Can anyone link me the latest 4.4 KDZ for TWN or SEA?
Yeah I can Google, but not sure which sites I can trust. (Yeah, I'm more willing to trust random xda users instead! )
Thank you!

Thank you.
Finally I have root, recovery, Xposed, and PIE controls. And a working silent mode with an alarm clock!
KitKat feels like the future, when you compare it to Lollipop.

Perhaps this would bring some cheers to the occasion :
Xposed Coming Soon on Lollipop claims the author.

Yeah I heard the news, but rovo been saying all along that we will get a Lollipop Xposed sometime. Too bad we cannot slupport him financially for his work.
Anyway. Lollipop was a huge battery hog for me.
I started my day with 100% at 4 am.
At 2pm, my phone was dead.
While I did have 2 hours of screen time, and 15 minutes of Maps, this is an outrageous decrease. With Kitkat, this phone is a beast. They also removed the Qslide Quick Memo. Which I loved.
I really waited for this update, and sure it looks great.
But both Google and LG messed up a bit.
I just hope that the 5.1 will fix the issue, and that we will get it in a timely manner.

Well, 2 hours of screen on time is a very poor performance. What kind of usage did you make, 3G/LTE or wifi?
I got back to KitKat too because I wanted to try and see the difference between the two OS. So far I noticed that KK is not as snappy as Lollipop, however the battery life is better, I would say around 15-20%. Anyways I managed to make 6 hours of screen on time with lollipop under wifi, and 4,30 on 3G, not bad at all.
I was on the road, so the phone was switching, but its still a huge drop.
To be honest, if I disable animations on Kitkat, there is no lag, no wait, nothing.
Its snappy as hell. Lollipop just had more animations, like iOS and its false feel of speed.
Well, I could also use my ZeroLemon too.
But no lock screen widget, messed up sound profiles, and no Qslide Quick Memo?
This is anything but an upgrade.
The fancy effects dont worth it.

Are you sure about Qslide and Quick Memo? I think they are still there, maybe you should go to the toggles menu and flag them.
Im sure. You can open a drawing app, but the mini notes view whereyou can write notes (and read old ones!!!) Is gone. I use this app daily, its awesome. Very comfy for multitasking, calls, everything. Try it yourself.
Ps.: Attached a few screenshots. It's just so damn convenient. Best feature on this phone. Or one of the best ones, but you get the idea.
If they fix this, I will be on Lollipop forever.
Oh ok, now I see what you mean. Yes you are right, it looks like they took it off the Qslide menu. Hopefully they will fix it in the next update, I agree that it's a very useful tool.
No probs. And thank you guys for the KDZ / download link.
Had to reflash my phone, but it had so many junk files already, that it's not a big issue.
(Wish I did a full backup with TitaniumBackup or something. I always forget about it. Damn.)

There's a quick memo + that you can have it displayed in mini view, but you can't browse through few memos and you can't write directly from the mini view.

Hello,
Can i ask some question? Do you downgrade from lollipop to kitkat? Any method for flashing the KDZ or just simply flash KDZ by LG flash tool?
I just want to back to kitkat too, but im to afraid to flash it, because i read so much post that say if i simply flash kitkat KDZ above lollipop, i will get bootloop evend brick the phone :'(
Thank you so much for the answer

Just grab the kdz of 4.4. Whatever variant.
Download the tool, plug in your phone.
Unlock your lock screen, press start in tool.
DO NOT CLOSE THE TOOL OR CLICK ANYTHING ONCE IT STARTS TO COUNT FROM 0%.
On my pc, the tool showed me some error. If I clicked it, the flashing stopped. And the tool also crashed at 30% or so.
So anyway. Watch your phone, and once it hits 100%,and it boots, you can close stuff on your pc.
LG phones are rock solid from what I have seen so far.
You can restart flashing countless times, go back and forth between versions, and its virtually impossible to brick these phones.
Try that with a Samsung. Lol.
I know, but as you said, its much dumber than the old Memo app.
By the way some people reported better battery life with Lollipop. But for me, Kitkat lasts 10x longer. I can easily do 1.5 days with normal use, while L did not last wven half a day. (I closed recent apps, and I dont use any "social" apps.)

