Hi All,
I just bought a Z3 (Specs listed below) and when I go to Settings -> More -> Mobile Networks I don't see the service provider option. I am new to sony devices and was wondering if there is any way to enable that menu option? I am currently roaming and would like to choose the provider I am roaming with.
I only see the following:
Mobile Data Traffic
Data Roaming
Network Mode
Access Point Names
Xperia Z3 Specs:
Model D6653
Baseband: 8974-AAAAANAZQ-00022-21
Build Number: 23.0.1.A.5.77
Android Version: 4.4.4
Resolved
Ok, so it turns out that when you are using AT&T and you travel to Canada / Mexico, they block the select service provider feature due to pre negotiated agreements with certain carriers. Called ATT Roaming team and they sent an update to the phone and brought back the menu.
Just incase anyone else runs into the same issue!

Anyone got an HTC HD7 ?
If so, how do you select from a list of available networks ?
A friend of mine has just bought one on O2 and is stuck in Dubai with no emails - it was working perfectly in the UK, and all relevant services are enabled on his O2 account.
Roaming/data are both enabled on the phone itself but the phone has defaulted to the Etisalat network. O2 recommend using either of the AL JAWAL, Mobily or Zain networks for their services to work in Middle East/Emirates countries.
Anyone got a UK one and care to offer a menu sequence to select from available networks ?
I think the options are under cellular in the settings menu. Not sure about how to change it manually though
HTC app called connection wizard or something...
Go to settings>cellular>scroll to bottom, choose tap to select where it says network selection:automatic
Hi everyone,
I bought a Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 (16gb) in Singapore and was using it fine on Singtel's network (signed a contract with them). Now I have moved back to Canada and brought my phone with me assuming that all would be ok to use it with the network here. However I'm having big problems with this one network I just signed up with (Virgin Mobile).
85% of the time I cannot connect to it: voice calls and SMSing won't work nor will the data work on it, the only thing it says is "Emergency calls only". Then at other times everything will seem to connect and work fine - I can make calls and use data.
Virgin Mobile will not support me much because they're thinking it's the phone's problem, if I use the phone they gave me (a lower-end model) it works fine.
Here are some details of my phone:
Firmware version
2 2
Baseband version
I9000DXJPA
Kernel version
2 6 32 9
root (at) SE-S604 #1
Build number
FROYO DXJPA
If I check out the status, it usually says this:
Network
Unknown (switches to VIRGIN when it does work)
Mobile network type
UMTS (switches between that and HSDPA and GPRS)
Service state
Out of service
Mobile network state
Disconnected (switches to connected when working, and even when it's not working sometimes)
I have Network mode set to auto mode (GSM/WCDMA). I've tried to switch it to GSM only but that didn't seem to change anything.
I'm wondering if there's some kind of configuration settings I still need to do with the phone? I'm also wondering if it is the network I'm with right now? Virgin Mobile isn't one of the bigger telcom companies here and I'm thinking that if I switch to one of the bigger telcoms, will it work better?
Something else to add - before I signed up with Virgin I was using my phone with a pre-paid service (called Chatr) for voice only and it was working fine.
I'm sure this phone can support the GSM frequencies here.. can't it?
I also still have the Singtel customizations on the phone. Will it help if I remove it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks a lot!
Ryan
sorry, wrong category..
I am new to rooting. After over 2 days of unsuccessfully trying to install android 4.4.4, I finally did using clockwork and nightly's 11 cyanogen kitkat mod with gapps. I have a Huawei Ascend Y300. My mobile network, before rooting (?) was Bell [Canada]. Now, it doesn't seem like I can connect to mobile networks like before. I cannot send nor receive texts and calls, making things very difficult. I'm definitely new to rooting, so I have no idea what the language of this business is. I really do not want to have to go back to factory resetting because getting 4.4.4 to work was the biggest pain I've had to deal with yet with my phone, as it soft bricked and everything.
I'm not on a data plan, so it's not like I use my phone for its own wifi, but just the regular connection for texting/calling doesn't work. I think this feature was unavailable to me sometime after I rooted my phone. The mobile network became unavailable (I think) sometime between it being rooted, but definitely before it was upgraded to 4.4.4.
How can I fix this problem?
Below is my phone's status. Note that the Imei is available, but the parts that include mobile networks are unavailable.
Battery Status: Not charging
Battery Level: 21%
Network: Unknown
Signal Strength: 214783647 dBm 255 asu
Mobile network type: Unknown
Service Status: Out of service
Roaming: Not roaming
Mobile Network State: Disconnected

IMEI: ****************
IMEI SV: **

Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Exactly which ROM did you flash? Where did you find it? Please provide a link.
No response in two days, thread closed.

Hi there!! Well my one plus one had the problem of the continuous restart, and solve it, following the steps of the htcmania tutorial from reboot (i am new so xda doesnot allow me to post outside links)
Everything is perfect, everything works again. The problem: It does not detect the Telcel sim. I am from Mexico ,by the way.
In Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Preferred Network Type, select 3G (if I select LTE does not recognize anything), then:
Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Network Operators
when selecting this option I only see Iusacell 4G and Nextel 3G (the others companies in the country) and, very often from Telcel, and when I select it (with a Telcel sim inside ), it says: Registering in Telcel, then throws an error saying that it can not register the signal.
in:
Settings -> Mobile Networks -> APN, has Telcel Edge selected, and Telcel MMS configured already.
The rom that was installed doing the tutorial that I put is:
CyanogenMod version
11.0-XNPH30O
Android vesion
4.4.4
Kernel version
3.4.0-cyanogenmod-g7389215 build04 @ cyanogenmod # 1 Mon Aug 11 15:50:37 PDT 2014
What do I need to do to get the sim's signal? Can someone help me please?:crying:

Noticed sim problems on my one plus one 4G and 3G running an Oreo ROM and using FreedomPop. It works and can connect as normal, but call quality is pretty poor and probably unrelated. Curious if anyone has similar poor call quality? Sorli....

Curious what baselines have you tested. For instance, my One Plus One uses GSM and that means I can use anyone's SIM card and from other providers to see if my problem is SIM specific (faulty sim card, sim slot failure, or installed upside down).
Do you have friends who Sims work that you can install in your phone and test your phone hardware and software? Thankfully, I have wife and can easily swap SIM cards and test my configuration quickly. Worth seeing what you get and this should help baseline your configuration.
Side note, found my cell problems and lack of signal related specifically to the building (metal roof, concrete walls) and I'm actually shocked how different phones using same service get such different call quality. I'm not talking bout huge differences in smartphones and one phablet having larger antennas compared to another. All are about the same and performance simply fluctuates depending on location. Nothing knew here and I personally can't use my smartphone in buildings unless they're using Verizon or similar services.
Sorry for the long reply, but maybe it will help you resolve your problem! Sorli...

If you are on kitkat 4.4, try updating to a nougat rom, this is really stable and updated:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...m-kernel-unofficial-lineageos-14-1-3-t3626403
BUT ATTENTION: this rom doesn't come with an updated modem, so also flash a newer modem firmware :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/firmware-modem-oneplus-one-lollipop-t3300907
DI.3.0.c6-00241 - latest "stable" modem, try this first
4.0.1.c7-00011.zip - alpha modem, someone says it's better, others says that it causes problem, you have to try it yourself.
Hope this will fix your issue!
