[Q] alarm - can't set up repeat - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I got my S6 for few days now but just yesterday I've noticed that I can't set up repeat alarm on specific days of week as every time after selecting them and getting back to main alarm screen option isn't saved. Is there anybody else who has this kind of problem? Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I was able to do what you were intendkng.
In the alarm app, first select the time. Then click repeat weekly. Select the day that you wish for this repeat and then hit Save.
Done.
Sent from my SM-G920I using XDA Free mobile app

I think that I've tried everything already and it doesn't work to me :/ looks like it's not saving my selection and it doesn't matter is it only one day or whole week. Any other suggestions?

Try going to application manager and All applications > clock > clear data and clear cache

I came upon this thread trying to figure out how to fix it.
under system, developers options there is a selection I chose previously under applications (scroll to bottom of screen) called do not keep activities. I unselected it and now my alarms are able to repeat

Any idea of other repercussions of that change?

no idea
Nope. But I selected it previously not knowing what it did. Thought it would clear windows once I left them.
I would think it was some kind of failsafe for developers. So changes can't accidentally be made.
I had another issue with my back light staying on when charging and locKed.
That was in developers options too. Stay awake.
I think if you're creating something you need the phone to be running. Or that's what I was told.
I am new to samsung phones.

That was it! I've checked it as well to kill all apps in background to safe battery but it looks like it that it affects alarm as well (ticking this option didn't turn off repeating alarm on my Galaxy S4 so never suspected that it will stop my alarm here)

I got my GS6 yesterday and I couldn't repeat the clocks, and as for that I'm still in school, I need my clocks repeated because it will be annoying to just keep setting an alarm for each day. I followed this and now I can repeat my set alarms now. Thank you.

I've never had a galaxy device, I upgraded from an LG Optimus, which was downgrade a bit [update 4.5.6], and before that I had a MyTouch 4G [update 2.3.4], so I'm still trying to get used to this phone, but it's really cool. It's a good phone. I love it.

[Q] Repeated "Alarm Interlocking" notifications

Hello,
I have a problem that I cannot seem to solve. Every minute or so, my phone will automatically open an app called "Personal Collect Board" and present me with the following notification :
"If Alarm interlocking is ON, this application starts when the alarm ends. You can change Alarm interlocking from the set button or Menu key."
In the settings page, the interlocking is clearly set to off. I am not sure what has happened and cannot find a way to disable it. I cannot delete the app because it is a stock app. I have no plans to root this phone because it is a Japanese phone and I am not confident in my language skills to go through those menus. Force stopping the app yields no change in the frequency of notifications. It also cannot be disabled.
Phone model - AQUOS SHARP SHL23
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

did you try clearing cache and data for the app? (if possible)
other than that, i can only suggest the dreaded factory reset.

Thanks! There are options to clear the cache and also to clear the data. Clearing either does nothing to the frequency of the notifications. However, I have found that whilst charging the notifications are much, much more frequent. Does that shed any light on whats going on?

This may be some sort of error on my part, so please bear with me. My only complaint is when using your app the Now Notifier screen seems to stick around. I do have my watch set to wake up to last screen used as that is the only way the Endomondo app is useful when running. Is there a way to turn this off.

If you have autohide on, and don't touch the notification, it should hide automatically. If you touch it, you should swipe up to down past the green screen to dismiss the application.

Got it...thanks. Would it be possible in a future update to allow for the autohide timeout to be changed by the user to something shorter?
Edit: Just received an email through Nine (me email app on my phone). I got the notification through NN, replied to it with NN and the NN screen stayed on the screen until I made it go away. This is what I meant earlier. Is this something that's limited by the APIs, or is it something that can be configured to go away on its own?

What would you consider shorter? If I do it I would prefer to consolidate everything together so more like a selection between none / 5 seconds / 10 seconds / 30 seconds / 1 minute so that way there is no 2 options for the same thing, what you think?

Is the autohide for the NN screen or the notification itself. If for the notification, the choices of 5/10/20 would probably be ideal, at least to me. If it is for the NN screen, then just a standard 5 seconds would be fine. I wouldn't think you would want it to not show up as all; I mean you want your name out there and all, I get that.
By the way, did you see my edit above?

