Hey guys, I am thinking about getting one of these tablets, but I have a couple of questions.
1) If I buy the 32GB LTE one, do I need to force it to be on a phone plan? (WiFi only?)
2) Since my computer is not a GeForce rig, can I use Splashtop Gaming THD to stream games w/o any lag?
So those are my questions, hope you can answer them.
You can probably just turn off the radio by putting your tablet into permanent airplane mode. I've never heard anyone complain using that method.
Gaming over wireless is iffy. Read reviews, there are probably a lot of new people disappointed with the performance of the Splashtop gaming app, moreso if it's going to be the killer app for getting the tablet.

Let's say I just got my tablet and turn it on, does the setup require you for a phone plan?

I can answer the second question. Yes, you can use Splashtop Gaming THD. I will point out more alternatives though.
Take note that none of them are powerful as Nvidia's. You need a great internet connection and a router that works on 5 ghz (In my country, Chile, for ex., very hard)
Three alternatives are:
1- Kainy (free version with ads; demo version: paid version)
2- Splashtop 2 (more of a desktop remote app than made for gaming) (free)
3- Kino Console (free)
Ive somewhat used Kino Console, for a couple of minutes, and it seems the most solid alternative.
I'd suggest you try them on another Android device first.

Let me be specific. You do not need a phone or data plan to use your Nvidia Shield 32gb LTE.

I would like to know if anyone has tried any type of gaming with your windows 7 machine via remote desktop on home network?
I was thinking about something like bauldurs gate, Diablo, or heck....even WoW possibly.

I don't think you'll get too good of a result with that; especially over Wi-Fi. Networks speeds just aren't fast enough to transfer >30 fps (which you need for a smooth gaming experience ). They might just be playable if you turn the resolution way down but then you're going to lose a heck of a lot of quality.
Not what you might consider gaming, but I've played around with Flight Sim X across the network using Splashtop, and it was pretty flyable. (Well, apart from the fact I don't have a bluetooth joystick, and don't know that Splashtop would support it even if I did.)
NBA League pass Mobile on a Sprint Evo 3D works great. Is there any quality way to use the mobile app on an Android tablet without buying the Broadband version for over a hundred dollars more?

I'd like to know as well. I bought the sub through the Play Store via the Game Time app on my GS3. Went to watch a game on my Nexus 7 with the tablet version of Game Time and it gives me the login screen (which should be bypassed like on the GS3).
Now I'm shopping for an adapter so I can use my phone plugged into one of my monitors
Hey, I've currently got a dell xps l502x with a nvidia gt525m and a i5 2.3ghz, I play loads of games and its capable of running everything I've tried but last week I accidently dropped the laptop so I'm looking to buy another 1 for playing games on. Has anyone got any reccomendations of good gaming laptops? Don't want to spend over £500!
Cheers

Watch for 2nd and 3rd Gen i7 laptop sales. Or another option - depending on how bad your old one is trashed - try and find parts for yours and fix it up yourself. Might be cheaper that way.
Btw, next time you make a topic like this, post it in OT since this one might get locked or moved.

That is sad to hear, As has been said, look for I7 laptops with at least an Nvidia 600 series graphics card or the ATI equivalent. Also, do check notebook reviews because when I bought mine, I then discovered that it had a heat issue and that the CPU had to constantly throttle down because it reached 100°C of Celsius.
Needless to say, I had to lock the CPU speed at 1995 MHz so it did not Turbo Boost. So, do check notebook reviews. At the time ;I went for the cheapest MIddle range notebook. Its not a bad notebook, just this design flaw is annoying. I can still play BF3 in low graphics.
Also, do check what type of display you want. I have 17 Coll TN Panel Notebook. If you get an IPS panel notebook, you would benefit from an awesome screen. And one morething, if you go for HD resolution, the prices will skyrocket to 800 Euros immediately.
So mate, thats all. I can tell you what notebooks are currently in your price range but I doubt prices are the same in GB. So, thats left for you to do.
Cheers.

I currently have a Pi and I cant waiting 30 secs for menus to load up anymore (I already have it OC'd running off of a USB) and I was looking at youtube videos of boxes like the geniatech atv520e and it seems much faster. What are the most popular boxes on here?
Do people run android or linux? I would prefer linux since I've heard its much more stable and you can watch 1080p video. I am willing to spend up too $100 but the cheaper the better.
Im only buying it to use add ons like 1channel and icefilms not for streaming videos to the box using a NAS

Thats the problem there are too many options I rather just buy one somebody recommends
If you want to buy one for around 100$ there is a big problem right now. Most companys switched from the RK3188 SoC to the RK3188T. So in this price segment, you will probably only get a RK3188T SoC. The RK3188T is a cheap version of the RK3188 that brings some problems especially with custom ROMs and kernels. The only "real" RK3188 box (non T) i know of is the Minix Neo X7 but this one is about 140$. The other option is a MK808 with a dual core RK3066 SoC for about 40$, this is an older device with weaker hardware, you might have problems playing high bitrate HD videos with it.
You chose a rather bad time to buy a TV Stick/Box . If you don't want to spend 140$ for the X7, i would wait for 2-3 month and see if it gets better.

Thinking about purchasing a z3 so I need to know if I will be able to use this feature...
I have a 10mb(1Mb actual download speed) adsl line. Will this be sufficient?

i have a 5mb connection and i cannot play call of duty as its too laggy, the game play is smooth but when i turn on my tv my input from the controller is 1 second faster on the tv compared to the image displayed on the Z3, on call of duty this makes the biggest of differences, i doubt you will have any lucky with 1mb. I would say 20mbs + is probably when you will play it perfectly.
802.11n over 2.4Ghz is too laggy at my house, I have to connect to our 5Ghz network. Could just be interference though.
I have 30mb but connection speed is not what matters.
I think it works perfectly on some games but others it lags a lot.
For example Watchdogs works perfectly had no input lag at all. Even when settings were on high.
But when I tried towerfall accesion the input lag was noticible. It was very hard to play properly. And this is just a small indie game.
Sony really advertised it way too much on the z3 which made me think it'll be better than this. Instead they should've saved this feature for a future gaming phone like the Xperia play 2 and only released it when it was working properly.
Slightly Dissapoointed here but the Xperia z3 is one beast of a phone so its all good.
