I saw NOVA 2 for xperia play and you can play using xperia play gamepad... question is there a way (maybe needs development) to play it on normal android phone e.g. htc desire and map some buttons on physical keys like on a bluetooth keyboard or even desire's physical keys!?? Would be useful for non fully multitouch phones like desire, x10, hd2, etc...
sounds like this needs dev to achieve... just putting up the idea.. you think it wud be possible? that would be awesome imo
great idea^^ If it would work with keyboard mode it would also work with special Gamepads like the iControlPad for example. Thats a fully working bluetooth gamepad that has all the buttons an xperia play has.
It is definitely possible but I'm not sure if anyone has done it yet. I'll look into it, sounds like a great idea.
i think it's possible too.. i have tried "i must run" and "soccer superstars", both games optimized for xperia play.. and i can use the optical trackpad to move and jump in "i must run") and pass in "soccer superstars".. so i think with a gamepad i should be possible to use the gamepad buttons but probably analog will not work...
i am on htc sense, i can't test my wiimote.. if someone can test soccer superstars with a wiimote on desire, it would be great
ok lol as noone seems to be willing to try with a wiimote, i flashed a cyanogenmod 7 rom on my desire. I have tried only with one game: soccer superstars and i can confirm that i can play the whole game with wiimote. I can move with wiimote's d-pad and use the three keys A(pass), B(shoot) and S (super shoot) by mapping the keys properly on the wiimote. Might try other games but not much time atm

hi all,
i have spent hours scouring the forums ranging from the classy htc diamond ( which i loved btw) to the experia x1 (which is also cool) trying to find a good emulator for nes/snes games which support touchscreen, wvga, and the tg01's lack of hard buttons.
if anyone has any ideas or links or anything so we can all get a great emu working for the 1ghz hand sized tv screen then brilliant.
****************************************
dont think im being a console-ist by only asking for nes/snes but the idea of playing ps1 games on this beast with no hard buttons doesnt exactly thrill me to bits, but if you want to share your findings with everyone then feel free

Play Station Emulator good? ^_^
There you go:
http://www.fpsece.net/
Just Google:
PSX /PS1 ISOs to get the games =)
Link for videos:

morphgear is best snes emu but like you say with no buttons or multitouch emus are only really good for rpgs which is fine for me, fpsece is best emu out.
i would have thought we would have fullspeed/sound snes considering you can for psx but you cant.
neway if you get morphgear for hd2 and dreeds mulitouchpad for the best experience for snes, and you have to use the virtual mouse thing (slide finger up over strip bit on tg01) to be able to click on the settings
I guess what we really need is a touchscreen hook that will capture slide events and fire the appropriate cursor keys whilst in specific apps. Is there anything like that already?
wel i had a think about it and we need to make a touch screen keyboard with the typical up, down, left, rihtt and a,b,c buttons and map them to keys such as the wasd configuration. we could invoke the keyboad to pop up with a reg key or something to piggyback on the emu to rocess.
im not a programmer so i have no idea how to make this happen but will help with graphics if anone wants to try.

unless i am misunderstanding what you mean then this is already programed into fpsece and morphgear (using dreeds pad).
eg press circle button and slide finger up = up and circle.
i cant see and better improvements to fake multitouch happening, sorry if ive misunderstood u tho
if this pic come sup then brilliant, this is what i would like personally.
a proper nes pad layout linked to the virtual keypad so i can play pokemon games and such ( please dont mug off pokemon games, for a turn based rpg its pretty good)
there must be a way to link this to an emu
i am willing to help anyone with anything they need to make this work
also....
on a side note, any way to speed up the screen rotation, from what i understand, the os asks the g-sensor what state its in then adjusts accordingly. where as on other phones the g-sensor tells the os what its doing. can we speed up the refresh on this or is it a no go for now?
Just wondering if anyone has got mario rpg on the snes working via morphgear on there phone. For me i can either crash after the opening screens, where u press start to start game, or after a little bit into the game. When it does work it takes about 5 sec's to load each battle, frustrating.
Can i play games FPSCE with this device?

