Notifications not showing on edge - Note Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I only received the edge yesterday, and I can remember that while I was setting things up, notifications were showing up in the edge screen. However, since then, I only get notification icons appear in the top notification panel, and not in the edge screen. I have set up the edge notification panel set up correctly, and selected all apps.
Incidentally I have my android wear watch connected. Should this make a difference?

I had this happen to me before. I rebooted my phone and everything was fine afterwards.

Yeah.. I hate to say it but I had the same exact problem and it turned out to be the Android Wear. If you uninstall Android Wear, notifications start working on the edge screen again.

Notifications work fine for me with Android wear running. But I would make sure "mute connected phone" is unchecked within the Android wear settings.

Thanks for both the replies. Weird thing is the notifications started working again this morning - bizarre.
Would be good if there was more customisation of the edge panel possible.

Keep wishing. We're all in the same boat about wanting more edge customization.

True true, such a shame for samsung to neglect it when it has so much more potential. Wonder if there will be an Note Edge 2? And not like the S6 variety hopefully.

As much as we all dream or hope..but we have to accept the reality that samsung is using edge owners as guinea pigs to test out the market...which lead them to release s6 edge. The note edge is only a "test" product for samsung. Dont think they will improve any further not to mention even updating to 5.1 ....guess tough luck for us edge owners..

Well I'm used to being a Samsung guinea pig after owning the galaxy camera, s4 zoom, galaxy nx and now the edge.
To be honest I think that the edge will get lollipop eventually, but I'm not that fussed to be honest. I bought the Edge on what it can do now, and still think it offers a lot more than the note 4. Plus reports are that lollipop for the note 4 has bugs a plenty...

Well we have loly already...in fact im already running it..but it seem they wont update them to 5.1. Personally i have no problem since my edge is already fast and smooth. But still ...im sure if u own a device..especially something kinda top of the range and pricey..and still only released less than a year...suddenly you learn the manufacturer just dump us..and not plan updating..im sure we will be very pissed.

5.0 is a prequsite to 5.1 and will come to the Sprint variant via ota but not until Q4 or later depending on delays. 5.1 (Sprint variant) updates the radio/modem, connectivity issues.
I can't speak for Verizon/at&t/T-Mobile as each carrier sends out their own ota updates NOT Samsung so its not Samsung's fault you don't have lollipop that is your wireless carriers fault so blame them. Its completely up to your wireless carrier to release the update or not...some carriers do more testing than others some add more bloatware. Basically your wireless carrier gets the update and they add their insignia, bloatware, carrier apps, restrict tethering, add locked boot loader, so on and so forth.
If your an at&t customer expect them to keep locking it down so its harder to root...they love their locked bootloaders.
Sprint & T-Mobile tend to have the least amount of bloatware/changes hence why its released quicker.

I have a similar issue. I installed Augmented SmartWatch Pro for some of the features it could add to the Edge. As a result, it shut off all of the notifications on the Edge (LED, Briefing bar, top of phone, etc) , but that was to be expected as Augmented is supposed to be the one-stop for notifications..
Anyway, the app was a bit clunky so I uninstalled it and only some of the notifications came back. The LED notification light - dead. The briefing edge bar - only shows Google mail notifications, no txt notifications and no IMAP company email notifications. I've gone into settings for the phone and ensured LED notify is checked, as well as inside of edge settings I've triple checked that the information stream is on and the notifications I want are selected. I also rebooted the phone, of course. While I know some ppl don't even use these aspects as a matter of preference, I really miss the LED (old Blackberry habits die hard) and the briefing notifications summary was handier to me than the top of the phone icons.
My suspicion is that the Augmented had a dirty uninstall where it didn't revert some of the settings inside the OS back to default, and those settings I can't get to via the GUI. Does anyone know some root commands that I could check or am I just going to have to go back to factory default/wipe the phone? I'm somewhat ok with doing that as I only got the device on Wednesday.

