[Q] Google Fit and Fitbit Sync - General Questions and Answers

I know Fitbit doesn't currently sync directly with Google Fit, but does anyone know an indirect way of syncing them? I love my Fitbit Surge, but Fitbit's app and website leave a lot to be desired. Has anyone had success syncing Fitbit to another app and then to Google Fit, or perhaps a couple app/websites in between them?

Been looking into this myself for the past day (since I bought a Moto 360) and am trying to find a way to connect the two services since it is clear they do not connect directly. Will come back and post my findings when I'm done.
[edit] So far the best option I can find is using Runkeeper for Weight Tracking. Nothing for steps found yet.

I've gotten my steps to sync from Fitbit to Runtastic, but nothing else will. And I can't seem to figure out how to get anything to sync to Google Fit.

Found this on github:

A bit manual process but better than nothing

Actually for me isn't working.
I obtained the Token from Fitbit but i'm unable to obtain the data from Google Fit APIs.
I'm still searching for another method, does anyone know something else?
Thanks

Google Fit data in fitbit
Here's what I've got and how they are working together:
Withings wireless scale
Withings wireless blood pressure monitor
Moto 360 watch
Fitbit One
Withings app
Fitbit app
MyFitnessPal app
The MyFitnessPal app is a key hub because it can share data with fitbit and Withings accounts (and is awesome for food tracking). Scale readings automatically show up in MFP, asvdo fitbit steps from the fitbit devices.
Google Fit will sync automatically with the Withings app and Withings also takes all data from MyFitnessPal and the withings scale and blood pressure monitor. My Moto 360 feeds Fit steps to Withings.
So it's all interconnected and I use the Withings dashboard most often which shows Fit steps, weight, BP and MFP calorie data. I can launch MFP directly from Withings and use it's dashboards if I like.
In MFap you'll see fitbit steps and withings scale and BP data.
At this point I've stopped wearing the fitbitbexcept as a sleep monitor. I wear the 360 for all other step\fit data and use the withings dashboard primarily.
I started choosing withings devices because of the more flexible integration with partner portals like MFP, runkeeper, etc.
For what it's worth. Oh...and I couldn't integrate Samsung S-Health with anything so I ditched Samsung devices altogether

Thank you!

I think Withings may have been the missing link. I just needed to get steps from Google Fit into myfittnesspal or fitbit that would then flow into the others. It would be nice if there was a central app that would collect this all and sync it evenly across.

3rd party syncing solution
I realize I am late to the game here, but in researching this same issue I came across this thread first and then I found this potential solution fitnesssyncer.com. It appears to sync a number of data sources. I cannot yet confirm syncing data from Google Fit into Fitbit, but it does work in the opposite direction. I should be able to get my hands on a device to test from Fit to Fitbit in the next couple of days. I hope this helps someone else.... have a good one.

Try this : http://googlefeedbit.habite.la/ but you have to do it manually ...

I am back with a quick report. The fitnesssyncer option wasn't as successful as I had hope it would be. I don't know if it is a time zone issue, but some days I would start out the morning with around 3k steps and a time stamp of when I was still in bed. I started trying the googlefeedbit option mentioned in the above post and I have had much more success. I have switched to using it exclusively. I hope this helps, have a good day.

Now that Google Fit support has been added to MyFitnessPal, I'm curious how syncing them with that as the hub will work now!

Any updates on the MyFitnessPal integration? I just set it up, but I can't tell if anything is syncing. Doesn't seem like it.
The googlefeedbit page no longer seems to be working.
Also, I think I know what the time zone issue was with fitnesssyncer.com, but when I tried to sync my Google Fit steps to Fitbit, I don't see any results in the Fitbit app or website.
Any and all updates appreciated as I would love to not be wearing two devices all the time.

How do I get the moto 360 app? Can't find it

I haven't used them in some time, but from my limited experience a few months ago, I was getting double the steps in Google Fit. I disconnected Google Fit from MyFitnessPal, since Google Fit was adding together and combining all of the steps that it detected with the accelerometer with all of the Fitbit steps synced over through MyFitnessPal. It could be better now, who knows.

