[Q] Bricked or semibricked Asus TF700T !?! - Asus Transformer TF700

Hi to everybody,
I am new to this forum so I hope sobebody could help me with my problem with Asus TF700T tablet.
My Asus TF700T tablet is American version with firmware US_epad-10.6.1.14.10 and while ago my tablet stuck in
bootloop at the asus logo with spining dots and does not go further.
I did download stock firmware from ASUS site and did try to recover original firmware but it didnt work ( I got an android with a rotating geometric figure and after a minute or two I get a picture of lying android with exclamation mark)
I did try to rename and unzip stock firmware to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip and put it on my external sd card and try recovery mode (RCK) and it didnt work.
I can conect my tablet to my pc with minimal ADB and FASTBOOT program and I get alfanumeric string when I type Fastboot devices...
I should mention that the tablet does not have unlocked bootloader
So I hope that someone can help me and explain step by step how to unlock the bootloader and install any stock or custom firmware with Fastboot...
I also have to mention that I dont have any nvflash files from my tablet or anything else.....
So you guys do you have any idea with my problem?
Can I somehow downgrade firmware to earlier version or something and install stock firmware?!

You have to make sure that the sdcard is formatted FAT32 <-- I would do this even if it is already
Also there can not be anything else on the sdcard except the zip file that you renamed ....
You did unzip this zip you got from Asus ONE TIME and the zip that comes out is the one you are renaming ?
Thx Josh

Yes I did that, full format fat 32 the card and then I did copy firmware on it and rename it to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip and when I restart tablet ( yes I did unzip only once)
it starts to update tablet it shows android with a rotating geometric figure and after a minute or two tablet restarts and start to boot but it stuck at the asus logo with spining dots and does not go further
Do you have another idea what to do?
Thnanks for your advice....

With a locked bootloader that's about what you can do....
You do have file extensions showing in Windows Explorer, right? Not that you named the file ...SDUPDATE.zip.zip
Should work if the download was good....

It starts to copy sistem files from sd card and restarts, after that it stuck at the Shiny ASUS logo and start speening the dots
Any other idea?

Restart to the bootloader, choose "wipe data". Let the recovery wipe data, then it should boot like new out of the box.

Shouldn't have done that. You cannot downgrade with a locked bootloader....
Your options are extremely limited:
Wipe data from the bootloader
Flash the existing firmware in stock recovery
The reason the latter may fail are:
firmware file got corrupted during download or unzipping
you renamed it incorrectly
microSD is bad or has the wrong file format
If you eliminated all of the above and it still doesn't work sending it in to Asus is your last option - or replace the motherboard yourself.
Sorry....

AFAIK you can downgrade all the way down to 9.4.5.30. However you must wipe data when you downgrade by a major version.
I have no idea what to do if it still doesn't boot after installing a new firmware and wiping data.

Bootloop - TF101G please help

Hi,
i tried to unroot my TF101G with method posted here and it ended with bootloop. I made all steps of instruction (I used Eee Pad Transformer TF101G Firmware: V8.6.6.23 from this site).
I tried wipe data as well. Could anyone please tell me what to do?
Sorry for my English.
You know you're probably the 2nd person I've seen this week with this problems after following that exact thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1507322
All you can do at this point is try to put the latest TF101G firmware on your sd card, boot into stock recovery and see if it will flash it.
you mean holding vol down button and then up?
I tried, there is process bar, and then android image with ! sign in it :/

Did you extract the files out of that zip after download?
I think there's an Asus folder than an Update folder after that there's a zip folder inside that. That's the file need to be on the sd card.
tried both in folders and with WW_epad-user-8.6.6.23.zip on root of sd card, neither of those worked .
Any hope Asus service would fix it and won't find out I messed it?
They can void my warranty, I just want my tablet working .
edit:
I fixed it thanks to rayman84 and his Nvflash unbricking tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123429)
I was so scared

same problem, but if I start download.bat (Nvflash), the device just disconnects and the bat window collapses. What to do?
Solved
1)Enter recovery
2)connect to PC and install adb driver
3)use "adb push" command to copy a firmware file to PDA
4)install the firmware in recovery
P.s. it's important to update the recovery first of all
Congrats!

