[ROM][TUTORIAL] Cyanogen Mod 11 - Sony Xperia E3

Hello Everyone,
First of all, I don't want to earn credits to making this guide on how to install CM 11 on Xperia E3 (d2203) I'm just translating the tutorial made by #moiremoi
Warning: This modification of your phone state will remove the warranty. Moiremoi, FXPTeam, xda developpers staff or even myself will decline any responsability on possibles issues you could get by using this ROM, flashing or any method used from this tutorial.
REVIEW:
This ROM is an unofficial CM11 ROM created from the FXP Team. It is stable and final (this mean that there would not be any update anymore)
Its is 4.4.4 based
SCREENSHOTS:
HOW TO INSTALL:
Requirements:
Sony Xperia E3 d2203 (i don't tested other versions so idk if it works or not)
Unlocked bootloader
CWM or Teamwin Recovery
Rooted android 4.4.4 firmware 18.5.C.0.19
Better do a recovery of your phone state before doing any modification
Things to download:
CM 11 ROM : http://uploaded.net/f/zx9n6h/
GAPPS : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934553399 (please take these for CM11 or Android 4.4.4)
Updater-Script: http://www.mediafire.com/file/400vsdcaasc9619/updater-script (modified "Updater-script" to avoid ''Leo'' error)
How to do:
- First of all, open the CM11 archive without unzipin it and navigate to "META-INF/com/google/android" and replace the existing "updater-script" file to the one required (link to download required file just over there)
- Copy and paste the CM11 + gapps zip to your SD card (just place it to sd, do not make it in any folder to retrieve it faster)
- Turn you phone on (or reboot it) and press many times the Vol + and Vol - at the booting sony screen to go on recovery mode
- Navigate into the menu and choose Wipe cache/data (if you forget to do a wipe, you just can forget to install the ROM)
- Then;
install zip from sdcard >> choose zip from sdcard >> (select ROM .zip) >> Yes
install zip from sdcard >> choose zip from sdcard >> (select GAPPS .zip ) >> Yes
Now, you just have to wait untill finish and choose reboot now
BUGLIST:
No NFC
Not really listed as bug but I find the audio power a bit lowered compared to Stock
Time of the phone battery charge (from 0 to 100%) a bit longer (it can depend on which usb you use too, maybe not a bug)
Camera, audio and every other sony related things are 100% WORKING
I will not help you if you occurs any type of errors, I installed this ROM and its working, If you don't know how to... just go ahead
Thanks and credits to:
FXP team for the ROM
Moiremoi for the modified updater script which is making the rom working and tutorial (on another website)
Myself for testing, editing and for screenshots.
(If I forgot someone please tell it to me through MP)
Have fun and enjoy your new CM11 ROM !
Regards,
Exerath

Well, this changes many...
So the error was only in updater-script?? How? I see you added these lines, but they shouldn't take any effect.
Code:
getprop("ro.product.device") == "leo" ||
getprop("ro.build.product") == "leo" ||
In build.prop on D2203, there isn't ANY ro.product.device value
When there is a bad value, updater-script stops installing, but when there isn't any value, it fallsback (assumes a virtual value) to leo, am I right?
Why the hell is just our device so different , we don't even have last_kmsg where it is supposed to be

I seen that you did a lot of great work for the E3, now I am just curious to know if you (or someone else reading this) can make the volume of CM11 a bit louder (aka stronger)
I reflashed stock 4.4.2 with Viper4Android on my E3 and the sound is drastically higher as with CM11+Viper4Android (On 4.4.4 xLoud is missing too, idk why, I tought it were a stock official firmware ??)
I checked every setting about sound but I don't see any error, could it be the sony XLoud thing (absent on CM11) which could make this issue with lower powered sound?
Searching on Google to ''install or flash xLoud" but no hope atm, I found nothing working (a lot of error flashing .zip but none working) :/

This is known on almost all devices. The volume is always lower on AOSP ROMs than on stock. Xloud isn't easy to add, only very good themers are able to include it. You have to understand Xloud is proprietary and not open-sourced.
Trust me, it was truly a shock, when I heard silent speakers of my old LWW with CM just installed

Volume was higher with cm 10 on my xperia J as on Stock, on AOSP we have the possibility to disable audio security imposed from governments, on stock not, that's why I asked

FAQ
I don't like the concept of dual recoveries, is there any way i can have either one?
Yes, for
CWM standalone use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2276943
TWRP : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2505502
Is this compatible with jjm34's CM10?
Yes it is, is has been specially compiled in order to be compatible with the recovery used in jjm34's CM10 recovery.
Is this compatible on Xperia E single sim?
I have not tested it out on C1504/5 since I do not own that device, however you may install this at your own risk.
Is this compatible on ICS?
Once again I have not tested it out, the kernel used is the default JB kernel.