The NowNotifier screen is more for you not to leave by error the app when you don't want it because when you get to it, you are a swipe away from leaving the application.
I think I got it, the auto hide is when you receive a notification. As soon as you touch the application, the autohide stops so you can browse/read your notification. If i understand you well, you want to dismiss the application once you execute an action (like reply) is that correct?

Correct.
Well then yeah, that would have to be a new option something like "Hide application after action" and that basically wouldn't have a delay, once you click the button it hides.

I just thought of another "issue", please don't take this as nit-picking. I really do like your app.
I use the stock sleep app at night. This silences notification and keeps the screen from coming on in the middle of the night. Your app still goes off throughout the night and I never remember to turn off your app until after the first time I'm woken up by the buzzing on my wrist. Is it possible to make your app "respect" the sleep mode?
I am not a developer and only have a very generic understanding of api's and such, so this may not be feasible.
Did you email me about that before?
Yes I'm looking into it, by default I just post the messages that the phone broadcast, so I need to find out a way for me to know when the phone is in that mode to block the messages. No luck so far, but still looking into it.
I'll update the main post with a wishlist and work through it later.
No, I never emailed you... But that must mean I'm not the only one who thought of it. Thanks for starting this thread.
Yeah I got some a question about it some time ago, didn't know about that functionality so I'm looking into it. Yeah between emails and see if comments were updated, I saw a question about the application in this forum, so decided what a better place to keep all the feedback in one place.
Also at this moment I'm doing some live development, testing my encoding PC for other project so feel free to drop and keep the feedback going :good:

Here is a quick demo for the hide after action
Ok I have a list of enhancements I would love to see:
Phone app:
1- When first installed, all applications are enabled (checked) by default, it takes a while to uncheck the applications you don’t want to receive notifications from. Maybe a "check/uncheck all" button.
2- Option to receive notifications on Gear and vibrate while keeping screen off.
3- Option to not show notifications on Gear when phone is used “i.e. screen on and unlocked”.
4- Option to dismiss notification on Gear when it is dismissed from phone, and vise-versa.
5- Option for to exclude notifications from “ignored phrases”.
6- Option for “Night/Do not disturb” times.
7- Provide option for different vibration “duration” for each app
Gear app:
1- Theming option (dark background & light background)
2- “Text size option”.
3- You should queue all the notifications received.
4- Swipe right/left for next/previous notification. Swipe down to dismiss. And tap for notification text/details. Swipe up for (suggestions?)
5- After dismissing the last notification, app should go back immediately (1 sec delay?) to watchface.
And most important of all, stability, stability and stability. The problem I have seen with all the notification apps is stability and usability issues. Often they either hang, crash or stop receiving notifications for some reason or another. And that is very frustrating.
Honestly, if you want you app to be the best notification app (whether free or paid), you should look at the two other similar notification app and combine the best features with your app which I believe provides the best visual experience but lacks in features.

Thanks for the list Renegade!
You should have seen this app the first revision 2 months ago, it was as plain as it gets
Some stuff is doable, other might not, right now is limited by my limited knowledge of Android an Tizen, like you say I like to work more on stability so for me is means to add 1 or 2 new features per release.

Step goal and sleep tracking?

Hi,
can anybody tell me how I can set another step goal (its set with 6000) - I cant find it on the app at the phone and also not on the gear... But it must be possible to change it, or??
And another question: Can the gear s2 track the sleep? If yes, how to set it or do i need another app for it?
Thanks a lot
Frank
In the S health watch app go to the far right and open the settings menu and you can set your step goal in there.
Thanks for your answer, but it works not! I had only the choice to select the source of the stepcounter (gear or phone).
If I set it to phone I can change the goal - but when I switch back to gear it back again to 6000... And I have again no chance to change it...
Crazy...
As said above, you simply go S Health settings on the watch to change it.
I got it
Thanks for your help...
Or go into s health on s2 and scroll using bezel all the way to the right to Settings and select 2nd option - Step Target, and change target there.
That's exactly what had been advised in the first reply, isn't it?
What about the sleep tracking? For now it would seem they have forgotten it.
How about how to change from phone to gear for soirce? I know its there but can't seem to find it.
Is there anyway to switch function on the S2, i find as per my Gear 2 it is inaccurate (prefer using my mobile) and it consumes battery.
(Reopen Question) How to Change Pedometer Target / Steps Goal on Gear S2
While this was answered over a year ago, either it's changed since then, or I'm misunderstanding.
I can find several S Health widgets, but I can't see the S Health APP anywhere on the S2.
There's even a Pedometer widget, but turn the bezel as i might, I don't find the three-dot menu icon, "More", or "Settings" anywhere.
The Data Source is set to the watch, not the phone. But clicking on S Health even in the Apps List just brings up the 24 Hour Activity Log.
It's a bluetooth-only version of the watch, so there's no carrier involved. I'm using it with a Note 4 on Verizon.
The software version on the S2 ends in EPK5.
Thanks for any help!

