Of course it is But I would imagine such an app would require faster quad cores, like the ones coming out. The exynos may be able to handle this but not very well. Many pc's with quads struggle with ps2 games, so I wanna see how a phone handles..
I would like to see this happen

libSDL is not an issue; porting the x86 code for micro/dynarec/int to ARM is the real issue.
i would love to see this happen. especially since they finally made the ps3 controller app. and it worjs wonderful... ps2 on a phone would make me upgrade regardless of the price. and i usually get my phones for dirt cheap. like my current dx was $50 i just passed up a chance to buy a dx2 from a friend who said he didnt like it for $75

The PCSX2 on the PC is still not yet stable as some high ended hardware is also not compatible or unable to support the PS2 games. Unless it receives a lot of support from a lot of developers, it will takes a long time.

how about we quit naysaying and someone compile the bloody thing or post an apk so we can start testing, ive had pcsx2 running on an old acer laptop i overclocked for ages so im pretty sure my samz galaxy s2 or asus transformer could cope as they are both rooted and overclocked. No one expects 60fps or hell even 30 but I'd be psyched just to see proof of concept before i buy a kal el core tablet and give the transformer to my wife

Nothing yet, apparently people are having issues compiling the code. Last update I saw was a month ago. Now I've got my Galaxy S3 I really want this to happen more than ever, MHL out and Bluetooth Ps3 controller = God of War in your pocket!
Any devs here up for the challenge? Wouldn't mind starting a bounty for this as I'm sure plenty of us would love it and happily pay for the chance even if it was just a proof of concept similar to the dreamers emu I've seen floating around.

This thread is the sad truth about xda-developers comunity these days... About the topic, even some powerfull x86 computer has issues (lag, texture problems and more), do you imagine how will this run on a mobile processor?
Cores don't translate to power, only to multi-threading, mobile processors are not the same processors you use on PC, on the technology we have today, this is not doable.
(and i can't find it possible, that people just say somethings like "someone just compile it and give us the apk"...people like these have no idea of what programming is...this is not organics)
I left this in the Development forum in the hope that there would be some actual development work on this project. Since that's not the case I'm now moving it to the General forum.
Thread moved.

It pretty much could be done there was a Dreamcast emulator that was being worked on for android it had crazy taxi and a few other games running so the possibility of a phone to play PS2 Games should be doable since my old laptop could play most PS2 games perfectly but struggled to play some Dreamcast games if this was done it would be amazing although saying this EPSXE PS1 emulator is on Google playstore maybe they might try making a PS2 emulator but games/roms will take up loads of memory

Go for a refurb Nook Color or Archos.
The tablet you showed has good specs but considering the fact that it's not a common model, you will have trouble finding,
1) rooting procedures.
2) service/repair
3) custom ROMs.
And, the one you showed looks like a Chinese tablet that have crappy hardware and software.
If you took a look at the review they said it was quite neat, and I've only heard good things about it when looking around.
It just worries me a bit, that people says 2.2 is crap and that dual core is worth **** when most things only run one one :/
Nook Color and Archos is e-reader, I don't want that :/
Only 2.3 and 3.0 tablets worth buying?
Nook is fully functional android tablet when rooted... Not just e-reader... And much better than the Chinese tablet you are looking at. A friend at work bought one of those... Very slow and lags like crazy... No good. Hope you find what works for you.

2.3 and 3.0 tablets are somewhat worth buying. Archos is not an eReader. It's a PMP/tablet. Nook Color is an eReader and so has an excellent display. Still, it's full touch and can be rooted and made to function as a real tablet.
I wouldn't really call 2.2 crap. It's good but with a Nook Color, you will be able to update to 2.3.5 using CM7.
It's sad that you are making me repeat myself, a Nook Color comes with an American warranty unlike a Chinese product which has no warranty. Even if they advertise one, you can't be sure that they will honor it 100%.
A review can be biased. On the internet, you can easily write a biased review. Nook Color has a huge modding community and, not everyone is going to be biased.
As for Archos, it's more multimedia oriented and so has a dual cam as well.
I wouldn't call dual core ****. Although not a lot of software can utilize multi-threading, you will see better software soon. It might take some time by when, your tablet would become slow and outdated. Dual core is worth it but it's not a smart choice, right now.

Nook Color does consume more battery but it has reasonable life.
Then again, it all boils down to your own priorities. If you don't mind a sub-standard Chinese product as long as it's cheap and has some cool specs, go ahead. If you want a somewhat quality product which is either little expensive or has lower specs, don't buy the model you showed.

Even laptops are hard to upgrade hardware wise, let alone tablets.
He is talking about software. That thing runs 2.2. Most smartphones listed in have custom ROMs. Most phones that have only 2.1 officially have 2.3 ported unofficial by XDA members. He is asking if you can upgrade that device to 2.3 at least unofficially.

That looks more like a scam. It is impossible to squeeze so much power with such a low price.
What is your primary purpose for this tablet?
I would second the suggestions for Nook&Color.
Also, I hear Amazon's going to launch it's new android based eBook-centric tablet, as "Amazon Kindle" for $250. If you just want to read some ebooks, do a little surfing, and play games like Angry Birds. Then I think this tablet is for you. Keep in mind that this tablet is very ebook-oriented and NOT AT ALL like any other android based tablet. Heck, it doesn't even support some of the google services (Android market). You may want to watch out for that.

