[Q] Stock Mini won't boot past splash screen - HTC One Mini

Hi
I'm trying to fix my Mother-in-law's HTC One Mini.
It suddently went black, and when she tryied to turn it back on, it won't boot past the splashscreen (with the "One" logo) It just freezes there.
I can reboot it by holding the power button for 10+ sec. I can also get into the bootloader.
I tried to go to recovery, there was a red triangle and exclamation mark and no options. (Is this normal if the phone is not hooked up to a computer?)
I have ADB drivers installed for when I was rooting my One X.
I think she was doing a lot of updates from play store when i shut down.
Is there something to do, besides doing a factory reset?

Ok i got some more information.
It turns out that she was doing an OTA update when the phone crashed.
Is there ANY way to get the pictures out of the phone?
#EDIT
Don't know if I ruined everthing... But I installed a custom recovery TWRP, thinking I could mount the internal storage and dump the data to my computer.
In the file explorer in TWRP, the "sdcard" folder i empty.
Did I wipe it when I unlocked the bootloader?

I wan't to try and recover some data from it by pulling a raw dump of the flash memory. Using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...de-internal-memory-data-recovery-yes-t1994705
BUT Before I can do that I need the phone to boot up. What is my best route to getting a working copy of Android into the phone?
Is it possible to push it via ADB? I wan't to write as little to the memory as possible because I'm trying to recover files.
Also afterwards, how do I get her phone back to stock firmware? I have looked at this method, but can't realy figure out it would get me back to EU stock phone.

Hi
I guess even sideloading a rom would overwrite your "sdcard"
No backups?

No backups :-/ She's an average user...
I managed to make a raw dump of the entire flash memory and run data recovery on that. But I didn't get any files. (Only found system files)
Now I want to try and get it back to stock, but for some reason I can't S-OFF the phone.

-SOLVED- [Q] Trying to root, but can't boot into CWM...can anyone help?

I was using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1078019 to unlock, install CWM, and then root. Unlocking was fine, installing that version of CWM seemed okay, but when I enter command "fastboot reboot", then hold down the volume - button after 3 seconds of the Moto logo showing, then pressing the volume + key, I get only 1 option....-->Android Recovery. I press the Volume + key, get "Entering Android Recovery Mode", and below that "Reading ODM Fuse 1", then the screen switches to an android with a yellow hazard sign in his tummy.
From that screen, if I press Volume + and power, I see:
Android system recovery <3e>
Use volume keys to highlight; power button to select.
reboot system now
apply update from USB drive
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
I don't get a choice to apply something from the microSD card I have installed with the WiFi_RootTool_3.1.zip I put on the card.
Has anyone had this happen? I can't ask in the development forum. I also just got the Xoom back from a repair, and it was wiped to stock, then I did the 3.1 update when I got it back this morning. Is the fuse thing something they may have done to block rooting?
Have you tried reformat your sd card?

I'll try that. But would that stop it from going into recovery?

I reformatted my sd card, but I still can't get CWM to work and boot into recovery. Same message-
-->Android Recovery
Entering Android Recovery Mode
Reading ODM fuse: 1
And that's it....no options to load the root zip from an SD card or anything. Is there a way to push root without using the SD card? Or is that ODM fuse thing making it impossible?

Nothing at all to do with CWM.
OP: Try flashing the recovery again. To get into recovery, type adb reboot recovery, or use an app such as Quick Boot.
Edit: You can't use CWM to root, you need to do that first.

I have to root first? I'm not sure how to do it....can't find any other methods of rooting 3.1....everything on Google just points me to the same method, using the SD card that won't work cuz I can't boot into recovery. Ugh.
Hey jump hour PM me.
Hey guys,
I called JumpHour and we tried to troubleshoot this over the phone. We aren't able to get into the recovery because of error "reading odm fuse: 1". The OP is using Windows 7 64 BIT and has the SDK installed properly. He updated the sources and installed them so those are up to date. We also verified that USB debugging was enabled and that the correct files were in the tools section in the SDK folder.
We ran the commands:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot-recovery ........ (we typed it in correctly accoriding the thread)
fastboot reboot
and we get that error message.
This was all initiated while the Xoom was powered on. JumpHour stated that he had to send his Xoom back to Moto because his Xoom got messed up during the re-locking process when he unrooted a one click root and re-locked.
We then went ahead and downloaded the recovery image again and replace the one in the tools folder. We ran the commands again and we were getting the same error.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on with this process? Are we missing something? Is something broken?
Get the official images. I am assuming you have a USA 3g or wifi model.
Follow the steps to return the device to stock. But do not issue the reclock bootloader command. There is no need to relock.
From there power up the device and turn on USB debugging.
Then adb reboot into recovery. That should bring you to the stock recovery.
If all goes well from here just do what ever else you where intending to do in the first place.
You most likely can just flash the stock recovery but I would just do a full flash back to official images minus relocking bootloader.

Then let the ota update it to 3.1 and so on.

What's the status JumpHour? Did you get it to work. I told you it may have been due to the images. Hopefully that fixes your issue. Take care dude.