Download mode? Just have the phone at your home screen.
Like you want to copy songs over or anything.
Then start flashing. Phone will THEN boot into download mode, and do stuff.
DO NOT CLOSE THE TOOL AS I SAID ONCE IT STARTS!

Try this first:
Run the tool as administrator. Right-click the .exe file (the LGFlashTool... file), click "Run as Administrator."
If it does not work, try this:
Go into (Windows) Control Panel -> device manager -> look for the "LG Serial Modem" (or something similar) -> Right click... look for the tab where you can click "Advanced", and switch the device to "COM1" or "COM2".
I read this in a tutorial, but I cannot find which one. I also used my other PC. I don't have the universal drivers installed on my main desktop, so I cannot look this up for you.
If you get stuck, message me via XDA, I will reply in minutes if I'm online.
After re-flashing to KitKat, I have an even better battery life than what I had before. Before my phone would run 2 days with 3-4 hours of screen on time.
Now it's at day three, 4 hours of screen time, and it's still got ~20% of juice. Damn I love this phone.
Hope 5.1 will fix the huge drain.

I followed the method to apply this update to my device when it first came out. I ran it for a few days and HATED it. So I restored back to 4.4.2 from my nandroid and all was well, except for the nag that wouldn't go away. I dealt with it for as long as I could before I had to get rid of it. I followed instructions on deleting the update file and renaming something else and then installed Autorun Manager from Play Store and made sure that com.google.android.gsf.update.SystemUpdateService$Receiver was un-checked (which strangely it already was). I rebooted my phone, and the nag was gone so I thought I was in the clear.
Well this AM I take my phone off the pad, and the battery is at 60% which is quite odd for a phone that's been charging for 9 hours, and I see that my data limit setting has been tripped! This thing used like 2 gigs of data in the background under Google Services OVERNIGHT!!! This is ridiculous! This is Android, for crying out loud... I shouldn't be forced to use an update that I didn't like! Or have to install a custom ROM for that matter, which I used to do on my phones (I loved cyanogenmod) but with GravityBox I've been able to do everything I needed to do with the stock ROM. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, however suggesting that I disable background data for Google Services will be unacceptable considering it will break a bunch of other stuff. There's got to be a way around this. Thanks in advance!!!

IDK if it was app incompatibilities, but I had TERRIBLE battery life and constant reboots. My device rebooted at least twice an hour. It was basically unusable. I'm no stranger to these devices and messing around with them, so I'm pretty sure it's not something I did. Normally I like to have the latest and greatest, and visually I did like the little changes. But I couldn't live with it, and I don't feel that Google should be able to nag me to upgrade and then obliterate my data allotment when I take steps to override it. Am I wrong?

Wow that's pretty unusual... As someone who's rooted I understand how much of a pain in the ass OTAs can be, since you liked some of the changes the update brought I think you should give it another shot, though - this time by heading over to the Android Development section, finding a flashable zip of Stock ROM doing a clean install. Don't forget to make a nandroid backup though!

Give it a shot, there are tons of zips now, just a matter of choice. Plus if anything goes wrong, you have a backup.
btw - I'm giving you this advice because I was in a similar position when the update rolled out. I didn't want to update right away because of possible bugs. After a week if nags I flashed a zip someone put together and things have been fine since.
Either way, let me know how it goes!
Another way would be to download the 4.4.3 factory images and flash system, radio, boot. The random reboots will surely stop. I've not yet seen any app which is compatible with 4.4.2 and isn't with .3
PS: While changing android versions, I always prefer to clean install.