Tab 3 8 Kit Kat. What's new?

I just got the kit kat update for Tab 3 8. I live in LA California. Wifi only and I had to force it using the check for updates option. So I can list a few differences I'm noticing. I'm pretty sure all this stuff is new but some of it might be stuff I missed with 4.2.2.
Transparent notification bar.
New multiwindow experience. Now it does not have that little tab hanging over the side. Now you swipe it in from the side. I haven't played with it, I still find it unusable.
You can customise the toggle ribbon more now. You still have to have tons of icons but you can pick the order and take a few out.
The lock screen has a now playing type widget that looks nice.
On-screen keyboard toogle for bluetooth keyboards. I actually am trying to write a screenplay on this tablet and I had to buy a stupid app to fix the stupid keyboard the stupid way it worked be stupid fore and now it works better and I bought a stupid app for stupid nothing. But I'm glad it works better now.
That's all I've noticed so far. I also don't use touchwiz, I use nova.
Tell me what you guys are noticing or if you find an official list of changes let me know. Thanks everybody

Jacksonville, FL here and no update available yet.
Cosmetically it's hard to notice the difference on the firmware, but under the hood there are some serious changes to the firmware, but all for the better.
The "Transparent Notification bar" was there on JB 4.2.2,
And "Multiple windows" is very functional now.
● TouchWiz is lighter and smooth now...
(I'm so happy with it's performance now, to the point I didn't bothered to install the Google Now Launcher yet...)
● Third-party apps can't write to External SD card anymore...
(There is a way if you root the device)
● Some extra new Wi-Fi settings.
● The keyboard is improved and the "Picture gallery" and other factory apps also received some TLC for the better.
But for me, the "Multiple User capability" is definitely th e Icing on the cake.

I was hoping the autobrightness would get fixed. For me it's always way too dim. Where is the light sensor?

Galaxy S7 Edge features discussion

I am going to start this thread to talk about galaxy s7 edge features. Please tell me about your favorite features.
One feature not many people seem to know about is the edge feeds. These were on the S6E but quite a lot of people are not aware.
If you quickly swipe up and then down on the edge of the screen while it is locked, you will see your notifications.
You can add more in the edge settings.

I came across this option when I held my phone wrong (sweaty hands). I left the 'missed calls' feed but I disabled rest, I don't get it why Yahoo is forced on us so much, in Europe (correct me if i'm wrong) people barely use Yahoo, Google totally obliterated them.

Tips and Tricks found *UPDATED 11/28*

Hey all, Just got my LTE variant and have been fiddling around with it and have discovered some things. Wanted to post here and let people know what I've come across.
So far I have discovered:
-Gear works with Rooted Devices (at least with my Note 4)
-Samsung Pay from Gear works with Rooted Devices (Can't add my Discover Card yet, planned support for hopefully end of year)
-You DON'T have to use the default texting app in order to send/receive/reply to messages from the S3. So far, the apps I've found that support this are Google Hangouts, ChompSMS, Textra, and Google Messenger. It does have a few hangups though. This thread states the methods I used to achieve this and the hangups observed by doing this.
-You can control phone music from the s3, but cannot stream to it...yet.
-Gear seems to auto lock when removed from wrist. Unable to tell if it's based on the lack of heart beat or sense of movement. Not an issue, just making aware.
-Gear supports AOD (Always On Display). The type of display given is based on the watch face currently in use, so it would appear your watch face must have support for it otherwise it will default to a stock face (needs testing). Using AOD will shift pixels around to prevent burn in every time you go to wake the watch. Have lightly tested and can verify it shifts. Will be testing on my next charge cycle to test battery life and burn in potential (trying to test as much as I can within my 14 day period of which to exchange for another device (lemon law)
So far that's all I've come across and will update this page accordingly with more information. Please feel free to add yourself anything you have discovered so we can let the rest of our Gear toting brothers and sisters know these tips and tricks.

