my power button is broken.. screen turns off on even with little touch... Can it be repaired or not? i have given to the repair centre they said it cant be repaired as its attached with the motherboard
You could disable it entirely at software level in android, and use an app like 'Auto screen on' to turn screen on.

Dunno what service is that you have visited, but the power button can be replaced by someone with the skills and a heat station.
Probably the hardest thing of all will be finding the actual spare part.

Hi guys,
I have TF and the power button got broken when I noticed that the bezel was slightly displaced. I just pressed on the edges and everything got fixed. However, the power button was pushed in and I didn't know the reason. I couldn't send my TF back to the company cuz I opened it to check the problem (silly me). I tried to fix it but apparently the button was actually broken. I thought of getting needed parts to fix the power button myself but I don't know where I can get them.
Any idea how can I fix the power button?
Thanks in advance
Doesn't matter if you took it apart, they will still repair it for a price - you wouldn't get a free repair anyway even if you didn't open it as it was physically damaged, rather than a fault of the device.
You can still power it on by plugging it into a power source
Agree. I also am sure they'll fix it for a price. I believe they would call it CID. Customer Induced Damage. Even if you got it that way, there's really no way to prove otherwise. Which is why whenever I ship an RMA I take a bunch of pictures and a statement I did so with the RMA paperwork. So far it's worked well.
Hello,
I recently bought Sony XPERIA J which accidently slipped into water tank which with no doubts remove the warrant of My phone & have caused several issues with its working. I kept the phone switched OFF for 5 days and successfully removed moisture from its motherboard. When I turned it ON everything is fine except malfunctioning of WiFi & several Touch Screen issues.
1. The problem with Touch is that whenever I press the POWER KEY to unlock phone I have to wait for atleast 5-10 sec for TOUCH to start responding. Is this a software issue or is it a hardware and also is there any way to fix it.?
2. Another problem is the small LED light (notification indicator), it is constantly glowing BLUE and does not show any other color for any notification and even never turns OFF. Can it be fixed?
3. Problen with WiFi is that it just keeps on trying to turn itself ON with no success, which is consuming the Battery Power a lot. How can I turn OFF the WiFi permanently?

Dude, those are clearly hardware issues. There's no way we can help you with that... take it to a repair store or try your luck with the official warranty.

Thanks for Your reply.
I actually took it to the sevice centre but the said it can only be fixed by replacing the motherboard which costs Rs10000/- , so I just thought of asking for help over here.
Alright, I can bare with these TOUCH & LED issue, but I really need to disable WiFi, so is there any way to do it like removing WiFi module or something like that?
you can try and say to the service centre officials that it started happening after u tried to update but it failed...ofcourse you have to find another service centre
just prove this is happening due to software reason even though it isnt
As they say, bring it to a Sony care point.

My nexus 5's power button became unresponsive and when pressed, wouldn't lock the screen but instead bring up the power down menu. It then turned off and when i tried to turn it back on, it would go into the boot animation, then turn off again, then turn back on and do the boot animation then turn off. I am able to get to recovery but as soon as i get there, it selects the first action. I'm assuming this could be a hardware problem associated with the power button.
The phone is currently connected to the charger, but the Google screen just flashes on and then off. Any advice is appreciated greatly, as i would like my phone to be usable soon.
EDIT: Forgot to mention my phone is unlocked and rooted, but running stock AOSP with Xposed Framework

Remove your case (if any). Press and move the button which is probably blocked.
I doubt you can do something with a power button always pressed so if it's still the same you need a RMA...

I have tried removing the case, but still have the same issue. It seems to be that the power button is faulty and is constantly being pressed, although when i press it i can here the click sound, so the button isnt jammed in. I've had the phone for 6+ months now, and havent had the phone in a situation where it could be in contact with water or small debris for a few days, so I don't really have any idea what could have caused the issue.

I have sent LG an email regarding the issue. I'm hoping that this can be easily fixed, and with the unlocked bootloader i'm not sure that the warranty is still void.

If they cannot prove unlocking the bootloader caused the fault, I see no reason for them to void the warranty.

Good point. I was thinking that this would be a hardware issue rather than a software issue.
Mine decided to start doing this last night. I have the battery cover off, and am trying to figure it out, but no luck just yet. I'm rooted and unlocked with a flashed kernel and rom. This.... could suck.
I'm experiencing the same problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/nexus-5-boot-loop-google-logo-t2797162
its very closely related to power button failure.
I hope the hardware faults are due to manufacturing defects and will be covered by your warranty.
unlocked and rooted doesn't matter.
from where did you bought the device, Play store?
It happened when I was normally using, no overheat, 84% battery remained. The phone was hanged and screen turn deep blue. I turn it off by using Power and Volume +. And It has never booted again :crying: . Unfortunately my phone was out of warranty. I've pressed and held the power button. The hard reset is not working. I tried pressing the off button near the SIM and tried turning it on again. But nothing happened. Also when I hook it onto the charger the notification light doesn't light up. PC Companion isn't recognizing it either. I've charged it for many hours, the mainboard warmed up but battery still cold. Even I removed the battery and charged it directly via a power supply machine but no use. It's a really bad hardware problem. May I have to replace the mainboard or just power management IC (PMi8994 and PM8994)? Sorry for my bad English

I'm glad to hear that, they must pay for their poor hardware build. I have seen many sudden death cases.

Send your device to warranty, they can't understand if the phone is bootloader unlocked or not because when you change the motherboard, the bootloader will come locked (bootloader is related to motherboard)

Unfortunately when my phone was dead, the warranty had expired for a week. If i send it to local support i bet they will replace the whole motherboard and take from me $200. But when I opened the motherboard and emi shield, i found the problem was around PMi8994 power management IC. I will repair soon and may be it just costs $10 lol

Hi! Did you manage to solve the problem?? My warranty is gone too and have the same problem and I want to know if you changed only the power management.
Hey!
Recently my physical buttons fell off. I have my old S9 Plus.
I don't have volume buttons. I don't have power button.
I tried using some kind of needle to turn on the phone but it doesn't work. Is there anyway I would be able to do that?
Keep in mind that I cannot go to recovery and I cannot go to download mode. The only thing I can do is go to battery mode when I connect the phone to charger.
Thank you for reading!
Take it to authorized repair center and let them try to fix it r buy a new phone.

I did but they have told me that they are not able to replace the buttons. They have to replace the whole motherboard and that is basically the price of a new phone. I'm not willing to pay that much.
Then put it into e-waste.