Hey bud. Got that fixed. Got hit with that classic cease and desist for trademark infringement so had to rebrand/buy a new domain and Google didn't like that. Should be good to go now!

It does however I have issues that it seems that sometimes it's not Google Fit doing the tracking and it's pulling the data from Huawei Health, which in turn causes issues with trying to get it to sync with Nokia Health as that only includes data that Google Fit tracked itself, not what it also imported.
And why is:
- My Google Fit app on watch is showing 826 steps
- My Huawei Fit app on watch is showing 792 steps
- My Google Fit app on phone is showing 1112 steps
- My Huawei Fit app on phone is showing 745 steps
This is so confusing
Edit: I even have a different result between huawei wear app and huawei health app on my phone. OMG

I'm seeing similar;
Watch Daily Tracking: 5265
Phone Google Fit: 5295
Watch Google Fit: 5353
Phone Huawei Health: 5362
It sure would be nice if Huawei had documentation detailing their software. I'm inclined to stick with the Huawei fitness apps if for no other reason than they capture more data; fingers crossed it's at least somewhat accurate.
Can you please join this thread and send a bug report for this issue? Thanks guys! https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/77606997
Whats the trick to getting sleep data into Fit from the Health app? Everything syncs but sleep data for me.
You know its kind of depends on the amount of time you had you watch on your wrist or your phone in your pocket, also the apps measure this seperately and we know none of them are very acurate to show the exact number of steps so having a difference of say 100 steps would be ok
I have also noticed that google fit sometimes gets stuck on last day's results! Thats the worst part actually...its a real shame that huawei only updates the health app on phone and not on the watch!
the latest updates to GF does not accept data from Huawei Health or a lot of other apps, on contacting Huawei their answer was that end-users should speak to Google about it.
At the moment the only thing the HH is good for is the sleep recording as the figures for the other activities never match up, the data can't be easily moved to another device

How to sync Strava data from my watch?

Hi all, I am a newbie to android wear.
Got a Huawei Watch 2 from China, the Bluetooth version.
I want to use it mainly for tracking my runs.
Most runners use Strava and they do have a version for Android watch as well. I have it installed.
But the problem now I face is, where does the recorded data go?
the whole point of getting this watch is that I don't have to carry my phone with me when I run anymore.
I have tried it a few times. I would start the Strava app on my phone, wait for it to finds GPS signal and press start. then I went for my run. when I was finished I pressed the stop button and I could see a summary of this workout.
Then when I got back to my phone and switched Bluetooth on and connected it to my watch. Data seems to have been synced but I could only see this workout in Huawei Health app, not in Strava. it's really frustrating. Could anyone let me know what I am doing wrong?
I'm not sure how to get the Strava app working, but I've used a different app called Ghostracer that records gps and HR during workout and syncs with several other online services like Strava, Smashrun, and Runkeeper all at once. I like it because it's simple and it also allows you to customize the display while you're working out (for both running and cycling)
I have Strava app on my watch and on my phone. When you go out for your run, wait for the GPS signal to turn white then off you go. Once you are back in range of your phone, it will automatically sync to the Strava app on your phone. To double check this, swipe down on your watch and flick to the left until you see the sync option. It will let you know if any sessions are left pending.
Hope this helps.
Yes, It is very sad that you can not export the training data from huawei training. I have now set up a training program on huawei health for 5000 m running and it works fine. I use endomondo for my training data, so I have to manually write in my running routes in endomondo after each training. When I am running I also play music on the watch via google music on the speaker on the watch. Works pretty fine and I can still hear the surround sound because I do not wear headphones...

Same problem here... I wanted to follow a huawei health training plan, but I also wanted my runs to upload to strava.. The solution I found is very simple: I use both apps to track my runs.. I start the tracking in strava (or ghostracer) and then I switch to the default app and start the tracking for my traning plan. I think you can do the same with endomondo. If you can't, just have some other app to auto-transfer the exercises from strava to endomondo (syncmytracks or tapiriik).