Welp, I just clean-flashed the de-odexed 4.4.3 and everything is okay, so far. My device was nearly dead <20% by the time I was done flashing, so I'm gonna let it spend some time on the pad and then see if I have any issues. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Hey guys, I would really appreciate some help with this. My phone is often extremely laggy, to the point that when it's asleep and I get a phone call, it wouldn't wake up for me to be able to answer it (even though I can hear it ringing) until the person calling hangs up. I know TW is famous for being slow but this is just ridiculous. The only thing I have running in the background with the exception of normal TW stuff is the DS Battery Saver module (only set to control wifi/Data, not killing apps) and yet often I can see that the phone is using more than 2.2GB of RAM (after I've killed everything in the task manager). How can this be? Surely the system itself doesn't need THAT much RAM? I shudder to think what phones with a smaller RAM are like.
I'm running the Thunderbolt ROM (basically just deodexed stock 5.0.1) with Xposed and the "Fix Lollipop Memory Leak" module. Is there anything else I can do? I love the design of this phone but I am close to getting rid of it and going back to Sony which was always smooth as silk. I would prefer to stick to the Note though since I love the design and extra functionalities but what use are them if I have enough time to make a cup of coffee every time I try to do something?
It must be your Rom. I used to love to installed custom rom on my S1 and S2. But at the end of the day, custom roms are all buggy.
Sent from my SM-N915T using XDA Free mobile app
I would agree with you but if anything, it was worse when I was on stock which is why I decided to try a custom rom (and I tried many buggy ones before settling on this). I'm not someone who spend my time flashing various roms just to experiment, it's usually because I find the performance or features lacking.
Have you tried to wipe everything and odin back to stock? Im on stock, unroot, and I dont have any issues yet.

Same. I just don't even bother with Custom ROMs except if it gives more battery life. KNowing how hard Samsung has worked to make customization harder, I haven't bothered with custom ROMs for my edge.
Also I too have high RAM usage always but it doesn't make my phone any slower or laggier than past Bloatwiz phones. I am on 4.4.4 stock with a bunch of T Mobile stuff disabled.

Yeah I wonder if I should revert back to KitKat. My phone was great when I first got it, even when I had a whole heap of stuff installed. But maybe I'll wait for 5.1.1 first and see if that helps (the 915G still hadn't received 5.1.1 yet).

From what I have seen, you can no longer downgrade Android once you update to 5.1.1
Suffice it to say I will see if there is a way to stop my phone from auto updating itself. Kit Kat is working well for me and it retains all the native Edge features that made the Edge different.
I was able to get 6.5 hours screen time with my phone with location turned off and a full day of note taking, facebook, and music

No. Not really. Like I said, I One Noted all day with my S pen, music, facebook alot and Chrome. I managed battery by using power saving mode, turning off location and turning off sync and turning it on every hour for about 5 minutes to get my emails in.

So I've been back on stock 4.4.4 for a few days now. It is simply fantastic! The difference is huge! No problems what so ever now. I would like to stay on this for the life of my phone but I am a little concerned about the lack of security updates (such as Stagefright). What are your thoughts on this?
BTW, I noticed that Android system and kernel often takes up the majority of my battery percentage. Each by between 9-16%. Do you get this as well?

And don't worry, i got the stagefright update on 4.4.4 and I was on MetroPCS lol. MetroPCS rides on T Mobile, but its just goes to illustrate that you have nothing to worry about. Glad you are enjoying your Note Edge again. Its a shame Samsung forgot they released this beast of a phone. Imagine this thing with the Note 5's but Edged version of the new TW. Nah, makes too much sense for consumers. Doesn't make sense if you are trying to get people to buy new phones.
Anyways just make sure you never upgrade to 5.1.1 That thing is a point of no return

I can't even begin to describe how happy I am with my phone right now. I remember a couple of months after I first got it, a friend of mine was watching me use it and commented on how snappy it was. Then more recently, not only did the sluggishness drive me crazy, I was watching others with envy, especially my girlfriend who is rocking my old Z1 Compact which still performs like a little rocket. Anyway, I am now back to loving the Note Edge again. I even prefer it over the new Notes, looks and all.
I just want to ask though, how did you manage to get the Stagefright update without updating the firmware? Software Update in the Settings won't allow me to update at all because "the operating system on my device has been modified in an unauthorised way" (I guess they're talking about the root) and Kies 3 tells me there's a new firmware available which I guess is 5.0.1 again (the N915G still doesn't have 5.1.1 as far as I know).

