[Q] How do I find a device's location if I don't have access to it? - General Questions and Answers

So I just noticed recently that a new device has shown up in my Android Device Manager. It is a Samsung SM-G900F, which apparently is a T-Mobile Galaxy S5 (it says T-Mobile in the web version of the Play Store). I only know two people with S5s and they're both on Verizon. I'm concerned someone has gained access to my Google account, so I'm hoping to gain some more information. The device cannot be found in ADM, likely because the app is not installed and set up, but I have access to the device in the web version of the Play Store, so I can install apps to it. So here's my question - are there any device location apps I can install to the phone to help me determine where this device is? I don't really want to confront anybody, but this would give me an indication of whether this could be someone I know. Is there a different method you could recommend to gain any other insight into where this mystery device came from or how it came to be associated with my account?

[Q] Tracking lost Smartphone

Hi guys
I'm relatively new to the world of smartphones
but here is my question:
so i bought an HTC wildfire S, lost it and bought a new one
i did block the simcard via my provider (O2) and got a new card for my new phone,
so yesterday i went on the android market to install some apps, and there i saw that my old (lost one) phone was still listed but under another provider (Vodafone)
I contacted vodafone, gave them my imei and asked them to give me contact information from the user because the phone had been stolen
I can still install apps on the stolen phone via android market, is there an app that i can install on the stolen phone that enables the gps device and allows me to track it? the htcsense.com tracker does not work and lookout needs to be registered
thanks alot!
i used the search form but did not find anything to solve my problem
/edit: so vodafone cant block the phone or give me the contact adresses...
I know there are apps that you can install , such as the ones listed here: http://www.androidtapp.com/5-best-a...ndations-from-the-experts-at-androidtapp-com/
But I don't know if you first have to configure them on the phone before you can use them.
I think when such info as location is involved, you will always have to tick the accept/allow screen on the device.
I dont think its possible to push it by ota/remote install etc.
Would be a massive security breach if it could huh.
if you can stil install apps, try

[Resolved] [Q] Removing a device from the market

I was looking at my apps in the Market and under the section where is says which of your devices the app is compatible with I noticed it listed a phone that's not mine. It's an unlocked Samsung phone on T-Mobile. I use Verizon and all Motorola devices. Thinking someone got into my account I changed my password but that device is still on there. Is there any way to disconnect that device from my account and remove it from the listing?
Maybe you are using a Samsung ported rom?
Sent from my toaster.
Well, all of my devices just use the standard rom that comes from Google / Verizon. However I use BlueStacks too. I saw that listed as just "Phone", at least I assume that's what it is. Unless it's my old Droid X. Maybe BlueStacks has something to do with it. It is true that there are no unrecognized purchases on my account.
Edit: Since that's probably the solution. I'll mark this as Resolved.

Welcome to the forums Are you referring to the Playstore or the Amazon Appstore? For the Playstore, if you have a PC, go to here and check or uncheck your device.
Thank you for responding, but apparently you are not reading my question properly.
If the device appeared on the google play site (online site - play.google.com), I would not have a problem. The issue is that it does not appear. It is not simplistic....the play store is properly accessed on the device and the settings for back up and sync are correct. These items were also verified by google support.
However, the device does not appear on the online site, but does on the devices itself.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Amazon App Store questions - two stores, and auto-update

Hi.
I have two questions about the Amazon App Store that I have not been able to find answers to anywhere so far.
1. When the Underground App Store came out, it seemed to slowly replace the old original Amazon App Store, but I didn't see it mentioned anywhere that the old store needed to be uninstalled, and I am concerned that the Underground App Store may not be able to manage all my previously installed apps, especially Free App Of The Day apps. Does anyone know if it is safe to delete the original Amazon App Store while still able to manage any older Amazon-downloaded apps?
2. One of the Amazon App Stores (not sure which one) has recently (early 2016) started the nasty habit of automatically updating all my Amazon-downloaded apps whenever a new update is available, and I am not OK with this. Most important of all, it doesn't seem to ask me about changed permissions anymore! I have not found any way of disabling this behavior so far. I even emailed Amazon customer service about this and was told they'd have to talk to me on the phone about this as it is a more complex issue - yea, right...
FYI, I know enough about Android to root my phone and browse the file structure, and I have some Linux experience, so either there is no easily found option for question 2 or I am suffering from temporary blindness which tends to happen occasionally...
I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S5 on Verizon, rooted, Android 4.4.4 Kernel 3.4.0, in case it helps. I disabled Android Software Updates so towelroot doesn't get disabled.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

Motorola XT2125-4 EdgeS Help needed

Hi,
I purchased a new phone a Motorola Edge S (hardware SKU XT2125-4), unfortunately it is a China ROM phone which means it didn't come with Google play store. This was side loaded and I am able to install apps from google. But I have SO many issues with this and I am hoping someone has something helpful to actually use this phone
1. When I try to use Google setup a nearby device (to transfer everything over to this phone), it simply can't find my new phone (despite having bluetooth and location on for both phones
2. I can't restore contacts from google drive even though I can connect
3. I downloaded the MAGISK app, however the file browser is unable to install as the app is not allowed. The toggle to trust the app can not be changed.
I am at a loss as to how to actually use this phone as essentially it's useless at the moment. Any help would be appreciated.
It is already running Android Version 11
Baseband version M55_HI20_209.334.01.60R NIO_PVT_SUPERSDS_CUST
Kernel Version 4.19.136-perf+
Build Number RRN31.Q1-20-17-6
I can provide any / all other information if needed
If the solution is to root the phone, I'm ok with that too, but see point 3.
I'm in the same situation. Purchased the XT2125 as well. Got the Google stuff working by side loading the play store, services and framework. However, initially, while everything else was working, the contacts wouldn't sync. After a few hours of searching, finally came across an article which said that I also needed to side load an apk called google contacts sync and give it permission. Contacts started syncing after that. Fast forward a couple of days and a system update later, SMS are delivered with really long delays and outbound ones fail. Google maps crashes constantly and navigation just doesn't work. I don't know what to do with this phone now honestly, since I need Google maps navigation on a regular basis. Have tried reinstalling maps, resetting permissions, clearing cache and data but nothing seems to work. And with the SMS delay, I can't sign on our complete transactions on a lot of apps because the SMS usually arrives after such a delay that the code has expired. Feels like such a waste of money this phone even though it's supposed to be great bang for the buck.
I am hopeful that when they release the Moto G100 (same phone actually), that we will be able to flash it with this ROM to make it usable.

Wait it's like that with motorola too
I thought it's only like that with xiaomi
Seems like even with motorola it doesn't come with google apps if it's a china rom
Though it was only with xiaomi where if it's a china rom it doesn't come with any google apps guess im wrong

Yeah, I think it's being released in a couple of days. Anyway, I did a factory reset and the maps issues sorted out. Had to go through the pain of sideloading google again but the device is being shown as google play certified, but yeah, would be nice to just have the international rom on it.
Were you able to make any headway with your device? I didn't put a sim in mine but the rest of it seems to be working ok, except Youtube Vanced isn't signing in with a google account.
