HQ Android is an android review website, focused only on applications. My initial plan was to review every major application, and then simply have them updated as time passes.
Besides simple reviews, there will be news about weekly app updates (including changelog), android wear app reviews, mock designs for app redesigns etc.
We were a larger team, but I went inactive for few months due to preparations for my marriage and honeymoon. In that period, some of them left, and now there are five of us still willing to work on this project.
All authors are allowed to put up to two adsense units in their reviews, and there will be no other ads on those reviews. Other ways of site monetization would be paying for review positioning on website (the three reviews at the top, and the wide one, currently Dashclock). In other words, visitors wouldn’t be spammed with ads. I will help out authors without Adsense account to get one, and those that have it ready can immediately add their ads.
Now I’m not a web programmer at all, I’m just pretty familiar with WordPress. I bought a theme on Themeforest, set it up and paid a designer for a logo. The theme itself is pretty good and has all the features a standard review website would need. However, there are some things I’d like to get implemented/changed, so I requested those from the developer. If the site gets fairly popular, I might hire someone to build a custom theme for the website, or build the site on a different framework.
What we need mostly is authors. You don’t need to write x reviews per day, any number of reviews will work. You can write when you have time, without any pressure. We’d like to review every popular app out there, so a large number of authors are welcome. Other forms of support are more than welcome too, like designers, people running the social media accounts etc.
I still need to polish the website a bit, and we need to put average author ratings instead of single author rating. Game reviews and sections need an update too. The site is currently in beta, until we finish those things.
You can visit the website at HQAndroid.com
All suggestions and critiques are more than welcome.
Hi. I am interested in writing for your website. Can you please guide me on how to apply for it and get started?

Going to send you a message now.
Regards,
Its a fine site mate, well done. Ill visit regularly.
Do you offer devs reviews? If so what sort of audience do you have?
Sure, all devs are free to submit their review. We'll check it before posting.
Well currently there is hardly something you can call an audience. We haven't advertised anywhere (prior to this XDA post or reddit) so we're slowly trying to build it.

Hi,
Don't know if this is the place but I fancy the thought of helping with the development of an android app or game.
I just want to take part in the growing android market.
And because I know very little about programming, I wish to make this announcement:
For more than five years I worked as a graphic designer and I am a currently unemployed. I am specialized within all areas of design from user interface to web design and 3D. Therefore, I want to take part in in any app or game.[/B]
I will not work for free if the app is a paid app or has in app purchasing.
rplus4immer[at]yahoo[dot]com is my email.
All the best,
N.
Nice gesture and great initiative.
Still here.
i offer mine too! can we collaborate in one big group ?
can i help.. maybe i can test it loll
I'm currently working on mClock but I have also been looking into doing a super metroid style game if you're interested in helping me.
Hello, if you wanna make a new UI for the FriendsRadar App on the Android Market, we give it for free, and put the names of the collaborators on the About screen.
Let me know.
I already was contacted by a few folks and took on my first project. I hope others will follow. Don't be shy to ask for my help for whatever graphics you would need, though .
Replied to everybody who contacted me to this date. Hope I didn't miss anyone
Thank you all.
I'm an Android and iOS app developer in need of some graphic designers to design some icons and glyphs.
Well, let's see it. Send me via email the details of the free app so I can play around with it and see what can be done.
rplus4immer[at]yahoo[dot]com is my email.
kudos to you for doing this

Do you have an iDevice to test it out on? The iOS version is actually much more mature than the Android one and I'm planning on releasing the iOS version first.
No, I don't. As I stated, I want to help the development of free android apps and games.
If whatever you are developing has a free android version, I'm the man to see.
Now available mainly for hard body (lowpoly or not) 3D Modeling/Texturing.
Sadly, I am now unemployed and I will have a greater amount of free time on my hands.
I will now also take on paid projects as well ( where the case ). So feel free to drop me a line.
Thanks!
Hi,
We're always going to have noobs at XDA. We understand that for mods, devs, and senior members, answering very basic questions is going to be repetitive and frustrating. To partially address this issue, we've always wanted to put together a fun and interesting guide/tutorial/faq for new users to the site--to explain what XDA is all about. The problem has been that--if we're going to do this--we want it done well. We want it to be complete, well-written, graphical, etc. It would be many many pages of content. The bigger problem is that we've never had a budget to pay someone skilled to write it.
A major publisher approached us recently about creating an XDA-branded book that details and explains the world of smartphones, ROMs, etc. Because the publisher would pay for the book to be written (standard advance plus royalty arrangement), we can finally "afford" to create the guide we've always wanted. Our goal would be to make important parts of the book available for free on XDA (as a resource for new users). The only problem now is that we need an author.
Tech books are NOT big moneymakers, but if any long-time XDA member is interested in a fun, paid writing project, send me an email to xda.svetius(at)gmail.com. The email, subject "Writers Wanted", should include your name, qualifications, and a short proposal for what you'd like to cover in the book or how you'd like to organize it. We expect to get a bunch of applications, so don't be offended if you aren't chosen. Note: If you have to ask how much you'd be getting paid, then you probably won't be too excited by the answer . You'll make a bit of dough and be able to brag about being a published author.
Thanks
This is fantastic news!!