Prompted to install a system update today. I hesitate as hopeful to obtain at least root if not bootloader unlock and don't want an update to stand in the way of that (eventual) process. Any thoughts on this 5/10/16 update from developers and any recommendation on whether it's harmless or perhaps that we should hold off... Thank you.
I would like to know the same

Its harmless because its an official update.
I looked it up and it said it is to improve the interface for visual voice mail, some changes to how you can enter airplane mode so you won't do it by accident, and allow display of data from the active exchange server, whatever that is. Nothing about security, but I would be skeptical. You never know what they might sneak into the update. It didn't sound like any big improvements so I didn't take it.

There's no reason not to take it.
I bought my G5 with the idea that the phone will NEVER be rooted or have an unlocked bootloader. Why? Because LG doesn't sell as well as Samsung or HTC or... and therefore has fewer developers working on unlocking/rooting and it's a very new phone, most newer phones have figured out how to permanently lock the bootloader and prevent rooting.
I certainly hope I'm wrong about this but.... :crying:
My Thunderbolt, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, M8 were bootloader unlocked, rooted and running TWRP and custom ROMs within an hour of getting them home so I had to think long and hard about buying a phone that I believe will never be unlocked or rooted but LG has nothing as horrible as TouchWiz or Sense and Nova Launcher make the phone suit my needs.
FWIW, I took the update yesterday and will take all future updates.

Thank you.

Hopefully @autoprime can take a look at it for us sometime and let us know the rollback situation with the new update. Until he lets me know its safe, I generally stay away!

12A KDZ is out.
You can download it HERE. And as always.. I try to add all KDZ's to http://bit.ly/lgkdzlist
12A does not pop a version fuse... so there should be no issues going back to 11A from 12A as far as I can tell. :good:
I experienced issues after the update that were not there prior to its installation. Double tap to wake became hit or miss, although double tap to sleep worked just fine. And the power button became glitchy as well. On several occasions I couldn't wake the phone with either method and attempted a long press of the power button in order to shut the phone down which would not work. All this after only having had the phone less than 24 hours. Needless to say it went back and a replacement was obtained.
Thus far no problems with the new device but I have yet to install the system update (12A) which has downloaded and is pestering me to run.

Is this your first android phone or something?
No, but seriously, Verizon sends out updates that f*ck things up all the time. Marshmallow ruined my G4 and lollipop ruined my S4. Plus, each update you take makes your chances of getting root that much slimmer, because if a dev has been working to root a phone for X amount of months, they've only been trying it with the software at the beginning of those X amount of months. A security patch could make root impossible until further dev work is done.

In regards to your power button issue, have you noticed that your phone is slower to wake when you have just locked it? If I shut my screen off and quickly flip it back on, there's a good 3+ second delay. Otherwise, doubletap to unlock and finger print to unlock are both pretty much instant if I count a good 2-3 "Mississippi"s ;P

With this G5 I've not experienced the issue you've described, or any of the other issues that plagued the first one I purchased. I've even installed the 12A update which I believed were responsible for the "doubletap" issues. There's no doubt in my mind now that the first device was defective.
The only problem I am experiencing at this point is this nagging sensation that I should give the HTC 10 a comparative look before the end of my 14 day evaluation period lol.
Please Help Me!!

I cleared the update by booting to the bootloader and wiping cache. It rebooted and then I cleared away the unsuccessful update message. Then using adb, I run the short command that @autoprime posted in his topic for all things LG G5. It hides the system update and I haven't got the prompt since.