Launch the S-health app on the S2 - not any of the widgets. Rotate the bezel to the right until you see the Settings "tab". Click on the button at the bottom. Scroll down to Step Target.
Rob
Must "Start" to get to Settings
As I said in my earlier post, starting the S Health app on the S2 simply brought up the 24 Hour Log (circle showing goals for sleep, serious exercise, light exercise, etc.) Rotating the bezel did nothing.
However, if you press the "Start" button on that circle, THEN rotating the bezel will bring up various screens (or "tabs"), including Settings!
Thanks for the help.

I just had to reset my S2 because I got a new phone and I'm having the same issue and reading every forum and Forum post out there and I cannot find how to change this on the watch. Phone is at 10k, S2 is at 6k. Wat them both at 10k. This is so aggravating. These instructions worked like 6 months ago but there is no changing the step Count on the gearas far as I can tell. I'm so annoyed right now LOL the search continues

I'm getting the same thing, mostly when playing a game. Will flash for a split second. Not sure what's causing it.
I don't think it's a virus tho.
Maybe its problem with system or launcher? I haven't found anything like that on internet or how to slove this
Mine is doing the same thing as well. I think at least for me it's because my RAM is getting close to making out.
Same problem
I have the same problem. Has anyone got any hints at least? It's very annoying and no other phone seems to have it.

I'm having the same issue. Screen goes kinda white for half a second and looks as it would start an app, but then goes back to what app you just had opened.
It is not a constant flickering or flashing, as reported from Samsung and other Devices and which is documented via Videos on the Net.
It would be hard to film it, as I haven't been able to reproduce thus behaviour.
When I play a game (King of Avalon) and when I'm just typing and that issue occurs, the typed text is gone. Luckily it doesn't happen while typing on WhatsApp or other apps with text features.
A while back it was almost gone, but then came back, without me having changed the app Setup.
I will reset the phone and see, if it comes back.
I still think it's an issue brought up from apps that use the GPU a lot.
Have tried different settings the Developer Options from Android (Disable HW-Overlay,...) but it didn't help.
Will report, once I have resetted, but will take a while, until I have time for testing.

Hey, I also had this problem, it helped me change the language in voice search to English and turn off "ok google". I use the phone in a different language and I also had it in voice search.
Hello fellow HTC u11 life friends -
I found this thread by Googling, so hopefully others will find it too. I have also been having this very annoying problem for several weeks. Can't remember when exactly it started. Was it after an Android update?
This problem appears to be related to the Google app settings on the phone, as the previous poster suggested. When I read his post, I went to the Google app settings (Setting --> Apps --> Google) and didn't see anything out of the ordinary, but I noticed that there is a setting called Display over other apps. This was set to "yes" by default, so I changed it to "no". Since I made this change yesterday, I have not had the white screen flash once.
It seems like the Google app is being triggered briefly for whatever reason and then closing. By not allowing the app to display over others, if the app is triggered, you won't get that brief white screen like the app is about to open. At least, that's what I think. Fingers crossed the fix holds. I hope this works for others. Let me know!