@above not sure but you can just use a dualshock 3
So yesterday I downloaded Nesoid and a handful of ROMs for my Captivate. I had some fun playing them, but using the on screen virtual keyboard was really hard and it covered most of the gaming action. So I see that the new psx4droid supports wiimote. So I emailed the developer of Nesoid and suggested that he add that capability to his too and that other than that its a great emulator. He emailed back and this is his response
You can use other apps on the Market. But please enable input method in Nesoid settings.

What does this actually mean? Is there another app that I have to download and install first to get the wiimote to connect to my phone via bluetooth?
I dont have a wiimote yet, and before I go buy one, I'd like to know exactly how it works, if it will.
Search for "Wiimote controller" on the market, should work.
You can use a few bluetooth gamepads with android. One being
MSI Bluetooth Gamepad (BGP-100) which is a weird kinda swivel thing. I am going to gut a SNES controller and put the BGP-100 into it. It has been done before and everything seems to fit fine.
There is also another bluetooth controller made for blackberry's that works with android. It is vertical gamepad with a trigger control. Seems pretty nice.
I think you have to buy a market app to get the drivers to make the above 2 gamepads work.
Also as mentioned you can use a wiiremote as a gamepad for android. I have been looking for a wii classic controller + wii combo, so it does not have to be tethered to a normal wii controller to work. I want small and portable bluetooth with a dfecent amount of buttons that is why I am going with the SNES form factor.

Free, although it does say there isn't galaxy s support....so it might not work.
wiimotes currently do not work on the SGS phones because of the bt3.0. not sure on the other BT controllers
Are there any controllers that can be plugged in? Just wondering for flights...
Well I emailed the developer of Wiimote Controller and asked if they could update to support Galaxy S phones. This is there response:
Hello,
thank you for your feedback.
I don't think this will be possible with the current way Samsung's software is handling bluetooth.
Best regards,
Piki

Doesnt sound good for us getting to use a wiimote as a gamepad
Trying to play Nesoid with onscreen vitrual controller sucks, its too hard and I'm afraid of breaking my phone. Every time I get into the game and start tapping A or B rapidly I can feel it flex and creak in my hands.
Just wondering in anybody has made progress on getting a bluetooth controller for the captivate/galaxy s?
Ive been looking into it...and came to a bunch of dead ends aswell :sigh:

Speaking of games...
I wasn't able to find any in the market but I'm rooted so I know I can find games from other sources.
Are there any games like Alone in the Dark (horror genre) or fantasy role playing that would have the same type of graphics you'd see in WoW that I can put on my Captivate?
Just parted ways with my E72, and I couldn't live without my SNES emulator. Anyone know of one for the x10?
Just search "snes", "genesis", nes", "gameboy" etc. on the market.
They're there.
But for the x10 there won't be much fun tho: No multitouch: not able to control anything, as most emulators relies on the underlying driver written for multitouch.

You can map the hardware buttons. Every game I've tried so far is completely playable. From obvious reasons I have not tried any fighting games. But for example Super Metroid is very enjoyable to play with the hardware buttons mapped accordingly.
I even made a video when I got my x10 (prolly my second time playing this on my phone so excuse the sloppiness) :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4F7zMIA7u8
So you can see there that it's really not a problem playing emulator games with your x10. Actually I think it's even better than most android phones because of the hardware buttons placed so conveniently.
I'm sure I don't need to get anyone here up to speed on the OUYA, but one thing that does strike up interest is their partnership with Square-Enix. Ouya being a physical controller dominated consolve means that Square-Enix support is bound to upgrade their games with that all-important precision of controller-based input.
Touch input on RPGs is fairly acceptable, but what I've noticed in games like Eternal Legacy and Symphony of the Eternity is that; while touch input seems like it'd be better than gamepad input for RPGs, it's actually much slower, and much less precise.
At any rate, do you think Square-Enix being in bed with Ouya means Final Fantasy III will get native controller support in an update? I'm thinking that we may get some inadvertent Xperia Play gamepad support just from that!
Unfortunately though it seems like the API for controller support on ICS is different than what the Xperia play controls need to work. Hence why dead trigger for example needed additional work to be xplay optimized. I wouldn't hold my breath.
I agree with Rogue Leader. Many games have ICS gamepad support without Xperia Play game-pad support and I can't imagine supporting one controller medium will necessarily lead to supporting another. There is a ray of hope shining in from a different direction, Lara Croft was made by Square-Enix and features gamepad support so the company does have experience with the code and could implement it based on that if they feel that implementation will boost their sales.