If you install CWM recovery/this recovery, only booting into recovery will work, but the normal system startup will result in bootloops.
So i flash this only if you need to go back to your STOCK backup and don't need to run CM for the time being.

If root method, i'm use VRoot, i work well
I already test it on Xperia L, Live with Walkman, Xperia E Dual, Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000, and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0
But you must disable superuser ( it like SuperSU ) on Apps > All to replace SuperSU.
Remember let that superuser allow SuperSU to update binary and after that you disable superuser, not SuperSU.
After disable superuser, go to SuperSu, find install to /system, and yeah SuperSu work properly
*after allow SuperSU, install binary, dont press yes on delete other superuser cause different model cause bootloop
P/s : sorry if im out of topic, just want share this method, it easy
Good Luck! Sorry my english Bad

The ROM is currently in Alpha stage, it suggested that you charge to battery to over 50% and have a backup of your data before flashing this release
Install stock Jellybean firmware (11.3.A.2.1) since the ROM is based off that and hence requires those baseband firmwares.
Boot into recovery.
If you do not possess any recovery, check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2505811
Flash the cm-nanhu_ds-ota-{version}.zip
Do a factory reset (data/cache)
(Optional) Flash Google Apps for 10.0.x from here http://goo.im/gapps
Reboot
Initial start up might take a while since the system might be caching up resources
GPL Compliance

Issues
Video Encoding Not Working
NOTE : Since this is a community project, it is requested that you report any issue you may find along with logcat/dmesg/last_kmsg logs
Error Reporting
Send a logcat of the phone while rebooting/while the error occurs

Troubleshooting/FAQ
Video playback does not seem to work!
Upgrade to v1.0.1 or higher!
My phone seems to be overheating quite quickly!
This maybe due to the overclock feature and intensive usage, you can reduce the clock speed to improve stability!
Go to Settings -> Perfomance -> Processor -> Max CPU Frequency
Chose any of the given frequencies between 1008 MHz to 1305 MHz (1008 MHz is stock max frequency)
Change the governor to OnDemand/Powersave or Conservative
Does this work on Xperia E Single Sim?
Yes, it has been found to be stable with any major issues as of now!

Flashed it..
The over clock is cool
No network and charging bug till now
The camera Fc when recording video.
The video playback wasn't working but the disable hw option helped..
Titanium backup shows error with root.
Viper audio engine asks to install drivers every time I open it(might be a conflict with DSP).
And the battery percentage is very weird.. it shows a large drop in a few minutes and then the level goes higher again ( would try a recaliberation tomorrow)
The ROM is fluid smooth. and the overclocking is stable..
Will tell you more soon..
Anyway the kernel is good..
Can i use this deodex zip files from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2444015 to this rom or u do have the deodex version???

There is some issue with hardware encoding which causes both the issues, there is some issue with memory management and encoding.
I'm looking into it.

It's an issue i have experienced in the stock ROM also since ICS builds, it shows a large drop during heavy usage and then rises when idle.
Might be a battery sensor module issue, not sure though, but i doubt it's a bug with the ROM, maybe an issue with the kernel.

This ROM is different from the version that is deodexed, you have to manually deodex this ROM.
Deodexing is recommended if you wish to modify the ROM, otherwise odexed ROMs have better performance in general

