I offer my graphic design skills. - Android Apps and Games

Hi,
Don't know if this is the place but I fancy the thought of helping with the development of an android app or game.
I just want to take part in the growing android market.
And because I know very little about programming, I wish to make this announcement:
For more than five years I worked as a graphic designer and I am a currently unemployed. I am specialized within all areas of design from user interface to web design and 3D. Therefore, I want to take part in in any app or game.[/B]
I will not work for free if the app is a paid app or has in app purchasing.
rplus4immer[at]yahoo[dot]com is my email.
All the best,
N.

Nice gesture and great initiative.

Still here.

i offer mine too! can we collaborate in one big group ?

can i help.. maybe i can test it loll

I'm currently working on mClock but I have also been looking into doing a super metroid style game if you're interested in helping me.

Hello, if you wanna make a new UI for the FriendsRadar App on the Android Market, we give it for free, and put the names of the collaborators on the About screen.
Let me know.

I already was contacted by a few folks and took on my first project. I hope others will follow. Don't be shy to ask for my help for whatever graphics you would need, though .
Replied to everybody who contacted me to this date. Hope I didn't miss anyone
Thank you all.

I'm an Android and iOS app developer in need of some graphic designers to design some icons and glyphs.

Well, let's see it. Send me via email the details of the free app so I can play around with it and see what can be done.
rplus4immer[at]yahoo[dot]com is my email.

kudos to you for doing this

Do you have an iDevice to test it out on? The iOS version is actually much more mature than the Android one and I'm planning on releasing the iOS version first.

No, I don't. As I stated, I want to help the development of free android apps and games.
If whatever you are developing has a free android version, I'm the man to see.

Now available mainly for hard body (lowpoly or not) 3D Modeling/Texturing.

Sadly, I am now unemployed and I will have a greater amount of free time on my hands.
I will now also take on paid projects as well ( where the case ). So feel free to drop me a line.
Thanks!

Designer for your apps - Free

Hi
Currently web & print designer, I recently felt in love with Android. I will soon switch from Blackberry to a Nexus One.
Thus, I just post a thread to offer my help by designing your apps' layout.
Of course, for free. But in a first time, I will only give my help for apps that will be released for free.
Yeah, I know what you're thinking. But yes, I'm an actual freelance graphic designer, but I don't want to ask money for this. Most of developpers take on their free time to give free apps, and I understand they have no money to give to a designer. This is these developpers I want to help.
Please feel free to visit my portfolio (link in my profile )
There isn't apps designing examples, but I hope there will be some soon
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions, and same way I'm waiting for your projects
See you soon !
Feel free to ask any question.
I'm ready to get involved in your projects
Kind heart yet nobody wishes you to help. Strange eh? I think its great you offered your expertise for free.
I am amazed more people have not taken you up on your offer yet either!
Your designs look great. Although, I am not too shabby with graphics, it is always great to get a fresh eye and skill set involved. Do you have problems with ad supported apps?
Also, I have an app that I would actually like to translate to French.
I might take you up on this offer when I get my Android device in a month or so and start modding/developing for Android. I'm not quite that good with graphics.

Plants VS Zombies

This game is on Pc has it been ported to HD2 cant find anything on search but looks basic and pretty good.
I'm afraid that there is no winmo port nor any news about it, however it would be one of the coolest games for hd2 ever.
Might be able to get the swf file from the website version of the game running via flash lite on the hd2 (not tried)
That sucks why does the crappy iphone have all the good apps. Would be amazing if the HD2 could port the whole apple appstore
been waiting for this to be released on our HD2 for quite a while now.

Probably because winmo phone owners don't support the microsoft app store enough to entice enough professional developers to put in the effort. They're happy to insult it even though its success/failure is probably related to the life blood of the windows mobile platform and their phone. I don't like Itunes/iphone as it is a horriblly closed platform - but millions buy from its app store so professional developers write for it and the platform (in terms of apps) flourishes. Yes, we've got a great freeware scene on windows mobile - but that doesn't attract professional developers who want to pay their bills with their talent.
I'd be interested to know why some of the best apps on XDA aren't on there - not every winmo/hd2 phone owner is going to go via XDA (unfortunately) but most will load up the app store at one point or another - xda could make a big difference to the perception of the microsoft app store (and hence the windows mobile platform as a whole) by releasing their best apps there too. Snowballs don't roll unless they're pushed.

Its rather costly to put apps on Marketplace. And for the people who like to create free apps, it's counterproductive.
let's face it, winmo users have been used to sideloading apps for a decade...it isn't gonna change anytime soon.

I dare to say You are talking bull* sir... even if it works (I wasn't lucky enough to get through ad video) then I doubt if it's playable.
sigh... zuma 1.50 is so damn great.... imagine having pvz in Your pocket with same top notch quality.

This will change with WM7. Unfortunately, no backwards compatibility.
IMO, winmo users are completely different with Winphone 7 users
So "it's not gonna change anytime soon" quite right

It's not costly at all to put apps on marketplace. You can get five apps put on marketplace for just $99. My first app made that $99 back on the 1st night it went on sale (and that's just a UK only one) with four app submissions still to go included in the price. Even apps at the most minimal cost will recoup that 99. Why is their such a negative feeling to (our own) the microsoft app store. Especially from us! It's better T&C's than the apple one - and that one we're completely jealous of! We're our own enemy.
XDA could get behind our app store, support it, and be a massive contributor to it!, but mainly just stop insulting it or criticising it, or only ever mentioning the freeware app stores - we're the only ones who'll end up suffering for it if it never grows and therefore never attracts more quality apps and therefore our platform just dies from lack of professional developer support. I love winmo, but phones these days are being judged by their app stores, just look at http://best-apps.t3.com/ as an example - it doesn't make any mention of the thousands of freeware winmo apps available, or xda apps, just what is in the official app store - and it's lack of apps there is making winmo look crap.
I really wish too that some of the top app writers from the iphone would port some of their wonderful apps, but I can also see why they don't bother with the way the app store is perceived at the moment.
XDA could make a real difference to our platform - but I'm worried we prefer to 'hide away' in our web site with a superior look on our faces rather than actually getting out and showing the world what hd2's etc. can really do.
it works on iphone

App contest!

