Hi Guys... I desperately need your help.. So, I downloaded this app called ROEHSOFT RAM EXPANDER, it worked for me but after 2 weeks, it says "you have a buggy root access" or something like that, i don't really remember exactly what it said. And then when I rebooted my phone, it doesn't work anymore, I tried to make a swap file using TE but when I enter the command "swapon" or "busybox swapon" it says "swapon failed" or "invalid argument". Please help me.. How can I enable swap files again in my phone? :crying:
I'm just a newbie when it comes to rooting and these kind of things so please don't get mad at me if I've done anything wrong with my phone..

Uninstall the app. Use SwapFile Check. If it says your phone is compatible, use Ram Expander again. Make sure you have and grant root access for the apps.
BTW
This app costs a lot and promises to speed up your phone, but SWAP ram has a really bad performance. Your phone has 512MB Ram (May be 400MB usable). If you have a fast sd card (class10 +) you can use may be 1/3 of the amount your physical ram as extra swap: 400MB+133MB=533MB for getting a good performance. If you have a slow sd card (class 4) and/or set a high amount of swap e.g. 500MB you will gain absolutely nothing by using ROEHSOFT Ram expander as the swap storage is much slower than the physical ram.
My suggestion:
download and install FDROID --> open FDROID --> install "Performance Control" --> Check out if your kernel supports ZRAM (ram compression). 20-30% should be fine for it.
and
uninstall EVERY app you don't really need.

Of course you can try to use swap, but you should avoid large SWAP values. ZRAM has a higher r/w speed at cost of a little bit cpu performance.

Why you want to do so? Ram expander enables SWAP on its own. You don't need to manually activate it. Where did you get the information that you need to manually activate it?

I mean I'll make a swap file then activate it using swapon or busybox swapon, I just thought of it as an option if RAM EXPANDER fails again.. But thank you for all the information sir. You helped me a lot. I'll do your instructions once I get home... Thank you again sir

Hey Guys...i've found a way after lots of research and experiments a way to increase RAM in Micromax A56 (thanks to xda). Unlike most of the devices A56 supports swap default by its stock kernel.
ROOT NEEDED....BUSYBOX NEEDED. !!!
Note - This Mod May/Will Degrade Your SDCARD Life.
Needed Apps - Swapper for root and Swapper2 (Download these from Playstore)
SETTING UP SWAPPER FOR ROOT
1. Click on Active Swap on boot.
2. Set swap file partition to - "SD Card FAT Partition"
3. Enter "512" or "256" in swap file size(in MB).
4. Click Save it will take some time about 2-4 minutes depending upon the swap file size we created. (you can experiment with the swap file size).
SETTING UP SWAPPER2 :-
1. Open Swapper2.
2. U'll see a black screen, click on ads off.
3. Now go to settings, Make sure you have "Run swapper at startup" box checked. Go to swap place and change it to "/sdcard/swap.swp".
4. Now Click on swap size and choose 256mb(you can experiment with the digits).
5. Go to swappiness and set it to 100.
6. Check the boxes "Safe Unmount" and "Safe Remount".
7. Now go to "Advanced Prefrences"-->Check the box "Reformat swap".
8. Leave everything else as it is...Don't touch anything and exit settings come to main screen of swapper2.
NEXT STEP-----> ACTION..!!!!
1. Click on "ON" Button. It will/may show some fails but don't freak out(its normal), Wait untill it shows "All Done!"
3. Now we are done...!!!! Now check ur sdcard, you will see a file named "swap.swp".
4. Now download Advanced Task Killer from the market and kill all the running apps and go and see ur free RAM. You will see more RAM free than usual. But in actual u have more than that cuz we just created a swap in our SDCARD.
NOW you can play Games which require heavy ram usage ( I love that..!!!) Like Temple Run, Asphalt 6, etc. Some games may still show little lags.
If you want more performance while gaming, download Chainfire3D and All its plugins and play.
If this helped you Click THANKS to help me.
This method can work for other devices too...TRY and SEE...!!!
Test post.
Hope now its visible to other members also.

Hi, I have finally managed to root the A56. Installed the Swapper for Root & the Swapper2 apps from PlayStore.
When I open SfR and select the option 'Active Swap on Boot', there is no option for SD Card FAT Partition. It just comes up blank.
I have created a secondary partition on the SD card using the Mini Home Partition tool as FAT32.
What am I doing wrong??

ur sdcard shud be of FAT filesystem
Does the microSD need to be FAT16 or FAT32??
The microSD has been formatted as FAT32. Does swapper need a new partition to work on as apps2SD does? Or will it work on the default partition?
Mine is working on FAT filesystem...can also work on fat32 no new partition needed.

how much ram do you get after doing this
in running services it shows 40-50mb ram...
it does not show more ram but it is usex when an app which requires more ram is launched.
if u dont understand this clearly...read the true meaning of swapping...on xda or on wikipedia.

Ok, just installed it and it does delete crap, and gives an option to move to SD card but it just hangs and then says 'Failure' - invalid install location.
Does the SD card have to be formatted in a different way? If so, how?

i think you have rooted your phone but your still on stock rom
you should move to custom roms now
but if your sticking to stock rom for now
for moving app's to sd card try this guide
http://lgp500-optimusone.blogspot.in/2011/10/how-to-moveinstall-apps-to-sd-card-on.html
I'm using stock ROM yes. I think I need to format the SD card to ext2 or something. I only want to be able to copy everything to SD.
I tried making a partition as it says in the instructions, but the SD card is recognised as a 1GB card now in my phone rather than the 16GB it is.
It said to create a 14GB partition in ext2 format in order to transfer all apps to the card. If I do that though, 1GB isn't enough for all my music! Confused.