I WOULD LOVE TO DO THIS! I have a passion for writing that has consumed my entire life. Please take a look at some of my posts here on the site (keeping in mind that there are a couple of which I didn't put any creative thought into, as well as those containing references to gangsta rap and other adult themed content). In any case, I'd be more than happy to email some of my writing to any one of you who would have the time to review it. I'm currently in the process of writing a memoir, and I would absolutely be willing to share the first chapter to provide you with an example of my personal style. Thanks for considering me!!

will be sending all requested information and sample work this afternoon to the provided email address!!
I just sent my info in. Hopefully I can etch a bit of my style on windows phone specifically
I am currently developing a couple applications for android. I just released my first one which you can see in my signature but I have a few questions before I release my next application which will be the "big one" I guess you could say. I am having a hard time getting exposure for my current application mainly due to the fact I think that I have not submitted it to the Android Market. I have submitted it to GetJar where I was accepted and it is currently under review at the Amazon App Store. I am trying to earn enough for the $25 fee for publishing to the Android Market but I can't get to this goal with people downloading my current application and viewing ads. So my question is what is the best way to get people to download my app?
- You can make a thread about the app in the Paid Software Announcement and Discussion section.
- If your app is innovative, special and high quality you can email Gizmodo/Lifehacker/AndroidCentral/Phandroid/Droid-Life and ask if they can write about it.
That's about the things i can think of that doesn't cost anything.
Thanks for the suggestions! I am trying to gain some by posting about my developments and programming on my blog which seems to be helping a little bit but I am having a hard time gaining downloads. I will try a few suggestions with my next app and see how it goes.
This thread is interesting although it's old.
Why Didn't you consider the advertising option.
Android APP developer needed
$150 Good Faith base once project is started and then Revenue Share 50/50 Split
Already have desktop website with 10,000 Members , 100,000 Monthly Uniques to our website and 1 million page views...so a Base of Buyers is already in Place on top of Android Market
Fuel Stations locator Map (and list view) ..with Prices
User should see x amount of Stations in a select-able radius
User should either be able to Login/or register
User should then be able to Post Prices
Members can have Favorites list
odds and ends
Already have database ..and hopefully you can just reuse some coding from the websites pages
I have neither the talent , time , energy or money to do this on my own.. essentially looking for someone to develop and maintain the APP side of our Business as their "baby" and simply handle the odd and end issues that arise , basic maintenance , keeping the APP updated as Android is updated etc ...
I provide database / data / members TRAFFIC ..
So a nice 50/50 split
Anyone interested in a revenue share on a APP project like this please PM me
Thanks !
Are you allowed to post ads like this here? I take this down just a safe.

That's kind of funny lowend.. I am offering to pay for a service and your not sure if that's allowed.. but it is allowed to ask fro free work on xda..(handful of developers and a whole bunch of us looking for /demanding the next free release of xyz ..me included)
I know what you mean though I didn't see a "marketplace" or" Developers for Hire"..so posted here and let the Moderators sort it out.. what ever they need to do is fine..
There is a job listing in the marketplace might want to try there

Hello dear fellow XDA members
About 2 months ago, I got interested in Android App Development. Having no Java experience, I looked around the internet for tutorials on it.
Fast forward to today and here I am, able to make some basic yet useful applications. I've been thinking about making a few bucks by in-app advertising and in-app purchases. I have a few questions:
1) Do you think it is advisable to put ads in my app? What if the number of downloads are pretty good?
2 How many downloads should I have on my app so as to put ads in my app successfully?
3) Is admob free? Are there any fees that I have to pay so as to get ads on my app?
4) How, where and which type of adds will I get for my app? Is there some specific procedure to go through so as to add advertisements to my app?
Answers to the above questions and a basic step-by-step (along with all the money I have to pay for ads) mini tutorial of how advertising should be done would be very helpful
Thanks in advance
p.s. XDA is awesome :"D
Why you even want to put ads in your app
make it open source and developers will support you and you will get many donates for you

Thanks but that wasn't the type of answer I was looking for.
Anyways, I was just curious about the ads part. I'll give a thought bout making it open source. Maybe sometime later but not now.
So if you could just clarify my doubts based on the ads part, I'd be very thankful

Hey try this out, its a link to a Google search page. I looked a couple of the results - it will be a better answer than you've been getting.

So if you'd answer my questions regarding ads, I'd be satisfied

Umm, how is app of the day related to advertising?
It's something different as far as I know.
Could someone please answer my questions regarding the ads part?
Thanks

You can try asking some companies.

Surprise-surprise. I already did use Google. Didn't get any proper answers that could satisfy me. Hence I asked.
Again, thanks for the piping hot answers etc etc
This is a quote from another developer from the Unity forums. The link is at the end of the quote, I copied and pasted this is unaltered.
"I hear the average cost to acquire a new user via AdMob is about $2 per user. If you charge $1 buck per game (earning yourself 70c,) that's definitively not cost effective, and worse: the $2 is more of an average based on the fact that most people using AdMob are freemium games. If you are actually selling your game, it's very likely fewer users will even look at your game even if they click on the ad.*
Download a game with ads, and look at what gets promoted. There is a reason why most the stuff there are free games. Not to mention: if a user is seeing those ads, it's very likely because they rather see ads than pay to buy the ad-free version, what makes you think that kind of user will click on an ad to BUY a game. However, many may get a free game, and once playing, the game may employ psychological games to trigger the gambling urge to spend money with IAP."

Hope that helps on one of your questions. I research, I'm not a developer. There was a lot more that I found, but I can't do all the work.?
Change your keywords up.
