[Q] Attempted CM11 Upgrade Gone Wrong - Asus Transformer TF700

So I've installed/changed ROMs numerous times but must have slipped up this time.
Attempted to use TWRP to install CM ROM; got an error (can't recall exactly). Used TWRP option to reboot and now I'm stuck in an endless Asus logo loop.
I can get to the 3 icon screen (RCK - Android - Wipe Data).
What are my options at this point?

Did you upgrade your recovery to a cm11 compatible one first like it says to in the cm11 thread? Either flash your old Rom back or upgrade your recovery to CWM 6.0.4.6+ or TWRP 2.6.3.2.

I used Clockwork Recovery Manager to update so I thought I did but not sure at this point.
Is there a way to get back into TWRP? Only thing I can seem to get to is the 3 icon menu.

Well I think I'm hosed..
The tablet drained down to 0% overnight (due to the boot loop). I downloaded your file and transferred it to the microSD card and then plugged in the tablet to charge.
Now when I try to start it up I can't get back to the 3 icon screen just the Asus logo and "The device is unlocked" in the upper corner.

I rooted/unlocked the device more than a year ago; didn't right any of that down so no idea.
Last ROM I was using was a CM build.
Never used fastboot or adb (AFAIK) so no idea if I can; never pulled a logcat - is there a process for that somewhere to follow?

UPDATE - it appears I can get into APX mode - PC doesn't find the drivers so that's my next step. Once done what are my options?
No luck on TF700 APX drivers. Windows sees it as "Unknown Device". Found 1 thread on Google that referenced TF700 APX drivers but the file it links to is gone.

Cant RCK tf300t

Hi, Im trying to install cm 11.0 on my tf 300t, im trying to install TWRP. The boot loader is unlocked and the device is rooted. I tried get into the fast boot menu but cant. I hit Power and vol down and get into a new screen with a row of 3 icons. I see the RCK and hover over the button for 5 sec... nothing happens. I waited for 5 min an nothing happened. I then tried to hit the volume up button but that fails and re boots me into the OS. Im running 4.2.1. Is there a Fix for this problem? Can I install TWRP another way? (maybe through ADB?) Thanks

The first time you install TWRP, it should be through ADB (fastboot). Flash it from your computer. After that, you will be able to flash ROMs from the recovery menu on the tablet.

Did you flash the 4.2 TWRP file? CWM has no version that woks with the 4.2 bootloader, except for the one in the flatline.img for NVFlash. If you flashed the regular TWRP recovery by mistake, follow the instructions here to recover, and start all over again. Remember to choose the correct recovery.

Ok, so i'm assuming I need the openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-tf300t-4.2.blob file. I DO have access to fastboot, can I just flash over the other Twrp recovery installed? Or do I have to follow the steps at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44244313&postcount=12 ? Thanks.
So I ended up flashing the blob file, and it did work. But when I tried installing CM11 I got an error and it shut down. Now I had a boot screen of the ASUS logo, flashing on/off every 20 sec. BUT I did make a backup, and was able to restore the system from that. Can anyone tell me what I have to wipe/do to install CM 11 on the tf300t? Or even cm 10.2 if its easier.
some (maybe) useful info
- I can boot into fastboot
- I can boot into the OS
- I do have a backup in case anything goes wrong
- I have twrp 2.6.3

[Q] Need help recovering my S3 -- TWRP ADB Sideload not working

I pulled a boneheaded move and ended up formatting my phone from within the TWRP menu. Now the stock operating system is gone.
I wanted to put on one of the Gummy Nightly builds, but I'm new to TWRP and selected the wrong options while wiping.
So now I have the Gummy ROM on my PC, the phone is connected to my PC and in TWRP (in the advanced adb sideload feature), but adb will not recognize my phone.
When I check device manager, SAMSUNG_Android_SCH-I535 is there, but with a yellow "cauton" symbol. When I look at properties, it tells me that "The drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28).
I went out to the Samsung page and got the exe to unpack drivers on my machine... I've tried "update driver" and pointing to the root of the directory containing the Samsung drivers, but my PC claims none of them are applicable.
So what I'm looking for here is:
(1) How do I get this ROM on my phone so that I can install the zip and have a working OS again?
(2) Assuming that using the ADB Sideload feature of TWRP is my best option, how do I get the device drivers for my galaxy s3 installed to my windows 8 PC and get adb to detect it?
Thanks in advance.
Ok, so it seems to have gotten worse.
I cannot get my windows installation to recognize the phone without it being able to boot an android OS, it seems.
I had it in TWRP 2.6.0.0, but as I was trying to reboot to see if I could get into download mode (my thought being to change out TWRP for Clockwork; I seem to remember Clockwork Recovery having a "mount as USB" option which TWRP seems to lack), it tried to root the file system.
After that, the screen went black and nothing happened... the phone was unresponsive. I would remove the battery and replace it to have it vibrate once and then not respond to any key presses.
I removed the battery, SD card, and SIM card, replacing only the battery and got it to turn on and show a Samsung Galaxy SIII logo... but it's just sitting there... I'm assuming it's frozen because there's no OS to boot on the internal storage.
Please help me recover my phone!
Ok, so I've found I can still get into download mode, but not into recovery.
Recovery seems to lead to a black screen with nothing on it.
Trying to boot normally leads to the statis Samsung Galaxy SIII logo.
Can I fix my phone from the download menu?
Please help me.
Install kies and at the end of the install make sure you check install unified drivers. Then flash root66 through Odin. After that you should be good to install ROMs again.

