Samsung USA does not recognize my IMIE and the phone is no longer showing on the site. I tried to register it with no success so i called customer care and was told my IMIE isn't in the system, any advice?
Isn't that an canadian version, the Rogers one?
Yeah i'm using it on AT&T. The phone was on the site a couple of days before i got mine.

Mine is the same version so, I will try registering maybe it has to be done through Samsung Canada.
i tried but it requires a Canadian address

Then Samsung USA wouldn't cover the warranty, since it wasn't sold in USA market.
yeah i was afraid of that
I bought mine from Best Buy in Canada but can't register it on Samsung Canada's site. The model number i9020a does not exist in their database...
so this issue is not just a samsung usa problem

Even the i9020t is not in the list, so does samsung usa show the i9020t?
Just registered my i9020a but had to call Samsung Canada and do it over the phone. You get 3 months additional warranty when you register.

samsung seems to be really making big efforts to capture greater market share in africa, im wondering if they see something there that other OEMs aren't
I wouldn't put too much stock in whether or not the box has a label stating the lock. The one I looked at in Phones4U here in the UK had the sticker yet the one I received direct from Three UK yesterday didn't. It's probably fair to assume that Three UK would only be distributing region locked units so make of the assumptions what you will.
I've had 2 different large online mobile Australian retailers confirm to me, the GN3 they sell is not region locked. Would any Telstra users care to weigh in?
There's no sim region warning on Turkish model (SM-9000Q). Carrier sim locks are forbidden here so probably Turkish model does not have region locks. I am not sure that regulation is applicable to what samsung did.
I'm in Minneapolis, MN in the US. I didn't see a sticker anywhere, nor was there anything in regard to regional locking in my paperwork.
I used my old SIM - I was in a hurry and they just sold me the unopened box & contents. There is an "Isis Ready" Advanced SIM Card in the box with a May expiration date. Since everything works, I wasn't going to pursue it unless I tripped on some new info about it. I'm not sure yet who I'll wallet through, if I do it at all on this phone.
saudi arabia is interesting one major seller has stickers on them but most of the smaller shops in malls sell the unlocked ones. so maybe we should put an asterisk near saudi arabia lol
~Sim lock
Correct me if I am wrong but my understanding was that the phone is region locked only until it has registered with a Sim from the region it is locked too.
Once you have registered the device the lock is removed.
I was under the impression that it is not to stop you from using you device with a sim from another region but rather to just stop cheap imports from appearing in certain markets.
I am picking mine up tomorrow from Three UK will post back what I find.

Strange, because the 838 shouldnt have LTE band 20 (800mhz), only 1800/2600... Only 837 have band 20.

Can you activate Band 20(800mhz)? Because then it isnt an hardware thing, only software which means that you can use band 20 or am I wrong?
Seems like the D838 is the one to look for, I have search alot for any shop in europe which sells it for around 235£ /325 € /359$ or under- But cant find any store that sells it for that lind of price. I found one store, but they did only deliver to uk
Anyone here know any store?

I've read some guys bought it on eBay from a high rated seller
(I don't know the name though). There will be custom taxes to pay, you may want to consider that.

I got the international simply because I can root NOW and use titaniumbackup/tasker fully aware that I will never have wifi calling
is there a difference? probably.
is benchmark same as real world usage? no
is it a game breaker on either one? prob not, and I am not going to lose sleep over the "wrong one" that I got
I will get the international model then. Thanks.
i just got my international model and i LOVE it. Exynos is the way to go.
Was your device region and sim locked? Or did you just put in your tmo/att sim and it worked?