No it isn't : it's a real fully-functional Android tablet.
I own a A101IT (G8, the one running Froyo), and really like (and recommend) it!
... or you should wait for the next version (G9), with a dual-core and Honeycomb-powered.
Hey XDA. Im currently sending this off of a crappy ipod touch 4g. So sorry if there is any gramatical or spelling errors. Im going to be selling this on ebay to help fund my tablet because it looks like they can sell for $150 to $200 in the condition mine is currently in.
But anyway, Im looking for a tablet, I dont care about size. Im looking to get one for $200 to $300 new. I was hoping it could have at least a gig of ram, a dual core (if possible), be able to play games well, have a decent sized development community on gere, rootable, and a decent battery life because I will be taking this to school.
I know Im asking for a lot, but rooting and installing roms looks like a lot of fun, and Im not able to buy an android phone because with us cellular they require a data plan, which my dad doesnt need, so he doesnt want to pay for it (which is fair).
Ive also heard of the nvidia tegra 2, just wondering is that a cpu, apu or gpu? I currently own a gtx 460 in my computer, so if I had a nvidia product like that in my tablet, that would be cool.
Alright sorry that ive asked a lot, if this has alreadt been answered please feel free to close this thread and link me to the thread where that answer is.
Thanks!

Good luck finding a TouchPad...
Most of the lesser expensive tablets (I. E. In your price range) are either underpowered or do not have custom ROMs.
If you don't mind a slightly sluggish experience but it runs games well you could get a nook color which has cyanogenmod support. If you want speed and decent power, kindle fire is a good bet. If you want a tablet that's very powerful and has root (you can customise apps and launchers, etc.) nook tablet. Nook tablet does not yet have custom ROMs but it has root and is the cheapest tablet in its class.

Now they can be readily found on eBay, but they are going up in price; the price for one of the 16GB models has risen about $40 in the past week. Upon using the device, three of my friends have bought one for themselves, I really can't recommend the device enough.
I'd suggest looking at the Nook Color or Nook Tablet. They sell new for $200 & $250 respectively. They are a little underpowered compared to some of the newer stuff like a Galaxy Tab 10.1 or something like that, but you can't beat that price. You'd be lacking some things, like a camera and microphone.
CM7 is currently available for the Nook Color and works amazingly well. I'm sure it'll be made available for the Tablet soon enough if it doesn't yet exist. Depending on what you mean to do with the tablet one of these may be more than enough.

Nook Color runs stably at 1.3 ghz under cyanogenmod 7. It feels a little pokey to me and I have one.
Nook tablet is dual core 1.1 OMAP 4 with a gig of ram. It is hardly underpowered as I have one of these as well.
The biggest issue with both nooks is android <3. 0 so it does not have the interface GPU accelerated. Any tablets above gingerbread will seem faster even if they have lower specs. Most of the time the GPU does nothing and the cpu has to process the interface, touch, plus everything else. Touch and interface are offloaded to GPU on honeycomb and higher.
If cyanogenmod 9 come to the Blaze it will be a better tablet than most Honeycomb because it has a faster and better cpu with more ram. Most honeycomb tablets only have 512mb.

I didn't really want the nook color to be honest, and I was thinking about getting the nook tablet, but the only problem is that you can't really install roms on it because of the bootloader being locked or something? (This is what I've heard, I'm an Android noob).
If the boot loader is really locked on newest Nook Tablets, that would eliminate it from my list of possible candidates. Is this true? I was leaning toward the NT because of the card slot, and the possibility of booting from an sd card. (I read that the lock was imposed during an automatic upgrade)