Sorry, I'm a little out of date on the flashing and stuff -- I was just over in the thread where the poster thought he half softbricked his phone and was asking about 4.1.2 vs. 4.3
I see this at the top of my screen sitting here in download mode:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SCH-I535
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: YES (6 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE
It seems my bootloader got relocked somehow -- is this why my phone just goes to black screen when I attempt to boot into recovery -- even if I have TWRP or CWR installed? Odin claims I just pushed philz custom CWR to my PDA section, but it still won't go into recovery.
What are my options here?
You are pre 4.3 I'll help you more in the morning if no one else does first.

Ok, thanks -- I appreciate that someone's willing to help! Googling stuff is just getting me more and more confused.
I'll stay tuned for help and turn off my phone so I don't screw things up further in the meantime.
My desired result here, I think is to have my bootloader remain unlocked (as I was under the impression it was, since I was running TWRP with rooted stock ROM), with CWR as the custom recovery software and Gummy as my current ROM.
Side note: I've noticed I don't even get a battery indicator on the main screen now when I press the home button -- is this because of whatever's causing my recovery to not work (and the potential lack of an OS)?
Thanks in advance.

I believe it can. After TWRP stopped working, I tried to replace it with CWR and the digital flash count went up (Odin showed no errors on the flash) -- recovery still won't work though, holding vol+/home/power simply gives me a black screen after I see the SAMSUNG logo with the recovery boot text in the upper left.

None? :silly:
I think before this fiasco, it was running whatever version was previous to the new VZW update.
It was the fact that the new update was trying to install and failing repeatedly (because my bootloader was unlocked, I think?) that prompted me to look into finally switching to a ROM. However, my unfamiliarity with TWRP led to me formatting my phone (everything, it seems, including the SD card)... so I'm not really sure what' "on the phone right now". :\
I'm really not sure what kind of state anything is in at this point -- other than Odin seemingly working and being able to get into download mode.
Again, short version of what happened:
(1) Accidentally did a full wipe (factory reset?) in TWRP -- this wiped the ROM I was going to install with TWRP off the phone.
(2) While trying to ADB sideload from TWRP and telling TWRP to reboot, TWRP tried to install supersu.
(3) After (2), I was unable to get back into recovery mode. I got into Odin and tried to flash philz customer clockwork recovery and it seemed successful. Reboot and attempt to enter recovery still fails. Samsung logo with recovery mode text appears, but then the screen goes black.
(4) Normal boot leaves the screen stuck on the Samsung Galaxy SIII logo indefinitely.

Didn't need to go that far -- but now that I'm back up and running, signed into google play, and downloaded goo manager, can you point me in the right direction for getting it to install cwm recovery?
Thanks guys!

Changed recovery and now TF700 won't stop rebooting (makes it all the way to Android)

Hey guys, I was gifted an Asus TF700, unlocked with TWRP and an unknown ROM.
I was looking to upgrade the ROM so I tried putting Philz Recovery on the tablet by flashing the .zip in TWRP. Then I flashed a new ROM in Philz and here's where the problems start.
The tablet will boot all the way into Android, and I can use the tablet for anywhere from 10-60 seconds before it reboots. If left alone it would stay in this boot loop until the battery would die.
Now I just want to start over. I can't boot into recovery as hard as I try. It just stays at the Asus screen or restarts.
Any ideas?

This sounds like you installed a ROM that requires a newer bootloader than the one you have installed, and you skipped the instructions of that ROM that said you have to install a compatible bootloader.
Other than that, your post is devoid of useful information. You flashed "a new ROM", and you "can't boot into recovery as hard as I try.". What did you flash, what did you try?

I flashed CMB 4.4.2 and I've tried every button combo I could (power + vol down, power + vol up, power for a really long time, both volume buttons for a really long time, power + both volume buttons for a really long time). Occasionally I'd make it to the screen with four options but I couldn't select anything with volume up.
I'm new to this stuff and I just kinda assumed I had the right boot loader. Oops.
Do I have any options?
When it reboots again, you should be able to go to the bootloader menu by holding down volume-down (left). Then enter your recovery and flash the correct bootloader.

I'll try fastboot tonight and report back but I'm afraid to try anything because the tablet really doesn't last long once it's in Android.

When you boot your tablet in the screen with the RCK where you enter recovery but you don't do anything once there that is your bootloader screen and it will say in the upper left hand corner you should see something about fastboot protocol and you bootloader version also... Let me know thx lj
What is your PC's OS??
If you see 4 icons then you are in an old outdated boot loader. Don't do a while what ever you do.
You'll need to flash the latest boot loader over fastboot.

