getting a warranty replacement after tripping knox? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So ive rooted and tripped knox. Im with sprint and I'm wondering if they would give a crap if i took it in to a sprint store to try and get it replaced if an issue were to arise with my s6 in the near future? Also lets say i did get it replaced at a sprint store without them checking for a tripped counter. Would they try to charge me after they've already given me the replacement phone if they sent it back to samsung and found it was tripped?

I went to a store to replace my unit because the screen was unevenly lightened and they replaced it without checking if Knox is tripped or not (it was not though)

Wondering the same thing if I return my phone to handtec.co.uk in the UK because of my noisy home button.. Although I might just live with it.. As long as it's not getting any worse

Once a retailer accepts the phone for a replacement, they cannot deny it and give it back to you. If you send it back into Samsung directly, they will almost certainly check Knox first and may deny your replacement. Retailers are not as aware as Samsung is.

Samsung GS3 screw seals

I have had my GS3 for less than a year and recently I started having faulty power button issues. I took it to an outside local repair shop for what I thought would be a quick easy fix but they were unable to repair after tampering with my phone and taking it apart.
My device is 100% stock and has never been rooted. The device still appears brand new and has no physical/liquid damage.
I would like to know how likely samsung would still honor their warranty after this outside repair shop took apart my phone and attempted to fix the issue.
According to Samsung warranty is voided if the device has been taken apart but how will they know for sure? do all or some GS3's come with some type of screw seals? how do I know if my device had/has these seals?
My device was purchased October 2012 via AT&T in the usa.

[Q] Sprint Device warranty and repair procedures for Galaxy S5

Hey Guys,
I hope this is the right forum for this.. pardon me if it is not.
Coming from Galaxy S4, I know that phone back and forth but I feel naked when I play with S5 and how does the Sprint Stores deal with this phone..
Hardware:
1) considering this phone is sort of waterproof:
a) does sprint consider it waterproof or if they suspect water damage they will send you to asurion to pay 200$ deductible?
\\SPRINT AND SAMSUNG DO NOT CONSIDER THIS WATERPROOF SO IF YOU GET WATER DAMAGE YOU PAY FOR IT FULLY
b) beside the water sensor on the battery are there any other sensors that they check in store? it seams like the only way to get inside this phone is by removing the screen on top which is very tight and a professional work.. so I can not imagine sprint stores open it that way to check inside.. am I wrong?
Software:
2) How does print stores deal with knox and root:
//UNROOT THE PHONE AND TAKE IT TO SPRINT STORE, THEY USUALLY DO NO CARE ABOUT KNOX
a) on my old phones I would just unroot and remove the custom recovery/kenel and walk in the store, as long as they can reflash the phone they used to be happy to exchange it under warranty how is it with S5?
b) How does KNOX affect this process? I was planning to root with Towelroot to avoid the knox and then install a denoxed custom ROM for now so in case I need the phone repaired I can take it in to sprint store..
I will update this first post as the information is collected.
Thank you!

[Q] Is TEP coverage impacted by a tripped knox counter?

Pretty straight forward question - my wife and I are looking to upgrade to S5's this evening. My usual MO is to bring the device home and root it right away. Before Knox, this wasn't an issue.
We always got TEP before, and I'd like to do the same. However if they won't honor it because knox gets tripped, it's kind of pointless to pay for. So what is everyone's opinion? Does tripping knox make TEP a waste?
Has anyone ever tried to replace a phone via TEP that had Knox counters tripped?
If my phone is ever busted, do I just have to make sure it's really REALLY busted before taking it in?
I don't think so. I had an S 2 that one store said was water damaged and refused to replace or repair under warranty. Told me to make a claim. I wound up not having to do so, but asurion sends you a refurb before you send in your old phone. They make refurbs out of the trade ins, so they just want the hardware.
No. Just last weekend I took in my s5 it had bad pixels. Knox was tripped. They replaced the device.
Not only did BestBuy LOOK at my phone.....
Members of the Geek Squad were familiar with Rompnit's MOAR Rom. Then, they played with my phone for several minutes to look at the goodies he put. One guy didn't understand why SAMMY wouldn't just put all the goodies in the phone to begin with.
If you FRY your phone, good luck explaining that.
If you just have an issue, they know dang well we are rooting our phones.
I have Assurion AND the Best Buy Protection. If something happens, SOMEbody is replacing my phone.

