[Q] New to roms, camera issue - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Hey everyone,
I started using a lollipop rom not too long ago (few months ago) and everything on my M8 was working (gr8.) However, I went into my camera once, after many uses that worked fine previously, and the image is rotated 90 degrees CCW when using the rear camera, not the front camera. So I tried covering up both lenses, and discovered it is only using the top of the duo camera.
After trying a new rom, SkyDragon (which is great btw, Tigerstown; I don't have enough points to do many things quite yet), I still have this issue. This means it wasn't the rom I was originally/am currently using, but might have to do with hardware? I did nothing different to my phone after installing either rom, and it's weird that it just happened, even after several uses of it working alright.
Does anyone know what could be the issue, or know someone who had a similar issue with their M8? imgur dot com slash GAtnFTo (broken up Legend of Zelda protagonist, because my privileges are weak) This image taken with my camera while phone was in portrait.
Thanks xda community!

[Q] Front facing camera issue

Hey,
So I cracked my screen, changed it with OEM new parts, and worked great for weeks after the installation.
Now, I'm having camera issues, back camera works fine, but when you switch to front facing camera the app freezes and crashes, and I get cant connect to camera black screen, and at this point the back camera wont work either, if you restart and clear data on camera app the back camera works again, but front facing will never work. Currently, I;m running stock rooted but I've had this issue with rooted custom roms and stock unrooted. I'm not sure if this is related to the screen change or not, but it worked great for weeks after the screen change. and, I;m having the same issue with other camera apps too, no snap chat installed nor any other apps that could conflict.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks!
I am currently dealing with a similar situation. Did you find anything to help fix the problem?
This is almost certainly due a little piece of tape coming off of the ribbon cable. I happened to solve this by cutting a small piece of scotch tape and wrapping it around the ribbon cable so that the underside of the cable is not making contact with the PCB.
I know this is a super late reply but I hope it can help someone in a similar situation!
Hello. So i had the exact same problem as OP. Got my screen replaced (not by me), but a few days after that i noticed that my camera would freeze when trying to change it to the front facing camera. i had issues with messenger and the normal app. i did a few system restores and even unlcoked and installed custom rooted Roms last night. Still freezing on the front camera.
I'm now positive its a hardware connection issue. Anyone else have this issue? I feel i should open the phone and try to fix it.

Camera crash and no focus issues

so I've had my OPO for around half a year now, and I had to replace the screen recently. but now whenever I open any app that uses the back camera, the entire phone crashes and reboots. also, with any camera utilizing app, I cannot focus at all. I have tried multiple different ROMS to see if it was a software issue. but the problem is still present.
I am currently running the official CM12s and have a 64GB model if that helps.
I made sure that I was careful when replacing the screen, I grounded myself before touching the phone. to my knowledge I did not damage the internals in any way.
I have lived with this issue for about a month now, and can no longer handle the crashes.
any help would be appreciated
P.S. I cannot get a replacement model as I did not get the phone off of the OnePlus site. (I got it brand new off ebay)

[Completed] LG G4 with CM14 | 7.1 - Camera is way to slow on normal exposure

Hey guys,
I have a problem with my camera on the LG G4. Note: The Snapdragon Camera is flashed on the device but I tested different apps too. The camera was pretty good on stock and worked well. The internal/selfie camera is still fast and works fine but the external camera / back camera is way to sloppy. While trying to take a photo with apps like Instagram, the Google Photo Scanner or Google Camera / Snapdragon Camera it seems to use the wrong exposure times.
Even while taking a photo of a person in front of a white wall being in room light it's lagging pretty hard and everything is sloppy and slow. Taking good photos is really hard this way. Only when I focus on a TV / Computer Screen it's running fine since the exposure and ISO timing is automatically changed to the correct values. When I move away from the Screen again, it's getting slow and sloppy again.
Anyone had something similar with Cynanogen Mod? I also had the issue with my Nexus 6 before which was really annoying. I don't know if I do something wrong while flashing, but I can't find out whats wrong. I tested the same enviroments with my girlfriends unflashed Huawai P9 and her phone is just running fine without problems. I would use stock software but I really hate all the bloatware and modified Android versions they bring in.
Everything else works fine and the phone overall has a good performance. The issue was already existing with CM13 too. Maybe some driver being installed wrong?
Thank you very much. If you need more informations just tell me so I can give you more infos.

Greetings and welcome to assist. You really need to ask this in the rom thread, it is quite a common issue when using cm based roms for there to be camera issues.

Pop up camera weird behavior

I had a strange behavior a while ago.
I was riding my bike, the phone was in the pocket and I got a video call for which the front cam would have popped up. When I stopped to check, the camera was partially hanging out.
Started the cam app and switched cams to see if the cam goes up and down, it didn't respond. Then I pushed the cam inside and upon switching to front cam, it won't pop up.
Rebooting the phone fixed the issue. Btw I'm on Havoc 7/29 build.
I'm not sure if the behavior is same on oos as well since I haven't used it long to experience this.
Has someone experienced the same? Is it rom specific or is this a design fault from OnePlus that'd be seen even on the stock oos?

This would be a problem with custom rom, I have never seen this issue on stock rom

OP7 PRO camera-s not working

Hi all !
In my hands now OP7 PRO which has been regulary updated and after recent update both cameras stopped working, youtube too !
So, had it downgraded to 9.5.3. and back camera and youtube back again but front camera not (so not even motor poping out)
Tried clean flash with fastboot rom but all the same
Done camera test through *#808# with no success, tried camera motor test, calibration too and no joy.
So before I order any parts just wonder whats the logic behind motorised cameras:
will motor pop out if camera is dead or other way round if motor is dead will that cause software block to launch camera (when you want to switch from back to front camera you getting nothing). ! Ready to order camera or motor but not sure whats actually gone !
Any experience, opinions about this Oneplus issue that seems affect many
Thanks
Got the exact same scenario as you but yet no solution.
Still looking for some answers online everyday though ..
Hi !
Done few tests so far, prove that motor/actuator is working and it must be the camera. Orderd camera yesterday and with a luck should get it in 30 days.
Funny thing about it that once I had Oneplus 5 with exact same issue, ordered new back camera, installed it and all back working than was curious and returned old one and the old one back working too
Conclusion ? No explanation by now.
Update: new camera arrived, installed and all back working !!
