Why is Lollipop on LG G Flex 2 trash? - LG G Flex 2

Is it me or does Lollipop on the G Flex 2 suck? I've heard rumors of problems with the Snapdragon processor, but I think overall my experience with LG phones leads me to believe that Lollipop might be the problem. The battery life is average at best, where as other LG phones like the G2 (KitKat) have way better battery life. Performance lags on the G Flex 2, for example if you drag down the notification menu there's a small lag.
Any hope for getting a KitKat based rom on LG G Flex2?

I'm guessing it has more to do with LG not spending any time to optimize the overall performance and experience, focusing instead on their upcoming flagships.

It suck on the nexus 6 as well . sold my nexus 6 for this phone the new os is gonna take awhile until Google refine it. Hell they did a horrible launch on the nexus 6 that phone got so many issues. In time it will get better

Lolipop on the Nexus 5 is incredible. I'm so annoyed with LG right now. This device is crap.

Its more of the developers error pushing preset numbers that throttled the crap out of the phone. Fix comming soon.

Battery life is the issue for me, as a guy who doesn't buy portable chargers, I need one now for the Flex 2. It's very disappointing. Hope LG does something about it

Sorry fellas, I returned this pos, even after reconfiguring the throttle levels, which made the phone better, but not as smooth as I'd hoped overall. Picked up the nexus 6. Enjoy this pos for the next 8 months until they release lg g 4 lol...

Have fun with the nexus 6 i sold my for the glex 2 then had issues and took it back for the note 4 and couldn't be any happier. Lg dropped the ball on this device. First off if people wanted a smaller phone because the og flex was to big get a g3. Secondly they should have offered the lg g pro 2 to all the carriers or kept a phablet around in either flex or g pro form. People buy phablets then complain about the size i don't get it. Samsung has the same issue people complain about built quality then complain about no sd card or removable battery. Hopefully lg do right with the g4. The flex 2 is a great device with a bad engine that overheats.

I'm actually kind of feeling the same. I haven't had the lag nor overheating problems but the phone refuses to see my samsung 64gb micro sdhc.
It also corrupted the data on it and i lost 40 gb of content. About half of which i cannot replace.
With the Galaxy S 6 coming out on the 10th I just may switch depending on how things go.

Lollipop 5.0.1 and 5.0.2 has a huge memory leak... and it doesn't help that our cores are throttled due to over heating... the memory leak is fixed in 5.1

From Which Phone to the Moto G?

Curious as to what phone you guys are currently using or coming from prior to your decision to acquire the new Moto G. Please state your last or, if you're like me and waiting delivery of your (ordered) Moto G, your current phone.
Me: Nexus 4
Why? I love the Nexus 4 for its functionality and especially for being in the forefront of the developer community. Until 4.4, it got all the updates right away. And even after that, 4.4.1 and 4.4.2 with their respective fixes were issued rather quickly by Google. The dual pane glass design is beautiful and unique, albeit potentially fragile (as some N4 owners have had the misfortune of discovering). And for me, the camera isn't nearly as bad as some have made it out to me. It's no iPhone camera to be sure, but a lot of the the grievances can certainly be chalked up to poor photo-taking techniques (eg., one-handed shots causing 'camera shake').
But for all its positives, I really wish it had better battery life. I'm forever flashing and re-flashing and configuring new kernels and, to a lesser extent, ROMs in the hopes of eeking out a bit more battery life. I regularly read some users of certain kernels getting 4, 5 or even 6 (!) hours of Screen-on-time ("SOT"). I'm lucky to get around 3 hrs of SOT. I check and try to control wakelocks. I undervolt. I turn off GPS and location reporting. I would like to leave Google Now on but dare not. I lower my max CPU to something less than what the chip is designed for. I even 'Greenify'! All to little or no avail. While the battery is enough to last me the day on 50-60% of the days, I do find myself having to curtail usage of my phone around 3-7pm just to make sure it lasts until I get home. I'm often on the road and not near an electrical outlet for a quick mid-day charge (and hate carrying an additionaal portable charger) so battery life is the paramount consideration. And because of this, I've decided I'm willing to give up some of the things I've been looking for such as 1080p (although I can't significantly tell the difference between that and a 720p screen less than 5"), maybe a larger screen (not that important), and LTE (this would be the biggest trade-off of desired features for me). If battery life were not that important, I would just pick up a Nexus 5. Battery life aside, I've been reading that most everything else about the Moto G is rather on par to the N4. Sure the camera resolution might be slightly less, the phone casing a little less elegant and the memory 1 gig smaller, but I'm not a strict adherent to specs as the only determinant of what phone I use.
And, of course, there's the PRICE in the Moto G's favor! Because it's relatively cheap, I certainly don't intend to be babying the G, when getting a replacement in the unlikely event of phone failure, isn't nearly as major a consideration as if my daily phone were an iPhone or most any other premium phones.
Experience so far with the Moto G, if any: None so far. I'm one of those who has a phone ordered from Motorola and waiting for delivery (via my home in California) out to me in Asia. In fact, I've got two on order -- one for my wife and one for myself.
That's enough of me. How about you?
I bought my daughter one for Christmas.
Because iPhone 4S.
I had a Nexus 4 which I sold a bought an iPhone 5c. While the iPhone is a fantastic phone I missed Android. So I sold the 5c , bought a Moto G and has £230 left over. The Moto G is great, probably one of the best Android phones of owned especially for the money.