I've just updated my Payday Android app and I'd like to start a new project. As they say, necessity is the mother of all invention so I'm asking you guys. What kind of app would you most benefit from? What app have you longed for that just isn't out there yet, or if its out there and doesn't meet your needs. I want you guys to send me PM's or Email at [email protected]gmail.com with your ideas for an Android application. I'll take suggestions for the next week or so and pick several realistic ones. I'll then add those to a poll and let you guys vote on which one you want, or the one you would get the most use out of. The person who made the original suggestion will get a special prize and a free copy of the app once its finished.
In the case of more than one person suggests the Same winning App, the first person who contacted me with the idea will get the prize, however everyone who contacted me with the winning idea will get a copy of it free.
And please send me a PM or Email because I've read too many articles about forum lurkers on here snatching ideas, so this should help deter that somewhat. So let the suggestions roll. Thanks guys.
I think it's best idea
I know that people looking for call recording app on Froyo (Android 2.2).
There is idea that OS don't let this, but, maybe, you so good programmer that is not prolem for you.
Ill add it to the submit list, thanks.
So, what you are saying is you want a bunch of ideas on new apps from people and you want them all to your self, by offering up some free t-shirt or something?
Nice. Wish I'd thought of it.
I'm thinking a tax helper, for like tax season lol. And help with balancing your checkbook and junk. Sounds good.

Need help with Facebook Sized project.

Hi guys. My name is Joseph Truax, and I am working on an Android Exclusive Social Network.
We have a prototype, that my project manager has made for us, but, he needs money to get our working product started. $15,000 gets the app made.
I am looking for someone, or a few someone's, that would be interested in taking on this task for equity.
We have valued each 1% of equity at $11,666. For the work that you would be doing, I will offer at least 3% of the products equity, or, 1.5 million shares of stock.
I would just need you to follow the guide of our prototype. I have almost all the questions that you may have, answered.
This is a mash up that we are creating. We have consolidated some very popular websites, into a simple and easy Social Media, that replaces having to go and check 8 different sites.
We really need someone that would be interested in being part of the next huge service. What we have is really awesome, and will be around for a nice, long time.
The final thing, Facebook is where you go, to talk to the friends you have. Our network is where you go, to MEET new friends. I am pretty sure, that you will absolutely love it. Thank you guys, for your time.
Pm me

Probable Billions. The numbers add up.
You guys, this is a 3 month project at the most. I will give you what you deserve. I don't really care about the money. I care about the change that can be made with the money. This is a big deal. Anyone in America interested? Please, for the love of god, PM me!

[Q] Advertising my first app

Hello dear fellow XDA members
About 2 months ago, I got interested in Android App Development. Having no Java experience, I looked around the internet for tutorials on it.
Fast forward to today and here I am, able to make some basic yet useful applications. I've been thinking about making a few bucks by in-app advertising and in-app purchases. I have a few questions:
1) Do you think it is advisable to put ads in my app? What if the number of downloads are pretty good?
2 How many downloads should I have on my app so as to put ads in my app successfully?
3) Is admob free? Are there any fees that I have to pay so as to get ads on my app?
4) How, where and which type of adds will I get for my app? Is there some specific procedure to go through so as to add advertisements to my app?
Answers to the above questions and a basic step-by-step (along with all the money I have to pay for ads) mini tutorial of how advertising should be done would be very helpful
Thanks in advance
p.s. XDA is awesome :"D
Why you even want to put ads in your app
make it open source and developers will support you and you will get many donates for you

Thanks but that wasn't the type of answer I was looking for.
Anyways, I was just curious about the ads part. I'll give a thought bout making it open source. Maybe sometime later but not now.
So if you could just clarify my doubts based on the ads part, I'd be very thankful

So if you'd answer my questions regarding ads, I'd be satisfied

Umm, how is app of the day related to advertising?
It's something different as far as I know.
Could someone please answer my questions regarding the ads part?
Thanks

You can try asking some companies.

Surprise-surprise. I already did use Google. Didn't get any proper answers that could satisfy me. Hence I asked.
Again, thanks for the piping hot answers etc etc
This is a quote from another developer from the Unity forums. The link is at the end of the quote, I copied and pasted this is unaltered.
"I hear the average cost to acquire a new user via AdMob is about $2 per user. If you charge $1 buck per game (earning yourself 70c,) that's definitively not cost effective, and worse: the $2 is more of an average based on the fact that most people using AdMob are freemium games. If you are actually selling your game, it's very likely fewer users will even look at your game even if they click on the ad.*
Download a game with ads, and look at what gets promoted. There is a reason why most the stuff there are free games. Not to mention: if a user is seeing those ads, it's very likely because they rather see ads than pay to buy the ad-free version, what makes you think that kind of user will click on an ad to BUY a game. However, many may get a free game, and once playing, the game may employ psychological games to trigger the gambling urge to spend money with IAP."

Hope that helps on one of your questions. I research, I'm not a developer. There was a lot more that I found, but I can't do all the work.?
Change your keywords up.