Big Lots had this tablet on sale this week for $80. It has crappy resolution(800x480) but does have 1gb of ram and Android 4.0.4 so I would give it a try. Out of the box it didn't support tablet optimized apps or setting so i had to add a line to the build.prop to fix it. Then I just did the usual things ot add the Play store and Gapps. My mom asked me about this tablet, After researching I told her this would be a pretty decent tablet for kids. So she picked up a few of these for my nephews for X-mas gift so they will stop fighting for/over hers. This will be excellent to get play, change res & gapps. Thanks for this. I'll post back with results.
i purchased one of these at biglots today and it allready quit working. i didnt try to root it or install playstore. the appstore that came with it was buggy for me and the thing crashed the first time i used the browser. i had to use the reset buton and now it wont boot past android guy so going back tomorrow.
baught another one today. there was a hissing from the speaker. turned it off and it would not turn back on. didn't even leave the parking lot with this one. has anyone else had bad luck with these. should i try again if they get more in
What are the pros and cons of switching the default resolution (big) to a smaller setting?
bought mine a week ago
I just bought mine a week ago, and it is a very nice tablet not for it's price, just a nice tablet. plues are
-wifi, it works very well good range.
-fast enough processor 1.2 ghz plays temple run no hicups, I have'nt had anything acting funny or anything like that.
-muti touch works great 5 points of touch
-USB port, it comes with a mini USB, but has connecction that makes it a full USB port. so far I only tried a keyboard and it worked perfectly ( thats what I am typing this with
-front facing web cam. it works though
-micro sd
3-4 gigs of storage. it saids 4 gigs but I only see 3
negatives
- it did'nt come with play store. I had to install it myself by hooking it up to the computer and getting some script and connecting tablet through ABS or something like that. I'm no expert it took me about 30 min. to do.
-no bluetooth
-no gps
-no fifty core processor
-no camera on the back ( its a tablet it should'nt have one)
all in all I got this tablet for $71 at big lots on sale, and it is normally $80. If you just want a good tablet that will go on the internet, play most games and apps ( netflix, flash, templerun) then you won't be diapointed, if you want a $200 dollar tablet buy a nexus 7
D2 hardware change?
Hello everyone,
Yesterday I picked two D2 Pads on BigLots but I just want to inform that it has been a hardware specification change (downgrade).
Please take a look at the photos I included, but basically the D2 has been downgraded to:
512 MB RAM
1 Ghz CPU
LCD Screen with bad viewing angles!
Also the hardware buttons have been moved from the top to the right side of the tablet, so this clearly indicates it's different hardware.
It's no longer as smooth as the original D2 Pad, but all in all, it's good for kids and the casual web surfer/social network user I guess.
Cheers!

Hi all i wont to buy Galaxy Note 10.1 and i wont to ask is it worth it i am a gamer and i wont to play this HD games and Order and Chaos can it hold it on high graph.. and what is bad and good in this Galaxy Note 10.1
If you are mostly interested in playing games then I'd look at other tabs...
The main feature of the Note 10.1 is the s-pen. It is good for school work and business but if you want to play HD games there are other cheaper alternatives....
I use mine to watch video's and movies too and find no problem but utilise the s-pen for a variety of things. If I didn't need the s-pen and the phone functions then I would have looked at cheaper alternatives..

I would recommend going to a Best Buy if there is one near you and comparing the Note 10.1 to other tablets. The Note 10.1 is undoubtedly an awesome tablet! I considered buying one myself for a while. I have also considered a Nexus 10, as it's another great choice! With that said, I chose the Asus Infinity over the Note 10.1. I bought it before the Nexus 10 came out, but considered buying the Nexus 10 as well, and then possibly selling my Asus Infinity. I did my research on the two, and chose not to get the Nexus 10. I'm very happy with my Infinity!! I had the Asus Prime before the Infinity, and I feel like Asus makes outstanding tablets! Asus makes awesome phones too for that matter. I actually wish Sprint offered the Asus PadFone 2, as that would no doubt be my current phone!! Asus is also among the first, if not the first, manufacturers to release software updates for their products! The display on the Infinity is full HD and absolutely gorgeous! Not I, or anyone else, can tell you what tablet to get, only you can decide what tablet suits you the best! Just make sure to do your research on them first to see what's gonna work best for you. Check out YouTube videos as well! Also, if flashing is something your gonna be doing, be sure to check out their forums here on XDA and see which developers are cooking for which devices. See what rom and kernel options are out there, as well as themes and mods. Just all boils down to what your needs are, what your wants are, and what you will ultimately using the device for! Either way, good luck with your decision, and I hope you enjoy whatever you get!!
EDIT: FOR GAMING: I can tell you first hand that the Infinity is a beast!! Dead Trigger with the Sixaxis app and a PS3 controller is awesome(just to name 1 game, which is my favorite)!! Even though I have an XBOX 360 and a PS3, I often hook up my Infinity with its HDMI port built in to the side of the tablet, and play on my 55" Sony LED TV! It's absolutely amazing!! If anyone walks in the room, they never believe that I'm playing from my tablet and not a console!! I play Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, Horn, ShadowGun THD, ShadowGun: DeadZone, Modern Combat 4, Max Payne, NOVA 3, Asphalt 7, Need For Speed Most Wanted, Sonic 4 THD, Beach Buggy Blitz, Shine Runner, and on and on, etc. etc. They all look and play amazingly well on the Infinity!! I don't even play Most Wanted on my Evo LTE anymore, only on my Infinity! I expected the tilt steering to be awkward and cumbersome on a 10" tablet compared to my 4.7" Evo LTE, and just assumed I would use the touch screen for steering. I was pleasantly surprised when I first tried it and found that tilt steering was actually better on my tablet than on my phone!!

I had an Asus Infinity and hated the thing, the lag was unbearable, and that was running a custom rom which was an improvement. Gaming was good, and the hdmi out was a plus but not used very much. Also there are some games that are not compatible with it due to resolution. The note although lower resolution is so much snappier. I would definitely not recommend any of the Asus tablets.
In total agreement, I will never purchase another Asus tablet. The Prime was the worst technology buying experience I have ever had. Never again...NEVER!

So far so good I have been running most high end games without lags. I would say am pretty much satisfied with its gaming performance.

If gaming is your main concern wait a little for the new nexus 7 device should be out in two months or so, nexus devices seem to perform well when it comes to gaming