I got it to replace my LG Optimus 2X.
The LG was a fine phone but it kind of started to fall apart and it was slow and clunky in comparison to the Moto G. It just wasn't a very nice experience anymore and I wanted something new for some time now. Wiping everything and re-flashing CM regularly was pretty much the only way to keep it going at a reasonable level.
So far I'm extremely happy with the Moto G. It's pretty fast, has a lovely screen, it runs all the apps that I use extremely well and the hotspot feature works like a charm. That was another problem with the LG, it kept dropping the connection.
I had a Galaxy S2. Was broken and couldn't fix it. And then this phone came in stores. Saved me that money and bought it. Really happy with it so far.

Battery life is WAY better, it is faster and it fits better in my hand....
Should have gotten the 16gb version though =P

Nexus 5. Seriously...
S4, still have it. The idea was to use this as a second phone but after a few days of using it I'm not sure I'll use my s4 again. That's not to say its a better phone, it's not. But its not as far off as the price would suggest. It does everything I need just as well, the biggest thing I miss is faster downloads. Great phone, a mini nexus and you'd be hard pressed to see any difference in performance between this and a nexus 4.

LG G3 or Nexus 5 or OnePlusOne (phone for <400$)

After my brave soldier, Galaxy S2, broke down (after 4 years of use), I am looking for a new phone. What am I looking for:
OS updates for 2 years
Good camera (it would be nice to have good front camera too)
Good screen
Not bigger than 5.5" (5.5 is huge for me, coming from Galaxy S2)
Good build quality
Good battery life would be great! (it needs to last for the whole day)
Not a Samsung
So, I have considered following phones as candidates:
LG G3
Nexus 5
OnePlus One
But I have doubts about all of them.
First of all, the G3. I am afraid it will not receive updates for a long period of time. Also, I have heard that it has some issues with screen being too hot sometimes. And what about the camera on it? Is it good?
Second, the Nexus 5. This one looks for me as a winner, but I still have some questions about it. Isn't it a bit too old? And what about camera quality? Maybe you have any comments on this?
Last, but not least, the OnePlus One. This phone gives me headaches... A lot of people are saying that it is one of the best phones for under 400$ (my budget), but I have quite a few questions about it. Since I can only get it second hand, it has to be perfect. So, what about the camera quality, screen quality? Mostly I am worried about CyanogenMod. I have been using CM OS on my phone for quite some time and am able to say that it can be very buggy and annoying sometimes. Won't this be an issue for OnePlus One? And will it be updated to latest OS for at least 2 years? Also, what about build quality? I have heard that 64GB version (the black one) wears of very easily.
So there, I have a bit of an issue to solve and I do believe that XDA forum is the place to solve it! Maybe you can help me out and give me some suggestions on what should I buy?