Now do one thing.Format your sd card to fat32 and then repartition it using recovery and select 1 gb (not 14) ext 2,3 or 4(ext4 preferred).

But surely, all I'm doing is partitioning the card so that 1GB is set to ext 2, meaning only 1GB of the card can be used for apps that can't normally be stored on the FAT32 partition?
Ok - since my last post, I did what you said so partitioned 1GB ext 2. When I open Link2SD, I get asked to choose the file system of my SD cards second partition. I can choose between:
ext2, ext2, ext4, and FAT32. Whatever I select, I get an error message - 'Mount script cannot be created. mount: Device or resource busy. ext2 maynot be supported on your device. Try FAT32 on the second partition'.
I then choose FAT32 and it says 'mount script cannot be created. mount: invalid argument'.
Just rebooted the phone and Link2SD doesn't ask me the above anymore, but now when I try again to move the Facebook app to the SD card, I still get the error:
Failure: pkg: /data/app/com.facebook.katana-1.apk Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INVALID_INSTALL_LOCATION]
In yet 'Whatsapp' which usually has to stay on the phones memory has no problems being sent to the SD card in Link2SD.
Any ideas please?
Ok this is weird... I formatted the card again to FAT32, and then tried transferring whatsapp to the SD card and it worked.
Uninstalled Facebook and reinstalled it from the play store and that also can be moved! It's really strange but it works. I thought you had to partition the card.
I do have other questions though. Can you keep the stock rom, and still have everything you download auto install to the SD card?
What is busybox for? Do I need it?
What can I do to speed the phone up now?
Thanks.
Busybox is necessary....no need to partition the card......the failure error may occur if u are moving something from rom to external sd....first move it to internal....to speed up ur phone change the kernel...
.thundervn kernel is best for stock...make sure u hav clockworkmod recovery installed....if not....download rom manager from play store....

Just so you all know, I only want to use stock rom. I don't want to be messing about with custom roms.
The SD card isn't partitioned, and 95% of all apps seem to be going across to the SD card no problems, but I get that 'failure'message with an app called 'proboards' which I downloaded from the play store - any reason why? LinkSD does say it requires a partition but it says that for all the other apps that transferred across fine.
I've also noticed my internal memory is still slowly decreasing even when apps are being transferred to SD - what can I do to stop this?
Finally, I bought 'SetCPU' app for my phone. Not 100% how to use it but when I set the min and max cpu speed to the max my phone can offer, my phone seems much quicker - is this ok to do?
Thanks

Really to get the full benefit out of rooting you'll want to play with some custom roms but as for the cpu setting the minimum higher will just cause your battery to drain really fast. What you want is a custom kernal that will allow you to overclock the cpu past 600 on the max end.

Ok, so at the moment I have transferred all my apps to the SD card. How would I go about flashing it then?
What rom should I use?
How will having a new rom stock the internal memory from being eaten up? And why is it still being eaten up now that they are all on the SD card?
Finally, surely if you overclock, it will use even more battery? I've just got it set to the maximum cpu so surely it must be improving something??

If you wanna use a safer Ram boosting app try the V6 supercharger script. It has an option where you can increase the Ram by using the memory. But it doesn't really make any difference, at least not for me.
Swap is used to store unused apps on that swap instead of the RAM, so that is why you don't see RAM Increase.
btw, swap on flash memories (like SSD, our phone's storage) kills them because flash memories have a limited read/write cycles.

I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong section, feel free to move it if so. Like2SD was the first program I tried. When I go to move an app to the SD card, it tells me:
"app2sd is not supported by your device. Because your device has a primary external storage which is emulated from the internal storage."
I can link the files if I want, but doing that doesn't do much on saving space. Thanks!

repartition your sd card....
first check your kernal support swapping or not with swapper script....

Don't worry, I'm not giving up so easily...there HAS to be a way to do this with my phone. Maybe I should try using a different partition, like ext4 or ext3? I know ext2 is the one that is said to work the most, but it's obviously not working. Do you the partitions have to be set as "active" for this to work? Where can I find the kernal script? What's strange about using that method, is when I swap, my memory card changes to 1.96 GB (which is what the internal normally is) but the internal stays at 1.96 GB. So than I have both of my memory, internal and external at 1.96 GB and I have to to uninstall the program and reset my phone for the external to go back to 7.96 GB which is the size of the card I have. It's a scandisk card...do you think that makes a difference?

Is it possible to increase my (rooted 4.4.4) fake galaxy note 4's phone storage, by taking some storage from the internal memory? Is it possible via root, or ROM at all? I don't want apps2sd or anything like that.
I think the phone storage is smaller than listed in settings, and I can get less than a mb of storage on it. No downloads go to my SD card, even when the settings are right.
By increasing my phone storage, I can at least see what's wrong.
Thanks

You'll need to change the system partition, and I wouldn't recommend doing it..

Well, upon lengthy consideration, I think I still want to. Can you tell me a little more? Can I do this with the stock ROM? Where would I find a guide to do this?

I never actually did this, and it seems to me that this is device specific meaning that you will not find a universal method how to change system partition.
I am not by a pc now, so I can't make really any research.

Thanks, but xposed won't install. I think lots of stuff uses the phone storage. When deleting everything possible, I can get about 1mb space. I think the storage is much less than stated.

OK bro I think you have a option that is creat partition on SD card & use link2sd app to free internal memory but remember I am not responsible for kind of damage, try this at ur own risk...
For procedure check this post.....

Thanks. I didn't really want to do this, but thinking about it more, its probably the best solution. I will try when I next have time to play around with my phone.