[REQ] Tutorial to backup to original firmware

hello i'm trying to original firmware (the last one i can find) but i can't do it with adb or custom recovery maybe i 'm too stupid or french ^^
but if someone can make a thin tutorial , then i can send my tablet to Acer for the screen issue (not solved by the tricks of parameter)
thank a lot
@Amidamaru87,
If you already have CWM installed then it's very easy.
1- Take the original (base) firmware, not the last one. Very likely the last one is not a complete firmware but an update to the original one.
2- Take the update.zip file and unzip it to a folder.
3- Go to folder "\META-INF\com\google\android"
4- Edit the updater-script and put a # as first character of first line. This will avoid this line to execute: #assert(getprop("ro.product.name") == "a510_...");
5- Zip all files again and name it update.zip.
6- Flash it with CWM.
7- When asked to avoid bootloader installation say "NO". This will restore the original bootloader and lock it again. You will not have CWM any more but I think this is what you want right?
That's all.
From this point on you are at factory state. If you connect to internet very likely Acer will send you an OTA update but it's up to you to install it.
Regards.
fast , accurate ! thanks a lot
but i have only image ...
Download from The official Acer site:

I tried to get back to factory state , but i got an "instalation aborted" message every time that i tried
I downloaded the R28.RC02.WW.GEN1 from the site that you linked, unzipped , added "#" character to the first line at the update script file, rezipped and renamed to update.zip
I also copied the file to ext sd and internal sd
I'm currently at franken a700 with nothrills recovery
@ursur,
I would recommend:
- Unzip and zip with another application. Some times wthis could be a problem.
- Edit the script with a linux compatible editor like Notepad++, freeware, google it. Avoid Wordpad or other editors that insert line feeds of CR.
It works for me using internal or external SD.
Regards.
One Hint:
8- When CWM asked to avoid root say "NO".

What does it mean 'flash with cwm'?
IS it this command : fastboot flash recovery update.zip?
Sorry for stupid question.
Recovery verified failed
Hey guys,
i installed a stockrom from acer with your instructions and it was completly done. I had Nothrills 700 Franken before.
i just answerd this question : When asked to avoid bootloader installation say "NO". This will restore the original bootloader and lock it again. You will not have CWM any more but I think this is what you want right? with YES because i wanted to keep cwm.
The tablet restarted normaly and when setting up acer told me that there is a update so i did the update.
Now the tablet restarted and i get the message : booting recovery kernel imag
and in the second line: Recovery verified fail...
in the middle of the screen you can see the acer logo.
WHAT CAN I DO NOW??? I can't reboot the tablet. Holding the power button get no impact. Shoud i wait till the battery is empyt and then?
I read smthg about fastboot and get a stock recovery. Is that a possibility? if yes, who will give me an instructions what i have to do.
Thx for your help.
But at the Moment i'm very desperate
P.S. Sorry for my bad english

Ok, about 2 months ago, I flashed to a Nothrills ROM and all. Then, I wanted to go back fully stock, and I did the same as you mentioned above.
Today, I tried updating my tab OTA and I am getting "Recovery verified failed..." error. Nothing that I can do. Mind you, I was on stock ROM and all, just that I was rooted.
Thanks.

Tutorial to backup to original firmware on A511
You have a Acer Iconia Tab A511 with e.g. A510 (Custom-)ROM without 2G/3G and you can not install the A511 firmware, cause Status 7 or Status 4 errors?
Deleting the line in the install script with the name of the device doesn't work? Using an other editor and 7zip for repacking is not the solution?
try this way

[Guide]Flash TF300T Rom manually on Locked Bootloader ON JB 4.2.1 !!

Dear all users of TF300T.
If you are using Stock ROM (Rooted/Non Rooted) and are bricked or stuck on ASUS boot screen. Then this guide is for you.
As i was using stock ROM (ROOTED) with Locked boot loader without custom recovery and my tf300t was Sofbricked due to wrong configurations at Display Pixel scaling and also reformat did not work for me.!
So i thought to create this guide which may help people out here It worked for me Try your LUCK.
Sorry if i am re posting i did not got any guides out here...
If this helped you please give me a Thumbs up.!
Steps:-
1 Download the latest ROM from ASUS website Which matches your SKU.(Important).
It would look somehing like this (TF300T-TW_epad-10_6_1_15_3-UpdateLauncher . zip)
2 Extract it and rename that file to ( EP201_768_SDUPDATE . zip )
3 Now copy this new renamed file to SDCARD (Root of sd card).
4 Now Press and hold Volume Down + Power for a few seconds. Then you will see the ASUS recovery options.
5 Now Press the 1 option from the left (RCK) by pressing Vol+ 2 times and let it flash the ROM from scratch.
WARNING:- You will loose all data in the internal space!
Now wait for a few minutes. It will flash the ROM.
And wola! Your TF300T will again work fine!!
Any suggestions and comments are most welcomed!

What problem exactly are you facing?? Can you boot into android??
Do u have CWM recovery or TWRP??
Did u follow all steps?? r u using the same SKU as u r tablet??
The problem I am facing is that I do not have a recovery working. I cannot access recovery at all. I was trying to update the tablet by downloading the official firmware and placing it on the root of the sdcard. But it wont recognize the update when in Android. (I can boot into Android.)
HI
I think then try to re flash your recovery first using fast bot method...then try this guide again..
or the last option is send to ASUS..:silly::silly::silly:
Is this method work with every firmware, and is it work on me301t?

