[Q] Warranty For I9020A? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Samsung USA does not recognize my IMIE and the phone is no longer showing on the site. I tried to register it with no success so i called customer care and was told my IMIE isn't in the system, any advice?

Isn't that an canadian version, the Rogers one?

Yeah i'm using it on AT&T. The phone was on the site a couple of days before i got mine.

Mine is the same version so, I will try registering maybe it has to be done through Samsung Canada.

i tried but it requires a Canadian address

Then Samsung USA wouldn't cover the warranty, since it wasn't sold in USA market.

yeah i was afraid of that

I bought mine from Best Buy in Canada but can't register it on Samsung Canada's site. The model number i9020a does not exist in their database...

so this issue is not just a samsung usa problem

Even the i9020t is not in the list, so does samsung usa show the i9020t?

Just registered my i9020a but had to call Samsung Canada and do it over the phone. You get 3 months additional warranty when you register.

Yes I'm from Canada. Keep calling them. Tell them you can't do it online because your model number isn't listed.

"Bad ESN" means that it's (most likely) been reported stolen, and it's been blacklisted at the provider. Changing SIM-card won't work.
It's probably the NS4G which is Sprint only (hence why it has a bad esn)
and on the other hand, every gsm version of the nexus s should work fine in the uk.
I have got a uk model now

The full details of the GSM capabilities of the Verizon GS3 have not been released, but preliminary details indicate it will work in Europe (or any other GSM serviced area) for voice, but will be limited to Edge data speeds. As I said, this is not confirmed.

GT-P6210 Missing IR & Kies ICS issue

Hi all,
Couple of questions if you can help at all?
I opted to buy the Galaxy Tab Plus as a wedding present for my brother on the basis of it having an IR Blaster. However, the one I received doesn't have it and it is definitely the above model. I've bought it through a UK website (Pixmania), checking bothered US and UK variants they both should have it. The only country I've found that doesn't have it is Canada and that's adhoc!
Next, in my attempt to update to ICS as well Samsung Kies isn't going beyond the latest firmware for 3.2, which is making me think even more it's an international model as I believe ICS has been rolled it to all of Europe.
I've raised it with Samsung and Pixmania in the hope of resolving, but thought I'd ask the forum if anyone else has had similar issues.
Cheers.

Hi
I got the model from future shop in canada but we don't get ISC update officially for the gt-p6210
Thats the strangest thing, Canada is the only country that I've found through the web that has these missing.
Annoyingly I've know no idea how to check what region it belongs too!
I've raised it with both Samsung and Pixmania and will report my findings.

The IR blaster is region specific and is also missing from some European and Asian models too as its not compatible with their electronics, its not just Canada. The only way to be sure you get one that has it is to get a U.S. P6210.

Nope, The Asian models have it too.. the official international model is - GT-P6200 and it has IR blaster as well..
Canada is not the only country left without ICS, even Australia hasnt received official ICS support yet..
but it doesnt matter, we have XDA to help us out for that..

Should I get the international or US model?

Does the international model have an unlocked bootloader? Will the US model ever become unlocked?
Yes international have unlocked bootloader, AT&T and Verizon has a locked bootloader.
If you like Exynos, but international.

some swear by snapdragon (us), some swear by exyonos (int)
I got the international simply because I can root NOW and use titaniumbackup/tasker fully aware that I will never have wifi calling
is there a difference? probably.
is benchmark same as real world usage? no
is it a game breaker on either one? prob not, and I am not going to lose sleep over the "wrong one" that I got
I will get the international model then. Thanks.
i just got my international model and i LOVE it. Exynos is the way to go.
Was your device region and sim locked? Or did you just put in your tmo/att sim and it worked?

eSIM = not locked to a carrier?

I have a Verizon model Great S2, never activated, only used via BT. Can it be activated in T-Mobile? Do I need to get it unlocked?
Thanks.
I also have the Verizon model and was told the same but not sure since I myself haven't tried to activate the watch.
Sent from my SM-G935T using XDA-Developers mobile app
I'm also wondering about the radio. Do the different models have different modems, and since the Verizon one has a CDMA modem, is it incompatible with T-Mobile bands?
If you look at Network Mode you'll see WCDMA/GSM (auto connect) so I'm guessing you could, I would check to see if yours is the same, which I wouldn't be surprised if it was. I have a 2nd hand Gear S2 that was bought from TMO. Then again, what do I know since I was too chicken to buy a Verizon one to find out before buying the one I have.
OK, I live chatted with Samsung and called their support phone line. According to both, the carrier versions are carrier locked, and cannot be unlocked. So, no switching between carriers. They told me I'll need to buy another Gear S2 if I want to move to another carrier.
If the Verizon version is capable of LTE then it should be carrier unlocked out of the box just like their phones. It was part of the stipulation for them to be able to buy the extra spectrum they bought a while back.

Anyone tried to Verizon Gear S2 on a GSM network (AT&T or T-mobile)?
Just bought a Gear S2 for $99 refurbished and thinking maybe I should have bought GSM because or worldwide compatibility.
None of the Gear S2 have LTE which is carrier compatible. Verizon Sprint have CDMA 3G and AT&T and T-Mobile have GSM 3G.

Same here, saw the android police article and bought a Verizon one to replace my wife's broken fitbit. Im wondering how much more I'll have to pay monthly or to activate.

I attempted it yesterday, apperantly verizons model doesn't have an esim number so it can't be used.

I activated my S2 Verizon on Page Plus. Put a $10 pin on it that will last 120 days.
$0.10/min talk, $0.05 text, $0.10 meg data.
Given my experience with the Gear S this is enough for my needs when I'm occasionally without my phone.
jb
JB can you say more on how you got it activated I'm on Page Plus? Something like that would be perfect for me. Just order a T-mobile S2 Classic. Thanks.
