[Completed] [Q]Samsung galaxy S i9000, cyanogenmod, boot loop - XDA Assist

Hi,
I have a samsung galaxy s i9000 with cyanogenmod 9 since a long time ^^ working perfectly till this morning : gapps crash (I changed nothing, maybe just an app error, bug). I decided to restart the phone (not in recovery, a simple restart) and then ... infinite loop, he doesn't boot, i can't access to the recovery mode. I can just do the downloading mode ...
After some researches, I need to do a wipe thanks to recovery mode ...
So I tried to install a CWM with odin, my phone is detected but it doesn't work.
Then I tried with heimdall (google : galaxy s cyanogenmod, 2nd link)
But I have the error "Failed To Initialise Protocol", I think it's because debug usb mode wasn't checked before the crash ..
I don't know what to do ... I just want my phone, I need it. Please help.
P.S : windows 8.1 64 bits, drivers install with samsung kies

Hi,
Thanks to Linux and heimdall, I managed to install another Kernel. Now I can boot on recovery and download, so my phone isn't brick
But now I have another problem, I guess not specific to my phone.
I followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2434225 (choose KitKat)
Then i download Semaphore 3.4.3 (tried with 3.4.2 too).
Then :
- heimdall flash --KERNEL zImage
- boot in recovery, wipe data, cache, dalvik
- install .zip (with cyanogenmod found here : https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=galaxysmtd, i took cm 10.2.1 and cm 11)
On both error status 0. I did heimdall flash --KERNEL zImage multiple times, with different versions, always same result (I tried --RECOVERY too, don't know what does that do lol).
I made some research and they talk about update-binaries .. i don't know what does that mean.
I think I choose the correct version of Kernel, ROM. Need help for this status 0. Ty
P.S : i choose semaphore 'cause there is a .tar for linux (containing 1 file), i don't know what do to with all these .zip (+odin didn't work for me, stupid error with kies, let say i have only linux ^^)

Glad you got it fixed, thank you for using XDA Assist .

[Q] [Ques] Unable to flash any rom via CWM after installing XXLSJ with Phillz Kernel

I have a S2 (GT-i9100).
I frequently switch between ROMs, the last rom i flashed was "[ROM][20 Nov][LSJ][4.1.2][V13.0] WanamLite Clean & Fast & Pure Stock Themed ".
The rom was good, fast and stable, but since it was draining the battery too fast, i decided to re-flash my daily driver (super-Nexus).
Unfortunately, when i tried to flash using CWM (phillz kernel), i got the "Status 7" error.
So, this is what i did: (offcourse i wiped cache/data/davlik cache)
1. Re-downlaoded "super-nexus" - That didnt help (the md5 was correct).
2. Downloaded another 4.1.2 "[ROM][23/11/12][JB/CM10&AOKP] Nostromo 1.5 [Tuning utils/TB] " - to my wonder i got the same error again
3. Then i did quite a bit of searching, found that, issue might be because of signature verification in CWM, when i toggled it i got "signature verification - enabled" - so i fig, it was disabled by deafult, i am yet to test by manually making it "disabled".
Could some1 please point me as to why after flashing with Phillz kernel for XXLSJ, m i getting this error, and why m i the only one getting it. I searched quite a lot, couldnt find anything
I am not a complete noob but m stuck here
Ny1 has any idea about this...
At this point any wild guesses wud do...I dont want to reflash via odin, that the last resort...

Finally found a useful post in Phillz CWM thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877270&highlight=status+7&page=46
Since i have less than 10 posts i am not able to post this question directly on that thread, but could some1 please let me know where/how i can remove the assert commands (the ones that are being talked about in the link above).
I am trying to flash a new rom (super-nexus)
I had the same problem. Flashing DorimanX:s kernel first will solve the problem. Remember, this kernel is not compatible with the XXLSJ rom so only reboot the recovery (Advanced - Reboot Recovery). If the reboot freezes, just shut down the phone by long-pressing the power button and boot into recovery by holding Volume Up + Power.

Phone won't boot into ClockworkMod Recovery

Hi,
I currently have ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.2.3 installed and am using ROM Manager Premium 5.5.1.5 to attempt to install CyanogenMod.
I have the correct rom downloaded for the Verizon version, but every time I try to boot into the ClockworkMod recovery, the standard Android Recovery screen comes up instead.
I have followed about 3 different tutorials, and each ended in the same result.
Any idea what could be going on?
Thanks!
Sounds like user error. If you're rooted, you can use EZ Recovery from the play store to flash your recovery of choice.

How did it fail?
Sent from my LG spectrum (that's right) blazing fast on cm10!
I am having almost the same problem. I rooted my phone using this:
<< 03.06.2013 - PhilZ-cwm6 v5.06.1 with CWM 6.0.3.2 based recovery >>
DDLSC - DXLSE - JPLSB - XXLT6 - ZSLO2 Fixed for bootloop
ZCLSF (no bootloop fix, proper default.prop)

as it matches my phone make, build, kernel's date, model, etc. The trouble is when I go to recovery mode from ROM Manager it just stops on its way showing me this green little robot and a progress bar in the middle and it could stay like this for hours without moving anywhere. I have to press my power button and then it moves on and reboots into CWM. I have tried a whole lot of different rootings methods but ROM Manager v5.5.3.7 simply refuses to work with PHILZ-CWM6-DDLSC-ODD-5.06.1-SIGND.ZIP... I am completely lost...
Could anybody suggest / advise anything please? I would highly appreciate it Many thanks in advance!
I am on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, Samsung Galaxy Note GT N7000, build number is JZ054K.N7000DDLSC, baseband version is N7000DDLS6, kernel version is 3.0.31 – 906407 March 6, 2013.