OP modified with instructions for GApps

[GUIDE][XESS/XED]Install CM10 with stable baseband(SIM detected). *Updated*

Hi,
I decided to update this thread with separate E/E dual links, plus some extra instructions
You'll need an unlocked bootloader for this action. Unlocking the bootloader will result in warranty loss. I will not be held responsible for anything that may or may not happen to your device.
What is the point of this thread? Well, this thread offers you a CM10 for our E with the baseband uknown(SIM not recognized issue) that randomly occurs after a couple reboots(some people like me get it in 3 days, others have never got it).
This CM10 was an update by @jjm34 (OTA 1.1.0). Member @Johnt880 discovered that this update brings a stable baseband. All credits go to him! I merely created E single and E dual versions and Deodexed them! I also replaced the boot.img with @UltraGamerHD his Hades kernel, so you'll get 1,5 gHz OC and some other stuff.
The bugs of this CM10 are:
-Magnetomet not working(no automatic landscape/portrait)
-Video recording doesn't work.
-Video playback doesn't work(no YouTube)
-Bluetooth acts strange(it connects, but refuses to exchange any kind of media)
As you can see that's pretty bearable.
Installation instructions:
1. Download the appropiate ROM for your device. Choose the Odexed or the Deodexed version(easier modding).
2. Download the Gapps(contains Play Store, so pretty important)
3. Place the 2 .zips on your SD card(internal or external, doesn't matter)
4. Flash the boot.img inside the ROM.zip. You can use Flashtool or the Android SDK.
5. Boot into your preferred recovery(TWRP is the most convenient). Blue LED=TWRP. Green LED=CWM.
7. When using TWRP: Wipe cache, dalvik-cache, data and system under ''Wipe'', ''Advanced wipe''
When using CWM: Wipe data(hard reset), wipe dalvik-cache(under ''advanced'') and format system
8. Install zip from SD card>CM10ROM.zip
9. When it's done, install zip from SD card>gapps.zip
10. Reboot system, insert PIN and enjoy your SIM recognized CM10
Little advice: CM10 doesn't give you the option to switch between Wi-Fi and 3G like stock does. So when you insert your G-mail and password, it will use precious data to establish a connection. If this is something you don't want to, just skip the G-mail, skip the creation of a G-mail, and go to ''Settings''>''More''>''Mobile Networks'' and uncheck the data. Now you can enable Wi-Fi and open the Play Store. You will have to insert a G-mail and now you can since you have a wi-fi connection

No! It's an update released by jjm34! It's not a standalone ROM! Check the size.
You can flash this when the SIM bug occurs!
What I meant is that I forgot to add hsr0's kernel in the zip!
Hope that's clear.

To be absolutely sure(sorry..)
jjm34 and hsr0 both built a CM10 ROM.
We discovered that jjm34's ROM+hsr0's kernel s the most stable for the E single.
BUT on jjm34 his sourceforge page for the E single is an update of 150 mb.
Now, when you are on jjm34 his ROM and hsr0 his kernel, you may experience the SIM bug.
Flashing the update will solve this. When it happens again, just flash the update.
Note: remove the apks in the update that you deleted in the base ROM. Otherwise you will get those apps again. Also, when you modify anything you have to add the files to the update too! Otherwise the system wll be overwritten with stock CM10 and your mods will disappear.
Hope that it's now completely clear! Correct download links will be up in 10 minutes.

I am sorry for misleading anyone , I just never thought of testing the video,I tested camera and panoramic as they worked. I assumed the video would too
Anyway keep up the good work Many thanks
Wait.. camera and panaroma? Those work, it's only video recording.
@Johnt880 No problems, you are now in my list of people whom I like a lot! By a lot, I mean I'd be star-struck if I met you.
Thank you very much
Is this the full rom?? 155mb? thats a big size for a baseband fix....if its a full rom...this should be advertised as the new cm10 rom for E

just a gsm fix dude.....
before, if you get this bug you had to flash stock ftf again & then cm10 @MatsPunt someone said flashing xboost (rom only) also fixes the problem..
I had no problems with GSM on CM10 !
1 . Flash Jjm32 Kernel
2 . Go to Recorvery and Wipe data / factory reset
3 . Flash Jjm34 Rom + Gapps
4 . Power Off device
5 . Flash Kernel Hsr0
GSM and battery percentage works perfectly on my Xperia E C1505

good work arcatarc.will try it soon.is it a light or a full version? which one you consider to be more battery friendly between supperleggera and this one?
DTS KO
I think that there is some problem with the music listening.
Every 30 second you can hear just only noise.
I tried also omich that gives you the possibility to play with DTS, but without result.
Any chance to fix it?

You can try it but I doubt it will work well, they are too different...about MIUmI tomorrow I will release the new version..
After three days I see:
Problem with email (gmail) notification the ringtone doesn't work in the right way.
Battery drain is little bit worst than 3.09 with 1.7Ghz kernel, but accetable.
In the weather widget I'm not able to setup my location. I installed another widget.
For all the rest the rom seems to work well.
Edit
I had two reboot. Normally I don't have it.
after a few hours the middle capacitive button stopped working....what can i do now? i dont think its hardware related because when i touch it it lights up normally but no function...
EDIT: I reflashed the rom and button is working again. i think that battery is a bit worse than superleggera, but i have not calibrated battery for this rom so maybe this is the reason..
