[Q] Setting Ringtone using any mp3 song - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Recently bought one plus one in India , was trying to customize the ringtone by using mp3 songs. But read in one of the forum that need to copy mp3 file in Ringtone folder and you will be able to see it in system ringtone's list.
But in my case the ringtones folder is in
/system/media/audio/ringtones
which is not allowing me to add any files , since do not have permission to write on this folder.
Please advice..
Is this the right folder to copy the desired mp3 file or have to copy somewhere else.?
If this is the right folder, how to set the permission to copy any files.
Following are few details about my phone
Android versio
4.4.4
model A0001
cyanogen OS 11
Thanking you in advance.
Cheers !!

where is the ringtone file?

Hello guys. I am new to android coming from windows mobile. Where is the file or folder for the ringtones? With the windows mobile, I can navigate very easily and look for files. This one (android) seems to be hard to find.
thanks in advance.
I'm a newbie to Android to but I think they are here :-
/system/media/audio/ringtones
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong
Thanks but....how do I do that. Like I said, I'm new to the whole android scene. Can you tell me where to go on the phone. Thanks
You need to download a file explorer. I use ES File Explorer.
Also if you're looking to add your own ringtones/alarm sounds/notifications then add a new folder to the root of your microSD card & name it Ringtones/Alarms/Notifications & put the sound in the respective folder.
As for finding the ringtones that are currently on the device? I have no idea
Ah yes of course, as above you need to download a file explorer.
I personally use Astro, but check out the market and try a few and see what suits you best
Why they don't ship one install I don't understand, but I'm guessing its too stop people meddling under the hood too much as if anyone would eh
You also need S-OFF to change anything on the /system partition. As already said just create a folder on the SD card called media and stick your MP3s, etc. in there

Cannot see custom notification sound

Hello,
I followed the instructions I found here ans there to add a custom notification sound to my new S6.
In short: copy the file file from the 'download' folder to the 'notifications' folder.
The file is working fine on a Note 2 and a Note 4. It's an mp3 file.
Pb is the file is not displayed in the 'default notification' list.
I tried with another file and with other file type m4a, ogg but nothing new is displayed in the list.
Any idea to sort this out please?
Thank you

Problem unlocking video in private folder

Hi,
As the title of this post says, I am having trouble unlocking some videos I put in the private folder in MXplayer. Each time I select a video and click in the option "unlock", the program tells me that the video will be moved to Public, and when I click "Move", the program do nothing. I want to free some space in my device without loosing access to my files. What can I do?
That happened to me recently. I will tell u what I did .Install Es file explorer then select to show hidden files & folders. In internal directory u see there is a mx player folder open it. There is . private named folder present open it. U can see there is some file present with extension .private now change them to mp4 & move them to desired location. Hope this helps.

Where did they move the file folder in WeChat 7.0.17 (Android version)?

Where did they move the file folder in WeChat 7.0.17? I need to find the folder where they saved all the video and audio files. It used to be in storage/emulated/0/tencent/MicroMsg/[long string of number]/video
But now can't see anything in the folder (yes, my phone is fully rooted). If anyone figured out where WeChat moved the folder to, please let me know. Thanks.
I finally figured out the file location.
/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.tencent.mm/MicroMsg/[long string of number]/video