The Samsung Pay you use is a baked in app that is part of the Samsung Gear app. I have in installed on my rooted Nougat port on my HTC 10 and it works perfect. You don't need the official Samsung Pay app installed on the device at all. It seems as of now, that Samsung thinks the security on the watch is enough to allow you to use it side by side with a rooted phone. I hope it stays that way, because I have never been able to use Android pay because of the Root issue.

Yes I did. However have been very busy since getting it and have not had time to update the thread. I've tested a few additional features and even a skin from Skinomi to protect the watch. When I have time tonight I will try to update what I can.
What I can say now, the watch feels a little lackluster, but since it's my first wearable, and it works for what I bought it for (messaging/calling, Samsung pay) it works great. But there are time I worry I'm not using it to its potential or it's just in its baby phases and doesn't have many apps yet.

I just picked mine up a few days ago a and that sums up my feelings also. It's my first smartwatch and I've been wondering if I'm using it's full potential. I haven't been thrilled with the battery life but I have been playing around with it a lot and have only charged it a couple of times. Hopefully that will improve when I finally decide on a watch face that I can live with, I think I've changed the face a couple of hundred times.
Samsung Pay is available on S3, the only difference is that if you bought the BT version, it'll requires that you have the phone nearby for the 4GLTE to make the payment or such. If you have the LTE model and uses that, then you should be fine.

Correction, BT version can do 10 transactions without the phone nearby for Samsung Pay. After that, you need to sync with the phone to get another 10.

I just got the update last night. I'm on T-Mobile. Any other new additions included in this update?
I was really hoping to get rid of the required PIN for Samsung Pay. Annoying to have to constantly enter it if I'm not wearing my watch super tightly all the time. Might just abandon Samsung Pay on my watch and just use it on my phone from now on...

The new update allows you to set the pin for payment only. I think the settings menu changed a little bit, not noticing other major changes.

The update from T-Mobile states that VoLTE was added, a patch for the BlueBorne security issue was added and "Samsung Value Pack 1" was added. I have tried, with no luck finding out what this Value Pack 1 contains. I assume it is different than the Value Pack from April.
That being said, I notice no differences in UI, Settings UI or widgets.

Has anyone figured out or come across a method of disabling the attached app? ADB method is futile
com.tmobile.echolocate
Only alternative that comes to mind is flashing the U1 firmware.
Same here on both the Note20 & Ultra versions.
I even tried to uninstall via ADB to no avail.
Seriously considering installing the US unlocked firmware.
using Insular app maybe
Freeze using SD Maid or Titanium?
@raul6
Not quite getting how Insular would help.
Sounds like a copy of the app is sandboxed, but, the other copy is still active.
If I'm missing something, please elaborate.

Not rooted, SD Maid/Titanium are of no help in this situation.
Most any other bloatware is able to be frozen/disabled via ADB, but, this one isn't, on an unrooted device.

Hello how are you? Long time no see, good seeing you on here.
Right back at ya.
Yeah,it's been a while, not on as much as w/previous phones (equally because the site changes a while back were buggy, better now, but, still getting used to the new look & feel).
New to the Note 20 Ultra,I probably wouldn't have gotten it if not for a generous Mother's Day trade-in value on the LG Wing ($800).
I've had the regular Note 20 for quite a while now. Too bad the RAM & Storage take a hit vs the Ultra, otherwise it's a solid phone.
From what I gather, there'll be a trade-off if flashing from T-Mo to US Unlocked firmware,in that eSIM is MIA on the latter.
I think I'm going to go ahead & do it anyway,eSIM isn't a must-have,but,it does suck that one has to choose & make a compromise.
I saw that you came from the S21 Ultra........ I probably would have got that, but, the bulk of a case that can hold an S-Pen was a deal breaker. Otherwise,I'm guessing the overall performance is noticeably better than the Note 20 Ultra.
Package Disabler... it gets the AT&T update parasite.