In my opinion Lg G3.
Lets sort the list first. Shall we? Nexus 5 is way too old. Its back camera is also not upto the mark as compared to generation of phones and ofcourse why would it be? We have nexus 6 now.
Nexus 5 is out.
Lg G3- Camera quality awesome! Lg Interface Perfect! Os updates i am pretty sure it would get updates for a good time period! As Lg g1 was released one 4.1.2 and was updated till 4.4.2. Pretty nice run huh? And g3 was given soak test of lollipop before the nexus too! So yeah Lg G3 is a go. Awesome build quality too!
Oneplus one- Of all the news i have heard its good! yeah OS will gets updates for a pretty long period but i am unsure of the updates as cyanogenmod was overtaken from oneplus one via micromax ( in my country ). Now in terms of camera Lg is better. In terms of build quality LG is a go. About the os, it is very stable as compared to unofficial builds. The pixel density of oneplus one is very less than as compared to Lg g3!
In my terms go for lg g3 its perfect!!

It is very hard to get OnePlus for me, since not only I don't have an invitation, but also it doesn't ship to my country. So I have to buy second hand one. That sucks.
The G3: It is a looker for real. It is quite big, and has issues with heat (MKBHD it think talked about full brightness issue). He is quite a reliable source. Battery drain worries me too. Will I be able to use it for at least 24 hours? It is a very difficult decision to make.
The Nexus 5 would be a killer, but it's camera and battery life, it sucks.

Well man no, no android phone would last upto 24 hours after 3 months. So its all the same. Now, would you keep your phone on full brightness all the times? Would you man?? No. And heating issue, well man every android and ios phone over heats after gaming or continues usage over 1 hour or 2 hours max. So, its all the same. My Moto g 6 months old in the starting gave 20-22 hours backup and from next month 12-15 hours. So its all the same bro.

Flex 2 or G4???

I've been following the Flex 2 since Flex 1 came out
I've been planning to upgrade from my Note 2 FOREVER... I really wanted the Flex 2 but the whole SD810 overheating problem, lack of 3GB RAM and no Flamenco red colour choice in Europe has stopped me from buying the LG G Flex 2 straight away. I can see SD810 is getting better with updates and I realized 2GB RAM (European model) is not a deal breaker for me. But I really want a curved screen and the Red colour choice.
So I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for the red colour to come out in Europe... and guess what?
G4 was released today.
G4 seems like a perfect phone to me. LG seems to have corrected a lot of its mistakes from G3 and Flex 2. Perfect Camera, Perfect Screen, Perfect Size, Perfect Battery, Perfect Micro SD, Perfect UX.
But I just cant get over the FLAMING HOT RED AND CURVED LG G FLEX 2. My head is saying G4 but my heart is saying Flex 2.
So I have to make a decision and I would love to hear some opinions
G4: More RAM, Better Camera, "More Stable" Processor, Better Screen, Better Software.
Flex 2: CURVED SCREEN, FLAMENCO RED.
What would you choose?
I may have only had the flex 2 for 5 days, but so far I like it. I do have issues though.
Battery is nothing near what the flex 1 was, barely lasts me 12 hours of moderate use. 6 hours of heavy use. (average screen on time is 3.5 hours so far)
The device does get hotter than the flex 1, but it hasn't overheated yet. It will get hot to the point where the device will prevent you from increasing the screen brightness, though.
Performance is fine. It has very small, almost unnoticeable lag every once in a while. Usually in an app that requires a lot of computation (games).
Take everything I say with a grain of salt, as this is the AT&T US version, which has 3GB of RAM.

I'm actually quite irritated that the G4 wasn't on the radar a month ago. I would have waited a little longer, and now I'm stuck with a device that seems like it wasn't designed as well as it should have. I feel burned by LG for this, especially because I took a risk with a preorder. I really wish I could return it and get a G4 but that's not an option for me ($-wise) anymore.

That's why is best to wait it out instead of trying to be one of the first to get the device. Also there was so much rumors about the 810 chip before the device even had a release date but a lot of folks decided to ignore it and still risk on getting it thinking maybe an update would fix it.
---------- Post added at 01:40 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:33 AM ----------
LG G3 was the first phone with 2k screen and they didn't do a good job with it, then came along Samsung and perfected the 2k screen same with the chip lg g flex 2 was the first with it and failed badly on behalf of both LG and Qualcomm. Now what even funny is that the G4 has the 808 chip which LG and Qualcomm has been working on for 2 years what!!! Lmao I know right I mean why didn't they just go ahead and put the 808 into the flex 2? Well guess the flex 2 was their test phone for Qualcomm 810 chip and saw how fail it was and decided to go with the 808 for the G4 lol.
G4!