Hi, thanks for the response. I'm gonna try it now. I was up REALLY late last night, and just got up a little while ago. I'll definately respond after I try it out.
Finally, I did it!
Okay, I fixed it finally. Reloaded the stock images, and it's now rooted with SD support. Yay! Only took 2 days!
Thanks for all your help guys.
Can reflashing with original images fix recovery mode mount problem?
Does any window is flashing to the original images can restore access to the sdcard IF the recovery mode in the official recovery mode (not CWM) says that you cannot mount the sdcard?

You haven't searched that bad, if not you would have come across this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396229
Anyway, are you rooted? if you are rooted and did a factory reset then you don't have a Rom in your phone and that is why you are stuck on the splash screen. You even wiped everything, so probably erased usb debugging drivers from the device.
Well, you have these choices: 1) If you still can access your custom recovery (CWM or 4EXT) then you need to put a rom in your sdcard and flash it. You will have your phone back. You can even restore a nand backup and have your system as it was at that time.
2) If you are S-OFF, but can not access a custom recovery, then flash it again and follow option 1)
3) Use a PD98IMG.zip file to flash a RUU in hboot and you will get back. In the link I provided above, you have several links to those files.
In all cases, you will need an sdcard reader or someway to get the files to your sdcard.
Hope it helps....
thanks!!!!
problem solved
I'm having the same problem stuck on the android boot screen I can access recovery and tried to flash a few different roms but with the same results.

Need help deleting files off phone through oem screen (HTC Logo)

Friend was flashing some roms, something bad happened, and we are now installing RUU through the fastboot. About halfway into it, we get an error that it is out of memory. How can I delete files off the phone if the only phone menu that is woworkings the oem HTC logo screen? Or any other way around it?
Here is a link to a picture that I took. http://imgur.com/7mmVGcR
I'm the friend. This was resolved using the following.
Found this link to HTC One M8 Stock Recovery
allowed me to download the verizon version of HTC One M8 Stock recovery...
Using command prompt and the command
fastboot flash recovery vzw_m8_stock_recovery.img
The phone then rebooted back to stock while keeping s-off and root..
This is my first time having a rooted phone and I believe I installed a GSM rom and threw my phone for a loop causing all the data to delete and format the whole device. All that was left was TWRP.
Anyway this is now resovled.

You can either push a rom to your device through a custom recovery using adb or flash the factory image. You also might be able to see your device when booted into recovery and copy and paste a rom to it.

More details pls :/ I cant just plug it into computer and upload it, it doesnt go into the system and it has that SD card issue :/
Well I’ve managed to make every turn possible with my hammerhead. I’ll just explain these turns as much as I can.
1. Unlocked the device
2. Installed ROM, everything was OK.
3. Applied different ROM, started having problems with SD card. Installed TWRP manager, problem fixed. Though there were some space issues (backup 6 gb and so on)
4. Made the worst turn, bootloader mode, deleted internal storage, wiped.
5. In turns on, goes into cataclysm rom, but the system doesnt show and Back buttons or minimize or Home (those 3 buttons at the foot of the phone), wallpaper is black. IF u connect it to the computer, the internal system is just EMPTY. Can’t transfer any rom to the phone. Cant go to the store and install TWRP manager. All kinds of crazy ****.
6. Tried Force flashing it with nexus root toolkit while in bootloader mode. Failed. Doesnt recognize the device, bootloader on the phone freezes.

Phone broken because of TWRP change file system

I used a video on youtube to install TWRP on my galaxy s7 (SM-G930F)
Almost everything worked fine, except I was not able to make a backup. I got the error "Unable to Mount /data". A lot of videos told me that I need to 1. wipe 2. advanced 3. change filesystem 4..exFat and then EXT4. I tried this method, but TWRP froze after some time during the exFAT change process. Now my phone tries to boot into recovery mode, but won't go further than the very first screen of TWRP (where you see the version number and the logo).
What should I do now? I tried to reflash TWRP, but it still doesn't go past the very first screen. I am also not able to turn off my phone, because it keeps rebooting into recovery mode. I think that I need to find a way to change my filesystem to EXT4, but I cant do that with TWRP.
Can somebody help me plz (and sorry for my bad English)
press vol down + home button + power button to boot into download mode and reflash stock rom.
download rom from here https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/

I just tried this, but it does not work.
Odin says that thread has successfully flashed all the files. My phone is installing the software update and erasing, but after that the screen is black. I cant boot the device or even enter recovery mode (download mode still work). I tried both flashing CSC and HOME_CSC, but both didnt work.
What should I do now?

The same thing happened to me. Keep trying to access the TWRP even if it takes a bit longer than an hour it will enter. You do not have to do anything else, just keep trying, when you access, you'll be able to repair the partitions, change them to fat32 instead of exfat, and then return to EXT4. It will work.

Had a feeling that this would work, but really didn't had the time to wait. Have wasted €20 to fix it, but still thanks for the reply (even if you are a few months late )
Hope this will help out other people who have the same problem