[Q] How do I flash a Rom on my phone?

Hi!
I've rooted my Samsung Galaxy S 4G, and now want to flash it with CM10
This is the guide I've been following but I've never succeeded:
w w w . android. gs /update-galaxy-s-4g-cm10-android-4-1-jelly-bean/
Every time I go into CWM and chose the zip file, it says that it can't mount my SD card.
I've wiped the cache and deleted all user data (factory reset), though it still won;t flash.
I've used programs like Android Commander, and it still won't flash.
Will someone please explain to me why I can't flash the rom?
Welcome to the forum,
You need recent CWM (the blue one) to be able to flash mtd roms.
You have two choices:
1) Flash using heimdall one-click (found in the stickies section) then CM10 using CWM. <=- (you do need to follow the instructions carefully)
2) Download Samsung Galaxy Kernel Flasher from play store, and download AntonX kernel (Search the forums), then flash CM10.
Edit:
I checked the link you provided, I would say please DO NOT flash any ROM from unknown sources. In quick glance they provide false
information. Specifically you cannot return to STOCK with CWM once you are using MTD rom (you need heimdall or Odin).
Please read before you flash anything.
PS: despite flashing using CWM is somewhat safe for this device (SGS4G), but don't take this safety for granted for other devices,
ALWAYS be careful, and learn from other people mistakes (I recently hard bricked S2 Hercules by flashing wrong kernel using CWM).

How would I get the new (blue one) CWM?
And what could I do about my sd card mounting in CWM?
Thanks again though for the advice, it had too many bugs!

[Completed] Can't Install Any ROM..!! HELP

Hey, i am new to android. Just got an old Samsung galaxy sl gt-i9003. it has never been rooted. i tried rooting it using odin and the cf root file by LoLaTiOn for DDMF1 firmware. Did everything correctly and when it came to install zip from sd card, it gave an error after i selected the zip file. the error says- can't open E:/(name_of_the_ROM).zip (bad). I thought the problem might be with the zip file. so i tried a lot of ROMs like CM11 and Nameless but still the same error. please help me. i can't figure out what the problem is. how can i install the ROM properly without any error?.
CF-ROOT file i used by LoLaTiOn: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43016372&postcount=30

You are on the Right track. If you could post your query inGalaxy SL i9003 General the right experts may be of help.
EDIT - Per the suggestion of my college @KJ , I want to remind you that you flash a custom Rom zip file with a custom Recovery such as CWM or TWRP. You use ODIN only for Samsung Stock firmware. If you tried to flash custom Roms with ODIN, you may brick your device.
thnx...!!

[Q] Howto heimdall flash cwm recovery ??

Hi guys, my Galaxy tab 7.7 is still completely stock: Honeycomb and Touchwiz...... :crying: High time to move on!
Ultimately, I'd like to be able to try a few ROMs, using a ROM manager. When I want to install CWM from Google Play, it indicates that I need to manually install a recovery. I found found daniel_hk's tar files for the P6800 (CWM recovery)
I'm using a Linux PC, and I want to use Heimdall to flash. There is nothing on the Tab that needs to be preserved. (for the record: I've spent quite some time reading lots of threads on this, Googling stuff; and I I have experience with Linux arch & gentoo, so I am very used to doing my homework, but now I really need some help THANKS
My questions
1. Are these the correct steps I need to take? If not please correct me.
- flash CWM recovery
- reboot the Tab
- install CWM (as an app, from Google Play)
- then get Root? Using what app / method?
- flash the wanted ROM, using Heimdall, installing it using the ROM manager
2. it is enough to flash the recovery image, don't I need a cache.img as well? It's not in Daniel's .tar....
3. how will I flash? I don't really understand the heimdall GUI.... So , if i simply use the terminal, would I use
heimdall flash --no-reboot --RECOVERY recovery.img or is it better to leave the --no-reboot out ?
4. Will the recovery image (there is one for cwm 6.0.3.0 and cwm 6.0.4.3) only work with the corresponding cwm? Or will any image do?
Thank you all very much! [off topic ]Although the Linux kernel is in Android, for some reason it is hard to really understand it, maybe because words like 'firmware' or 'ROM' and 'kernel' seem to have a different meaning in Android/Phones compared to Linux/x86 PCs. That, plus you can 'brick' your PC - unless your flashing a BIOS or something : [/off topic ] Again, thanks in advance !
Never mind, i could not wait. I flashed with --no-boot, but then had to reboot manually. I will post a manual when I'm ready. So far: CWM installed, Root obtained, KitKat installed.