Yeah, that is a clever solution. Will the battery drain be much more if you run 2 apps att the same time to track your runs?
Yesterday I tried strava and "syncmytracks" to endomondo. Works fine. The endomondo app is not yet optimsed for android 2.0. A nice thing with the strava app is that the push button on the watch works to start and stop a run as it works in the huawei heath app.
Huawei heath app can export to google fit but I am not sure if it's only fitness data and not activites as run you track with the huawei heath app. I tried to record a run on the huwei and the used the app "synkmytracks" to synk google fit with endomodo but it doesnt seam to work.
Here is a simple solution:
I did everything according to the instructions, but when I register with Huawei for health and choose the country of Singapore, I receive information about a redirection to my country

i've never been able to view heart rate data on GF.
I have previously but with the recent updates to Huawei Health and Google Fit no data is linked anymore - to get data into GF I now have to use Fit for activity tracking.
I have the same problem. Just a couple of weeks ago, Huawei Health was able to share my steps data with Google Fit. Then Google Fit updated and it's no longer getting that data. From what I can see on Google Play, HH hasn't been updated since Aug 4, 2018. So, looks like Google changed something that Huawei will have to account for.
Until then, I'm going to try reverting Google fit using APK Mirror.

Huawei won't do anything - their stance is that we contact google ourselves
I can inform you that you can use both applications when connecting the watch, although Huawei Health is recommended as it offers more features.
As for the Google Fit application, since it extracts information from our application (and not vice-versa), you will need to find out from Google if they fully support the Huawei Health or the Huawei Watch in order for their app to work properly.

i just noticed that after the recent Google Fit update, I had to open the app on my watch. in doing so, i went through a series of prompts, and eventually enabled the heart rate monitor. now, Google Fit on my phone shows my heart rate data (but only since enabling it on the phone). i know that this does not appear to sync with HH, but it does give the data you could be seeking.
hope this helps.
I get the heart rate through Google Fit as well, but only through the GF side previously you also got it from Huawei Health, my issue is that the other activity data in Huawei Health is no longer synced to GF and instead to get activities showing properly you have to use the GF activity and not HH one

I presume you are referring to the apps on your phone, not just the data in the watch?
so maybe you mean that you use the HH app in the watch to track your activity, and GF is not showing that?
from my experience, GF is tracking my activity regardless of what app I use to track (I use Map My Run). so I don't think it is a sync issue with HH to GF, but more of GF syncing from your watch to your phone. in my opinion, the two apps are redundant, so I'll probably wind up deleting Huawei's Health and Wear apps from my phone.
Both, HH has to store its data in your phone app before it gets synced to GF - this no longer happens after the update. GF will track my activity but not as it should (ie if I started an activity via HH this would end up being logged in GF stating it came from HH, but this no longer happens, you just get basic tracking. If I start the activity using GF then this gets transferred to GF properly so is in my app on phone and on webpage.
Previously I only needed to do everything through HH and this would sync across to GF, but this is no longer the case.
I used to use MapMyWalk but that doesn't use the GPS on watch and they had that major data breach, so wary about using Under Armour products now
I noticed today my data wasn't synched properly for some time, looks like since GF introduced this new system.
Fixed it by going into HH and disconnected from GF then reconnected.

I uninstalled Huawei Health over a year ago and haven't used it, or the watch, since. I can't remember what things I tried, but, I'm guessing nothing worked and I stopped using it.

Question Google Fit sync with Samsung Health (mod)?

With seeing all the development here that de-Samsungize the Watch 4 (like the Samsung Health App mod for BP and ECG sensor for anyone), I became really confident on picking up one soon.
If I understand correctly, the modded samsung health apps will allow me to use every sensor of the watch with my Pixel, without any limitations. But can it sync the data to Google Fit, or is Google Fit supported by the watch as well? I could live without BP sync, but I would like to have my health data synced to Google Fit, just as it is now.