keep my note 5 or my rooted lgg4

so i got my lg g4 back for the 3rd time of selling it and customers have sold it back to me.
its rooted and unlocked but no twrp
in the short couple months ive had my crappy old tore up note 5 with no usb port.... i think im in love.
i love so many features from both phones i cant make up my mind which one i will sell... im not hard up for money i dont have to sell either but xmas time one would make a great gift and a little extra cash in my pocket.
what are your guys thoughts
You can fix the usb port quite easily.
I'd stick with a LG G4 over a Verizon Note 5, speaking as somebody who used both when Samsung refused to repair my note 5 on holiday as it wasn't purchased from the States. Sure the LG G4 runs hot and has poor battery, but Android N helps solve this. The Verizon model of the N5 is worthless in my opinion.
I'd stick with the Note 5 personally. Better processor, better camera, more RAM, better battery life, AMOLED screens look nicer than LCD. I have a Verizon Note 5, and if you don't like the software, you can simply replace the Samsung apps with Google's with a bit of work. Also the theming engine on the Note 5 is pretty great. The G4 software is pretty bland, though options with root are pretty cool. The Note 5 can hang with modern high end, the G4 feels very mid range now.

Best phone i ever purchased.
Battery life and performance is amazing.
Stock android is very smooth way better than my galaxy S6.
Love the simplicity of the phone, no hardware issues from the device except few OS side issues
Phone is outstanding. Great battery life / form factor / build quality.
Price point combined makes this my favorite phone to date.
Nexus 6 note 5 s7edge.
I like this better than those.....
My only actual gripe would be that front speaker grill(cavity) gathers dust rather quickly and it's kind of annoying.....but I just blow the dust out from time to time....not that bad
Will see how long it lasts...but for price....beats the g5. I should have never spent an extra dime on my g5 and just got this but the 4g ram version. But even this works good enough.
GPS....no issues (g5....horrible),
Never gets hot...g5 got so hot that after 9 months it now bootloops when it gets to hot (no warning and no way to cool it down fast enough)...
Had some issues while driving (ups driver) where my gps would show on maps no connection (like the g5) but it pulls the address , loads and doesn't look position.
For a 200$ phone it is really good. Lg should learn something...word of bootloops in g6 and v20 is already out.
The Moto ..2 weeks in....much better than my g5 felt in it's first 2 weeks. Especially battery wise and heat wise.

Possibly the best value smartphone I've owned in all the devices since my first smartphone back in 2003 (HTC Canary)
Used to spend considerable money back in the day to have the latest phone with a USI, but no more, can't justify it, phones are much of a muchness these days.
Mine is doing great. Haven't even really tweaked it, didn't root it yet, and very few things I dislike. Can't get over the fact that the 2 g5 and my wife prior g4 are such a waist of lg techie....

I really like the G5 Plus, it could do with the sharpening knocking down on the rear camera but that is my only criticism really.
I'm a big fan of stock Android, really love the stock UI. Great performance and battery life, especially from a budget phone. Still not a fan of the ascending ringtone, but I can live with that.

Ahh... So we traded our NFC for a compass? Odd trade off.
After 3 month or so of use the vibration feature started to die for me (US unlocked g5 plus 4/64). If I move the phone / shake it, it might come back on for a while. Figure it has to be something loose? I never dropped my phone or done any damage I can recall to it... So it has to be poor manufacturing. This is the second Moto G that I had defects in, too (g3 some years ago). My bad luck or just cheaply made products (get what you pay for)?
Nonetheless, think I'm looking to a different company next time.

No service center near me. So I can either send it to them, sit without a phone for 10? 15? 20? Days... Or pay for a replacement along with the $200 hold.
I'll eventually send it out, after I get a replacement phone that isn't Moto. Google should have never sold Motorola to Lenovo. Their quality has tanked.

Well, I succumbed to the advance replacement and paid the $25 plus the $200 hold money to ensure I'd return a phone. For my troubles Motorola charged me an additional $25 for no reason. They assure me it's no problem, that when I return the broken one I'll get all 225 back (security hold plus the extra money for no reason).
I expected nothing but problems and Lenovo isnt letting me down. Grr.

It's not perfect. The screen and camera are mediocre. It's slightly too big, 5.2" is an awkward screen size IMO (the G5 was perfect at 5").
