Hey guys!
I am not new to installing a custom recovery and/or custom ROM on my phone devices but have never done it on my Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 I downloaded the correct TAR file for TWRP and tried flashing it via ODIN. Everything in ODIN went fine, with no errors and everything being reported as PASS/SUCCESSFUL. Only problem is when I boot into RECOVERY, I have the factory Recovery and not TWRP's? Has anyone had issues with getting a custom Recovery on this particular model?
ODIN MODE currently shows the following details:
PRODUCT NAME: ESPRESSO10
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (1 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
Yettttt, I don't have the Custom TWRP Recovery??
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!
Its probably that bastard script sammy put in that reflashes stock recovery on boot....install-recovery.sh or something to that effect. Look for it under /system/etc if memory serves...just delete it when you find it.

I found the file and your memory served you well! Just to confirm, this won't cause any device issues down the road by removing this file? I guess for instance if I ever wanted to unroot and sell it to someone, etc.....I would be able to get that factory recovery back? Not that I want it but in the example(s) above I just want to know if it will be able to revert back to it if need be.
Thanks again!!
Nah, that file is useless. If you odin back to a stock image itll all come back.

Info much appreciated....thanks! Last question....once deleted, do I have to reflash the custom recovery or will it just automatically load my custom recovery?
Will have to reflash

Ok so the system won't allow me to delete/rename the file. Ughhhh so frustrating! The whole reason I am trying to do this is so that I can ROOT the device. Do I need root privileges to delete/rename this file??
Yeah, flash recovery and boot directly into it...dont let android boot
Then use adb to get rid of that file.

In other words, in ODIN, uncheck the auto reboot option? When you say boot directly into it and dont let android boot....what exactly is that?
Uncheck auto-reboot.
If odin finished: Wait for 1 Minute to be sure! Then directly boot into recovery using the power & volume combo

Well to be honest, it's hard enough trying to find the correct forum for the specific tablet I have, nevermind making sure I am posting my question in the appropriate section. Wasn't sure if just Help and Troubleshooting would have this kind of information. Regardless, my fault. As to the method you linked to in previous post....I will give that a shot. I see it was successful on a p31xx. Hopefully it works just as well on a p5100? Also just to confirm, the p5100 is the Tab 2 that has the EDGE/GPRS/LTE radio and the p5110 is ONLY Wifi?
Thanks!
There is not much feedback, but a lot of downloads.
Read the feedback here on xda, i got some feedback that it´s working without problems in a german-forum too
I purchased a refurbished tf300t, flashed twrp on it, installed cm 10 then cm 11, installed multirom, installed a different blob to install the new version of multirom with twrp, tried flashing omni rom to no avail. I was not thinking correctly as I have never had problems with my previous phones that I could not fix but thus far I have been unable to find a stock rom and a way to flash it such as odin for other phones/tablets. I have downloaded stock zip files to no avail and have found nothing useful as of yet...haven't figured how to flash back to the previous version of twrp as I have been a CWM user until I received this device which supposedly had twrp which couldn't be bricked with. multirom is uninstalled now and I'm trying to figure out how to flash a stock rom and start from scratch again as I have never been an asus tab nor smartphone user previously. I also have a twrp asking for a password as well and I have read that there is a way around that but have not looked into that yet.
Any and All help is appreciated
Thank you.

Hi I am a newbie and I just followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2788632 and rooted my phone. Today I check android and it says there was an incremental update, after downloading it I clicked install, the phone rebooted into TeamWin Recovery Project. First in order to install this update must I wipe my phone? I tried to install the update zip file in the /cache but it gave a failure, something to do with md5 file not found and something.
Just to thanks...
Thank you @Calkulin for your thread about the 05Q update!
(sorry to pollute here, but I can't reply into the topic...)

I downloaded the actual file provided by Calkulin and not the default updater.
then when you install update / boot recovery install with the zip that you downloaded yourself and it works.
@jake: But why dont you just use the Calkulin's rooted rom? It worked fine for me, putting it into TWRP, first that zip, then the "extra", then SU. Wipe cache/Dalvik.
I hope I have understand well your question, English is not my language..
Ringer volume keep lowering itself do you have this issue or not??
THANKS!
Update work well and the color is back, finally. I'm very happy about that!
THANKS!
RE Question: Can I flash these over cm12 nightly?
Q: Can i Flash this ROM over my CM12/Other Lollipop ROM?
A: Yes youi can, However....
You will need to do a full Wipe!
Also Lollipop comes with a new Radio which bricks/breaks the Proximity sensor
in Android Versions preceding 5.0 meaning....
Any Versions of android before 5.0 is not fully compatible with the radio from Android 5.0+.
Symptom of using the Android 5.0 Radio with previous Versions of Android Results in
the proximity sensor registering as being blocked.
Therefore screen off gestures (V Flashlight, O Camera, < ǁ > Playback Controls) will NOT work.
Also while in a call, your phones display will always turn off, and will not turn on until the call has ended.
Unless you program a hardware button to end the call you will not be able to end calls,
your screen will be unresponsive until the party on the other end of your call has ended the call...
Flashing a rom will NOT change the radio.
you must fastboot flash the radio intended for Android 4.4.4 for this rom.
How to flash Stock Rooted XNPH05Q for OnePlus One
Hi, I am new to the Android world and am a novice.
I am using a China OnePlus One with XNPH25R ROM flashed by the shopkeeper, rooted with TWRP recovery. I would like to know if I could flash the new ROM Rooted XNPH05Q using TWRP, and if there are any Wipes I need to do before or after. Thank you.
installing 05Q on multirom
I'm running the latest cm12 official nightly and have multirom installed on my phone. Can I flash this ROM as my secondary ROM and flash the extras zip in the secondary ROM?

Only wipe cache/Dalvik. "Install" the rooted rom by TWRP + extras. Update Super SU, wipe cache/Dalvik.
It's done, nothing will be lost and you don't have to upgrade step by step, this is a full rom.

You won't loose anything, nor using Calkulin's rooted rom, nor using the OTA
download
why is my virus software blocking the download?
what's different on these images?
what is the meaning of that 2nd (XNPH05Q Radio, etc) image? it would be nice if there were description on the first post about images and what they have with them.
sent from phone via chrome (so it's hard to scroll previous chatter to find which one to take.
This ROM is awesome. I''m coming from stock CM11S and CM12 nightlies but was very unsatisfied with the functionality of the phone. Random restarts, wifi not working, camera taking odd pictures. Since friday I had no issues, all working fine.
Sample pic taken with CM12 nightly stock camera app, no filters.
I know this might have been asked so many times but my question is slightly different.
I am using a Moto X xt1060 with read only root and a locked bootloader (Build details are in the screenshot). Since my root access is write-protected, I am unable to install any recovery or to do any other changes to the system when booted in ROM.
I wanted to flash a twrp rom in fastboot mode but I am constantly getting a "variable not supported" max download size of 85097897bytes error cannot load twrp.img.
While researching for this on internet I found this reply on many threads including some thread here too (Unfortunately I couldn't remember which thread it was!) The solution proposed was :
"You should be able to catch the phone during its initial reboot process and get it into recovery before the main OS launches. Then you should be able to flash super user while there. "
My question is how can I so quickly bypass main OS bootup right after flashing the recovery when I don't even know if it was flashed properly?