I'm a little conflicted with this as I actually like the v20. Who else is going to be returning the phone if we can't get a root method? I've tried to consider keeping it, even without, but I absolutely hate ads.
For those in the know, how is it looking? What are the prospects? I've kept up with the dev threads and I'm not sure how to judge this. I'm new to the LG dev scene.

What's even worse is that if there is something discovered it seems it will be very close or after the return period in my case. But I guess those are the cards!
the phone hasn't even been officially released yet. honestly you just need to relax a little. we know the bootloader can be unlocked on the t-mobile variant. so hopefully root will soon follow. but seriously you just need to give the devs some time to spend some time with the phone. with that being said even if they aren't able to get root i am still keeping my v20. i love it. way better than when i had the note 7

I'm not worked up. They have all the time in the world to work on it, no rush. I'm the one who is rushed. And I don't expect them to go any faster than they can. I'd be just fine in going back to my Note 5, but I'd rather not if I don't have to. It's nice to have a change. If I could help the devs I would.
Even if it doesnt get rooted, i will keep it, at least for 8 month or more. On ther other hand, i truly hope they manage to root not only Tmobile's variant (I own the tmobile's variant), but also at least 3 or 4 of the other variants. That way we can have more devs interested and joining the LG V20 Wagon . When a device's bootloader is unlocked only for 1 variant and locked for the others and if root is not achieved in the locked variants, then there are significantly less development on the phone, since only the variant able to be rooted will be truely open for developments, and the other devs in other variants would say "Meh" i skip it.
I would love root as well, I've been rooting my phones since the HTC 3G slide days. And along the way I've accumulated many apps that are a must have for me. That said, I think the features and functionality of this phone outweighs those must have apps. I could 'enjoy' this phone without root.
As far as if root with for sure be coming to this device? That's anyone's guess, it could take as long as a few months to acquire a real solution to root. There is also the development aspect of this to consider as well. While we will have people devoted to getting root and attempting to make ROM's/mods, Android N is brand new.
It's a toss up if we'll see root, than it's a question of how much development we'll see once a root solution has been found. So basically one need to ask themselves if attaining root solution is really necessary in keeping this phone. I personally see stock LG very pleasant to play with.

I agree, I would love to see an unlocked bootloader for all carriers. That is the primary reason I am with Tmobile. I can't stand being deprived simple filesystem access to my own device. But in this case, I'd be just fine with just root if the devs don't jump on board. I mean I love flashing custom roms, but this stock rom is great (for once). I just want adaway!!!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe the Pixel has been rooted yet either. And since there are only two devices out now that have shipped with both Nougat, and the duplicated system partition for background updates, there remains quite of but of work to get SuperSU working.

I'm a little later than that. I think my first root was the HTC Evo. I agree that for once the stock experience here is pretty satisfying. I could deal with it, if I could only get rid of all those ads. I just can't do it. Pop ups and junk everywhere throughout the whole OS. I haven't seen an ad is so long I'm a little shell shocked.
I expected it to be a toss up with Android N. I knew this might happen, but we always hope for the best.

Heck yeah!! I need adaway! And slim pie, and greenify, and TITANIUM BACKUP (GOD! ) , and a couple of things more. also, i would love for lg to create many themes and then they can keep updating them and make them compatible with future devices so that it doesnt stop just in few months. Also to add more options to the second screen such as display notifications entirely one by one. I wonder if LG has a page to send suggestions and feeback . I would make LG V20 the greatest device ever LOL!

Yeah Titanium Backup would have been extremely helpful! I find that I didn't install half the backed up apps though, so that's something. I guess I didn't need a lot of that junk. LOL I'm usually first in on Viper4Android as well, but for once I don't think that it is a necessity. I haven't even played with themes yet. Thanks for reminding me. Second screen is surprisingly useful. I love flipping through songs on spotify with the screen off. I also love how you can see the full notification text there sometimes, instead of it being broken up line by line. I do find myself trying to pull down the drawer from there though, even when the phone is in landscape!

