[Q] A lot of issues with my S6. Has anyone else experienced these? Solutions? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone is out of the return window now and dealing with customer service is probably my last resort.
My phone is on stock Touchwiz and unrooted, T-mobile variant. I have factory reset my phone 3 times and deleted the cache but these issues remain.
Here are some of the issues I have had. I am hoping they are software, but I couldn't find much information on any of them. If you also have experienced these, please let me know just to know that I'm not crazy and alone in this.
Camera app will be black on launch and crash due to an error. - This reminds me of the Lollipop software issue that I had on my Nexus 5 so I'm not too concerned since an update is coming out, but it is still bothersome when I bought the S6 for the fast camera launch but I have to restart the phone because I get this error. At least restarting the phone fixes this.
Phone vibration is inconsistent or weak. - The vibration was strongest when I first bought it, but it has grown considerably weaker. It still can be strong sometimes, but it fluctuates. Sometimes the vibration is so weak that I can't feel anything unless I put it on max strength under Vibration settings, but it sometimes fixes itself and isn't as weak. It hasn't been as strong since I first got it from what I remember. Restarting the phone does not fix it. It just comes and goes.
Phone does not receive or send sound when answering or making phonecalls. - This is hard to explain, but sometimes when I'm making a call, the dial tone will never sound and if the call looks as if it has gone through, there will be no sound. The person will say they received a call but didn't hear anything as well. This also happens if someone gives me a call and I pick up and hear no sound. A phone restart usually doesn't fix this, but sometimes it just magically works again.
Sound turned off by itself. - This has only happened once or twice so far but it was bothersome. I didn't change or touch any of my settings for this to happen. My sound just stopped working. Youtube app, volume settings, etc. didn't create any sound. When my alarm went off, it made no noise. Restarting the phone would fix it.
Anyway, please let me know if you have had these similar problems. Is it likely they are software related? I can't find any solutions and if a factory reset is not fixing it, I don't know what to do.
Thank you!

I would, but I'm outside the 14 day return window from T-mobile.

So? You have a faulty phone and these issues would be taken care of within your warranty period right?

yes you can do a warranty exchange. theyll replace it

I was hoping that I wouldn't have to go through the Warranty process but it looks like there is no choice.
Thank you all for your input! I'll see what happens. I appreciate it.

[Q] Voice calls - Other party can't hear, reboot required

I've searched and it doesn't seem that many others are having this problem. My wife also has a Droid Charge and has never had this happen.
Basically, mid-call (usually 5-10 minutes, 1-2x a day), the other party will stop hearing me. I can hear them, but they can't hear me. If I hang up and call back, the problem is still there. Cycling airplane mode doesn't help... I actually have to reboot the phone. It's gotten to the point where I tell people if it happens, I'll call them back (since it takes a while to reboot).
This is with the stock ROM, as well as Humble 1.5.
Usually it's just silence on their end, but once in a while, the problem manifests as a screechy, random fax-type noise. Same thing... I can hang up and call voicemail and have it sound like that. I always have to reboot the phone.
Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, were they able to fix it w/o getting a replacement phone?
Thanks.
I have the exact same situation. Wife and I both have DCs. I got mine first. About the second day I had it, the screetching noise happened. It was so loud it almost blew my ear out. Hanging up and redialing did not help. I had to reboot the phone. I exchanged for a new phone for that and other reasons. The new replacement on does the same thing once in a while and the wife says there is sometimes a clicking noise then she can't hear me at all but I can hear her fine. She has had the screetching noice once.

Weird. I've only had the screeching noise one time. Usually, it's like my end is on mute.
I thought it might be the switch to 4g recently, but remembered it happened before then, too. Plus, it doesn't happen on my wife's phone at all.
I guess I'll have to get a replacement. Is there any way to ensure I get a new phone and not a refurb if I do a warranty replacement?

You are going to get a refurb unless you are within 14 days. You can argue and they might give you a new one if you threaten to port out but other then that you will not get a new phone.

Damn. I'm a bit over 30 days. That really sucks, as I seriously doubt they'll be able to reproduce the problem with my phone, but will take it back and "refurb" it to the next unsuspecting owner.

Poor microphone when in phone calls

Hello everyone
So I've recently purchased a Nexus 5 and I really love how smooth the phone acts. I really love the new Hangouts integration and all.
But now people are complaining when I'm a phone call with them. Sometimes my microphone randomly lowers itself to the point people can't hear me. I then adjust my phone positioning in my hand and then they can hear me clear again.
It's not like I'm holding my phone upside down or something, just like a regular person. This problem tends to happen a lot when I'm laying down.
It's a 310K model so it's from one of the first batches.
Anyone having the same problem? I've Googled the problem a bit and people tend to think it's a software problem (something with the noise cancelation thingy). I don't want to return the phone unless I really have no other option.
Would you guys recommend me keeping the phone and wait for a possible fix? I've got this phone a week now and Amazon says I have till half of January to return it for a full refund.
Thanks in advance

I've the same problem+ signal loose randomly.
Phoned up google and tried to resolve the issues.
Now just received my RMA label via email and will receive my replacement phone soon
Hi,
I've the same problem with my 310K Nexus 5 (EU). I'm searching since some days but can't find any satisfying fix.
Today I got an answer from the Google support, they suggest to factory reset my Nexus 5.
I haven't done it yet, but I don't think this could fix the problem. I think I'll try it tomorrow and I'll report back asap.
Please let me know if you find any solution.