Not everything can sync yet according to Dante (the dev making the modded health apps) but he's working on it. With that said, the sync he's referring to I believe is with Samsung health, but for syncing with Google fit I found a solution to that years ago with an app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.appyhapps.healthsync

I know not everything is syncing at the moment, and I think it's one of the greatest things that after many years of not needing mods & hacks to use my device the way I want to, when the need arose, I could find a solution here in mere minutes. It's sad that Samsung is scamming users into their ecosystem, but that's probably the price we have to pay to get a Wear OS 3 watch this year.
The app you linked looks to do exactly what I was looking for, I'll still have to use the modded Samsung Health, but at least the data can be stored in my GFit profile easily. This is what I was looking for, apart from using Google Pay, which is also confirmed.

You don't actually need modded Samsung Health but the modded Samsung Health Monitor. Two different apps for some reason. The latter is only for BP and ECG. The former is where all the other health data goes.
I've set up the sync with that same app from Samsung Health to Google Fit and it works wonderfully. Even the GPS tracking data is included when it syncs runs.

So basically there is a Samsung Health Monitor (SHM), that is only used to gather sensor data and pass it to Samsung Health, so it's basically just an intermittent interface provided as a separate app?
And Google Fit will get the data from Samsung Health, which gets it from the (modded) Samsung Health Monitor?

Not exactly. SHM is only for blood pressure and ECG. The rest (steps, hr, runs, etc.) is handled directly by Samsung Health.
Regular SHM would share the blood pressure measurements to Samsung Health but modded version doesn't.

So let me see if I got this straight: the modded SHM, which I need for both the phone and the watch, is only for BP and ECG, and that data won't sync (as of yet) with SH on my phone. All the other data will correctly sync with SH because they come from a non modded app.
The app health sync can sync data from SH to google fit.
Is that correct?

So let me see if I got this straight: the modded SHM, which I need for both the phone and the watch, is only for BP and ECG, and that data won't sync (as of yet) with SH on my phone. All the other data will correctly sync with SH because they come from a non modded app.
The app health sync can sync data from SH to google fit.

Question Heart beat mesurements in Google Fit.

Hi,
I just bought a Galaxy Watch 5 Pro to replacing my Fossil Gen 5.
With the Fossil, I had a mesurement of my heart beats in background, during all the day.
I was possible to see the curve in Google Fit on my phone.
But since I've my Galaxy Watch, Google Fit don't mesure my heart in background.
Samsung Health does this, but I have all my history in Google Fit.
With Google Fit, now, I only can make manual mesurement.
Is it any solution/setup to solve this?
I've been using Health Sync (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.appyhapps.healthsync) for a year now with Galaxy Watch 4 and I'm super happy. It's a paid app but we'll worth it if you want all data in Google Fit. It can sync everything from Samsung Health to Google Fit.
I've also been waiting for Google Fit to support the Health Platform which would do "native" synching. It should come at some point but you never know.
Install Google fit on your watch from play store, it should work right out of the box
In this case, we have to use Health Sync to have all the informations.
Thanks for the solution.

Yesterday I noticed an article about Google Fit Connect being now supported: https://9to5google.com/2022/10/10/google-fit-health-connect/
I tried to install it on my phone and now Samsung Health and Google Fit sync even without Health Sync. At first, Samsung Health didn't seem to write heart rate data to Fit Connect but after updating Samsung Health and changing watch to measure continuously, it now syncs even heart rate data. I believe it was just the Samsung Health update that was needed but need to test it.

Apparently the current version of Samsung Health doesn't write steps or exercise data to Fit Health Connect. Let's see if they can fix it soon.
Its still buggy, Samsung abruptly stopped recording to health connect, Health sync app is still the best option until google and Samsung stabilizes it
Can confirm Health Connect now works with Samsung Health and Google Fit, however as others have said, workouts from Samsung Health don't get transferred over to Google Fit (yet). Let's hope this gets expanded on soon.
I installed health Connect but doesn't write steps from Samsung Health to Google Fit!
What can be done?
I asked Samsung too
You have to accept lots of permissions on your phone and on your watch.
It could be the cause.
I checked all possible permissions from Google Fit, Samsung Health, Health Connect.
Still no steps writing from SH to GF.
Another idea?
Health Connect says i need screen lock, i do have that and try to change it but no go.