Similar problem 300t does'nt go past the asus startup screen, when i tried to do a wipe and restore it just goes back to the asus load screen (with spinning circle)and sits and spins, so then I tried reinstalling from micro sd card using the trick where u rename the file to EP201 after trying to reinstall the newest version and an earlier version from the microsd and got the dead android (same results for both )and when I use recovery I get the android guy and loading bar and he fall over dead with error, but when turning it back on, everything goes back to the stuck loading screen. If you connect the tablet to a pc it says usb driver install failed and if you try to force driver install through device manager, the driver install completes but then says the device cannot start. asus sync does not see it , I want to try to put the ep201 file in the SDCARD folder in the internal sdcard but cannot perform this because the pc cannot see the tablet. any help or suggestions would be appreciated. The un rooted tablet Was running 4.2 just fine before i tried the new ota update 7-29-2013 and thats when this happened , I tried to call Asus, since my warrenty had expired last month they said they would fix it , but it would cost me .....i explained that their update is what made it unusable, but they didnt say anything about that fact. and told me the same .... if you have a idea or have solved the same issue PLEASE post
Thanks

[Q] Attempted CM11 Upgrade Gone Wrong

So I've installed/changed ROMs numerous times but must have slipped up this time.
Attempted to use TWRP to install CM ROM; got an error (can't recall exactly). Used TWRP option to reboot and now I'm stuck in an endless Asus logo loop.
I can get to the 3 icon screen (RCK - Android - Wipe Data).
What are my options at this point?

Well I think I'm hosed..
The tablet drained down to 0% overnight (due to the boot loop). I downloaded your file and transferred it to the microSD card and then plugged in the tablet to charge.
Now when I try to start it up I can't get back to the 3 icon screen just the Asus logo and "The device is unlocked" in the upper corner.

Well it sounds like to me you have more issue than just trying to install a recovery.... The more info you can give me the better chance we can
get you back up and running... Thx lj....
Did you hold down power and volume down while you rebooting? Try this. You wil get the 3 icons

What else do you need? I've tried every key combination to restart and always end up at the same screen

Did you upgrade your recovery to a cm11 compatible one first like it says to in the cm11 thread? Either flash your old Rom back or upgrade your recovery to CWM 6.0.4.6+ or TWRP 2.6.3.2.

Are you holding the buttons long enough?
Hold Power and Volume Down until the tab
vibrates twice. Let go when tiny script appears

I rooted/unlocked the device more than a year ago; didn't right any of that down so no idea.
Last ROM I was using was a CM build.
Never used fastboot or adb (AFAIK) so no idea if I can; never pulled a logcat - is there a process for that somewhere to follow?
UPDATE - it appears I can get into APX mode - PC doesn't find the drivers so that's my next step. Once done what are my options?
No luck on TF700 APX drivers. Windows sees it as "Unknown Device". Found 1 thread on Google that referenced TF700 APX drivers but the file it links to is gone.

[Q] Stock Mini won't boot past splash screen

Hi
I'm trying to fix my Mother-in-law's HTC One Mini.
It suddently went black, and when she tryied to turn it back on, it won't boot past the splashscreen (with the "One" logo) It just freezes there.
I can reboot it by holding the power button for 10+ sec. I can also get into the bootloader.
I tried to go to recovery, there was a red triangle and exclamation mark and no options. (Is this normal if the phone is not hooked up to a computer?)
I have ADB drivers installed for when I was rooting my One X.
I think she was doing a lot of updates from play store when i shut down.
Is there something to do, besides doing a factory reset?
Ok i got some more information.
It turns out that she was doing an OTA update when the phone crashed.
Is there ANY way to get the pictures out of the phone?
#EDIT
Don't know if I ruined everthing... But I installed a custom recovery TWRP, thinking I could mount the internal storage and dump the data to my computer.
In the file explorer in TWRP, the "sdcard" folder i empty.
Did I wipe it when I unlocked the bootloader?

I wan't to try and recover some data from it by pulling a raw dump of the flash memory. Using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...de-internal-memory-data-recovery-yes-t1994705
BUT Before I can do that I need the phone to boot up. What is my best route to getting a working copy of Android into the phone?
Is it possible to push it via ADB? I wan't to write as little to the memory as possible because I'm trying to recover files.
Also afterwards, how do I get her phone back to stock firmware? I have looked at this method, but can't realy figure out it would get me back to EU stock phone.

Hi
I guess even sideloading a rom would overwrite your "sdcard"
No backups?

No backups :-/ She's an average user...
I managed to make a raw dump of the entire flash memory and run data recovery on that. But I didn't get any files. (Only found system files)
Now I want to try and get it back to stock, but for some reason I can't S-OFF the phone.
