to.
Ok, they told me that they will send new one. I just hope so that that one will not have problem. Because it will be third phone from asurion I am getting and there is no way to call them one more time. I am feeling bad about that, it's Samsungs mistake not theirs.

Just in case :*I encountered the same problem on my device (French provider Orange Galaxy S6). Yesterday I flashed the most recent Samsung stock ROM*I could find (G920FXXU1AOD9 ), and things seems to be better now. After I use the flash, it now turns off, although quite slowly (it gets dimmer and dimmer until it is completely off). I would not say it is fixed, but it is a lot better than before, when it would stays lightly lit during at least several hours...
Finally the problem is back after a factory reset. Third replacement needed. Just great.
I have the same issue. I noticed it at 5AM a few mornings ago. I woke up and it was still dark in my room so I clearly saw that it was dimly lit. Very upset about this issue. Why is it an Asurion issue if it's a warranty issue, shouldn't Verizon just send a "new" s6 to you? Ideally, I'd like to trade it in for the same one, but in gold, which is what I wanted to begin with.

Horrible experience my time using Swappa and first time selling my used phone.

Just a warning to those wanting to sell a used phone. There are of course risks associated with this however small it may be.
I have an LG G4 that I hated due to many reasons. The phone was in great physical condition though so I decided to sell it on Swappa. I've given away phones or just kept them around but had never attempted to sell one.
I had already replaced my phone with the LG V20 so the phone sat for a few weeks unused. I charged both batteries and did a factory reset and sold it on swappa.
No feedback was ever left but I didn't mind. About 14 days later the buyer files a claim that the usb port is loose and the phone started to bootloop after he did a sprint update. He had a difficult time getting them to get his information out but best buy finally did.
As a good seller, I refunded him as soon as I got it back but I thought how odd that my phone with a perfectly fine usb port gets all these issues 2 weeks after selling it.
I understand the bootloop may just be REALLY bad luck but the broken port lets me wonder if someone did a motherboard swap. The cord can't even stay in the phone at all. I would NEVER sell something that isn't in great condition which is why I've never sold a phone prior to this. I took pictures of the only small scratch and close ups of the entire phone.
I guess that the only thing I can do is attempt to heatgun the motherboard and when it boot's up, see if the imei matches. End of rant.

I plan on trashing the phone. Figured, that I'd do this before throwing it away. I've used this technique on xbox 360 to repair a hackable xbox and watercooled it (video on youtube). It lasted years until I got tired of it. I've already butchered the free external battery charger to make it charge my v20's battery. I'll be dumping off the 2 batteries at bestbuy's battery dump today.