Yeah I haven't been able to get back to that four icon screen. So where can I get the latest boot loader, and do I have to be booted into Android to flash it? How long does it take?
Trying to see if my device is recognized by fastboot now...
Alright, just got the minimal ADB/fastboot installed and when I type "adb devices" it returns my Asus's serial number. "fastboot devices" doesn't return anything.
Seriously, I only get around 20 seconds before this thing resets. Any ideas for what I can do next?
EDIT: I made it to the boot loader some how ??? Four icons, first of which is RCK. Only stays at this menu for 10 seconds, it doesn't seem like the volume rockers do anything.
Thanks for your help this far folks!
EDIT 2: Keep trying to get back to the boot loader screen. Sometimes it boots into safe mode...
EDIT 3: HOLY **** I GOT IT INTO RECOVERY WHAT DO I DO NOW (nothing comes up on adb devices/fastboot devices)
EDIT 4: Ok I've made it into recovery with the bootloader on a micro SD card (from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2577165) and tried to install the zip.
It says: assert failed : write_raw_image("/data/media/blob", "staging")
E:Error in /storage/sdcard1/TF700_10.6.1.14.10_US_Boot_TWRP_2610_Signed.zip
Is this because I'm using Philz Recovery?
EDIT 5: Alright grabbed the right bootloader (from http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=4006) and I'm getting the same exact error. (Status 7). Any ideas?

Ok, it took like 5 resets to get this, but the screen with four icons reads
USepad-10.4.4.25-20121228
in the top left.
When I get to recovery, it says Philz Touch 6, Clockworkmod v6.0.4.7
Any ideas?

Ah, sorry, didn't see that. Message sent!
Managed to flash TWRP from fastboot and it seems like the tablet is running a lot longer after a factory reset. Still rebooting around 2 minutes in. Every time I try to flash an updated bootloader though it gives me an error (even when I uncheck MD5 sum check). I'm having trouble getting my tablet to show up under My Computer, and in TWRP it's not picking up my micro SD card....

HELP Restoring phone after bricked

Yesterday my phone died for no reason, and i've been trying everything i can to restore it...
What heleped me a little was the QFIL software, and downloading with it the Color OS.... the problem is that i can't access the fastboot, and the recovery boot only lets me wipe cache and data...
anyone knows how to acces the fast boot??? or is there a way to install CM12 and TWRP with QFIL??
I really need to preserve some data already in the phone, so i havent risked the chance to wipe everything...

If you're able to boot into recovery, why not in fastboot(vol+ + power)? That's strange. Also it is really a matter of doubt that you'll be able to save your data if you're not able to boot into fastboot mode.
Did you tried to flash another twrp recovery with Twrp?

Are you using original USB cable? Try it a few more times by rebooting into fastboot mode again.

I'm glad it worked.
But I didn't thought that It was a driver issue as you were able to do other commands just fine but anyways the good thing is ,it worked.:fingers-crossed:

Cos13.1.x already has Gapps mate.Btw,im wondering how you use bacon with broken touch? Screen mirroring to PC?
Just FYI,lcd+digitizer replacement doesn't cost much and even you can replace it at home.I did myself a few months ago.

its not all the screen, just the bottom inch....
and i use it rotating it 180º, which had worked fine for over half a year now... i bought and replaced a screen once, but it only lasted 11 days...
anyway... if cos13.1.x has gapps, why does it stays in the boot logo forever? :/

You mean it didn't booted? FYI,Gapps has nothing to do with rom booting, they are optional.
First boot can usually take 20-30 mins.

Blank TWRP on Sm-g530h

Hello guys. I need your help badly.
I am using Galaxy Grand Prime smg530h
The problem is when I push the power button, my phone automatically boots to recovery mode which is Twrp, yeah I was my only problem last time. I guess I wipe something using twrp, my phone says "NO OS INSTALLED" . Then I googled some ways to fix so I installed a custom rom using twrp. I though my problem was solved but still when I turn on my phone it automatically boots recovery. I googled again and did something. But a big problem shows up, When I turn on my phone, it boots automatically to twrp but after the samsung logo flashes, black screen appears. Its just blank but the my phone black light is on and I think im on twrp since everytime I touch the screen it vibrates.
Please help me

Have you tried to re-install everything including your recovery? Perhaps even your bootloader or try to flash your ROM manually from fastboot or adb.

There is already a guide available for how to flash stock rom, which you can check out here. You can get the stock rom from sammobile, the official samsung firmware resource which you can check out here.
Good luck!
Edit: You can then try to reflash twrp and if it doesn't work, post about it in the twrp thread for your device.

Samsung doesn't use fastboot, they use download mode and flash with Odin. Be familiar with these kinds of specifics about a device if you're going to give advice, otherwise you might tell someone something very wrong unintentionally.

CWM is a dead project, it is no longer supported, that is why you are only finding TWRP. If you want custom recovery, use TWRP, it is a much better recovery than CWM anyway.