Volume fluctuates during call

Hi guys, I got my Nexus on day 1 and it's always had this issue. When on a phone call the volume of the caller fluctuates greatly from loud and clear to barely audible and back again randomly. Is this a known issue? Please note that the caller can always hear me perfectly fine. I've done factory resets many times but it still happens. Any ideas? I did call Google on day one but the advice they offered was to do a factory reset which never helped. Would it be worth getting a replacement sim before going back to Google and insisting they sort it?

Sometimes I don't have the phone held right and the volume seems low until I adjust it on my ear. I'm assuming this is not your issue. Does this happen when on speaker phone as well? Can you borrow a friends SIM and pop it in your phone and try to reproduce the problem and let us know the result?
Just to update this - Called Google and a friendly chap agreed to send me out an advanced replacement. Should be here tomorrow or Wednesday. Very cool. Once it arrives I'll send my faulty unit back. Shiny new phone. =]

[Q] Intermittent call volume drop

I've been digging as much as I can on this issue, and so far I haven't been able to find any official acknowledgement or diagnosis of this issue. Please forgive me if this has been discussed before, but I simply cannot find the thread.
So far, I have had 2 Nexus 5's. Both of them had the exact same issue. When I am on a call, occasionally the volume from the other side will drop to a level where I cannot hear it. This happens most often when I am listening through the earpiece, thought it has happened while using speakerphone and multiple bluetooth headsets (plus my car). There doesn't seem to be a specific thing that triggers the issue, the area or type of phone I am calling doesn't seem to matter.
The phone is stock, I've never messed with the OS and the only apps I've downloaded were basic free ones, too many to list but if an app could be causing it I can post a list.
So far, I've tried the following to resolve the issue.
1. Factory reset both phones
2. Change sim card
3. Contacted my wireless provider (AT&T)
4. Contacted LG
5. Contacted google
Changing phones didn't help, Factory reset seemed to fix the problem for a bit but it came back. Changing sim did nothing. AT&T told me that because the device was third party, it wouldn't work properly. (I don't believe that for a second) LG just wanted me to ship the phone to them. (Not an option as they will take 2 weeks to get it back to me) And google just gave me some basic troubleshooting tips that I had already tried.
I cannot RMA the phone, i bought it used off of Swappa. I do not want to pay LG for a repair as this is a software issue and it should be solvable on my own. (though I will send the phone to them if it comes to that)
Has anyone had this issue, or at least heard about it? The only possible explanation I've found is that there's a problem with the noise cancellation software, but no one seems to have any solutions other than send it to LG, which really isn't an option for me at this point.
Thanks a crap load in advance to anyone who can shed any light onto this.
Bump for help please.
We are in the same boat

I'm being searching a lot to find a solution to this problem, but no luck.
I am using a Nexus 5 from the past 15 days and have the same problem of low to no volume from the speaker (voice of the other party). I initially though that it happens when I am outdoors, but no, it happens indoors too; and this does not happen always, sometimes it is loud and clear sometimes it is not. So I suspect that this has got something to do with the software rather than the software.
Even I don't have an option to send it back to LG cause I bought this in a different country.
My phone is Stock OS, updated to 4.4.4, rooted has Xposed Framework on it.
I also modified the build.prop and set the persist.audio.fluence.voicecall from true to false, but even this did not help.
Please, please, please, if anyone has found a solution to his please let us know.
If you press the back of the phone slightly, does it lower the sound? when i do not apply pressure to any back part of the phone, the sound is clear. with even slight pressure the sound dims on the other side. just noticed this today after trying to troubleshoot the problem. really bad design

So far I haven't been able to try that. For some reason the phone has started behaving, though there are a few issues here and there. I'll try this out next time it happens and report back.

Are you having problems with phone not ringing?

I am having my phone NOT RING, often. I get notifications of missed call.
I'm not sure if it is my carrier and weak signal, or if it is a problem with the phone.
How's it going for you?
Sorry to revive such an old thread, but only just recently I've been told that my phone just goes to voicemail when someone calls me. It seems like just a random occurence and after multiple attempts, the call finally goes through. Any thoughts? On a side note, my ex has a honor 5x and has similar issues too

JFYI...I am still having the problem. I'm about to consider getting rid of the Mate 9. I'd hate to, as I love the phone.
I find it interesting that there are not others experiencing the problem.
I am tempted to wipe everything and start fresh...but I have so much set up, I hate to go through all that, and then have it just be a phone problem anyway.
Quite frustrating.

I haven't owned the Mate 9 long. but I don't have any call issues at all. Maybe check with your carrier first. Replacement SIM should always be step 1...Then if it continues. Wipe....My wife and I both had Note 4's (Hers is still kickin)...We would have that happen all the time. Its normally a carrier/signal issue.
If you receive a call with the screen on, does it show the incoming call? Make sure do not disturb is not on some weird timer or something.

I must admit that AT&T in my area pretty much sucks.
My wife still has her Note 4, and never has that problem. So, that leaves me thinking it is not carrier related.
My wife thinks it's because of all the apps I have on it.
I think I will try a new SIM, then a reload.
Oh another interesting note: most of the time I get missed call notifications, and it shows the number in the missed call log.
I'm in france , my phone is not ringing sometimes... Will reset the phone and see if problem's still here.
Our phones had the same problem ( me: Note 3, wife Samsung S4 then S5). We even upgraded one of the phones, hoping the extra LTEbands will solve the problem. It turned out to be the carrier. I now bought the Mate 9 outright, with dual SIM and on a different carrier. No calls lost yet, fingers crossed.
I finally have come to the realization that lui Do Not Disturb is malfunctioning.
I have it in a timer of:
- Turn on at 10:00pm
- Turn off at 7:00am next morning
But it is not turning off.
I'm going to post a thread about this.
