Camera Settings Crash - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

So I'm trying to go into my camera settings and every time I do, it closes and goes back to where you would take a picture. I have tried to clear my cache, restart my phone. Nothing seems to work
Has anyone experienced this issue and if so how do you fix it? I have the TMobile version of the s8

It works in safe mode but not regular mode. Must be one of the apps I installed that is interfering with it.

Go to your Settings Icon (open) and scroll down to Developer options (open) and then scroll down to: Do not keep activities - (turn it off). Now open your Camera, click on the settings icon... it will stay open and you can now fully use CAMERA SETTINGS.

Good evening guys,
I post here my problem, to not open another topic:
I flashed latest "G950FXXU6DSK9", TWRP, "no verity encrypt" and Magisk.
When I use TItanium backup to delete some apps (probably Samsung's file manager or Chrome) the camera crash.
Ex. Opening the camera app, or trying via Whatsapp, screen its totally black with only the buttons of the camera.
The phone works fine now, but I want to know what should be the problem, if its caused by deleting apps or its caused by TWRP or rootin procedure not compatible with the current firmware.
Thank you for reading it and sorry for my bad english

Epic Recovery Mode & Download Mode

Just FYI in case anyone wants to know:
For download mode, with the phone turned off, phold the number 1 key on the QWERTY keyboard and the power button simultaneously
For recovery mode, with the phone turned off, hold Volume Down, CAmera, and Power simultaneously.
You navigate with volume UP/DOWN, select with HOME, Menu toggles to "Manual Mode", whatever that it.
Enjoy

What is download mode?
Download mode is the mode you put the phone into to be able to flsh new software to it from a pc. Anyone going to this phone from the Moment will know exactly what it is.
is it a ms-mount?

Mass Storage mount... Basically, does download mode turn it into a mass storage USB device?
Oh I gotcha. No it does not.
had epic 2.1.1 rooted with one-click method from sdx, seemed fine after superuser and busybox install or several hours.
HOWEVER, after installing Lauchad (maybe coincidence), my phone went into a cont. reboot every 30sec about. I managed to uninstall some recent apps with no avail.
I am doing a recovery/wipe-factory now....seems hung at little image of package opening with droid logo....
Should I force power-cycle?
Thanks!
I entered Download Mode and its stocked at Downloading. Do not turn off target. Is this the main screen?
Edit: Yes. Thats the Main Screen.
Hmm.. So we only need someone to create the Update.zip?
Quick question. I entered download mode.. I got the downloading! do not turn off target!!! How do I get out of this screen??

Either use Odin to flash a new rom, or pull your battery out of the phone. As long as it's not mid-flash, you can turn it off without consequence. Obviously if you were flashing a rom, you wouldn't want to be pulling the battery out in the middle of it, of course...
FYI this mode isn't something anyone should need to access regularly. Please see this post for more information on the use of Download mode and how to return your phone to stock.

Update.zip? You mean for Recovery mode? No, that's not necessary for custom roms or anything... You would want to use Clockwork recovery, not the stock recovery, and the .zip can be named anything. Update.zip is generally how the stock recovery flashes an OTA update after it's downloaded. If I recall, it has to pass a checksum before it'd flash - you couldn't just zip some files together and call it "update.zip" and expect it to work. With Clockwork Recovery you would.
Thank you very much... Yeah it was not mid flash, which would be way worse. I am just getting accustomed to all the different menus and various screens. I got into the mode, just to give it a try and was worried about just pulling the battery. Didnt think it would really matter since i wasnt flashing or anything. But figured I would ask first to save some headaches. Trying to read up and learn all I can about this thing. Clockworked and rooted, getting ready for the first rom go!

[Q] No shutdown menu after 2.3.5 update

Hey,
I just got the Android 2.3.5 update and now all of a sudden I can't turn off/restart the phone. The shutdown menu doesn't appear at all when long-pressing the power button, it just shuts off the screen when releasing it.
Anyone else had this problem? Solutions?
(The phone is pretty new and has the stock rom without root or any other changes).
I'm having the same problem, but running a rooted desire (not s) with gingercakes 0.8f kernel and Cool3D AceS v2a!

Well, I also did a Factory Restore, which indeed solved the problem, but after installing all my apps the menu is gone again. Im trying to find out which app is making the problem.

Maybe Tasker?
It's HTC bug. Wait for fix.
~Swaypovano sa Desire S BRE!~
I hope they'll fix it.
Today I wrote an email to polish technical support and they just told me to send the phone to repair.

Yep, you're right, it did solve the problem. Slightly annoying solution though
take screenshot feature
I don't know if this is connected to the bug or not, but I think HTC increased the time we have to keep the POWER button pressed for the menu to show up just to "make some room" for the new screenshot feature:
In any menu/application try to keep the POWER button down and quickly press the HOME button (left-bottom most button, below the screen) - a screenshot of what you have on the screen is saved on /sdcard/DCIM.

Radu
no need for factory restore:
Setting -> Security -> Use secure credentials.
Tick the box, long press the power button then go back and untick the secure credentials tickbox again and all works as it should
My God, it works, but how come ?
Thankx

I use CWM that you get after you root your phone.
quick boot
I hold down the power button for 2sec to get the shutdown menu and if I hold it for more than 5sec it will reboot... I don't see why I need an app for that
anreboot: reboot, recovery, bootloader, off options

i'd rather press soft keys
If you don't have a rooted phone try 'Fast Reboot'.
Although it does not close the device down it closes all Apps freeing up resources, memory and resets the phone if it has any errors.
Read the reviews... Many swear by it and I find it actually works very well.

Strange... It should reboot. Are you rooted or changed the stock firmware?
Quick boot does what you want by the sound of it. Free version on market.
Can set short cuts up as well if you don't want to go into the app itself.
Although for any app to trigger reboot you need root.

[Q] Stuck on boot screen

Hi, my Shield is stuck on its boot screen, the one with the green shield and the mist whatever. I've tried restarting it but nothing is happening. I don't even know what caused it, I just picked it up and opened it and it was on its boot screen. Last thing I knew before it, it was working perfectly fine. I don't have recovery installed... It is rooted but I doubt that would cause this... any help?

That's happened to me before.have you tried leaving it off for a few minutes and then restarting it. maybe try while its on the charger. If that doesn't solve it I would attempt to boot into stock recovery and perform a FDR. either way someone will get you back up and running again.

I left it off all night and after I turned it on again this morning it's still stuck. I've tried it both on and off the charger, won't work either way.

Well yes, I hold home and back when I turn it on, and it brings me to a screen with these options:
Continue
Restart Bootloader
Recovery mode
Reboot
Poweroff
Selecting "Recovery mode" just brings me to a screen that says "no command". I tried doing various button commands to try and make something happen, but nothing happens.

I realize that but Keep trying there's a two button combo to get the RECOVERY MENU to show up. If you can't get it I'll go get my shield and flash the stock recovery so i can figure it out.

you shouldnt disable standby it was clear in the instrution the other option is to make call to ur phone from another and then use the notification drag from top to change the launcher you can go to display and home options to change the launcher... or the worst option boot the phone on home screen do a adb from desktop and delete the home launcher in the system/app