If from the Google Play Store, can you post the link?
I'm currently using the PC tool ADB App Control. It's an awesome tool, but, neither it nor regular ADB commands are working in removing the T-Mobile Diagnostic Tool app.

This is the only one that consistently works year after year.
This recent version doesn't list Google play Services so I have to manually disable it in apps, WTF? It still lists and blocks AT&T updates from running though. It's a yearly subscription now and cloud based however once it's installed you can firewall block it (which I do) with no harm.
Home - Package Disabler
The only NON-root solution that let’s you disable any unwanted packages that come pre-installed / installed with your phone / tablet.
www.packagedisabler.com
You can also call the carrier and have (demand) them to disable it on their end. Did that with AT&T but if you get another device you'll need to do it again. It took some head banging to find an advance tech there to do it.

Good seeing you back. In regards to the S21U, I ordered one in 256GB from Samsung direct, had an issue and sent it back the next day, the screen on the particular one I had, had severe color shift even at a slightest angle. I just couldn't live with that. So now I'm back again in the Note 20U again, this time a mystic black TMO model. Previous was bronze and before that it was a white dual sim south American model and a few other devices in between.
I think I'm going to the same, and flash U1. There was also a lot of Sprint apps on it also.
@Limeybastard
How ya liking the Sprint-TMo merger so far?
My phone hopping has slowed down somewhat, phones are getting too pricey & the pace of innovation has slowed a bit vs 2-3 yrs ago. 5G compatibility w/the imports is my biggest deterrent ,too bad,lot of cool devices from Xiaomi/Vivo/OPPO,etc.......
Definitely interested in going to US unlocked firmware, but,I came across a how-to thread here that seems to indicate swapping from U1 to carrier & vice-versa on BL2 is broke.

You can also call the carrier and have (demand) them to disable it on their end. Did that with AT&T but if you get another device you'll need to do it again. It took some head banging to find an advance tech there to do it.

Reference firewall, I tried using Karma firewall , but it creates a constant VPN connection.

In my neck of the woods I have seen some slight improvement in 4G LTE speeds, I can also get a 5G signal which is unfortunately slower than LTE for me, so I just keep mine set to LTE 3g 2g etc mode.
The lack of carrier aggregation was my biggest turn off in regards to non USA devices. Lack of 5G not so much of a concern.
Unfortunately I updated mine to BL2 so if that's the case then we'll have to wait until U1 is available to us. Oh well. ..

It's a VPN based firewall.
It uses almost no battery... is there something I missed?

Hang on a minute as my memory is getting awful with age, we're on bootloader 2 correct ? If memory serves me correctly we can't flash to U1 firmware bootloader version 1? But I think there is U1 firmware on bootloader version 2 available now.

I'm afraid you're correct. They want to lock you in to Android's flat spin to hell.
The AT&T 4G stock Note 10+/Pie performs well after some... adjustments
That and maybe the Note 20U are the only Samsung's I would consider as Samsung's latter offerings are weak. Android 11 is a disaster and 10 is probably a downgrade from Pie.
Android is on track to be a flaming wreck if Gookill can't pull out of the flat spin it put its self in.
All in all I'm considering buying another Note 10+ 512gb 4G mostly for the extra ram. The 20U has faster memory/cpu but is handicapped by Q.
Slim pickens in my opinion... the N10+ is fast with a gorgeous display. It lacks the rounded corners displays which I loathe, being a CRT raised child The only downside to the perfectly square corners is the need for a good case. These corner hitting Notes will get destroyed without one.

I've been running it for about 6 months. It's always on as it cuts my battery usage by blocking apps like Android Services from constantly polling the internet. Accubattery is also a habitual offender.
It's been a valuable tool in tracking down battery hogs and data mining apps. I have yet to see any misbehavior from it. A near perfect app.
It's valuble logging feature doesn't work on Q and and above I been told. Thanks Gookill...

You need to get a N20U, it'll all be good after a few tweaks. Try it , you'll thank me later.