Before I call you a genius, I still have to wait a bit (and of course hoping)
I just turned off different things in the Google App "show notification for ***"
In this case *** was for Price Alert, stocks alert, sports alert and so on.
Furthermore I disabled the "display over other Apps" as well.
I could imagine that this latter feature doesn't have to be turned off completely, rather than turning off all those useless alerts for stuff I've never even looked for.
Will try to go the next days to see, if that blinking is gone and if soy trying to activate the feature with almost no alerts in order to determine, what the exact culprit is.
Disabling the feature totally might do it, but if for example some alerts were useful, then it would be nice, if at least they worked out as supposed to.
Will keep you guys posted.
Fingers crossed ^^

Tried this method and so far (1h) no flashes. Sounds reasonable, that Google is trying to send some notices to the screen and that functionality is somehow bugged. I'm fine with turning off ok, Google. Have never used it anyway. [emoji28]

Are you using the built in Camera, or some app?
I got 8.1 too but no changes. Have to admit I'm using Google Cam Port. Might be that, because otherwise I've turned off kinda all notifications, but it's still flashing.
As mentioned earlier, I should do a full wipe and use the built in cam and such, but I don't really like it.
I'll see, when I find the time to wipe and set it up again...

Are you using the built in Camera, or some app?
I got 8.1 too but no changes. Have to admit I'm using Google Cam Port. Might be that, because otherwise I've turned off kinda all notifications, but it's still flashing.

I am using the built in Camera. Two days 8.1 and not a single white flash. Before the update 8.1 I had it not only with the camera app but very random. I hope you will find a solution. I found it very annoying.

I really have no clue, which app causes those issues. Will try the built-in cam for testing.
If it still persists, I really have to reset the phone.
Thx. I'll find a way and yes, it's pretty much annoying

After 4 days a minor white flash returns during scrolling for apps in the app store. I immidiately implemented the above quoted solution and since then no white flash. :fingers-crossed: :fingers-crossed:

Just turned it off. Didn't think about the system processes before.
Will report, if anything changed. Thx for that hint so far, sounds promising

Ability to disable "Strong Protection" option gone!

I just noticed after a reboot that after unlocking my phone I saw "Phone is starting" and immediately went to look for the "Strong Protection" option to disable this but it is no longer available! I can no longer disable this feature like on my Note 10+ or my previous Note 8 (went under different name iirc on the Note 8) but why in the ****ing hell would Samdung remove this option to disable this feature?
I can no longer allow my phone to reboot overnight once a week and what if it crashes and reboots on it's own overnight? I can no longer rely on my phone for my alarms because they won't go off if the phone isn't unlocked after a reboot to finish the startup process. This FBE and lack of being able to disable it is pissing me off! Samdung always 2 steps forwards but 3 steps back with their infinite stupidity sometimes!
I checked "Biometrics and security->Other security settings" and there is NO "Strong Protection" option present anymore. I used the search field in the options to look for it and nothing shows up when searching for strong protection, fbe, file-based encryption, etc. and I went through every option meticulously twice to see if it had some idiotic name now in an illogical location but it does not exist anymore. Am I blind or did Samsung actually remove this option completely, and if so, why would they do this?!?!
My alarms go off after a weekly overnight scheduled restart, even if the phone is still locked and requires a pin/pattern.
I am using Samsung's alarm app but it also works with "Wakey" alarm app.

I remember early with my Note 10+ the alarms wouldn't go off after the nightly automatic reboot until I disabled strong protection since nothing would startup on the phone until you enter your password and watch the phone say "Phone is starting". Maybe that was changed then that alarms will still go off? I'll test it out and set the auto reboot soon with an alarm shortly after and see what happens but it never allowed the alarms before unless strong protection was disabled.
so I just tested and so far it actually worked so basically it's not that strong protection exists and can't be disabled, it's just that starting up after reboots are SLOW AF!

It's still secure though as you can't actually do anything else until you unlock. It makes sense to allow the alarms to get through.
Well at least you can be assured it will wake you up now!

Ya glad I can rely on my alarms and alerts from calendar notifications. Missed a couple on my Note 10 last year until I disabled that so seeing the "Phone is starting" and then not finding the option to disable strong protection had me worried since Samsung has done stupid things in the past I thought they were continuing that trend but glad to see I was wrong lol.

Yep, love XDA. Been here a while too when a friend told me about it and best place to find info and help. Especially since I started installing roms on my Galaxy S3 I used it a lot more as this place was invaluable for all the info to get started with romming my android phones.
