[Idea] Xperia Play gamepad/touchpad emulator? - Android Apps and Games

Well i just had a thought, a thought maybe all it is as i don't have the knowledge to execute on this idea but.
well my favorite phone back in the day was the xperia play. i loved it built in gamepad while keeping the design small. i loved even more that game and app developers would build around its design implementing support for its gamepad.
but i cant keep the xperia play forever so i got the xperia Z which i love but i still find gaming a bit bulky and artificial. i have a moga pocket. one of the smallest gamepads i know of and I'm still getting use to it but the controls are not perfect axis wise.
so not only for the moga pocket but for any android gamepad in general, making our modern gamepads emulate the xperia plays whole gamepad & touchpads will allow a more native gaming experience. less manual setup and more accurate axis.
just my 2 cents..

play xperia optimized games on normal android phone with bluetooth keyboard?

I saw NOVA 2 for xperia play and you can play using xperia play gamepad... question is there a way (maybe needs development) to play it on normal android phone e.g. htc desire and map some buttons on physical keys like on a bluetooth keyboard or even desire's physical keys!?? Would be useful for non fully multitouch phones like desire, x10, hd2, etc...
sounds like this needs dev to achieve... just putting up the idea.. you think it wud be possible? that would be awesome imo
great idea^^ If it would work with keyboard mode it would also work with special Gamepads like the iControlPad for example. Thats a fully working bluetooth gamepad that has all the buttons an xperia play has.
It is definitely possible but I'm not sure if anyone has done it yet. I'll look into it, sounds like a great idea.
i think it's possible too.. i have tried "i must run" and "soccer superstars", both games optimized for xperia play.. and i can use the optical trackpad to move and jump in "i must run") and pass in "soccer superstars".. so i think with a gamepad i should be possible to use the gamepad buttons but probably analog will not work...
i am on htc sense, i can't test my wiimote.. if someone can test soccer superstars with a wiimote on desire, it would be great
ok lol as noone seems to be willing to try with a wiimote, i flashed a cyanogenmod 7 rom on my desire. I have tried only with one game: soccer superstars and i can confirm that i can play the whole game with wiimote. I can move with wiimote's d-pad and use the three keys A(pass), B(shoot) and S (super shoot) by mapping the keys properly on the wiimote. Might try other games but not much time atm

Painkiller: Purgatory

Found this and wanted to share... looks awesome. It doesnt appear to be Xperia PLAY optimized but I have contacted the developer Machineworks Northwest LLC, will et ya'll know if i here anything back and I do hope they add support for our devices game controls and Games laucmher.. I told them I would buy the game in a heartbeat if they made this happen.....

I cannot believe ! Best Polish FPS on Android ??? Wow. I playd in this game years ago and i can say - I like it much more then any quake game (except quake 1). Famtastic news and I wait for replay from developer .
Just got this and playing it on my Xperia S for now. But will be really nice with Play controls as very good looking and only small size 30mb. Runs better then the Quake or Doom port's Nice find!!
This would be amazing to play with Xperia PLAY's controls.
The 30MB is also extremely modest. Gameloft needs to take notes from that.
It somewhat works with our controls, I can move with the d-pad. I use the touchscreen for aiming and firing, but good god, this is one boring game. So dissapointing....

[Speculation] Possibly getting Final Fantasy III optimized for physical gamepads?

I'm sure I don't need to get anyone here up to speed on the OUYA, but one thing that does strike up interest is their partnership with Square-Enix. Ouya being a physical controller dominated consolve means that Square-Enix support is bound to upgrade their games with that all-important precision of controller-based input.
Touch input on RPGs is fairly acceptable, but what I've noticed in games like Eternal Legacy and Symphony of the Eternity is that; while touch input seems like it'd be better than gamepad input for RPGs, it's actually much slower, and much less precise.
At any rate, do you think Square-Enix being in bed with Ouya means Final Fantasy III will get native controller support in an update? I'm thinking that we may get some inadvertent Xperia Play gamepad support just from that!
Unfortunately though it seems like the API for controller support on ICS is different than what the Xperia play controls need to work. Hence why dead trigger for example needed additional work to be xplay optimized. I wouldn't hold my breath.
I agree with Rogue Leader. Many games have ICS gamepad support without Xperia Play game-pad support and I can't imagine supporting one controller medium will necessarily lead to supporting another. There is a ray of hope shining in from a different direction, Lara Croft was made by Square-Enix and features gamepad support so the company does have experience with the code and could implement it based on that if they feel that implementation will boost their sales.

Only the touchpad. The play uses the same hardware keys as a native controller except that X (D-Pad center) = Button A and circle (back) = button b. So this could be rectified with gamekeyboard remapper. This is the reason there was no ics for xperia play as Sony could not match touchpad (Sony framework code) to android 3.1+ native controller code. Thus making some games broken as seen in Sony's ics beta Rom.
As for FF I can't see that touchpad/ analogs would be needed so there is a good chance most buttons would work

The Conduit on Xperia Play - Partially Optimized

Just tried The Conduit HD for Xperia Play. I found that it's partially Optimized. Could we expect a complete optimization when it'll come out? Who knows...

Hate to be a downer, but it's only working because the Xperia Play shares some of the same button bindings as bluetooth controllers, not because of any kind of optimization, partial or otherwise. Maybe in 6 months when it's no longer Tegra 3 exclusive they may do that, but our phones are old enough as it is.
Now what would be nice is if someone developed an app that allows the Plays touchpads to emulate bluetooth controller analog sticks rather than the cumbersome setup with gamekeyboard, which is great but not ideal.

If emailed gamekeyboard dev I would of thought he could enable this option as he already has (touchscreen to Bluetooth controller natively with analog input) but would still mean you would need ICS or above.

Adding Native Touchpad support to PPSSPP Emulator

Ok so ppsspp is open source and lacking one major feature, Touchpads support.
as you know the xperia play has 99.9% or the original psp buttons (in my opinion it has 101% not one but 2 analogs)
and with some of the resent updates of PPssPP you can play psp games pretty well on xperia play now. i was able to comfortably play a match of Gods eater burst on my xperia play with not to much lag, and thats a modern 3d psp game but i had to play with one thumb on the screen, my index finger on the L button, right index finger on r and right thumb on Triangle, Circle, Cross, Square. Not to comfortably but playable. now it would be just spectacular if i could use left touchpad for psp analog and right touchpad for another dpad
so sense for whatever reason the official devs for ppsspp is ignoring this long standing issue maybe ill give it a shot of decompiling and adding the support codes. Me knowing No Linux ability trying to add this seems absurd. but if someone would help be, partner up and together we may try this. i have no money to give you but you will earn Fame knowing that you made psp more human on xperia play!:good:
i dont have much to go guide wise but these