I'll probably just crawl back to my Note 5. The s-pen gets stuck sometimes, and the charge port is wonky, but it's like an old friend. The dev community for it seems to have dried up a bit though. But I'm ok using a solid daily driver rom with adaway and viper4android on that phone. I don't need to be a flashaholic anymore.

I couldnt install about 15 apps that required root, now i only have 35 apps (my apps, the others are system apps) Which is why my battery drain seems reasonable LOL i mean, im surprissed it last more than a day given the fact that many of my apps are constantly synchronizing and i leave gps on and do some camera shots and videos, and also am constantly turning it on and off to see notifications and all that, and play music. Today i did all that. And my battery is in 68% . I bet greenify could make it even better. BUT I NEED ADAWAY! Everytime i go to Chrome and go to some website that has many ads and pop-ups it annoys me that much. Im about to download another browser, I think firefox has the ability of addons in android . Also, there are some apps with ads too.

I don't want to count. But with more than a dozen albums downloaded from Spotify, all my apps and media, my storage space is great with the stock 64GB and no SD. It's kind of mind blowing. Same here with the battery as well. I've been using it all day, listening to music, surfing the web, texting, youtube, etc. I'm still at 72 percent. It beats the Note 5 for sure.

Am I missing a post? All I can find is the posts for the 930F/FD.
I'm trying to get a handle on this whole 60% battery issue before it gets pushed to me. I know about the app that disables it for you, but honestly I'd rather have Root for ultimate say.
If there's not a ROM for the Sprint version, why not? (other than no one has made one)
I'm sorry if this has been covered in an older post.

Yeah. I have a fix. Download this .tar and put each part in the right box. Turn on OEM unlock and Debugging and flash with the latest version of Odin3_v3.12.4_4 . My phone now charges to 100% and the stupid recall nag screen is gone. The phone is 100% stock and unrooted still. You're welcome. Don't forget to hit that thanks button.

I will post if it works or not, I wish there was a way to revert to the factory firmware and not wipe the data. So I assume a simple restore really does not restore it to factory another words the updates are still there not the firmware it shipped with? My guess is the updates applied will stick. The method I mentioned previously works, I know it's a headache to restore data but it's worth it in the end.

Well we better get a custom rom quick because Samsung told me today that they will release an update that prevents the phones from being turned on as well as carriers are going to block note 7s from connecting to their network. We have to make our voices heard becaise today its the note 7, tomorrow who knows, I will never buy samsung again after being treated this way.
PS Disable samsung cloud because they are using it to drain your battery...

True that, however we will be powerless against the IMEI block, that's a cell tower thing, something we don't have control over.
I was successful in reverting to a previous update before the 60% one. I also found a previous version of the package blocker described in some of the posts I've read. All of which you can find via Google (Android central) or XDA.
Phone automatically tried updating, so I skipped ahead as fast as possible to turn on airplane mode. I then installed the already downloaded disabler, disabled the recommended packages and turned on the radio again.
(Note: Ensure that you de-encrypt your files before starting the process, I forgot to and lost some files.)

Can someone point me to the easiest free way to Root the Note 7, its a Sprint Note 7 so I can get rid of the 60% thing. Does Root allow you to stop the 60% battery limit? Does it allow you to stop all the dang warnings? I would appreciate it. I keep getting different threads about how to Root the Sprint Note 7 so if someone can post a link to the best thread on how to do this the easiest without messing it up. I really appreciate it, thank you in advance.

Unfortunately, there isn't a root option for us 930P users. There was something that we *could* have used, however that got patched a couple updates ago and we can't go any further back than the one that patched it (to my understanding).
If we have root access and the XPOSED module, then there certainly will be something we can do about it if you do a quick search in the play store... of course like the package disabler, Samsung will come hard at those apps too... Im lucky enough to not ever had to deal with the 60 percent update, hopefully I'm lucky enough that someone will release a rooted PHE or unlock key for the bootloader.
