No sound occasionally when making a call - General Questions and Answers

I have a Galaxy S5 Active and have recently started having a problem. Occasionally when I dial a number, no sound will be output even though the phone is making the call, and the timer at the top corner counts as if the call is working. I'd say it does this about 1 out of 5 calls, I have to hang up and call back and it will work fine. I am not positive, but I think this may have started with the recent 4.4.4 update. I really dont want to restore my phone if not necessary.. anybody heard of this issue?

Problem with "Phone" app on Nexus One

Hello,
I have been having random problem with Nexus One since the first day I got it. (Stock Firmware, Stock Firmware-rooted, Cyanogen-beta3)
Symptom : Once in a while, when making a call you will hear just one ring on Nexus One, then silence for another two rings (the other end is still ringing), then the call is cut off. --- When dialing problem shows up, you won't be able to receive a call either. When the phone rings and you slide to receive a call, it will just hang up right a way.
Temporary Fix : I found temporary fix for this issue by restarting the phone, or just killing all the running apps.
This is my first android phone, so I'm really not sure if I done something wrong. I did some search but found no topics covering this issue.
Cheers!

Problem: Making call results in silence

I've been having a weird problem that has become very frequent in the past couple days. When I place a call, I will just get complete silence while the counter starts to indicate the call is being made. I thought it was just a failed attempt to connect to the network, until I did some testing and found out that the call is actually being placed and the other person can answer - but they also get silence. When this happens, I don't get that initial little digital S3 tone you hear to indicate a call is being placed, and also don't hear the normal phone ringing tone you hear when you are waiting for someone to pick up. This is now happening on 25-50% of calls I place, so when I don't hear that tone, I just have to hangup and retry a couple times until I get the tones to indicate the call is going to work. It seems like this used to happen maybe once in a very long while, like maybe if you hang up and then immediately try to dial out again...but again, it's now happening very frequently. Anyone know what is going on here?
FYI, I've been on CleanRom 6 for quite a long while with no issues, and I haven't made any changes to my phone setup in weeks that would seem to account for this new issue. Any help would be appreciated. If I can't figure it out, looks like I'll try to wipe everything and start from scratch to see if it'll get rid of the problem.
Update: Tracked this issue to Soundabout app I had recently installed. Verified by uninstalling and reinstalling that app to fix/recreate the problem.

[Q] Dialer Switches to Conference Call

Every time I make a call the dialer automatically switches into conference calling mode and wants me to input another number or contact. I can't get out of this screen to end the call or end the call from the notification pane. Killing the dialer app causes it to retry the call when it restarts. The only way to stop this loop is to restart the device. Resetting the phone hasn't fixed the problem.
Note: Even though I typed this in the first person it's actually my friend's device. I'm just too tired to remember to keep to 3rd person and wanted coherence.
Note 2: I have witnessed the fault but I was not present for the reset so I'm not 100% certain that it was done properly.

[Q] Call goes silent for brief periods and then resumes

Hey there,
I've googled around and can't seem to find an answer to this...
I bought my Nexus 5 last week from the Play Store and I've been noticing a weird behaviour during calls. Sometimes, I stop hearing the other person, for a very brief period (it has lasted from 3s to about 20/30s). After a certain time, with no user interaction (and provided the other caller does not disconnect), the call comes back.
What's even more weird is that, when this happens, the proximity sensor stops working. The screen turns on and, no matter how close it is to my face (or even if I place a finger over it), it does not turn off for the duration of the "blackout". Everything else is responsive (touchscreen, other phone functions, etc). I'm not sure, but I think the reception bars show no change.
During this "blackout", the other callers report that they cannot hear me speaking.
Should I send it to warranty? Is there a fix? I'm currently running Android KitKat 4.4.2 stock, with no updates to download (I believe 4.4.3 has already been released, but don't know if it will address my issue). My model is the D821.
Thanks for the help
Bump

2nd incoming call problem

The following problem happens every time. If I am in a call and a another call comes in I get that bip in the headset. I look at the screen and see the 2nd caller, with a few options like answer, reject, etc.
The problem is that if I don't touch the screen and just let the 2nd caller keep calling, when I put the phone to my ear to continue the first conversation, the phone automatically switches to the 2nd call and puts the first one on hold.
This is incredibly annoying and even put me in cumbersome situations because the 2nd caller was on without me knowing it.
I can replicate this every single time, my sister as well on her Z3 compact, so it's a software problem.
Any solutions?
If anyone else has this problem just deactivate smart call handling from settings. Problem solved. Unfortunately we lose the smart answer as well.