Before using your warranty after root look here

So I'm just posting this cause I got denied my warranty after looking for what the AT&T guy told me to look for. It's through the sdcard/Sim slot you can see just a peek if you look with a flashlight. Only way to really see it is removing the backing of your phone which voids warranty(idiots).
It's a knox tripper, tiny white square with X's on it. They bleed out when you actually trip knox. Check out the picture to see what I'm talking about.
Do not open your phone it will void warranty, I was told it didn't have warranty and phone was only 1 month old. Oh well. Look in your Sim slot before you rip things apart.

I think the pink crosses is water damage that's why your phone was out of warranty.. knox is a software security and hardware is also involved but not visible like this. Checking knox by opening your phone doesn't make any sense to me. Must probably they fooled you. If it was me! i will not accept the phone from them unless they fix it for me or exchange it for a new one..as you said they already broke the water resistance why did you accept to take the phone from them?

Not sure if you are understanding what I am saying. The pink X's are still there meaning there is no damage to the phone. I bought the phone a month ago, had a flash error, the tech guy from ATT told me that if I couldn't see the pink x then I tripped Knox. So I contacted Samsung and the person helping me gave me a hard time and said I am not covered by warranty, This is before I ripped my phone apart. Contacted ATT again and they said I have no warranty or insurance in which I did. So the to sum up the story,
I was told from ATT that the pink X's on the white box melt away once knox is tripped. As you can see clearly the X's are still there. Not sure on what you are saying about me buying a damaged phone??? Just giving a heads up to those with ATT.
TLDR: AT&T is a s***y company with even worse customer service.
I think anyone that's ever been under contract with them, for anything, is well aware of their shady practices.
I'm sorry to disappoint you but AT&T guys don't know nothing about it. Pink axis on the Strip of a sticker means that there was a moisture exposure. If sticker is clean then there was no moisture exposure. Knox fuse is a electronic component that burns and becomes open when restricted area is accessed and written like a Bootloader for example and must be physically replaced in order to set the Knox counter to zero. Obviously boys from AT&T knows nothing. But that's my five cents. You should definitely not accept that phone back. Good luck.

haha true i take it as they know nothing. They just wanted me to rip apart my phone to void my own warranty. well i just received my t-mobile replacement and i am going through some issues now with the battery not wanting to charge. I swear this phone is a headache after another but i guess its worth it.

Also you are in the us? With a G95XU?
If so, sorry to tell you but Knox 0x1 is impossible on these phones. Locked bootloader prevents the one thing the Knox efuse system identifies

Yes I. In the U.S and have a G955U, well, a U1 now, same thing. I know there couldn't be a way to trip Knox that's what I told them and still they didn't want to help me.
Lol... That's the water damage indicator... Not Knox sticker... That guy must be smoking something good, or a very bad lier... [emoji23]

Few s8 problem, warranty and root.

Hi,
I have to send my S8+ to the Samsung assistance by Amazon this month because I have the common focus problem (camera can't focus, tapping on it works again) and also sometimes my USB port "think" its wet but it isn't (and don't let me charge it also lol).
Also I need to repair my screen because it's broken.
The screen will be repaired from a third-party assistance so no problem I will pay for it.
The main question for me it's if the wet and the camera problems will get repaired for free for the warranty if o am rooted or if they will ask me some money. In that case I won't root it even if I need atm.
Let me know your opinion thanks!
If your Knox=1 so you're out of warranty
Some regions doesn't pay attention to knox if it's faulty hardware they will repair it for you without a problem and some regions are way too strict
