Wanting to switch back to windows phone (started with ppc6700 in '06 and its successor 6800) as i had converted to android in 2009. I have unlimited data on Verizon. Can i tether on this phone without having to pay extra tethering fees?

I recently switched to Verizon. I used to run an HTC 8525 on AT&T with no problems. My Verizon Touch Pro has a cooked ROM WM6.5, BBC 4.0.106. I'm not getting a PIN and I did change the AKU in the registry to 1.6.0. The PIN still shows up as Pending. When I activated the device with Verizon I'm on an unlimited Data Plan, NOT a Blackberry Plan. I'm wondering if that's the problem. Of course I got on the phone with their tech support and asked to be put on a Blackberry Plan, and they said they couldn't do that. So, does anyone think this is the problem? Or should the PIN generate regardless of data plan?
My friend is interested in finding out if there are any HTC Windows Phones that can be activated with Sprint without a required data plan. This might switch him from his Blackberry.
OK, so here's the situation:
I currently have a standard voice + data plan with Verizon, and I have a dinky old-school cellphone to go with it. My contract will soon enable me to upgrade with a large discount...so I was thinking of (finally!) upgrading to an android-based phone. I'm a developer/hacker of random things, and I'd really like to mess around with the platform
Anyways...I was wondering if there is a way I could put an android phone on my current Verizon plan (read: not obtaining a data plan). It's fine if this requires me to buy the phone out of contract for more money initially...I just have never been able to stomach the data plans' pricing.
Additionally, I would like a phone capable of running the latest OpenGL ES standard available on whatever the latest android version is. However, I have heard that it's possible to upgrade even the G1 to android 2.2, so I'm not sure how much of an issue this would be...
Thanks in advance
To be honest, I really doubt Verizon would let you get an android phone without a data plan. The worst part about CDMA providers is that you're really locked down, and they can watch your IMEI and adjust your plan accordingly.
I'm thinking about upgrading to the HTC Inspire. I don't want to get a data plan because I get wifi 90% of the day (at home and on campus).
My dad is the only person in our family plan who has a data plan. Can he use my upgrade to purchase the Inspire for his line and then switch SIM cards with me? Will he still be able to use his own upgrade for himself in the near future?
I read that AT&T can detect which phone people are using by IMEI. However I've used my Nokia E71 for the past year (upgraded online without a data plan, don't know why it didn't force me) and have been using an iPhone 3G (not mine initially) for a couple of months with no data plan and haven't been caught yet.
Hi All,
I live in a remote area and need an unlimited connection for home use... The Sprint network is great here, however the "unlimited" plan limits tethering to 5gb. I was looking at the LG G2, or Nexus 5, (I have a Nexus 7 and love it) but it seems as if Pdanet/Foxfi will not work.
Is there a work around for the G2 or is there a similar phone that will allow me to share my unlimited data? (Don't mind rooting, just not too familiar with it)
Want to be totally informed before signing up for a 2 year agreement.
Thanks for any feedback, and sorry if this isn't posted in the right area.
