Yes, it was working fine for 2 weeks..

Very odd. I suppose you've tried toggling the navbar off/on?

I remember that i was using the hardware buttons and suddenly the home button stopped functioning even though it was vibrating, so i switched on the nav bar buttons and saw the two buttons missing.

It might be time to reflash, or even flash the stock images.

Three-Button Method for Booting to Recovery

Hold volume up and home buttons and power up to boot to recovery.
I did not discover this, just found it buried in a thread somewhere and thought it should have higher visibility.
Awesome find. Thanks!
Great job

On another note the menu back button is not working for me in cwm. Is anyone else having this problem?

Yes, for some reason CWM is not recognizing the button mappings. It is on my TO-DO list

I hold the volume up and home key and then power till the samsung logo comes on, then release power. About 5 sec later I release volume up and home and it boots to CWR.
Hope this helps

If you scroll through the menu 3x it will enable go back. Once you select an option it will show up on the menu
Thanks OP for this info. Was able to test on a friend's Charge and it worked. Scrolling through the menu 3x also enabled the Go Back option in the menu.

[Q] Bootloader Froze. Fastboot not working. Please help!

Hi,
My Nexus S was working great and suddenly the power button stopped working, now when I try to flash anything via fastboot it freezes at the bootloader screen, the volume keys don't work just there.
I wanted to flash stock ICS bootloader, radio and ROM but I guess there's no way to flash without fastboot? adb works though.
Thanks for your help!

Is your power button failing by any chance? If the power button fails and stay in a clicked position, you will not be able to scroll.
No, the power button, physically, is perfect, just as it was before. it just doesn't 'function' anymore.

So it works or it doesn't work? That's what I mean by failing, when it stops working, you will not be able to scroll in fastboot mode because it's stuck as clicked in. In fastboot you cannot send 2 keystrokes at the same time, so as long as the power button is stuck you're out of luck.
Sometimes playing with the power button will make it unstuck, sometimes it will not. It's a very common problem with the Nexus S. Some people had decent luck opening up their Nexus and cleaning the power button while others sent their phone to repair.
No, it does not function. BUT, what I'm thinking is, if i the power button was CLICKED then the first option is "Restart Bootloader" and it would have been auto-selected resulting in a reboot-loop, but I do see the bootloader screen and it doesn't disappear until I remove the battery and restart.

That's not how it works though. It's constantly clicked, not as clicking only once the bootloader appears. I know it's strange, but it's really a well known issue.
If you remove the battery and put it back in, does your phone start automatically? That's also a sign the power button is stuck.
No, If I remove the battery and reinsert, it does NOT autostart unless its also connected to the PC via USB.

Alright. Does not necessarily mean the button isn't stuck though.
Do you have a custom recovery? If you use Clockworkmod or TWRP, you can flash nearly anything from there, rom, radio and so on as long as they're zipped in a way one of these recovery will understand.
If you are still able to boot your rom and it's rooted, but you don't have a custom recovery, you can flash one from within Android.
Oh, I thought you could only flash bootloader, radio and ROM via fastboot, atleast thats how I did so far. I download factory images and they come as .img files, is there anywhere I can find a flashable stock ICS .zip?
Yes, I can boot into the stock JB rom, and yes I can even access clockwork recovery.

You were doing it the good way though, fastboot is a very strong utility.
Here's one flashable with CWM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569509&highlight=rom
ONLY for GSM Nexus S. Not for 4G. This is really important.
One more way I was able to confirm that the phone indeed freezes on bootloader is that adb commands are accepted on the home screen or on CWM (./adb reboot bootloader for example), but neither adb nor fastboot works on the bootloader (error: device not found).
I opened the phone to clean the power button as you suggested, but its already quite clean, there's nothing to do there. However, I broke my sim tray in the process! :'(
Now, no power button and no network!

Ouch! That's not good at all. :|
Some people blast the button with compressed air or clean it with isopropyl alcohol.

My phones screen won't wake.

My phones screen seems to shut off and not wake up. I can tell the phone is on though because the buttons light up. And if I press and hold the back button the flashlight turns on. Also the volume rockers seemed to work but the screen stays off. Occasionally it seems to turn back on but but it'll just go back off again. Rebooting the phone doesn't working and I've also installed two different ROMs on it. Any advice on how to solve this?
Relock bootloader with fastboot oem lock cmd and download and run the ruu according to your phone version and see if the problem persists. If you don't know how to get into fast boot hold power and volume down until buttons stop flashing and keep holding volume down till you get See the screen with skating HTC men. Or if you have a backup in recovery you can restore from recovery and see if that helps your problem.

I was hoping I wasn't going to have to do that but I will if its my only option.
Kernel mods will do that also.

Haven't messed with any kernels. I was running the latest CM10 nightly when it happened. Figured it was the rom so I switched to the stable version but problems still happened.

No. No backups unfortunately.
My other suggestions would be to make sure you don't have a corrupt zip. Downloading from chrome or from you phone I've had issues. Ei8 or ie9 works well for me. Hope you get it figured out.

That was happening to my phone. I found that if i applied pressure to opposite corners at the same time, the screen would come back. If i let go, the screen would return to black. Everything worked when I touched the screen, volume rockers, etc. I took it into AT&T and they gave me a new one under warranty. I was running CleanRom 5.1 at the time. I honestly do not believe my problem was caused by over flashing or any type of hacking. SO, try to flex or contort the phone in different directions and see if you can cause it to turn on and off.
I ended up having to use RUU. The problem seems to be fixed. Still don't know what caused it but at least it wasn't a hardware issue.
A thanks would be nice

I appreciate you taking the time to help. And anyone for that matter but unfortunately the problem is still there. Might have to return it. Hopefully I won't get any issues from ATT for being rooted.

Camera Settings Crash

So I'm trying to go into my camera settings and every time I do, it closes and goes back to where you would take a picture. I have tried to clear my cache, restart my phone. Nothing seems to work
Has anyone experienced this issue and if so how do you fix it? I have the TMobile version of the s8

It works in safe mode but not regular mode. Must be one of the apps I installed that is interfering with it.
Go to your Settings Icon (open) and scroll down to Developer options (open) and then scroll down to: Do not keep activities - (turn it off). Now open your Camera, click on the settings icon... it will stay open and you can now fully use CAMERA SETTINGS.
Good evening guys,
I post here my problem, to not open another topic:
I flashed latest "G950FXXU6DSK9", TWRP, "no verity encrypt" and Magisk.
When I use TItanium backup to delete some apps (probably Samsung's file manager or Chrome) the camera crash.
Ex. Opening the camera app, or trying via Whatsapp, screen its totally black with only the buttons of the camera.
The phone works fine now, but I want to know what should be the problem, if its caused by deleting apps or its caused by TWRP or rootin procedure not compatible with the current firmware.
Thank you for reading it and sorry for my bad english