Only the touchpad. The play uses the same hardware keys as a native controller except that X (D-Pad center) = Button A and circle (back) = button b. So this could be rectified with gamekeyboard remapper. This is the reason there was no ics for xperia play as Sony could not match touchpad (Sony framework code) to android 3.1+ native controller code. Thus making some games broken as seen in Sony's ics beta Rom.
As for FF I can't see that touchpad/ analogs would be needed so there is a good chance most buttons would work

I've got an Archos Gamepad 2 ... Got a problem with some games as they auto find and configure on the controller's buttons (asphalt 8 and Impulsion)
Asphalt mapping is cool, but impulsion doesn't show the on screen controls so that i can re-map them and the only pre-mapped working control is the left analog for movement... no shoot/slash control mapped by default ...
Is there a way to disable the built in controller ??? or a tool to fake the games that there is no controller attached
And if there is a way to disable the controller will the on screen controls appear
this seems to be a common issue with android devices that has built in controller (Xperia Play - Archos Gamepad 2 - jxd s7800b)
Thanks in advance
game list update
Asphalt 8 airborne
Impulsion
Neon Shadow
Shadowgun
Modern Combat 4
same issue
Sorry to revive this thread but I have the same question as the op and I have the same problem with the game Implosion in my archos gamepad 2, any solutions? op did you find an answer?
The same happens with the amazing spiderman 2 game, please any solutions guys?
Have the same problem again in the lego game complete saga for android, please help. I hate when games don't give you the option to enable touch screen controls even if it detects a gamepad.
Hey I rooted my device, any way to alter the games files so that they don't detect the archos gamepad 2 as an external controller?
so no one dev knows?
Tried Tincore Keymapper to simulate other external controllers, but the game implosion still does not work, so how do these games detect the archos gamepad input?
Implosion was updated recently, I think they tried to add support for the archos gamepad 2 because the tutorial screen now shows controller buttons but the game still has the same issue, only the left stick works, maybe it is because the archos built in controller is 2 different devices, the buttons are joy_key and the sticks are joystick.
I am root, any files I can delete to disable the built in controller?
Bump still no solution any ideas?
its no use ... ditch it
@Talos91 ... seems nobody is interested ... i really regret the tablet now ... anyways its ditched somewhere in my backpack and every now and then i recharge it when i need it, some casual touch games are on it ... its jelly beans and CANNOT be updated to any new version ... guess thats it for Archos gamepad2 ... or maybe for Archos itself ... not gonna buy any of their products again ... doesnt worth it
Sorry to hear that but the tablet is still great for emulators, they work great like retroarch, drastic, epsxe and ppsspp. Also some fire tv games work on the archos like shovel knight and not to mention the good android games with no iaps work great too like ittle dew and wayward souls.
In sys/devices/platform/joystick are the files of the analog input, maybe if you erase those file implosion could work.
You can not delete or rename those files even with root for some reason.

Anyone else with a archos gamepad 2
Is there any way to disable system input devices?
Any help? Is there any way to merge the two input devices into one? Merge the "joystick" and "joy_key"
